Can we hear more thoughts on self-aware skully in a halloween-themed otome?? I think it's such a fun concept! Thinking of him, loving us knowing that he will never have us<33

:D the basic idea is that the love interests are everyone in TNBC event and it focuses on you and them planning the perfect Halloween celebration alongside the residents of Halloween Town. Spend a week getting closer to and raising the affection meter of your beloved and perhaps he might confess on Halloween night under a brilliant moon! <3

Skully is a side character who is merely there to progress the plot; he doesn't have any real route for himself, nor does he have any of the mechanics the other characters have (affection meters). But if he did perhaps he might be the secret yandere route most otome games have...

Unfortunately, most of his scenes with you are very short and he's often there to make the love interest shine brighter. When Leona warns you not to listen to a fanatic like him, that only misfortune can come from readily believing everything he says, it's meant to make you fall for Leona and his protective charm. Or when Jamil asks Skully if he's doing okay when he notices how downcast he seems, it's to make you fawn over how considerate and observant he appears. But all of this is just part of pre-programmed characteristics. It's all part of a script. Skully plays his part in this drama, almost like a ghost as he floats through whichever route you choose to pursue, and with every replay he begins to realize there's more beyond the world he's confined to.

You can't actually like these characters, right? They're just caricatures. They're programmed to fall for you, but Skully's love for you is a natural progression! It's real. Sure, you click through some of his dialogue when it's too long, but please don't ignore him. >_< surely you don't agree with the others on their idea for Halloween! You think a somber Halloween is better, right? One that's quiet and solemn. One that's meant for reflection. One that's better spent alone. He knows you're a sweet, considerate person at heart. Surely you share his feelings on this matter.

The game has a feature where one of the love interests will visit you each day you log in during the seven-day timeframe, and it gives you chances to either raise or lower their affection meter when you interact with them. Imagine your surprise when Skully, who isn't a love interest and thus shouldn't be here, forces himself into the spotlight, hoping to have a private chat with you. He's so excited! Oh, what should he say? He isn't confined by the laws of the script, so he can say and do whatever he wants! It's how he's able to be so much more expressive than the other characters.

You watch in surprise as the blank bubble fills with a dialogue you've never encountered before:

Lovely person beyond the screen, I greet you with a kiss! Allow me to remind you of what the real Halloween is.

For the first part, yes! I'd like to think they talk it out, they live together so it's basically inevitable. Tho it would DEFINITELY take a lot of time to work things out... not bc they hate each other (FAR from it actually) it's just that, ya know, they didn't really leave on the best terms. I don't have that part fully thought out but they indeed do talk things out eventually.

Second, YES!!! 100 TIMES YES, John finds out that Bruce runs a business and is more than happy to help! It's gives JD stuff to do when he's not out exploring (cuz sometimes he goes out adventuring for funsies but he mostly stays on Vacay Island). He even cooks sometimes, since as the oldest brother JD would have to make food for everyone back when they all lived together.

I'd like to imagine him running around the Cantina carrying a huge plate of like nachos or smthn over his head lol

Thirdly, he's definitely the really cool and morally questionable uncle. JD lets the kids stay up sometimes, gives them a little bit more candy than they are allowed to eat, and he would watch Bruce and Brandi leave for a night out or smthn and then as soon as they're gone he turns to the kids and says "Okay, who in here wants to learn how to make traps :]". On the topic of traps, JD would absolutely teach the kids all the outdoor survival stuff that he'd learn over the years!

Tho of course, due to experience with 4 younger brothers, he still does know how to take care of them. I like to imagine that if Bruce and Brandi are both tired after a long day of work, JD would step in and make food for the kids and watch over them so that the couple can rest. They really do appreciate the extra set of hands.

Oh! And JD would 100 percent tell the kids stories about how he got each of his scars, however some stories maaaaay be a bit more exaggerated than others hehe...

Also, as a bonus, Rhonda lives on Vacay Island with the bros and Brandi. I like to believe that JD stays with Rhonda instead of the house where the others live. As for Bruce, he doesn't mind this. Bruce is very fond of Rhonda, tho he could never be as close to her as JD is but that's fine. He's actually been inside Rhonda quite a few times, he likes it in there, it makes him feel safe...

