WAND FINISH : do they bathe in the morning or at night ?

   Severus tends to bathe at night, now that he’s an adult !   As a child, and into his teenhood, however, ( at home, specifically )  he would bathe in the mornings in order to be the first to get the hot water.  It ran out quickly, so if he wasn’t fast enough there would be none left by the time he was able to shower.

   During his time at Hogwarts this would transition to showering / bathing at night to avoid anyone else being there during the day. It was somewhat dangerous in the washrooms, there was nobody of much authority there to help him in the event that he got attacked ( which he did, several times ) — or to help him get this clothes back after they’d been stolen from him ( which also happened on multiple occasions ). 

   After getting his job at Hogwarts, bathing at night was no longer about safety, and just because it was practical. Showering in the morning seems counterintuitive, throughout the day he ends up smelling like a jumble of things, smoke, metal, chemicals, plants, general burning, sometimes a sweat from being in a room filled with burners on constantly. So, he’ll bathe before settling down for the evening, the cleanliness ties in to his period of R&R.

SOOTHE SKIN :  do they have a skincare routine ?

   Kind of !

   He washes his face in the mornings, and at nights, because that is some of the most exposed skin he has, and being in a stuffy, hot room filled with smoke and various other things will make him break out or otherwise just make him feel a bit gross. He doesn’t have anything in particular he uses, though he has made a bar of the soap he uses for the rest of him especially for his face.  If he’s feeling good, he will sometimes moisturize after washing his face, but it’s rare.

   Post-War, his skincare routine is extended beyond his face, to everywhere else. It also gets trickier at this point, because while he will use his regular soap for the majority of his body, his left side requires medicated soaps to soothe those muscles. Using the prescribed soap elsewhere won’t do harm, but it is designed to quell muscles spasms and pain, so it can cause tightness in the parts of his body that are unaffected by muscle going haywire. It is also somewhat tricky to make ( and he makes it himself ), so he makes sure to use it for its specific purpose.

   As before he will moisturize if he is feeling good, though every time he bathes he will use lotion that serves the same purpose as the soap. On his back, his neck, his left arm, the left side of his abdomen, over his hip and down onto his leg.  It’s tedious, but he enjoys the relief and it makes his skin soft.

SELF CARE :  does your muse have any other interesting things they do to take care of themselves ?

   Severus doesn’t do much in terms of self care. He doesn’t think about it much, so it isn’t something often practised.  His methods of self care, when performed are also often unknown to him to be ‘self care’ and are not what you’d expect them to be.

   An example is that he makes his own soap, and scents it how he’d like to smell, because that gives him comfort. He will blame it on just being particular — ( ❛  This one contains tallow. Tallow disgusts me. ❜   ❛ I do not like the way that one smells. ❜   ❛ I do not like the feeling of this one. ❜, etc. ),  so he isn’t entirely aware that him taking the time to craft his own stuff that makes him more-or-less happy is self care.

   Brushing his hair is another one. Being riddled with depression makes these things difficult, so actually taking the time to brush his hair is something that feels like an accomplishment, and makes him feel good about both himself and the day ahead. He feels put together.

   A traditional example would be that when he’s stressed, he will take a bath. A long bath, with any fancy thing in it that he’d like. He’ll sit in there for hours, if he wants to, read, think, sing.

   Honestly, at times, bathing in of itself is self care for him.

2) How did you get into this franchise/fandom?

I was in my Harry Potter Tik Tok phase. I had read the books as a kid, watched the movies, I was a big fan, and then it explodes on Tik Tok and I am not immune to the influence of my FYP. I read fanfics and kinda lived on playlists and after a few months, i made Amelia's blog and y'all have been really cool so I've stayed!

favorite dish to cook?

Severus isn’t necarrily a bad cook, but he definetly never took the effort to teach himself how to prepare elaborate dishes. Out of necessity, he thaught himself how to make some basic dishes for himself,, && those usually taste suprisingly well despite their simplicity. His favourite dish to cook would probably be some sort of stew because it allows him to both use up whatever ingredients he spend money on,, as well as be creative with ingredients. 

favorite dish to order out?

When he is staying in Cokesworh Severus sometimes does get take-out. When he was younger, his parents sometimes got chinese food on special occasions. He usually visits the very same place,, && the food still feels like a treat when he’s a grown man. Another plus to chinese take out is the fact that it usually last him two to three days so he doesn’t have to worry about what to eat for a good few days.

what's their love language?

