Every season that the farmer's market rolls around, one stand is the biggest of the lot. The produce is large and pristine, without a single wilted leaf. And yet, no one buys. A platter of delectable samples lay untouched. No prices are listed, but the townsfolk know that it costs far more than money.
After all, it's unwise to take food from the fae.
Everyone recognizes the glimmer of something more in Cub's eyes, the croon of Scar's sales pitch holding a bit too much lilt to be fully human. No matter how hard they try, the townsfolk had long since wizened to their tricks.
Unfortunately, no one had thought to tell Grian when he moved in...
It shocks them, really, when Grian approaches and wants to buy their produce. They run their usual pitch by him, saying it won't just cost money. Grian doesn't seem to understand, though, and offers up a trade of fish instead.
It's... Cute. Cub and Scar can't deny that the entire exchange is adorable. They rather like Grian, they decide, for as ignorant as he is.

Hello, I am here today to humbly ask for a grian x convex quote, because they are now my newest obsession
Grian: See, sleeping with Scar is awesome because he’s so cuddly.
Grian: And sleeping with Cub and Scar is really nice.
Grian: But when Scar isn’t around, Cub gets up at FIVE IN THE MORNING and I don’t know why I keep cuddling with him.

Sleeping With the Enemy 4/?
[Fanfiction Masterlist]
(Today you’ll probably get this instead of another One-Shot)
~*~
Scar was pacing the floor, his hands twitching. He was constantly glancing at the door. Every time he heard a noise he was hoping that Grian would come back. Cub was sitting close by, looking far calmer, but Scar knew he’d be just as restless, he just didn’t show those feelings. Scar shot him a look after half an hour had passed with no sign of Grian. At that moment he realised he should maybe take care of Cub, who he could actually help and not waste his time waiting. With a sigh Scar walked over, planting himself onto Cub's lap, putting his arms around the other and resting the head on his shoulder. "It will be alright, Cub. We will figure this out. We always have. He didn't mean what he said."
"I know", Cub's voice was shaking a little and it broke Scar's heart even more. "He doesn't mean it. He's in so much pain. I can feel him suffering and it pains me not to be able to do anything about it. Something went wrong with his friends. You know how scared he was of how they'd react."
Scar nodded his head.
"I pushed him, Scar. I told him they'd be alright with us. I shouldn't have made promises like that. It's my-"
"It's not your fault, Cub. First of all, we both tried to convince Grian to tell them. We have known Mumbo and Iskall for so long. Who could have thought they'd react this badly? Maybe they just had a little fight. Those two will come around", Scar tried to reassure his boyfriend, but he couldn't even convince himself with his words. Just then another wave of pain washed over them and Scar clung to Cub, both of them breathing harder.
"I don't think a little fight would cause him to be in so much pain."
Scar nodded, not even trying to argue with that. It was just too obvious. He'd never regretted the accidental magic bond they had created with Grian. Not even once. But looking at Cub now, he wished those emotions would come over a little less strong. "We will be there for him once he returns. He'll get all the cuddles in the world and I'll make cookies and you can read one of your books to him and we'll all fall asleep together and everything will be alright again."
The pain faded a little and Scar leaned back, searching Cub's face. And finally a little smile appeared on the other's face, even if it still looked really sad.
"I hope so. I really do. And if it doesn't I'll have a word with the two idiots. Make them see how dumb they are."
They sat there for a few minutes, just enjoying each other's warmth. Scar could feel himself getting tired, but the stinging pain kept him from actually drifting to sleep. A loud beeping sound from both of their communities jolted him awake and when another wave of pain followed right after it, Scar could feel the panic rise. He jumped off Cub, taking out his communicator and looking at the screen. His whole body felt like someone had dumped a bucket of ice cold water over him.
"Cub... This is bad. This is really bad. He must be injured."
Scar turned to Cub and found his expression of dread mirrored. Both of them jumped into action, running for the door and they were up in the air a few seconds later. The coordinates Grian had sent them were a good distance away and he couldn't help but panic. The pain didn't feel as bad as when Grian had been hit by that Ghast, so maybe he wasn't in immediate danger of dying. But Grian never sent a call for help in the public chat before without saying what was wrong.
