Game of Thrones 7x02 - Stormborn
I love this moment in Stormborn right before he abandons ship. I think everyone pretty much knows that even though it was an act of cowardice, it was the only thing he could have done. Had he come closer, Euron might have slit Yara’s throat and killed him and this way, it’s shameful to them, yes, but he lives to fight another day, to strategize how to get Yara back.
But that’s not my point. The point is, this moment alone where he takes a look around and knows that it’s the end. I think at this moment, Theon broke, and he became Reek again. Now, since he escaped got back to his family, he was trying so hard to be Theon Greyjoy again. To be his old self, try to go back to his old life. He tried to move on from the horrible shit that happened to him, to live with the mistakes he made. He was really trying. But then, this. In this moment, he was given a chance. A chance to prove that he was Theon Greyjoy again, to take what’s his, to not take shit from anyone. But he wasn’t. He wasn’t Theon Greyjoy anymore. And I don’t think it was just the notion of dying that made him realize it, but I think he knew it all along and it was as this moment that he realized it. He wasn’t Theon Greyjoy anymore. He was never going to be Theon Greyjoy again. He’s Reek now.

It’s been a tought week for Starks. I’m sure we can all agree on that. We stand 2 Hero Starks. Two true legends from both Marvel and Game of Thrones universe.
Tony Stark and Arya Stark.
Just a couple of hours since I watched Avengers:Endgame and wrote my many thoughts about that in my Avengers: Endgame point by point article, I found myself setting my alarm clock to early morning time (thank you time zones) and watching very anticipated battle of Winterfell.
Again just like 2 times before already as in my Lets reflect on Game of thrones s08e01 and Lets reflect on Game of thrones s08e02, I have many thoughts about this one episode as well.
Clearly many spoilers ahead.
No leaked episode this week. I’m 99% sure it’s because everyone was so occupied with endgame and couldn’t handle any more emotional trauma. We all tried to save some time I guess.
I don’t know if it’s because I was expecting some true horrors but I was left kind disappointed. Sadly I was expected to bawl my eyes out and sure I did some embarrassing screaming but that’s pretty much it. I feel like all of the deaths from episode 3 were very well expected.
It was still great episode…
BUT. In my opinion it was over too quickly. We’ve been introduced to Nigh kings army in first episode of Game of thrones. Eight seasons ago. Eight years ago. Everything has been leading up to this major fight between the living and the death. And it’s been done in 82 minutes? Ehm.
I hoped we could see the fight for at least 2 episodes.
Well to be precise I hoped we could SEE at least something.
I get that it’s the Long nigh and the darkness adds to suspense and to drama of the death. But JFK I had no idea what was going on most of the time. My site is pretty bad as it is and I literally got headache from squirting my eyes so hard to make some poor shapes and find out who’s dead and who’s kicking ass.
We can all agree that the lightning was terrible.
I just love the tons of memes about Game of thrones poor lightning that are swamping the internet. My favourites:
#gallery-0-5 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-5 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 33%; } #gallery-0-5 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-5 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
First of all, who thought it was a good idea to put Gendry on the front line?
He is a badass fighter yes, but still he’s no soldier, he’s the head smith and they have another war coming up literally right after this one is done. How could they make him so unguarded? They deal with ridiculous politics most of the time and yet they make this stupid strategic move?
Or maybe they know he’s Aryas boo now therefore his plot line is protected for future purposes.
Same goes for many other characters that you just knew wouldn’t die this episode.
Their stories are protected.
Like Jamie for example. I’m sure he’s gonna reunite with Cersei so no matter how dangerous situation he found himself in, he just walk right through. I couldn’t say the same about Brienne. She was knighted last episode and I believed that was the highlight her character could get. My heart stopped like 3 times when it almost looked like she was gone. Now we know for sure she’ll play important role in next 3 episodes otherwise the writers would get rid of her by now.