Acts of service. It’s all about what one does with Severus. While he genuinely values good conversation ,,&& at times NEEDS words of affirmation, real LOVE,, TRUST && RESPECT will grow through what one does to show him they care for him. He knows how easy it is to deceive someone --&& so he makes a point of it to make every single action count to shape up a picture of the people he cares for. It’s also in the way he shows love. Severus will vary rarely openly confess his feelings for someone,, && he definetly isn’t the type to try and impress with presents. Physical contact also doesn’t come easy to him, but if he cares for someone he will show it through what he does for them -- or is willing to do for them.

draco is cold , but that's nothing new --- harry's noticed that no matter where they are in the castle , draco's hands will inevitably feel like two icicles . that , & draco will whinge about an imaginary draft , or a window left open , or how someone must have slipped him a freezing draught , et cetera . it makes harry wish they were the type of couple ( because that's what they are , even if draco might be loathe to admit it ) that shared hoodies , but he knows without needing to ask that draco would refuse all his muggle clothes . someone like draco malfoy wouldn't be caught dead in something as mundane as a pullover , anyway . either way , it's all very interesting to harry , who doesn't find him a cold person at all .

8 .     What features does your muse share with their parents ? Have they inherited anything prominent or notable, like hair colour ?

  Severus shares quite a few traits with his parents, the most prominent being the hooked nose he’d inherited from his father.     His hair colour is his mother’s doing, she && the rest of the Prince’s always having sported the same very thick, raven hair. His dark eyes also come from his mother, as Tobias had hazel eyes.  

  Severus is thankful the black-eyed genes of his mother trumped over the lighter green && brown of his father’s — He couldn’t look in the mirror otherwise. He’d look far too much like Tobias.

14 .     Does your muse have a lot of body / facial hair ?  Where is it prominent, how does it feel ? Do they shave ?

Severus has, what I’d say, a regular amount of body hair.

  The hair on his arms is quite thin, though because it is so dark, it stands out like mad against his pale skin. It’s soft, feels fuzzy to the touch.  

  The hair on his legs is thicker, and more coarse, though still relatively soft — in some places, it doesn’t want to grow in like the rest does, like where the bite mark he’d obtained from Fluffy is.

  Severus doesn’t grow very much hair on his chest, though he does have hair on his stomach. A ‘ happy trail ’, if you will. This hair gets more coarse && condensed the further down it goes.

  Facial hair is different. His face doesn’t seem to really grow hair. Truthfully, I don’t think Severus could grow a beard even if he wanted to, his face just rejects the idea — Which ties to the first question, actually, because this is a genetic thing he’d inherited from his father.

   Severus doesn’t shave any of his body hair, but he will trim it in certain areas  ( use your imagination, ).  His body hair isn’t something he ever really thinks about, so he just doesn’t have the need to.

*** Hmmm. I think it had an impact on him but I'm not sure if it was positive or negative! Probably neutral lol. His mother basically taught him to be a perfect Pureblood Gentleman and his father taught him the type of man he should never be. His father's rhetorics and teachings never really cemented themselves into Theo, which is why he's not big into Blood Statuses and treats his elves well.

That being said! At age seven, he meets Draco Malfoy and they become very close friends and Theo actually respects Narcissa and Lucius. So he continues to want to be charming and perfect for their respect. Which is why he never tries that hard to shake the status quo.

*** Theo went the opposite direction of when someone doesn't get enough affection as a kid. One would assume that he now craves it but he doesn't. He actually doesn't like affection all that much because he isn't used to it. That being said, he doesn't like affection being given TO him. He's quite affectionate to his friends and, if he did have a significant other, he would offer them affection whenever he can. Mostly because he, again, never received it, so he wants to give it.

scars: how many scars does my muse have ? where are they located on my muse’s body ? how did they get them ? what do they look like ?

Severus has 4 sets of scars.  I say sets, because each scar could technically be counted as either a million individual ones, but it makes more sense to just group them together with the story they come with.  

The least severe && most hidden is the gigantic bite scar he’s got on his left shin, which he obtained from Fluffy. It’s about 4x the size of a regular bite, and crushed bone when he sustained the injury.  This is also the scar he’s most embarrassed about. Yes, he got it in the name of ensuring Voldemort couldn’t get his hands on the Philosopher’s Stone, but really … Who tries to get past Fluffy ?

SH TW:  The second ‘set’ is of two, long && horizontal scars on his left forearm. They go around the Dark Mark, when its present on the skin, and otherwise just look like two jagged parentheses that don’t bend at the top.  ( HC post about these scars && the dark mark thing here, massive SH TW still in effect. )

The third ‘set’ are five scars that run from just below Severus’s sternum, to the middle of his chest, each made by a finger ( and a thumb ). He got these the night he followed Remus, who by the point of finding him had already undergone transformation.  Severus isn’t sure whether or not the swipe was meant to grab him, or gut him. The action caught a lot of skin before Severus’ brain caught up with him and told him to move backwards, but by that point the claws had torn his skin && robes, seized them upwards ( Severus right along with them ) && into the air.  This is where James interfered, and Severus got away with his life && a story he wasn’t permitted to tell.