There was another beep from his communicator and Scar almost dropped it in a hurry to look at it.
<ZombieCleo> Joe and me are pretty close by. We'll be right there.
Scar heaved a sigh of relief and turned to Cub. "Cleo and Joe are on their way."
Another minute passed before the communicator beeped again. Scar was prepared to see a message by Cleo, but he had thought she'd tell them what happened to Grian... This? This was so much worse.
<ZombieCleo> We need reinforcements. Xisuma, come here at once!
None of them ever bothered their admin. They all knew that Xisuma had enough to do with keeping the server running. They tended to solve problems on their own first. If Cleo's immediate reaction was to call so urgently for X... That had to mean something bad.
Scar fumbled to get out another rocket, when it suddenly hit him. He heard a scream and realised a second later, that he was the one screaming. It felt like his body was on fire, a searing pain running through his veins. He was also falling, the rockets somewhere below him in the air. He must have let go of them. He couldn’t even find the energy in himself to panic as he was falling down. All he could feel was a numbing pain. He was about to crash through the trees, when he suddenly stopped. He could feel Cub’s arms around him, holding them steady as they slowly descended. Cub’s hands that were usually so calm were shaking and clawing into the fabric of Scar’s jacket.
When they landed Scar turned around and the look on Cub’s face told him all he needed to know. “You felt it too.”
Cub nodded, his eyes filled with pain. “Scar… You need to control your emotions. You almost… You could have died.”
“No! Cub! Don’t tell me I’m too emotional. Not now. Not when… Cub what happened? There was so much pain and now I can’t feel him anymore. I can always feel him. Always! Is he…?” Scar looked at his partner in desperation, silently pleading with Cub to reassure him, to tell him that everything was alright. He needed to hear that they were going to be okay.
But Cub looked at him so pained, opening his mouth a few times to start, but not forming any words. And then he saw a tear running down Cub’s cheek. Scar shook his head vehemently. “No… No! He’s not. He can’t be. He’s not!”
He could feel tears welling up in his eyes too. “Cub, please. He’s...”
“Scar… Let’s… Go to the coordinates. We are pretty close. We’ll know what has happened when we get there.”
Scar tried to get his breathing under control. They needed to keep going. Grian wasn't dead before Scar saw his body. There was still hope. There could be other reasons for the bond to have disappeared, Scar just couldn't find a single one. He tried to keep his focus, but every time he thought he had it under control, he swore he saw Grian's dead and bleeding body right in front of his eyes. He couldn't concentrate on anything around himself anymore.
Everything seemed to disappear.
He swore he could hear Grian's voice screaming in pain. If Grian was dead, it would be his fault. If he had just been more persistent in following Grian. Or if he wouldn't have pressed him so much on telling his friends about their relationship. If Grian was dead, Scar was to blame. He should have been able to prevent it. He should have known something was up, when the pain had started.
If Grian was dead... Scar felt like he couldn't breath. He felt like he was suffocating under his own thoughts. He tried to get some air into his lungs, his breathing becoming panicked. He couldn't breath. His vision was starting to swim, black dots dancing on the edges. He tried to hold on to hope, but it didn't work. Someone was talking to him softly, but he couldn't hear it. In his mind Grian kept dying over and over again, calling for him as death took a hold.
He knew he was imagining things, he knew he was right in the middle of a panic attack, but all that knowledge didn’t help him, when it felt like he was unable to breathe, unable to hold on to reality.
He tried. He needed to calm down. Just breathe. When had breathing become this hard?
He felt something solid against his back, the warm feeling spreading from his back through his whole body and suddenly the warmth spread all around, filling every nook and cranny of his being, as if a protective layer had just surrounded his very soul. And then Cub’s voice was right in his mind, calm and caring, though with a hint of the same pain that Scar felt..
“I’m here. You’re not alone. You’re never alone.”
Scar slowly nodded, the movement jerky, his body still shaking as he tried to gasp for air.
“C-cub… Can’t…” Cub made a shushing sound and Scar felt arms around him, hands resting on his abdomen as the voice in his mind sounded again.
“Calm down. We’ll get through this together. I need you to get through this. I  can’t have you lose it now. Please.”