Podric is another one I was sure would die in this battle. Incorrectly. He’s the sweetest, incredible singer I love him and he has magic dick but can somebody please share with me what is his true purpose?
Lyanna Mormonts fate was sealed the moment she refused to stay in the crypts and Jorahs when he picked up that sword from Sam. Still my baby girls Lyanna is the best and she went out in big big big style.
Theons death was sort of useless this way. What did he expected to happen when he ran to the Night king like that? You can argue he was just trying to buy Arya some time or that he was fulfilling his destiny. But he had no idea Arya was coming and therefore his suicide mission left Bran on the open.
Theon Greyjos character developement was piece of art and he will be missed.
You remember last episode right ? The “crypts are the safest” were mentioned at least three times. Of course the death from the crypts would rise. So obvious. Next.
Danny and John. You can feel the tension and I can’t wait till we explore that further in next episodes. I get their plan was to stand back with dragons and wait for Night king himself to show up but how well could that have worked out? There were parts of the fight where I was screaming dracarys myself. Like when the living army pull back from the field and you had the dead standing on the other side of the fire , just standing there waiting, that was the perfect moment for dragons fire to strike. Such a wasted opportunity. I was so mad.
Both Danny and John played very small role in this episodes. Sure they did some badass shits like Danny fighting in combat besides never training or John having a screaming match with a dragon. I was expecting much more from both of them.
My humble prediction was that John or Danny or preferably both would kill the Night king. You know to fulfill the Azor Ahai prophecy. I never imagined it would be Arya and I feel kind of ashamed for underestimating her this way.
Looking back it makes perfect sense.
Although it’s kinda funny that everything John was able to talk about for so so so long was Night king and how they all need to fight him. And yet he doesn’t get to be the one to kill him but his baby sister does? Poor guy.
Sadly I don’t even remember Johns personality before the dead army so I’m really curious about that one.
Arya Stark single handle saved the world with the dagger that started it all. I was mesmerized by that library scene. How she moved so quietly to be even able to sneak up on the freaking Nigh king and his sidekicks.
And with an apparat concussion?
She really is that bitch and finally everyone sees that.
I adore the fuzz Arya is causing these days. First of all having consensual sex on Game of thrones, what clearly upsets many people. Secondly having the authenticity to fulfill the prophecy of Azor Ahai that people argue was not hers to do so.
Arya know death. She fought her, cheated her and even became her. I can’t stress enough how poetic that is.
We have seen so many characters in this show whose main purpose was to form Arya or to keep her alive like Beric or the Hound. Hound loosing his shit with the sight of fire, his one true fear, made this harsh bastard personality so humanly. I even felt so sorry for him.
I felt so nostalgic with the mention of Syrio. I’m so glad they changed his catch like from the book one “fear cuts deeper than the sword” to “what do we say to god of death? Not today.” Fits better.
What scares me now thought, is what happens with Arya now that the deed is done. I can’t dare to hope for happy ending for her even though I wish for my girl to finally rest.
Game of thrones once again made me realize how focused it is on female characters.
The best characters ever written has to be females of GOT. The sophistication, the bravery and the brains they all posses is unbelievable.
What would the men of GOT do without them this episode?
Men of GOT stood their ground and did great job. But it was the women of GOT that made a change.
Melisandre setting Dothrakis weapons on fire or setting the barrier on fire. Late reminding Arya of her true purpose. Sansa might seem useless this episode but she was ready to fight her way through her dead relatives. Daenerys’s strength and courage is unquestionable not only in this episode. Lyanna taking down a giant while being crushed to death !? Excuse me? And finally Arya the saviour of the world.
I just can’t wait for next episode when everybody finds out it was 18 years old girl who saved their asses.
Episode 4 looks promising.
Game of Thrones s08e03 reflection It's been a tought week for Starks. I'm sure we can all agree on that. We stand 2 Hero Starks.