The last ‘set’ is on his neck. Severus survived Nagini ( because i said so, ) && was left with two decently sized puncture wound scars, and scarred skin surrounding them from where venom ate away at it. Thin, black varicose veins run from the marks, going up into his jaw && down into his shoulder.

meals: how many meals does my muse eat a day? what do they generally consist of ?

Severus, on average, eats one to two meals a day, not including snacks.  Mental illness does affect this ; Sometimes he’ll go days without eating anything ( among other instances of bodily neglect ), or can only manage snacking.

   BREAKFAST :

He doesn’t ever really have breakfast. This is mainly because doesn’t have an appetite in the morning, often feeling ill && would much rather just have a cup of tea / coffee.  If he does have breakfast, he will eat a fried egg  ( sunny-side up ), beans && toast.  Most of the time he will neglect the beans, dip his toast into the yolk of the egg, and neglect the egg whites as well.

   LUNCH :

For lunch, if he has it, he’ll usually just have berries, crackers && more tea. If he’s exceptionally starving he’ll have something bulkier, like a sandwich consisting of whole-wheat bread, mayonnaise, mustard and ham. That, or buttered toast ; whatever is fastest, his lunch periods are his relaxation periods.

   DINNER :

He always has dinner, no matter what it is. At Hogwarts he’ll eat whatever is available && he fancies, at home it differs.

If he’s splurged, he’ll have steak ( medium-rare, too much blood makes him feel sick about eating it ), a side of green beans ( steamed with butter, salt && pepper ) and one to three glasses of wine.  

If its a regular day and nothing special has happened, he’ll usually make himself something easy. Living in a Muggle neighbourhood ( and because he does not have time or mental energy to consider what he’s gonna make for dinner )  it’s usually frozen foods, one-person oven / microwave meals.

jasper... my dude... the loml... listen ur snape is literally. so spot on, i cannot even articulate into words. snape id arguably one of the most, if not THE MOST, complex characters series. morally gray characters are so challenging to write bc its so easy to write them more on the 'good' side rather than the 'bad' side of things but you capture him so perfectly. i hear his voice in all of ur dialog and legit just get a Burst of serotonin whenever i see youve written everything. you capture his mannerisms and his wit and his sarcastic nature. you have the perfect balance of beautifully written without it being so flowery to where its hard to understand, youre so immensely talented and im so happy we've become friends AND ALSO unrelated to your writing but YOUR ART ? loook LOOK.... you already KNOW how i feel about their silly little paper crane notes ... but yeah , i do SHIP them , though i was super super late on this ship . literally like , within the last few years or so late . i remember coming across dr.arry when i was growing up & i was like whaaat that's so weird , that would never work , it's always been on sight for them , etc etc .

but then i got older obviously & finally understood that draco is actually just as nuanced as harry , if not more , which in turn adds nuance to any potential friendship or relationship they could develop . they're both quite lonely at their cores , & they're both shoved into these positions in a greater game that neither of them had any say in . & obviously they have this romeo & juliet aspect to them that is really appealing . they're just so interesting & they have so many moving parts that are fun to play around with depending on the context .

ron's words echo in his ears as harry dusts a portrait frame . granted , detention could be a lot WORSE than cleaning professor mcgonagall's classroom . the without - magic part doesn't even faze him , since the dursleys had done MORE than enough to prepare him for that .

it does dredge up quite a few memories , though . when he's wiping the chalkboard , he remembers being the shortest in his class at his primary school , jumping to reach the upper corners of the board . now , he's almost the same height as mcgonagall's standing easel . how things change .

& then , they don't . even as harry's polishing the silver trinkets on mcgonagall's desk , he can almost hear aunt petunia's shrill , annoyed voice : don't get your fingerprints on it , it defeats the purpose . & make sure that rag is dry !

funny , the things that never leave you .

harry steps back from the portrait he's dusting ( ❝ that tickles !! ❞ ) & looks up to the one he's been avoiding all night ; it's too high up to reach on his own , & harry isn't about to use a chair or desk that he's just painstakingly wiped down . & no magic ...

he heaves a great sigh as he reluctantly makes peace with the only option left .

❝  oh  ---   ❞  harry  squelches  a  grin .  aunt  petunia  had  sent  him  a  box  of  random  bits  &  bobs  that  still  floated  in  the  dursleys’  possession ,  even  after  all  this  time .  to  the  untrained  eye  it  looked  like  a  sentimental  enough  gesture ,  but  harry  knows  aunt  petunia  just  wants  all  his  crap  out  of  her  new  house .  among  the  items  are  pairs  on  pairs  of  broken  glasses ,  an  old  copy  of  which  broomstick ,  &   a  few  unfortunate  photographs .