That's pretty much it for now. I've got a few things planned for this au tho so be prepared teehee 😈

OKAY THE JO ASK I MENTIONED

I'm working on next week's video and it's just like 8 Characters Appearing In Y8 or whatever, and there's a lot I've scrapped to keep it manageable, but obviously I re-listened to the teaser trailer and it got me thinking about Y8 Jo... as usual...

RGG's connection with reality is tenuous at best, but in the case of prison life especially, it's pretty obvious it's Mostly modeled off of movies and other media. Which is fine, RGG is more often than not actively "going for RGG-ism rather than realism" (per staff interview), but it does mean I'll be BSing my way through most of this ask <3

So unlike America, in Japan, inmates can't just make a list of people who can visit them (I would cry if that were the case). Only family, people connected to the case/law enforcement/civil servants, and people who need to consult them about personal matters with legal consequences (e.g. marriage, childcare, employment) can get in.

Friends and associates aren't generally barred from visitation, but Basically It's A Pain In The Ass that requires consistent correspondence to prove they know each other. On top of wardens summarily rejecting visitation requests they don't think will be Productive for the inmate, there's an additional challenge for someone like Ichi as people with criminal records are deemed Bad Influences and so face higher rates of rejection and letter confiscation.

Now. ABSOLUTELY none of this Actually Matters because we've seen Yasuko (who absolutely should have a right to visitation) get rejected and people who probably shouldn't have a right be able to get in. Most wardens don't actually do their jobs (either because they're corrupt or because they're My Man Kosaka From Y5). Because of that corruption, even if a big deal is made of it (50/50 on that), it shouldn't be too hard for someone like Ichi to arrange a visit. It's just down to whatever Yokoyama and co. think is the best for the story.

HOWEVER. It did get me thinking. Because even before I noticed it was Jo's voice, I noticed he definitely didn't sound surprised to see Ichi. He doesn't miss a beat greeting him. And "been a long time, Ichi" has some nuance to it for being such a simple phrase; if you're saying it, and you're Jo, you're not only not surprised to see Ichi, but also the one who's starting the conversation proper and in control of the conversation, whether Ichi knows it or not. At least that's how it's been used so far and how it's generally used in media.

So it's like, What's The Circumstance Here where Ichi is not only able to meet him but Jo also isn't surprised... are you playing it cool... are you gonna be cunty... have you been writing/calling so you know to expect it... do you have other reasons to expect it... If I May Dream A Moment are you meeting outside of prison, so Ichi's the one who's caught by surprise...

Pinkshift is a recent descovery for me, but I've been listening to their I'm gonna tell my therapist on you on repeat the past few weeks.

I want to thank akajustmerry for their service to society for their playlist sharing sapphic music by poc artists. But also I want to thank them for including more rock/punk artists too. Despite all the fuck authority mentality, the punk scene is not kind to female artists and it is mostly a "white" genre. I'm so happy to see some of my favourites poc artists in the punk scene getting some recognition

proclaiming we're in a lesbian music renaissance NOW thanks to artists like Billie Eilish, Chapell Roan, Fletcher, Phoebe Bridgers, Dove Cameron and Renee Rapp is qWHITE interesting to me (dgmw I like those artists but)........... people are acting like Janelle Monae, Victoria Monet, Hayley Kiyoko, Arlo Parks, Halsey, Kehlani, Syd, Dua Saleh, Raveena, Kelela, and even Megan Thee Stallion haven't been CONSISTENTLY making music about loving women and eating pussy for well over a decade. is it only a "sapphic music renaissance" when white lesbians and queer women do it?

A dawn elf no longer, a spring fey no longer, a drow no longer, a human no longer. Severon was once more reborn, rising from the ashes that he had help to make. There was a mixture of pride and sheepishness to him when he thought back on the children that he had created that had nearly destroyed all realms. But the knowledge he'd gained was imperative and so Severon had retained all the memories that he knew he would have otherwise lost. Though he had sworn to his mother that he would no longer ever create his own souls, Severon's mind could not be halted. There was much more he would work to help create for their new world - this odd, tentative peace that the Triumvir had tried to make. He was under no impression it would last.

So it was best to prepare. Severon had rebuilt his laboratory and so much more, creating a place where part of the future of the dark elves would be built. "What do you think?" he asked the other elf, grinning. "Not of my laboratory, I'm full aware that it is magnificent. But of... all of this. The new leadership, the alliances... everything"