His voice sounded so full of pain and guilt and weirdly enough it helped Scar calm down as he took a shaking breath. Cub needed him. Cub was there for him. Cub was in pain.
Another breath. His heart was racing. He leant back into the touch. He could feel Cub’s chest moving and matched his breathing to the calm rise and fall.
“You better?”, came the rumbly familiar voice, this time not in his mind but from right behind him and he nodded.
“Sorry”, he said, his voice sounding as weak as he felt at the moment. “I…”
“It’s okay. We’re both hurting.”
“And yet you didn’t lose it like this. I’m so-”
“Don’t. We both felt it. We just handle these emotions a bit differently. Doesn’t mean it’s not completely normal to panic. We just… We need to keep going, Scar. If there’s any hope-” Cub stopped, his voice tight with pain and Scar could feel a tremble against his back. He certainly wasn’t the only one feeling this. “If there’s any hope, I don’t want to be too late. He’s not dead until we’ve seen his body.”
Scar nodded and with the help of Cub he slowly stood up, both of them hand in hand.
“Let’s keep going. Together.”, Scar said, wiping away his tears with his free hand and Cub nodded.
“Together.”
~*~
Grian awoke with a start. In a split second everything that had happened came back to him. The fight, the potion and then… Nothing.
It was dark all around him. Where was he? He couldn’t even see his own body in the complete darkness. And it was quiet. Too quiet. The only sound he could hear was his own beating heart. It echoed loudly in his ears.
Next came the realisation that he was floating. He wasn’t touching any floor. It was like he was in an endless void. He stretched out his hand in front of him, trying to summon a magical light, but the moment the magic travelled to his fingertips it felt like it was sucked out of him again, floating into the void.
And that’s when it hit him. He knew this place. He’d been here before. A cold wave washed over his body. He had tried to erase every memory of this place. Nightmare after nightmare keeping him awake. He had tried so hard. He had wanted to forget it with every fibre of his being. His heart started beating faster as the dread settled in.
“No...”, he whispered, but it was like the void swallowed those words as well, leaving him in deafening silence. He pressed his eyes close, reaching for the bond in his mind. It was like following a threat. If he only could feel Scar or Cub… If only he had the feeling that he wasn’t completely alone, he would be able to pull through. He’d be able to get out of here without breaking this time. He only needed to feel them, their love, their warmth, their-
Suddenly Grian’s eyes snapped open and his breathing got more laboured. The bond. It was broken. As if someone had burned the threat that had been connecting them, severing him from the Convex. No. He couldn’t do this. Not again. He couldn’t pull through again. He’d rather die than have to stay here again. Tears trailed down Grian’s face, his heart rate speeding up even more. He could feel the panic washing over him and tried to calm himself. But it was hard to concentrate on something else when you were floating in an endless black void.
He wouldn’t break.
They wanted him to break.
He couldn’t break.
He needed to stay sane until he was saved… Would they even be able to save him? Because if not he didn’t know if he had the energy to escape this world again.
Time passed differently here. Grian didn’t know if it had been hours, days or weeks. He felt empty like the void around him. His tears had long since run dry. He had tried again and again and again to feel anything through the burned bond, to repair it somehow. Every desperate attempt had made him fall deeper into a seemingly endless hole until he had just given up.
And then the void suddenly disappeared. He was kneeling on the floor. He could feel the floor. He slowly opened his eyes, raising his head. He was in a giant throne room and sitting there on the throne…
“Hello, Grian. I missed you. I’m glad your little game of hide and seek is over now. It is over, isn’t it, little star?”
Grian felt his heart be gripped by dread as his mind flashed back to the endless void and he nodded, body shaking. There used to be a small voice in his mind, before he had fled. It had told him to stay strong, to resist. Grian tried to reach out to that voice, to a place inside of him that could give him the strength to stand tall and not fall. He couldn’t find even the tiniest whisper in his mind and he let his head hang low.
“Yes, ma’am. I’m so sorry. Don’t make me go back.” His voice was shaking and he knew he was starting to panic again. His eyes darted around the room that had stayed unchanged since the last time he had been here: black walls and pillars, decorated with gold. The walls seemed to press in on him after being in the dark for so long.