Where can you see Peter Gadiot?
Non you devil you - appealing to my heart with such a question ! Peter is great - and as far as location goes, I could see him somewhere in Dorne, maybe house Martell ? I could also see him fitting in within the Stormlands or perhaps the Reach. If you want actual house suggestions from those regions let me know !
As far as connections go, he could work as a bloodrider for the khal, fit into any of our romantic wanted connections, be a companion for Azriel (and Niyah), or Dagmar Greyjo’s first mate.
Tumblr media
Since I feel like I’m starting to ramble, I would finally recommend looking at our roles and council pages, as they will  give you some suggestions outside of the typical lord and lady. If you need further suggestions please don’t hesitate to ask !

The snow crushed beneath your feet as your little feet ran in the snow. Your cheeks were red and you were covered from head to toe in warm furs. Your family had settled in the North months ago. Your father wanted to raise your family around people that had morals and values instead of violence and politics. So, he took your mother, your siblings, and you far north away from king’s Landing where the land was cold, but the people were warm.
Most of them anyways. The butcher’s boys were running after you with an old set of rusty knives. It scared you, so you took off. They kept running after you simply because they wanted to scare you more.
Your feet carried you across the fields by the Weeping Water. The river had frozen over, but people still used it as a guide to where they were. Right now, it was your guide near to your father’s workplace, The Dreadfort.
“Come back Y/N!” the first butcher’s boy said.
“Yeah we won’t hurt you!” the second responded. They laughed as they brandished their rusted kitchen weaponry. Tears began to form as you ran faster in the snow. Suddenly, you tripped over a snow-covered branch. You landed knee-first into the cold dirt. The butcher’s boys caught up to you and loomed over you.
“Did someone fall?” they cackled.
“Please stop,” you begged them.
“She’s crying!” the first one came closer. He had a meat cleaver in his hand. His dirty fingers wrapped around the handle tightly as if he were some knight. “Let’s see if we can make her cry more.”
The butcher’s boy raised the cleaver high above his head.
“Please! Don’t! Stop!” you cried loudly. You heard the younger butcher’s boy mock you and laugh. You closed your eyes. This was it. That’s when you heard another set of footsteps in the snow.
“I would leave her alone if I were you,” you heard his threat and you opened your eyes. He was a little older than you. His dark hair was wild, but his blue eyes were set on the two boys in front of him. He stepped in front of you, creating an obstacle between you and your enemies. “You can’t tell us what to do,” the older one told him.
“Yeah!” the younger one shouted. The older boy protecting you kept a serious face. His hand twiddled with a flaying knife.
“I don’t care what you think I can and can’t do. Leave her alone, that’s an order,” he threatened. The boys stood their ground. The older butcher’s boy was a heavy one. His size was easily twice the size of the older boy. He walked closer to him, making the space between them little and tension higher.
“I’m not going anywhere. Now move, or I’ll cut you.” The older butcher’s boy raised the cleaver above his head again. In a swift move, the older boy took his flaying knife and cut the butcher’s boy’s face. The cut was thin and long. Blood started to leak from his cheek and his eyes caught the end of it. The butcher’s boy dropped the cleaver and screamed in pain.
“My eye!” he cried out. He covered his face and ran off in the opposite direction. You sat up in shock. They were gone. A hand extended out towards you, and you took it. The older boy helped you off the ground.
“Are you alright?” he asked you. You nodded your head. “You’re Kevan’s daughter, aren’t you? My father is a very big fan of your father’s work.”
