Come on a walk with me
It was a gorgeous morning so I took some pictures to send to @stripedroseandsketchpads , then I got carried away and thought maybe you all would like to come for an autumn walk with me and my beloved fools?
Introducing the fools: Shay (r, red harness) and Bart (l, off-lead because he's a good boy)
You can hear a bunch of birds, but it was the buzzard at the beginning I was trying to catch
Anyway! It was the kind of morning where the light was spectacular on the autumn colours, mild but not mild enough for midges, the leaves were trickling down like we were in the last era of fading Lothlorien, and the shapes and forms and textures were all beautiful.
Huge sweet chestnut leaves and larch needles in lime green; the wild geraniums growing up through the leaves.
Trees are so good you guys. Look at the forms and the colours! There's a wee river just down to the side of the path.
Look at that line of sycamores (I think!) like sentinels on the other side of the river. Hi friends!
Let's pause for a drink and a sniff.
Fallen trees and overhanging branches and light catching the canopy down the glen :)))
You could almost convince yourself there were elves there somewhere, right?
She doesn't shave why should you?
We had some high winds recently and the tops of the larches seem to have been battered worst, so there are bits of larch in all kinds of improbable places. Also good ferns! But greyhounds don't care about this, hurry up mum, I'll pull you up the hill!
Y E L L O W!! Also some really platonic examples of holly trees here.
A wee stream going under the path.
Higher up where more sun gets through the wild geraniums are still flowering! The ivy's taken its toll on things too, but it'll make so many little guys and critters happy over winter with its berries. Also a peek-a-boo gap in the hedge.
Loooooook! at the itty bitty baby ferns!!!
majestic. can't get enough of this shit.
However, tumblr tells me that's Too Many Pictures.
So if you're enjoying this walk with me, come back for part 2!

I have a question about machete, since your last post of him bathing... Is he fully furred or is it only his neck and head? In the drawings it looked a bit like the rest is either very thinly furred or just skin...
He has normal fur alright, but most of it is naturally very short and smooth, it only forms those pointy curls on his neck and head, backside and tail. On pink areas, like the ears, snout, extremities, armpits and lower abdomen, the coat gets gradually thinner and thinner until it's just skin.
#walking-the-velvet-green#answered#if you've seen a greyhound or a whippet it's close to that length and level of coverage#with a fine and silky texture

I wanted to work out, but as I looked for a pair of socks I began to wonder how a woman with 200 pairs of socks (I’ve never actually counted them lol) could somehow not be able to find even a single matching pair?
As I looked and looked it honestly became so frustrating, I was really starting to feel overwhelmed and then after FINALLY finding some, my brain was so overwhelmed and exhausted that I had lost all energy and motivation to workout and that was what I wanted to socks for in the first place, I know you are probably thinking why couldn’t I just give myself a good pep talk and go for it? Well it’s hard to explain how my brain doing what it was doing makes my whole body feel strange, but it does and so I was worried I might have a seizure and my frustration was hard to handle.. after I sat for awhile and my energy to workout felt completely depleted I decided to ask my partner if we could go out for a walk with our dog, nelly.
He said yes and we waited a bit for me to recover enough to go outside and then we walked 3.53 miles!
It was soooooo good to still get in some movement and exercise!
Nelly was so tired after our walk! lol poor baby

Laying the tricky groundwork for a perfect birthday present for a friend who hates to ask for things several months in advance.....i am calculating. I am researching.
#Creepy chatter#I hunted him down a ps5 last year that we all group funded hehe#He'd been hunting for like 2 years at that point but couldn't snag one#I will outdo myself this year >:3#Always bobbing and weaving he can't predict me#He dreads his birthday being a giant social thing#And one year we didn't do a party on his birthday (told him happy birthday ofc)#Then 7 or 8 months later surprised him with a princess surprise party with 4 friends hehe#The party was p much eating snacks and gaming (not breaking his routine)#But he did get the coveted birthday tiara ribboned into his hair and we gave him his birthday princess sash#He's like.#If an italian greyhound was a guy#And you're always walking around w a broom or vacuum