His eyes wandered back to the throne and next to it he could see Ex, looking at him with a mixture of curiosity and amusement. The fact that he was still here, probably meant that not much time had passed in the real world while he had been in the void.
“Oh, little star. You know I’m not doing this to be mean to you. I don’t enjoy it. You leave me no other choice.”
Grian’s eyes snapped back to the Watcher on the throne. She looked just like Grian remembered her. Even sitting she was taller than Ex next to her. Pale skin dressed in white robes. Her long silver hair was flowing in curls all around her, moved by some invisible wind. Her eyes were covered with a white piece of fabric tied around her head, but a golden glow still shone through from underneath. Her magic, even contained, was still so strong. Grian had never managed to do much while his magic was suppressed.
“I’m sorry, Atlas. I promise I won’t do it again. I won’t...” He hung his head again. No he wouldn’t do it again. It was useless. Resistance was futile. He had just ended up back where he began.
“You sure? I heard you made some friends, little star. Some very special friends. You really caused me some trouble coming back bonded. And to some blessed by the vex nonetheless.” Her voice got even more disapproving in the end. “Thankfully I was able to get rid of that little mistake of yours.” She smiled gently, almost motherly. “But I’m glad you made friends again, little star… and special friends at that. You do remember what happens to your friends, when you mess up, right, Grian?”
Grian’s eyes widened and he froze. The threat was clear even when her voice was still so light.
“I will start with those two vex boys who have tainted you.”
Grian jumped to his feet, eyes wide, heart beating high in his throat.
“No!”
“No?”
Grian was shaking. His mind flashing to moments he had spent with Cub and Scar. Every shared kiss, every fond look, every longing touch.
“No”, Grian repeated less forcefully this time. “Don't hurt them.”
Grian expected anger. He expected to be punished, to be sent back into the void for years maybe. He knew he shouldn’t be standing up like this. But Cub and Scar? He wouldn’t let them get hurt, he couldn’t.
There was no anger. Grian almost jumped out of his skin when he instead heard an amused chuckle. Atlas was laughing, a gleeful smile on her lips. And it scared Grian even more than any anger ever could.
“Oh, little star. I really want to meet these friends of yours. I think the last time you dared to speak up like that was with that other mortal boy… What was his name again?” She stopped, looking at Grian, tilting her head a bit as if thinking, though they both knew that was a charade. “Ah, yes. Taurtis.”
Grian flinched violently at the mention of the name, his mind going back to images of Taurtis’ body, broken and bleeding in front of him.
“You cried so pretty that day. It was the day you swore loyalty to us. It was the day you received your mark. Such a joyful day for Watcherkind. A pity that boy is gone. But now those vex will help you take the next step on your destined path. You see, there was never anything you could have done to change your path. Your little game just brought you back to your true destiny.“
Grian didn’t want to hear this. He didn’t want to hear of the old prophecies again. Prophecies that made the Watchers rip him from his home in Evo. Without those he would have been able to keep living his mortal and peaceful life. He wished the oracles had never seen something great inside of him, he wished the Watchers would have never taken interest in him.
“Don’t hurt them…”, Grian repeated, sounding far less determined. He sounded as lost as he felt deep down. “I’ll-” He swallowed, panic rising in his throat. He wasn’t prepared for this. He really wasn’t. He had been on the run for so long. He had built himself a life. He had thought- He had hoped he was safe.
“If you promise not to hurt them I’ll obey.”
“Very well. I knew you’d come around, little star. You’ll see the light soon as well. It’s your destiny after all.”
Atlas snapped and then there were hurried steps. Grian looked to the side, a figure dressed in all black flowing garments hurrying over. A young man, almost a boy, no older than twenty, his feet and hands were chained together. One of the Watcher’s attendants, which really was a glorified term for slaves. Grian’s mind kept flashing back to seeing Taurtis in those same loose clothes being shoved around and he needed to take a shaking breath to calm down. Taurtis was no longer here. He was long gone.
The slave stopped in front of Grian, never once looking into his eyes, holding out a little box and Grian took it. He already knew what was inside and he knew he wouldn’t be able to stop this. It was just another way to keep him under control.