“Thank you,” you said in a small voice. You winced in pain. Lifting your skirts, a small stream of blood leaked down your leg because of the cut on your knee.
“Don’t worry,” the older boy said. “I won’t let anyone hurt you again. Come with me.” He offered his hand to you, and for the first time you felt the world slow down. His fingertips were in high detail. You could see every groove on them, just as you could see every shade of blue in his eyes. Your heart was swelling. You thought this only happened in the romantic stories your mother told you.
“What’s your name?” you asked as you took his hand.
“Snow. Ramsay Snow,” he guided you back to the Dreadfort.
From that day on, you followed Ramsay like a small shadow. He did not mind. You were his private audience to his entertainment. Every bug he smashed, you were there. Every adult he stood up to, you were there. Every cut he made on someone, you were there watching him, admiring him, falling for him more.
You couldn’t say if your father approved of the special relationship Ramsay shared with you, but it made his pockets swell with coins. Turns out, if the bastard favors you, the Lord of the Dreadfort favors you, then business would do extremely well.
But he was your father first. He had heard of Ramsay’s torment behavior. How he enjoyed inflicting pain upon others. Granted, most of them were enemies of the North, it still concerned him. He secretly looked at you longer every time you came home, and checked for any cuts or bruises. God help the man that inflicted any pain on you. However, your skin was clear of any aliments or pain. You always smiled when you came home and you always helped around the house. Your father let it go.
Ramsay was only two years older than you, but every time his father made him wear ‘proper gear’ when Ned Stark came to visit, he looked much older than he was. Ned made frequent visits to other castles to hear their concerns and such. This particular visit was important to Roose, so he pulled out all the stops.
A feast was held, candles were lit, and nearly everyone was invited. You wore your best dress and half-braided your hair into a wreath crown. Long sleeves protected you from the cold weather, and the rest of your hair cascaded over your shoulders. When you walked into the great hall, young men noticed you as a young woman for the first time. Ramsay Snow, all in proper wear, watched you float like a dream he remembered having over and over again.
That night, Ramsay never left your side. His fingers could never quite leave your body alone, and your father noticed quite quickly how beautiful you looked and how Ramsay’s eyes never strayed from your chest and face.
It had been a magical night for you. Ramsay never treated you like this ever. Of course, you never told him how you felt. How your heart swelled when you saw him or how you admired how he was true to his family traditions. You couldn’t express how your hairs raised when he touched you.
Ramsay led you away from the feast, laughing and shushing you. Both of you stopped near open windows to see the snow gently falling from the black sky. Ramsay touched the ends of your curls and played with them. The next thing you knew, he placed his lips over yours. Your eyes fluttered shut and a warmth grew from inside you. Ramsay’s hands held your face. He kept kissing you like he needed to breathe.
It was wonderful, but your father saw. His head couldn’t get rid of the rumors. The ideas of dark dungeons filled with the stench of rotting skin, organs across the floor, and dead kings on the walls telling him to get his daughter away from Ramsay. This was too much. Yes, the idea of his daughter marrying highborn was a desire among common men, but not this one. Not this bastard.
He looked back at you and the Bolton bastard kissing, and your father had to do something.
The next day, your heart broke into pieces as your father had sent you off to Winterfell, a place miles and miles away from Ramsay. You were a handmaiden now to Catelyn Stark. Although she was kind and warm to you, you missed home. You missed your family, your friends, and you missed him.
