Menstrual Cups and Cloth pads

I’m a 14 year old virgin Filipina who has been wearing pads ever since I started my period (1 month before my 12th birthday) but this period, I’m trying out menstrual cups for the first time.

Let me get started first when I discovered modern reusable menstrual products. As you might know, I’m extremely environmentally conscious and this summer, I became interested in packing bug out bags. So due to my extensive research in Pinterest, I stumbled upon cloth pads then menstrual cups.

It took me weeks before I mustered the courage to buy some from a local manufacturer in the Philippines. They’re called GreenPads, you can find them in Facebook, Shopee, and even Instagram. They sell cloth pads of various sizes, wet bags, and more cloth products. Their pads are just so comfortable. The thick pads are a little hard to dry due to the humidity that comes with the rainy season here and it was physically tiring to wash them since my mom would not allow me to wash them in the washing machine so I just had to buy a menstrual cup because my flow is super heavy.

So I went to Shopee and found local menstrual cup sellers. There is a local brand called the Sinaya cup which is sold in their own website but I found it too expensive (1199 Philippine pesos) so I bought a purple Anytime cup size 1 (the cup is just 700 pesos). I’ve read that it’s a Sckoon cup spin-off and it’s one of the smallest cups in the market which makes it appropriate for me.

So far my cup is working fine. I use the push down fold since it’s the smallest fold. It’s a little uncomfortable to get out and bloody, really bloody but I’m not bothered as much as before since I already had experience cleaning cloth pads by hand. The long tail helps with getting it out a lot, it’s great for people with high cervices. 

The Anytime cup size 1 is small for a heavy flow so I have to pour the contents out frequently during my second day. I use a cloth pad for backup since I don’t trust my period and myself to know when it’s full.

It’s really great to sleep without having to worry about back and side leaks. I hope this post helps eliminate your doubts on menstrual cups.
