CableScan® is a #ndttestingservices patented robotic cable stay inspection service that utilizes high definition video technology with crack measurement capabilities.  #groundpenetratingradarservice CableScan® does not require lane closures, man-lifts, bucket trucks or night time inspections. It is a self-propelled robotic system controlled by a base station that receives HD video transmission from the robotic crawler.  #NondestructiveTestingservices By utilizing IPC’s robotic CableScan® the coordinates of any imperfections along the cable stay are recorded as well as length traveled along the stay and corresponding length traveled along the deck. We can also provide the length and size of cracks and other abnormalities on the cable stay. A secondary CableScan® unit utilized magnetic flux leakage to locate section loss and corrosion of the steel cables.

IPC utilizes GPS positioning and #aerialinspections coordinate specific inspection zones to create safe detailed infrastructure assessments that utilize high definition video mounted on aerial drones to inspect hard to reach places on infrastructure assets worldwide. Utilizing drones to inspect infrastructure is faster, more efficient and less expensive than conventional methods.

The owner did not know the rebar #bridgeinspections patterns of the deck and was guessing as to its configuration. As the deck aged and began losing it ability to carry its intended loads the bridge owner need to know the rebar pattern so that a more accurate load rating could be performed. The following are images from bridge deck:

The results provide a condition #tendonscantm assessment of the internal sections of the tendon identifying the locations and sizes of water, air, and bleeding grout. The mag flux unit locates section loss and corrosion and is becoming more popular as the need to properly assess our ageing infrastructure becomes more critical.

Bridge structures are traditionally #bridgeinspections inspected visually for cracks and damage due to deterioration. Through such traditional practices, bridge inspectors visually inspect a bridge, record cracks and damage, take pictures and give the bridge a health rating. Visual inspections cannot assess the internal integrity of these structures, but only what is visible to the naked eye. By the time deterioration becomes visually apparent to the inspector, the damage to the structure is often severe.

TendonScan®  is a comprehensive #tendonscantm post tension tendon inspection service that utilizes the latest in non destructive evaluation (NDE) and nondestructive testing (NDT) technologies to locate and assess voids, water, bleeding grout (grout not cured) as well as section loss (loss of metallic area) and corrosion in external tendons of segmental structures. We have two separate patented portable units, one that utilizes RF an advancement in ECT Electrical Capacitance  Imaging  which  locates air, water and bleeding grout and another that utilizes Magnetic Flux Leakage to detect corrosion and locate section loss within a post tension tendon

or component is not damaged #whatisnondestructivetesting and can still be used. Some common uses of NDT are for manufacturers to test weldings or for cracks in metal or thickness and consistency in metal manufacturing. The automobile industry uses non destructive testing to test tolerances in ball bearings, crank shafts and other components under stress. The medical industry has probably seen the most advancement through the use of this technology. Innovations in the field of nondestructive testing have had a profound impact on medical imaging, Just think of the x-ray and MRI including echocardiography, medical ultrasonography, and digital radiography.

Locating corrosion and #watercontrolstructureinspections2 deterioration early is important to keep our infrastructure and traveling public safe. Utilizing modern technology and robotics is a first step to making this happen. Infrastructure Preservation Corporation has integrated proven non-destructive testing and modern technology into robotic delivery vehicles in order to provide quantitative data to asset owners worldwide.  These devices can peer through concrete and steel as well as visually assess a structure to provide advanced condition assessment reports.

A post tensioned tendon is a bundle of steel strands encased in grouted concrete and wrapped in a  #PostTensionTendon  protective sheathing and then tensioned. Post tensioning is a tehnique for reinforcing concrete.  According to Concretenetwork “Post tensioning is a technique for reinforcing concrete. Post-tensioning tendons, which are prestressing steel cables inside plastic ducts or sleeves, are positioned in the forms before the concrete is placed. Afterwards, once the concrete has gained strength but before the service loads are applied, the cables are pulled tight,  #groundpenetratingradarservice or tensioned, and anchored against the outer edges of the concrete.”  Without post tension tendons large slabs of concrete would crack and collapse under load. Post tensioned tendons are used in bridge construction, building construction, box girder roadways, tennis courts, dams and other large concrete structures.  #NondestructiveTestingservices

We have two separate patented portable units, one that utilizes RF an advancement in ECT Electrical Capacitance  #PostTensionTendonInspections  Imaging  which  locates air, water and bleeding groutand another that utilizes Magnetic Flux Leakage to detect corrosion and locate section loss within a post tension tendon.
A proprietary tendon  #bridgeinspections condition assessment report is generated identifying locations and sizes of any discontinuities.
TendonScan® is IPC’s term that encompasses both of these services. The RF unit is a light weight,  #NondestructiveTestingservices  battery operated system that couples and travels along a tendon performing a MRI like inspection of the material within the tendon. The inspector stands at the control station located on a wheeled cart and moves along with the sensor. The sensor uses wireless connectivity to transmit the MRI like data to the control station where the inspector performs real-time assessments of the discontinuities within the tendon.