Months passed, and you learned to live without him. You heard how ill Robb Stark would speak of Roose, and you would keep your ill-mannered words to yourself. Years passed, and you watched Ned Stark leave home, and soon enough you watched Catelyn and Robb leave home as well. Soon enough, you knew they wouldn’t return home.
Then, you watched in horror as Theon Greyjoy took over Winterfell. He was always so cruel to you. Lingering looks and trying to convince you to warm his bed, pushing you to the ground when you didn’t. He was your Lord now whether you liked it or not, but you were smart. You knew squids couldn’t survive far from the water for too long.
The sky was gray that day. Clouds gathered up in bunches and crowds and filled the sky with something ominous. You were tying to do your chores that day when a Greyjoy soldier cornered you.
“Where you going?” he asked you, his breath smelled of old ale.
“To the kennels, ser,” you looked down. He grabbed your arm tightly.
“No, you’re coming with me. Theon says you’re a good bedwarmer.” His smile had two ‘ missing. One on the top, and the other on the bottom. Another soldier ran towards the center of Winterfell. “Oi! What’s going on?”
“I don’t know! We’re being called! Come on!” the soldier continued to run. You tried to get out of the soldier’s grasp.
“Uh uh, you’re coming with me. Understand?” the Greyjoy soldier dragged you to the courtyard. Your eyes looked down at the ground. Flakes of snow decorated your hair. Theon Greyjoy was shouting something, and that’s when you heard him.
You looked up to see him. He looked more like Lord than the Bastard. He wore his family’s colors like he was a trueborn. His blue eyes were frosted and he had bags under his eyes. He’s aged. So have you. You felt so frozen. He had to know you were there. Ramsay’s eyes scanned the crowd.
“Ramsay!” you shouted. The Greyjoy soldier hit you in the back of the head hard.
“Are you mad? Don’t you know who he is?” he said worriedly. The back of your head burned, but you opened your eyes to see Ramsay’s looking back at you. You saw a mixture of emotions in his face. Confusion. Realization. Love. Depression. Anger. Wrath.
You weren’t sure how it happened, but it was fast. An arrow went through the Greyjoy soldier’s head. Two other Greyjoy soldiers died on the spot. You ran off. You knew better than to stand in the middle of a slaughter. It didn’t seem long until you heard the shouting and fighting. Not long after that, you could smell the Greyjoys piss themselves.
The aftermath was ugly. Several men had lost their limbs. Other men were crucified in X-shaped crosses. Flies had already began their feasts spreading disease and pestilence.
“Y/N,” you heard a voice behind you. You knew who it was. You would run to him while everyone else could run away. You wrapped yourself around him, breathing him in. “Is this where you have been? All of these years?”
You nodded and let yourself cry in his chest. Ramsay pushed you away, but kept you close enough to wipe away the tears.
“My quiet girl. Hush now,” he comforted you. “I promised you I wouldn’t let anyone touch you, didn’t I? Don’t cry, sweetling.” Ramsay turned you around for you to see the whole carnage. Greyjoy soldiers and Winterfell natives lay dead on the ground. Snow fell over their bodies creating an eerie sheet over them. Blood seeped into the dirt; this was Bolton land now.
“One day, this will all be mine,” he whispered into your ear. “And my word will be law. You won’t disappear from me again. No one could touch you. You would belong to me.”
“I already belong to you,” you told him. You didn’t let go of him as you kissed him in the cold weather. Your lips parted for a moment. Your forehead touched his. “I’ve missed you terribly.”
“Don’t leave me again. Stay here. Watch me rule over them all,” Ramsay’s gloved hand lifted your chin.
“Yes my lord.” You smiled, melting to his touch. You fell for him when the sky was gray and ugly, and you would always fall for him.