The young man hurried off and Grian opened the box, looking inside, a stone cold feeling gripping his chest as he looked at it. Two plain silver metal bands, the same as last time. He felt bile rise in his throats when he looked closer and saw the scratches in the metal on the inner side where he had tried to get them to come off the last time.
“Little star.”
The warning was clear. He wasn’t allowed to stall. Atlas expected him to put them on now. The box felt heavy in his grip even when it weighed nothing at all. He took out the first band and slipped it over his right wrist. It immediately tightened, a constellation of stars glowing on the metal. Atlas’ constellation. It was like a mark, piece of evidence of who he belonged to.
He looked back up to Atlas who had an ecstatic expression on her face. A smile so wide it edged on creepy. Grian couldn’t hold that gaze and he turned back quick, slowly slipping on the other bracelet. Both of them glowed the same and Grian could feel it deep into his magical core. He had handed over ownership of himself. He was back under the Watcher’s control. It was over.
“Ex was it, right? I have one more task for you… Bring me the Vex boys.”
Grian’s gaze snapped up, his eyes widening and he felt anger rising inside of him, his magic coming up to the surface on its own, reacting to the strong emotions, to the need to defend what was his.
“You promised-”
“Sleep, little star.”
The stars on the metal bands started glowing. Grian tried to fight, he really did, but it was a losing battle. His legs gave in and he fell to his knees, but he barely felt the impact. He called for his magic, to protect him, to help him. He couldn’t let anything happen to Cub and Scar. His magic flared up, stronger than before, the glow of the bracelets getting weaker.
Atlas looked at him, seeming a bit annoyed, which was a rare sight. And when she spoke next it wasn’t only her voice he could hear, he could feel the magic behind her words.
“Sleep.”
And Grian’s world turned black again.

Got any cub / scar / grian polyship hcs? :3c
coming right up nonnie! <3
Scar and Cub start dating a long while before they get together with Grian as well
Grian is the type to leave a "get off my server" note when he doesn't know how to handle having a crush
on the other hand he craves attention, so when he starts catching feeling for the Convex boys he will try to pick fights with them constantly
I'm not saying Grian founded Sahara solely to get Cub's and Scar's attention but like... yes he did
Mumbo and Iskall support their disaster gay friend in his crazy plan as best as they can
Cub and Scar do enjoy this rivalry dynamic and flirt with Grian whenever they get the chance to, not realizing how big of a deal that is to him
probably one of the other Architechs has to have a talk with them and explain that Grian geniuenly is trying to pick them up, in his own weird and chaotic way
they talk it through and decide they both want to give Grian a chance
Cub and Scar know each other as well as two people can, so throwing a completely unpredictable man into their relationship sure does spice things up
initially Grian is a bit positively overwhelmed and shy, he just can't believe he's really dating both of his crushes
Scar and Cub find this endearing and will purposefully make him flustered
little do they know, once Grian gains enough confidence he will be the one to make them blush almost everyday
Grian starts calling Cub his baby bear, and Scar quickly picks up on that nickname
Cub acts like he's disappointed but secretly loves it
Grian is a total gremlin, somehow both hogging the sheets and spreading himself across the bed at night
PoultryMan is basically a bootleg Vex and acts as a sidekick in their prank missions
the three of them have so much fun: doing Disney marathons during sleepless sleepovers, playing golf together, baking cakes, dancing around ConCorp, and much much more
Grian and Cub bond over wanting to give villagers a good life, possibly they start a server-wide campaign that turns out to be a huge success
while Scar and Cub have always been really touchy with each other, Grian was basically touch starved his whole life, so he will lose his mind everytime he's being hugged (which is a lot of times)
Cub has trouble with verbally expressing emotions so he shows the love he has for his boyfriends with actions rather than words
Scar is always emotionally avaible and has high empathy, so he's great at sensing when something's wrong and comforting the other two
Grian is very open ab his feelings and will gush to Cub and Scar ab how much he adores them and list every single thing he loves ab them
together they are a force to be reckoned with on the server, and they are more than happy with that

(For theme)None of the hermits excepted Grian to know how to cook, especially his lovers Scar and Cub.
But when his sister, Pearl joins and insists that he should cook for the Christmas party, they were sceptical at first. Then he brings out this talent out of no where?!?! Including baking?!