GALTx eNews: Eleven Tips For Cold Weather Walks
January is National Walk Your Pet Month. We all need a reminder of the importance and benefits of a good walk during the coldest part of the year when it is hardest to maintain a good walking routine. As much as we want to hibernate, our dogs still need exercise and mental stimulation to remain healthy and happy. Here are some tips to help you get your walks in:
1) Bundle your hound up in a warm coat and booties with good no slip tread.
2) Take more frequent, shorter walks in areas that are in full sun and, if possible, sheltered from the wind.
3) Let someone know your route and when you expect to be back so that they can come looking for you if you do not arrive on time. Also be sure to carry a well charged mobile phone. If one of you slips, you might need a ride home.
4) Depending on the size of your dog, you can expect them to be uncomfortable when the temperature is below 32 degrees and at high risk for cold weather injury below 20 degrees. If your dog is young, senior, experiencing health conditions, or a Sighthound with little body fat, take extra care to keep them sufficiently warm. Know the signs of hypothermia and the location of the nearest emergency vet.
5) Understand how the wind will affect your experience with the cold before you go out. Click here for a windchill chart to calculate how cold you and your hound will feel.
6) Just like you would when driving, be aware of black ice and other slippery spots on sidewalks both for you and your hound.
7) Antifreeze, deicing chemicals, and salt can be really dangerous for dogs. Be suspicious of odd colored puddles and avoid areas that aren’t frozen when they should be.
9) Don’t allow your hounds to eat snow. It will lower your hound’s body temperature more quickly and might contain harmful chemicals such as deicers.
10) When you get home, help your hounds warm up more quickly by drying them off. Pay special attention to wiping their feet to ensure no salt, deicer, or other chemicals remain behind.
11) Finally, do not, under any circumstances, let your dog walk out ahead of you on a frozen lake or pond as it might not be as frozen as you think. Keep your leashes on and short.
If you really can’t get out, consider doggie daycares or other indoor activities such as increased training or food puzzles to keep your hounds active. Happy walking!

Going to the cardiologists has paid off! Heart block showed up on the ECG, so I’ve got a heart monitor on for a month in addition to various testing to see what kind. I have no fucking idea if this is related to the AVRC/DGS2 shit or not! Appointment with the specialists for that is next week or so, so well see then. I could go ahead and research now, but the more I am told about all of this, the less I give the slightest fuck about anything short of a solution.
But it is sort of funny, because one of the baby cousins has a complete heart block that her mother insisted was not genetic, and which I said:
I thought it was dumb to the point of flatly just banning discussion of it, so don’t I just have egg on my fucking face now?
Oh, well. Progress! And now I get to feel a little more ~*valid*~ in my general malaise. It can feel very silly to not manage the pancreatitis through horse-doses of tylenol and caffeinated beverages, when there are things that need to be done, but no amount of pop is going to wake me up if signals are just jumping fucking wires, haha.
Although high salinity can carry electrical currents, so maybe if I just waterboarded myself in very salty pop --
#d. rambles#there was a minorly funny moment in the office though#everyone reads 5'6" on my chart and assumes I am built normally!#and then they walk in and realise I am a fucking greyhound#the nurse was a little stressed out when she started explaining that you're supposed to move the heart monitor around post-charging in about#a one inch or half-inch diameter to avoid skin irritation!#I am not allowed to do that because it has One Spot it will work on me given the comparative sizes#because the device is big and my bones are fucking not I GUESS.#RIP my skin but god bless fucking zyrtec#the mysterious fainting waif disease

My dogs had the most intense walk of their life today. I don’t think they’re gonna move for another two weeks.
#italian greyhounds really only need one big walk every so often as well as frequent bathroom breaks#As a breed they don’t really do much so whenever they have to do exercise they just shut down for a while afterwards#They’re senior dogs too so they’re probably even more tired#Glad they had fun though. They got to walk around a dog friendly beach.#They couldn’t go in the water because it was seal infested and they fucking hate water so I doubt they wanted to#At one point Lilac threw a tantrum so I had to carry her heavy ass around in my backpack. The 50 fucking seals in the water were judging me

...hm. starting to think that the dog twisted my knee somehow. Probably while attempting to pull me down the stairs bc somebody (bf) walks down them at top fuckin speeds behind her and she's getting used to it.
anyways. my knee hurts and it's like a specific muscle so I gotta live with this now and hope that this doesn't impact me with getting a job soon. Bc i have so much lined up... so much.
#taks speaks#as a note she's almost completely leash trained now#she's just used to him and his long ass legs and not me and my careful stair walking#i tell him to take her out for nighttime#too many spiders and toads out at night#i like the toads. the dog does too. which was the problem#she's apparently stopped bc 'leave it' is a solid command now#it's the spiders... too many wolf spiders out here#hnngg either way. ow. and i love this dog but she's so fuckin fast#i now entirely understand how greyhound is a breed that was part of the start of catahoulas#its that mastiff and i think that one french dog that i can never remember#and bloodhound or coonhound or something#it's basically a giant merle greyhound with coonhound face