15 details you might’ve missed on the latest episode of ‘Game of Thrones’, Defence Online

Warning: Spoilers ahead for “Game of Thrones” season eight, episode two, “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.”
Below is a full recap and analysis of the latest installment in HBO’s final season of “Game of Thrones.”
From the weighty meaning of Jaime and Brienne’s swords seen side-by-side to the musical cue that added emotional depth to scenes with Davos, keep reading for a look at the major details and callbacks you might have missed.
The eighth and final season of “Game of Thrones” pushed forward on Sunday night with an intimate and emotional episode. Acting as a precursor to next week’s massive 82-minute battle sequence, “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” was packed with meaningful characters moments and callbacks to earlier seasons.
Keep reading for a look at the 15 details you might have missed.
Opening credits changed slightly again, this time showing the war preparations at Winterfell.

HBO
While last week’s credits were entirely new for the series (showing three major historical events on the show), this week there were simple additions.
First, Last Hearth was shown enveloped in the icy blue tiles that represent the Night King and his Army of the Dead. Then, as seen above, Winterfell was shown battle-ready with the deep trenches built around its border.
Daenerys referred to Tyrion as Jaime’s “little brother,” nodding to one of the more popular fan theories for the Lannister siblings.

HBO
“Perhaps he trusts his little brother to defend him,” Daenerys said when Tyrion tried to come to Jaime’s defense. “Right up until the moment he slits my throat.”
In George R.R. Martin’s books, the prophecy told to Cersei as a young girl has a third and important part. The woods witch told Cersei “the valonqar shall wrap his hands about your pale white throat and choke the life from you.”
Valonqar means “little brother” in Valyrian, and Cersei interpreted that to mean Tyrion would eventually kill her.

But many fans have come around to the idea that Jaime is the real valonqar – he’s also her little brother, after all, just by mere minutes.
But the show removed this part of the prophecy back on season five when we were given the flashback of Young Cersei hearing the predictions, so we can’t be certain this theory will manifest at all on “Game of Thrones.”
Regardless, this episode appeared to make a clear reference to it, if only to stoke the fires of speculation once more.

Jaime repeated Brienne’s argument from the season seven finale when Daenerys asked him to explain his desertion of Cersei now.

When Queen Daenerys still seems doubtful of Jaime’s intentions, he turns and looks at Brienne before answering.
“Because this goes beyond loyalty,” Jaime said. “This is about survival.”
That’s very close to what Brienne told Jaime in the dragonpit when she was trying to convince him to fight with the North.

HBO
“Oh f— loyalty,” Brienne said, much to Jaime’s shock. “This goes beyond houses and honor and oaths. Talk to the queen.”
It was Jaime’s invokation of this sentiment that finally pushed her to stand up and defend Jaime in front of all the Northern lords, Lady Sansa, and Queen Daenerys.
A familiar musical cue played at the end of Jaime’s scene in the great hall of Winterfell.

Just as Grey Worm roughly thrust Widow’s Wail into Jaime’s chest (more on that important sword in a moment), the score kicks in and plays Jaime’s theme song.
This music was first heard on the series back on season three towards the end of Jaime’s memorable bathtub confession scene, in which he told Brienne the story of killing the Mad King for the first time.
That theme has never been featured on the official soundtracks released by HBO, but that will change this season.

It was notably heard on season six, when Jaime went to Riverrun to break the Blackfish’s siege. Composer Ramin Djawadi said this emotional theme will “definitely” appear on the season eight soundtrack.
“Yes, definitely,” Djawadi told INSIDER at HBO’s red carpet premiere for season eight when we asked if we could finally expect the theme to be officially released. “A lot of people have approached me [about that].”
Arya and Gendry’s flirtatious forge scene was a shot-by-shot recreation of a season two moment between them.

When Arya walked up to the forge just as Gendry was starting to work on a weapon, the framing of the shots was identical to a scene from the end of season two, episode five, “The Ghost of Harrenhal.”
Here’s Gendry, now and then, in the same shot.

Actors Joe Dempsie (Gendry) and Maisie Williams (Arya) have aged along with their characters as the series has filmed over the last decade.
When they first began shooting, Williams was 12 years old. Now she’s 22. Dempsie was about 23 by the time season two rolled around, and now he’s 31. Their characters are meant to be much closer in age (about 18 and 23, respectively).

Tyrion repeated a joke we’ve heard before about how he’d prefer to die.

HBO
“I always pictured myself dying in my bed, at the age of 80 with a belly full of wine and girl’s mouth around my c—,” Tyrion told Jaime.
Clearly Tyrion loves this little jest, because Jaime finished his sentence for him.
We heard it the first time back on the first season, when Tyrion was surrounded by the mountain clans in the Vale.

HBO
“How would you like to die, Tyrion son of Tywin?” said Shagga, son of Dolf. And Tyrion answered with his typical wit, saying the “belly full of wine” joke again.
The scene on season eight ended on a potentially more terrifying note, when Tyrion said perhaps he’d “march to King’s Landing and rip [Cersei] apart” after he was killed.
This might have been a line in the script designed to prepare fans to see their favorite characters not only killed in the upcoming battle, but resurrected and turned into murder-happy wights.

