This movie should be seen across the country as this depicts the reality of Philippine Society where justice and law are for those who are in power. A simple story with powerful and heartfelt message . Directed by Zig Dulay, my fave director since 2023’s MMFF and the director of Fireflies. Surprisingly, the Ph cinema have step up their game and I confidently say that Green Bones is a worthy movie. Hope this reach to international spectators as well.

Forever thinking about that one scene in Jade City where Shae asked Hilo about why he wasn’t worried about her betraying him and Hilo being Hilo just laughed it off saying that if Shae decided to betray him then he would have deserved it because he must have been a terrible brother for his sister to want to kill him.

I just…he’s such a complex character to love.

How fitting for the story to start and to end at the Twice Lucky, this was one of the best book series I've ever read in my life and will forever hold place among my favorites, I'm sure I'll still find a lot of things to say about it but for now it's enough to say it will be remembered

Can I recommened you a book series that I'm currently obsessed with and can't put down? If you didn't read The Greenbone Saga yet (Jade City, Jade War and Jade Legacy) you really, really should start. Best way I can describe it - mafia with magic, tons of political intigue, war between clans and the characters you'll fall in love with fairly quickly (I think, like me, you'll absolutely adore Anden)!

I love the Greenbone Saga books but the covers are kinda dull. Then I see the German language cover for the first translation coming out later this year and god damn I'm buying one just to have that cover.

Not only does it have the best technical writing of any novel series I've read, not only does it have sick psychic wuxia fights, but it also has my favorite Cockroach character of all time, a shitty little weasel of a man who against all odds, cannot be killed by the magical mafia families whose lives he accidentally ruins by being a greedy little shit, I love you bero

im aware this is an insane thing to say but i fucking. love characters that are just cockroaches. and i dont mean like. gross i mean they just do not fucking die. they can survive anything. they will outlive EVERYONE because they just will not die no matter what be it because they have a reason or because they literally cannot stop surviving the odds i love it i love it

Shae said Niko's face might be Lan's but his look was all Hilo and that got me thinking.

I had assumed the book would go the duration of the war practically, Hilo's time as pillar. In that sense, I thought since Lan was always conglomerated for being a great peacetime pillar it made sense he died with the peace. Hilo, on the other hand, stepped into power in the war and made of himself something no one believed he could and that he would never have become if not for taking in this responsibility, and against all odds, he's great at it, Shae says he's a grear pillar, more specifically a wartime pillar.

So, I thought the end of the book would tie itself to Hilo's death and the end of the war, coming back to peace and Niko would get to power and, like his father, be a great peacetime pillar.

Except I was totally ignoring Niko isn't only Lan's son, he's also Hilo's. Shae says in one moment that her and her brothers are "summer children" to put it like that, they grew up under the shadow of the Torch with expectations of honor and greatness. Niko was raised in war, and it that's not bad enough he left Kekon and saw an even worst reality. He's not just a peacetime pillar, and he's also not a war one, he's the thin edge of this blade, Lan and Hilo together.
