literally by FAR the biggest problem about totk is that it REFUSES to connect to botw in any way beyond reusing the same map and character models, and even taking the things botw had established and ruin them entirely

BAM weird sonau dog thing that remains completely unexplained and out of nowhere eight heroine myster- BAM just some guy long gone sonau peopl- BAM here they are and they have zero connection to the ones of botw mystical dragons gracing the skies with their presence- BAM probably some dude who ate a magic pebble once strange mystical nature god you could rarely encounter in one specific spot and the area was made to feel utteraly unsettling but also divine- BAM now hes everywhere and only serves you as a shorthand for man pointing at cave the strange energy all shiekah tech was powered with with certain locations being ones where alot of it was concentrated including beneath hyrule castle clearly stating that somethings up with that- welp theres evil guy donw there but he has zero connection to all that lol

the whole shiekah tech thing, i just- WHY???? LIKE THAT??? there was so much stuff in botw that seemed deliberately placed that there IS more to it and now it all vanished and nothing of that mattered??? i saw a video of someone comparing certain places directly and on some where towers literally broke away tons of debris where just like .. sanded back down like nothing ever happened???; the fuking mechanism of how the towers and shrines and the pillars around the castle worked AND WHAT THE BOTW BOSS ARENA WAS ACTUALLY FOR?? its all gone and replaced with dirt; tHE ANCIENT FUCKING FURNANCES UTTERLY GONE AND REPLACED WITH ROCKS HUH???? so nothing of all that talk about their mystery and mechanism mattered???? the luminous stoens and its connection to spirits and how concentrated spiritual energy might have been what powered the tech- like you could connect things, and they made SENSE, so much sense that that seemed like it was intentionally setting up- only for it all to be just GONE?? to literally say lol it all vanished and that we shouldnt worry about it- like what the FUCK (and it also AGAIN doesnt make sense in itself bc WE SEE GUARDIAN PARTS in the towers, and some parts of them too are made of clearly shiekah tech stuff so it cant all have vanished- all their mystery doesnt matter bc idk it just works i guess lol and its not even called shiekah tech at any point either its just there and also not lol-)

(and even the smaller things like .. where the fuck does link live if everyone treats him like a goddamn stranger in the town you had to buy a house in botw for it to not be demolished and now that house is there but its not yours and noone knows you??? sth i personalyl found strange too that dumsda, the guy you help build an entire town, taburasa, had a very specific talking quirk i loved, and its all just gone in totk too, he talks like any other person all of the sudden

also at the end of botw finally being reunited with zelda and giving you the taste of being in the game WITH her at the same time in the intro to totk- WOOP away she goes! shes your pretty prize at the end and nothing more, what a way to disrespect her and her character..)

imagine if majoras mask didnt have the opening like it has and it otherwise stayed the same and they tried to tell you that its a direct sequel happening exactly where ocarina of time happened in the same world, zelda who?? ganondorf who??? things seem weird and off? lol dont worry about that :)) that would be weird and not make any sense at all now would it??

1) He did NOT try to kill Tim. If he had wanted to, he would have.

2) no matter how DC artist draw Jason, don’t forget he’s a 19 y/o fighting a 16 y/o. This is something between an angry teenage fistfight over who has the bigger one and two deeply damaged boys blaming each other for things neither of them are responsible for. 

And for the love of god stop demonizing Jason for fighting a younger opponent when that is literally what all of Robin’s opponents do. Yes, every Robin is just a child fighting adults, either put up with the suspense of disbelief, or if you’re gonna extend sympathy to one of the Robins for having been brutalized by an adult, then maybe that should be fucking Jason who was actually killed by the Joker and not “little helpless Timmy”.

You’re doing both characters a disservice by portraying them like that.

there's no way quidditch is actually fun imo. like i know the seeker thing and how illogical it is has been talked to death but the whole overall concept is so stupid. imagine you're a world class chaser and you're amazing and everything you do is invalidated (or validated) by the performance of one specific player who has nothing else to do with the rest of the players. you have good stats but your win record means absolutely nothing.

there's little strategy; a good defense depends entirely the keeper, which is another way all the positions are just completely disconnected from each other. they could all be playing different sports and nothing would make a difference. beaters are there for Violence ("ethically mean-spirited"). god there are so many bludger moments in fic (and in the books too tbh) that are so dramatic and injurious and it's literally just the beaters playing their stupid position the way they're meant to lol.

i know the reasonings behind this are like: jkr fundamentally doesn't understand sports in even basic ways; the seeker position has to be for The Most Special Guy and that has to be harry always because he wouldn't be Special Enough if the entire game didn't ride on his shoulders; jkr is a bad writer. very annoying that this huge insidious piece of worldbuilding is so bad!!!

Listening to a Dr Who podcast (not one anyone here has recommended to me, in fact I think I heard about it through a tumblr post,) and it's reminding me why I almost never listen to Dr Who podcasts or watch Dr Who youtube videos. It's because I just can't stand hearing so much objectively wrong information. Maybe it's due to Doctor Who being such a large and long-lived franchise, I know that I can misremember and get things muddled. But surely if you're publishing something you'd want to double check that you're not confidently emphasising incorrect facts about even basic things... and yet I feel like I see it with surprising frequency. It drives me crazy, please get a fact checker.

