Before they headed back to the mall, Josh told everyone to wait outside of the school. That he had something he had to do on his own. He walked through the halls alone and, as he did, he thought about Eli.

The feeling of his body going limp in his arms.

The look of realization on Eli’s face as he realized he was going to die.

Josh shook all of those thoughts away, not wanting to think about Eli being... dead. He found Eli’s locker, and broke the lock on it. He opened it up, grabbing his cards and looking over them.

There was a thump behind Josh, and he turned around. He saw nothing and went back to looking at the cards. He heard it again and sighed. “Angelica, you better not be sneaking up on me.”

“It’s me, you turd.” Eli said.

Josh turned around, chuckling in disbelief. He could see Eli’s spirit. “You...”

“I told you I’d haunt you if you touched my cards.” Eli said, looking at them in Josh’s hands. “They’re still in perfect condition!” He gushed.

Josh looked at him. “Eli..”

“What?”

“I’m sorry. I should’ve saved you.”

“Ah... it’s too late now, Wheeler.” Eli chuckles, trying to reassure his friend.

Eli followed Josh out, and his spirit continued to follow Josh just to make sure his cards stayed safe.