With Jaime and Brienne together, this marked the first time the pieces of Ned Stark’s sword have been back in Winterfell since his death.

The ancestral blade of House Stark was a greatsword named Ice. The blade was Valyrian steel, making the metal precious (and one of the rare substances that can kill White Walkers).
The sword was taken by the Lannister when Ned was arrested, and later melted into two new blades.
Tumblr media

Ned was executed by Ser Ilyn Payne with his own sword, Ice.

HBO
At the start of season two, Tywin Lannister had Ice melted down and forged two new swords from it.
He gave one of these swords to Jaime, who in turn gifted it to Brienne. She named it Oathkeeper. The second sword was given to King Joffrey, who named it Widow’s Wail. After Joffrey’s death, Jaime took the blade for himself.
Now, for the first time since Ned left Winterfell on season one, episode two, Ice is back in its rightful place of House Stark.
Both Davos and Gilly were visibly moved by the sight of a young girl who reminded them of Princess Shireen Baratheon.
Tumblr media

HBO
The young girl had burn marks on her face, in the same place where Shireen’s greyscale covered her cheek.
Davos thought of Shireen as a daughter, and was devastated to learn not only of her death but to hear she was executed by Stannis and Melisandre. Shireen helped both Davos and Gilly learn how to read. We saw the young princess bond with Gilly on season five, when they were both at Castle Black.
The scene was given added emotional weight with an instrumental version of the song Shireen once sang playing in the background.
Tumblr media

During a season three scene with Shireen, she was heard singing an eerie ballad called “It’s Always Summer Under the Sea.”
The melody of that song is the same music heard on the season eight scene when Davos has a visceral reaction to seeing the young Winterfell girl in front of him.
During the War Room session, we got a peek at the battle plans for the coming fight.

From left to right on the top, the plan is to have House Stark and Arryn forces on the left (where Brienne will lead), then Targaryen and Dothraki fighters in the center. On the far right is more Stark soldiers.
Inside the castle walls, House Mormont (led by Lady Lyanna) will apparently protect the main holdfast. Then there’s a blank black tile, marking a mysterious set of people. Perhaps this indicates where the crypts are, but we can’t be sure.
We also know House Greyjoy will be posted in the godswood with Bran, aka the Three-Eyed raven.
Meanwhile, Sam Tarly keeps reminding us of those important books he stole. What could be inside them?

Upon the ramparts, Sam talked to Jon and Edd about the books he stole from the Citadel library. What exactly are those books? Is there important information in them? Sam poached them from the restricted section of the library, where tales about the Long Night and Azor Ahai were kept.
We had hoped to get a peek in them before the big battle started, thinking there might be useful info inside for our heroes. But we’re still waiting for whatever those pages will reveal.

When Arya found out Gendry was a Baratheon, the weight of that revelation added fuel to a fun fan theory.

Back on the pilot episode of “Game of Thrones,” Robert Baratheon and Ned Stark spoke in the crypts of Winterfell about their familys.
“I have a son, you have a daughter,” Robert said. “We’ll join our houses.”
King Robert was referring to Joffrey and Sansa but, as we soon learned, Joffrey wasn’t Robert’s son at all but the bastard of Cersei and Jaime.
Fans have spent years hoping that line might foreshadow a romance between Gendry and Arya, the real son and daughter of Robert and Ned. And tonight they got their wish (just sans the arranged bethrothal part).
Tyrion and Jaime mention the Siege of Pyke and Whispering Wood, two battles with loaded significance.

Tyrion calls Jaime the “fabled hero of the Siege of Pyke.” That fight happened decades before the contemporary events of “Game of Thrones,” but Jaime had a meaningful conversation with one of the Stark household soldiers about it on the first season.
On season one, Jaime was standing guard duty when Jory — one of Ned Stark’s most trusted men — came to him with a message.