Someone has to have written meta about how important the 1st incense burner chapter was for wangxian and how ir gave Lan wangji the catharsis he needed to stop being ashamed of his sexual desires after spending years punishing himself convinced his feelings were wrong and shameful because wy could never feel the same way about him. That the ugly feelings he had were his fault and how that made his guilt about his parents even worse

And then having Wei Ying the man he loves see them in all their raw and shameful glory, but instead of recoiling away in disgust wwx accepts them and lwj, showing him how lwj and his desires are not shameful, that wwx gets it he understands and he's into it too...and then the dream changes and becomes one of empowering lwj and giving him a chance to reclaim those teenage desires in a way that makes he feel good for once

how powerful that moment was for lwj who must have had a part of him that even in adulthood told him his teenage feelings were wrong, to finally come to the realization that he was just a kid and it's okay because those intrusive thoughts didn't make him a bad person. That even now they don't make him a bad person. That he can want and desire and be safe to explore those feelings and they aren't ugly or shameful they just exist as they are, that he can take them ans make them into something beautiful

Please tell me someone has written a better more cohesive version of this because my irl bff just finished the novel and hates lwj and I cannot handle that pleaseeeee

please twitter pleeeeeease please learn the difference between what it means to be latino in the united states versus in latinoamerica they’re completely different things with their own unique cultures and communities!!!! a first generation american born in el paso texas to two immigrant mexican parents whose first language was spanish and who spent their entire life growing up in mexican communities is a latino. a second generation puerto rican living in new york who has to translate for their abuela whenever they go to the doctors office because she never did learn english is a latino. a brazilian immigrant living in miami who can’t go home to their country because they immigrated illegally is gonna have latino children regardless of whether or not they ever step foot in brazil because being latino in the united states is not the same thing as being latino in latin america and i wish people would understand this. in the united states it does not matter whether you’re first generation or second or mixed. if your last name is gonzalez, if your first name is josé, if your parents speak with an accent, if your first language was spanish, if the kids in elementary school made fun of your skin color and your eyebrows and your body hair the white kids are gonna treat you like you’re different. the white teachers are gonna mispronounce your name and never bother to correct themselves because they think it’s funny that your name is ethnic and they don’t care. you get older and you realize it doesn’t matter how hard you try to fit in, because you could like all the right music and wear all the right clothes and watch all the right tv shows (none of that telenovela stuff) and you’d still be latino to them. they don’t care if your family is from mexico or colombia or argentina or brazil or puerto rico or honduras because it does not matter. you’re from a latin american country. your parents were born and raised elsewhere. you’re not welcome here. whether you like it or not the united states will put you in a box. the box is labeled “latino”. and it doesn’t matter how long your family has been in the USA, you can never leave that box. that’s what latinoamericans fail to understand. that’s what latinoamericans cannot understand. race and ethnicity work differently in the united states than they do outside of it and i’m so so tired of people being purposefully dense just because they don’t wanna claim the silly united states latinos who don’t understand what it’s ACTUALLY like to be from their country. shut up. shut up. let people have community jesus christ. signed, someone who was born in latin america but who lived in the US for years.

correct me if I'm wrong but I was just thinking about the roykeeley in season two of it all, and that fight where Keeley loses it at Roy for being clingy because she can't handle how close they are now that they work in the same building but like,,, Keeley and Roy would have been working in the same building while dating for a good chunk of season one as well.

She started working at Nelson Road before Jamie was even sent back to Manchester. They would of had months working in the same building, so either Roy has always been that clingy and Keeley just didn't mind at first, which I found doubtful given that it only takes her like a week to blow up at him for it in season two, or Roy being clingy is an out of character thing for him to be doing that should've raised some kind of red flag to friends and loved ones that I feel like from what we know about Keeley as a character would've been treated with more empathy than she actually had in the show.

Hi, Emily! Sorry to bother you with this but what are your thoughts on Nightwing's new villain Heartless? Like, do you like him, despise him, think he's interesting or... something...? I confess I haven't read the new series of baby boy Dick but I've seen pictures of this dudebro and I'm????? kiiiiiiiiiiiiinda intrigued but not as much as I could?????

I'm kind of indifferent towards him.

He was brought out of his nonverbal state after witnessing Dick's parents fall to their deaths. He reveled in their deaths, and because of that, he kind of has an obsession with the demise of Dick's family. Er maybe not an obsession but... their deaths filled him with life. Using his inherited money, he intentionally had parts of his body amputated and replaced to make him more like a cyborg. Now he goes around ripping people's hearts out of their chests because he loves the thrill of the hunt as well as the fear from his victims.

The fact that he was there the night that Dick's parents died is kind of annoying because there have already been quite a few people/rogues who happened to see the Flying Graysons perform. But eh. It is what it is.

I think TT dropped the ball a bit by introducing Heartless and showcasing him as a menace that needed to be stopped immediately, but then he put Heartless on the back burner and had Dick put all of his attention on stopping Blockbuster instead. Now I know Blockbuster had to be involved at some point in order for Heartless to rip out his massive heart, but by shifting the focus to Dick and Blockbuster so early on, TT took away all the tension and sense of urgency that could've been built up between Dick and Heartless.

Dick's lack of urgency in taking down Heartless made Heartless seem like less of a priority, and therefore, less of a threat. That idea was reinforced when Dick realized that Heartless had ripped out Blockbuster's heart, but instead of putting all his attention into going after Heartless, he went to go babysit a mobster and have sex with Babs.

Later, Heartless broke into a prison and sicced all the prisoners on Bludhaven. Did Dick end up going after him after Heartless fled? Nope. A whole new storyline involving another villain started up instead.

So, yeah, Heartless could be more interesting if he didn't keep popping up just long enough for Dick to be like, "Oh damn!! That heart stealing dude!" and then having Dick forget about him 10 seconds later.