Where was this talent for all the years he’s been there??? And why has he never thought to bring it up?
-🫵
Grian doesn't see it as a big deal. Cooking is cooking, and if means Pearl doesn't do it then he'll take the sacrifice. Especially if it gets him out of washing up.
Now they somehow need to encourage Grian to cook more, because they aren't missing out on this!

the Convexian dynamic i’d like to see more of is Cub and Scar acting like scary creatures towards Grain only to find out he’s worse
like they’re doing their little fae vex thing trying to be charming yet scary, and Grian, who usually plays along, just says “screw it, i’m done”, shows off his more biblically accurate angel looking form, pinning them both down to the ground with one hand while scanning his catch with a spam of eyes
Cub and Scar, who are so used to “having” the upper hand, start to whimper and squirm, but they can not escape...and Grian enjoys watching them squirm

Let’s get down to Business (Scar/Grian/Cub)
This was a bit rushed because I had the idea to do this too late, but I’m still happy with it.
This is a gift for my dear friend @princepigeon Happy Birthday! Stay amazing! I heard you were craving for some Grivex so here you go!
~
Grian stood inside the Concorp Club and looked around a little hesitant. Sure, he had been officially invited and Mumbo and Iskall had both urged him to go to maybe find out some secrets, but it still felt weird, like he didn't belong here. He didn't even know why they had explicitly stated that they'd only talk to him in matter of business. Sure, he was the CEO of the company, but it was no secret, that he really wasn't really that knowledgeable in the way Sahara worked. And he'd need his partners okay before proposing any deals. All he was good for was doing advertising campaigns and causing chaos.
"Grian! So nice to meet you!"Grian turned around and froze. Scare was walking up to him, wearing swimming trunks, a coat loosely draped over his shoulders. He was looking over the rim of his sunglasses and smiling warmly. Grian couldn't help himself but let his gaze travel over the sun-kissed skin, feeling the heat rising to his cheeks.  Oh yeah and that was the other thing, that let him have no confidence in holding this meeting instead of Mumbo or Iskall. His dumb ass had managed not to fall for one, but two of their competitors at the same time. How was he supposed to concentrate on anything if all he could think about was kissing Scar or Cub or both? And why the hell was Scar dressed like that? That made it even less possible to concentrate. He suddenly felt way too overdressed in his suit.
"Scar?", he squeaked out, his voice unnaturally high. He cleared his throat before continuing to speak. "I thought you wanted to have a meeting with me. This doesn't look like business attire."
Scar stopped walking and looked at him in confusion. "Meeting? Business? What are you talking about?"
Oh god. Had Mumbo and Iskall been playing a joke on him? Maybe he hadn't been invited over here after all and was trespassing. But why would Scar have been so happy to see him if that were the case? He hadn’t just looked happy but completely delighted. What was going on here?
"The letter you guys sent to Sahara. You guys had important stuff to talk about concerning our relationship and wanted me to come over so we could talk about it. It sounded so formal, I thought it was something important. Please tell me it was really you who sent the letter."
Scar looked annoyed now, taking off his sunglasses and rubbing the bridge of his nose. "No it wasn't me."
Grian felt his heart sink, but before he could turn around to leave, forgetting this ever happened, Scar continued speaking. "Why did I let him talk me into letting him write that? Why didn't I read it again?", Scar muttered disgruntled and then raised his voice. "Cub, honey?! Get your ass out here, now! Dinner will have to wait!"
There was clanging of pans and a few seconds later, Cub stepped out, the sleeves of his shirt were rolled up and he was wearing an apron, obviously coming straight out of the kitchen. Oh god, Grian must have interrupted their date time by the looks of it.
"I'm... I'm sorry. I guess", Grian said hurriedly. He had no clue what was going on at the moment. He only knew that he had done something really wrong. "I shouldn't have come here. I should have checked in with you first! I didn't want to bother you and-"
Scar held up a hand in his direction, making him shut up at once with just one look. "We are not done here. I'll get to you once I'm done with my stupid ass husband." With that Scar had already turned back to Cub, folding his arms in front of his body, tapping his foot onto the floor impatiently. "Care to explain why Grian is here, thinking we are about to have a business meeting? What the hell did you do? The instructions I gave to you were pretty clear. How could you mess this up?"