The two exchanged pleasantries, and talk turned the battle at the Siege of Pyke, where they had fought side by side. Jory mentioned how he nearly lost an eye fighting one of the Greyjoy men.
The next time Jaime and Jory saw each other was when Jaime and the Lannister men attacked Ned in the streets of King’s Landing.

Jory tried to take Jaime on single-handedly, but Jaime shoved his dagger through Jory’s eye, killing him instantly and bringing their earlier conversation around full circle.
Back on our season eight episode, Jaime calls himself the “fabled loser of the battle of Whispering Wood.”

This was the first major battle Robb Stark won. He surprised the Lannister forces and captured Jaime, which eventually led to Jaime’s release with Brienne and the loss of his hand.
Given how Jaime-centric Sunday’s episode of “Game of Thrones” was, it’s fitting for us to be reminded of these two monumental character moments for Jaime. The first is an example of his previous cutthroat loyalty to his family, and the latter shows how far the relationship between House Stark and Lannister has come.
Meanwhile, that emotional knighting ceremony was a deep reference to George R.R. Martin’s books.

In addition to the “A Song of Ice and Fire” series, Martin wrote three novellas set in Westeros around 100 years prior to the events of “Game of Thrones.”
Each novella follows the tales of a knight called Ser Duncan the Tall and young Targaryen prince known simply as Egg. Ser Duncan even got name-dropped on the fourth season of “Game of Thrones,” when King Joffrey was reading through the White Book of the Kingsguard.
Ser Duncan the Tall is Brienne of Tarth’s ancestor.

After years of fans speculating that the unusually tall Ser Duncan might be one of Brienne’s ancestors, Martin confirmed the theory at a convention in 2016. The three “Dunk and Egg” novellas were packaged into a single book called “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.”
Knowing Brienne’s shared heritage with the chivalrous Ser Duncan made that incredible knighting ceremony all the more powerful when Jaime said, “Arise, Brienne of Tarth, a knight of the Seven Kingdoms.”
The song Podrick sang was pulled straight from the books, and it’s known as “Jenny’s Song.”

The song, renamed “Jenny of Oldstones” for the show, appears during one of Arya’s chapters in “A Song of Ice and Fire.” Learn more about the song and its hidden meaning here.
For now, here are the full lyrics to Podrick’s version:
“High in the halls of the kings who are gone Jenny would dance with her ghosts The ones she had lost and the ones she had found And the ones who had loved her the most The ones who’d been gone for so very long She couldn’t remember their names
They spun her around on the damp old stones Spun away all her sorrow and pain And she never wanted to leave Never wanted to leave (x5)”
The version which played as the credits on the episode ran was by Florence + The Machine.

Just after Jon Snow dropped the bombshell news of his parentage on Daenerys, the Night King’s army arrived and the episode faded on an ominous note. Watch the lyric video for the Florence + The Machine version of “Jenny of Oldstones” here.

6) ARE YOU RELIGIOUS/SPIRITUAL?
No, not at all.
8) WHAT MUSICAL ARTISTS HAVE YOU MOST FELT CONNECTED TO OVER YOUR LIFETIME?
Florence and the Machine, Sia, Metallica
16) IF YOU’D GROWN UP IN A DIFFERENT ENVIRONMENT, DO YOU THINK YOU’D HAVE TURNED OUT THE SAME?
No.
18) WHAT’S YOUR PATRONUS?
In my dreams, a dragon. In reality it’d be a guinea pig for sure. :’)
26) HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR GENDER/SEXUALITY?
I have identified as a female all my life and right now I don’t think that’ll change that quickly. But I still struggle with defining my sexuality since my experience with relationships and the other gender in general are limited to really small, so I’m not quiet sure yet in which direction I’m turning. But I’m still young. I still got my whole life to figure that one out. Hopefully.
