Finally my peanut plants are blossoming… I’ve been waiting for this because I’ve never seen a peanut plant or watched 1 grow! It’s pretty cool how they flower above soil but yet the fruit of the plant is underground! From a “seed” (raw peanuts in this case) to a plant to food on the table, it’s intriguing to me! That’s the thing with gardening everyday you don’t know what you’ll wake up to! I’m ok with that, I like surprises! 😂 The ONLY question I do have right now is why are all or most flowers orange or yellow?! I found out yesterday why all the peanuts the western scrub Jays plant reach a certain size then stop growing. Apparently there is a specific bacterium they need to grow that just doesn't exist in California soil. Has anyone in CA had success growing peanuts?