Cub looked from Scar to Grian and back again, realisation dawning on his face and he looked at Scar almost sheepishly. "I think, I might have phrased our request a little too formally."
"You think? Look at him!" Scar gestured in Grian's direction, sounding absolutely pissed at his husband. But the gesture made Grian look down at himself. He had felt pretty good about the way he had dressed up until now. He had been so ready to show them his serious business side and make Mumbo and Iskall proud of him. He might have also hoped that those two would appreciate the way he looked – maybe even call him good looking. But it had just been a stupid fantasy after all and reality was catching up to him now. "This is an absolute disaster, Cub! It is the worst way this could have gone! You ruined the evening!"
Grian let his gaze fall to the floor and sighed. This was dumb. He clearly wasn't welcome here. Why did he even stay? Would Scar yell at him as well for misunderstanding what Cub wrote? What else had that letter even been for if it wasn't about them having a business meeting?
"You are overreacting, honey." Cub's voice was calm, but Grian could hear the strain in it. "It's not the end of the world. It's just a misunderstanding."
"Something like that shouldn't have happened! He shouldn't be here thinking we are having some dumb business meeting! If I had known it would end like that, I would have written the letter."
Grian took a step back, feeling so small under the weight of Scar's words. He had been right all along. He shouldn't have come here. Mumbo and Iskall would have probably handled this better. They would know what to say in a situation like this and still turn it into something profitable. Grian didn't know what to do or say. He had been looking forward to this and now? With every other hermit he probably would have made he joke, but he seemed to be unable to find any funny words right now.
"Oh yeah?" Cub raised his voice a little now too. It was like Grian didn't exist anymore. Maybe Scar wouldn't notice if he left. But then again if he tried, he might direct his anger at Grian. "And what would you have written? Something really crude that would have him running before we even started? You would have ruined any chances for us. I at least got him to come over."
"Because he thinks we are going to have a meeting! Fuck you, Cub. The last thing I want to do is talk business with someone like Grian."
And that did it. Grian suddenly felt so numb, but he wouldn't let that get to him. He suddenly stood straight, raising his head and standing tall and proud. He didn't have to take this. They had no right to talk about him like that. He wouldn’t just stand here and take that beating.
"Grian..." Scar took a step in his direction at the same time as Grian took a step back. "Don't leave, Grian. I didn't mean it like that."
"I'll leave now. You two keep fighting without me. Apparently I'm the last person you'd want to have around. Sorry for bothering you with my presence.”
Scar and Cub were startled at his cold voice and looked at him wide-eyed, almost as if they had forgotten about his presence.
Grian laughed, but it sounded hollow in his own ears. Damn if he had his Elytra on he would have been already high in the sky and away, but no he had left that home in favour of his outfit looking nice. Had him hoping for even one tiny compliment from them been too much to ask for?
Scar turned to look at Cub with a panicked expression, but Grian turned around. He didn't care. He just wanted to leave with the dignity he had left. Maybe go straight to Mumbo’s place and cry his eyes out.
"From now on please refrain from contacting me. Do all of your business with Mumbo and Iskall", Grian replied, doing his best to keep the pain out of his voice. But who could blame him? He had always enjoyed Scar and Cub's company, even when they were on opposing sites in the Shopping District. Every time they were nice to him he could dream about their relationship turning into something more.
The second he reached the exit of the Club an iron gate lowered down, blocking his way out. He turned around again and glared at Cub who had his hand on a lever.
"Are you two serious?" Grian looked at them, fury in his eyes. "First you make it pretty clear that you don't want me here, and now you don't want to let me leave?"
"We want you here!", Scar protested, hurrying up to Grian, his robe slipping of his shoulders and lying in the dust. Grian kept his eyes focused on that piece of fabric. He crossed his hands in front of his body. He didn't want to be here anymore. He just wanted to leave.
"Grian, please."
There was a sigh and more steps and then Cubs voice, so calm again, spoke up. "I know my dear husband can sometimes be... a bit over the top. He is a little diva-" There was an annoyed huff by Scar, but Cub chose to ignore it "-but he really didn't mean it that way. And he is right. It is kind of my fault that there was a misunderstanding."
