Red is a gentle old guy. His heart is heavy and sad. He knows what has happened. A few days of comfort and loving he will feel more like himself. We spoke with Dr. A and we are able to give him pain management tonight. He is hurting and uncomfortable. Just having pain meds alone may help him feel better soon. He does have horribly infected ears. He will get antibiotics soon. Our guys tonight were very gentle with him and kind. They know when one of their own is hurting. Red and Jake seemed to gravitate to each other. They are forming a bond already. Red wanted to sit outside for awhile tonight so some of the gang just stood and sat with him. We could learn a lot from dogs. Their compassion and ability to connect instantly always is amazing. 🧘🏽‍♀️ There’s always a grieving period, no matter what unforeseen, unfortunate mishap may have occurred to cause a dent in our path. When undergoing change, your mind and body will demand to be heard, it’s human nature. . I am all in for someone taking their time out to truly heal rather than to rush onto a sense of recovery. I mean we have enough packed up trauma to be collecting and hoarding new ones. 🤷🏽‍♀️ . Some ppl manage to do it both, find balance in terms of healing while also taking the appropriate steps to move forward. That is the most ideal reaction, and mainly comes with knowing that so much is out of our control, finding/feeling gratitude regardless and knowing one self. . But some other times, in our weakest moments (and I think we’ve all been there) we have allowed ourselves to dwell, sometimes unnecessarily in the hurt and pain it brings. We tend to BS ourselves, fall into a pile of excuses and so on; which some might even enjoy.