There was a hand on Grian's shoulder, he flinched and the hand retreated again at once. "Grian..." Scar sounded so hurt that Grian couldn't help himself but look up again into Scar's face. His eyes were wide and filled with sadness and guilt. "I'm really sorry. I just... I was nervous all day and looking forward to this and I kind of got carried away there. Let's just say this is not what I imagined to happen."
"Don't start again, honey."
"Well neither did I...", Grian grumbled "And I still don't get what it's all about."
Scar sighed before muttering quietly. "I knew I should have been the one to write the letter."
"Yes, yes. But if I had written it there would have been no misunderstandings! I would have just flat out told him that we want to fuck him."
Grian's eyes widened and he felt frozen in place, his brain almost unable to compute the words he just heard. Had Scar said what Grian thought he had?
"Scar!", Cub protested, "Don't say it like that! That's why I wrote that damn letter! You would have created a whole other misunderstanding."
"But it's just the truth."
They kept on bickering, right in front of Grian, but Grian wasn't listening anymore. He just couldn't think clearly. The only thing inside his head was what Scar had said. This meeting hadn't been about business at all. They had invited him over for... For what? To have sex with him. So him agreeing to this made them think he was interested. No wonder Scar had been so annoyed. No wonder he had been dressed like that when Grian had come. He had been expecting pleasure and Grian had come for business.
"I'd still like to leave.", Grian finally spoke up quietly, interrupting their bickering. Both of them stopped and looked at him and Scar wasn't really able to hide his disappointment as well as Cub.
"That's... That's perfectly fine. Sorry you had to come over all the way for this."
Grian nodded and he looked at the ground once more, unable to look them into their faces. A little voice inside kept telling him to accept the offer. He'd never have a chance like that again. That was his one shot to feel loved by the guys he had a crush on. For one night – for this one time – he could pretend that they were in love with him, that they wanted him to be part of their marriage.
"But thanks I guess. For liking me enough to invite me into your bedroom, I guess. I'm just... You guys are nice and amazing, but I just don't think..." Grian could hear his voice crack and he cleared his throat before continuing on. "I'm not really interested in casual hook-ups like that."
"See. Told you, you would cause misunderstandings too, babe."
Grian looked at Cub in confusion who just chuckled a gentle smile on his face that got Grian to feel a warm sensation in his chest.
"Grian. We want no business meetings and no hook up. Me and Scar want you to join our relationship. This was supposed to be a date."
Grian's heart started racing like crazy all of the sudden. His face felt unbelievably hot. "W-what?", he asked, a stuttering mess.
Scar now smiled as well and it made his whole face look even more handsome. "We like you, Grian. Both of us. When you said you'd come over, we thought you might be interested in us as well. It's okay if you are not. I mean... I guess I reacted a little badly back there. I just was disappointed and-"
Grian didn't let Scar finish that sentence, grabbing him and pulling him into a kiss. It was soft and didn't last long. When Grian broke the kiss he turned his head to look at Cub and amazingly enough Cub seemed to understand what he wanted, because he came closer and pressed his lips to Grian's. It only took a few seconds for Grian to be embraced into two pair of arms and he had never felt better about it.
"I guess that makes your answer to our proposal pretty clear", Cub muttered jokingly and Grian couldn't help but giggle.
"I accept. And by that I mean, I'd like to try the dating thing. I... I've had a crush on the two of you for the longest time, I just never thought it would come to anything."
Scar made a cooing noise and Grian blushed even harder. They let him out of the embrace only for Scar to take his hand and pull him to the table at the side of the pool. Grian smiled brightly, taking off his blazer and throwing it to the side.
And when he sat between Cub and Scar, both looking at him with loving gazes, he couldn’t think of a more perfect moment than this.

Note
Grivex but grian is an allay which makes the already chaotic vex duo scar and cub into an even more chaotic trio
A lot of people would expect the trio to dislike each other. Vex are very territorial, but Grian is part of Scar and Cub's territory. He weaseled his way in, and they'd be very upset if they lose him!
Grian is also, somehow, just as chaotic as the pair. Just because he likes collecting things or dancing to tunes doesn't mean he can't create some carnage!
They all share a sweet tooth, though, which makes dinners very easy.
