How dare the realtors advertise that this incredible 1907 Victorian in Roanoke, VA is zoned MX and can be used as a business or medical office. I shudder to think of it renovated with neon lights, office cubicles and public toilets. The magnificent 7bd, 5ba, 6,020 sq ft home is for sale for $1.350m.
Wow, they must've spent years furnishing this home. Can you believe this? Can you imagine the holes there are in these walls?
The sitting room includes a breakfast table.
Wow, look at how the chairs match the wall. I rather like this green.
Colorful fairytale kitchen. I love this. If you look past all the stuff, you'll see that it's really quite simply done. There aren't any cabinets, just some shelving and a hutch.
Even the original pantry is an explosion of color. How are they going to pack all this up? It's staggering.
Back here, we have a sun porch. Wow. It's overwhelming.
I knew there had to be a 2nd sitting room somewhere. Here it is.
The 1st floor bath with a fancy commode seat for your guests.
Look at the fancy radiator. Even the hall with the service stairs is decorated to the nines. Who dusts all this stuff?
And, here we are on the 2nd level. They have a cute little office in this alcove. Nice that it has doors if you need privacy.
This must be the primary bedroom. Very nice.
Here's another nice bedroom. I like the black, red and yellow.
This looks like a walk-in closet.
The baths are so decorated they don't even look like baths.
Here we have what looks like a sewing room.
Stairs to the finished attic.
It's beautiful up here.
Bath- all the toilets are fitted with commode seats. I don't know, they look a little icky.
Is this a 4th level? So many decorated rooms! And, they're going to move all this stuff out?
Even the basement is packed.
Outside there's a pergola and lots of matching metal lawn furniture.
Large patio. Wow, I wonder if that coach will convey w/the property.
The lot is .27 acre. You can see the coach from the air.

New Fairly OddParents 'fic today!
50 Words of Dev and Hazel
📖 Read on FFN || Read on AO3
🌃 City Lights AU
✨ More Fairly OddParents 'fics
🎲 Randomlists.com's 50-word generator
50 scene snippets about a snotty rich boy (self-improvement in progress) and an anxious newcomer to the big city (Livin' big and lovin' life) - Set during "The Treble With Rivals" and the week following.
OR, Dev and Hazel go to Tokyo, say hi to Dev's mom, and Dev picks on orchestra kids because #Band For Life.
(First 5 prompts under the cut)
1. Zoo
"Wait… Your dad runs a zoo for the most expensive and difficult animals to keep in captivity? That's so…" Hazel searched a moment for the right word before settling on, "out of pocket."
"My grandpa started it, and it's not without ulterior motives," Dev told her honestly. But even after her very first trip to Dimmadome Zoo, Hazel stood by her belief that maintaining this place was the best investment Dale had ever made.
And maybe, leaning his folded arms against the narwhal exhibit rail, watching her bounce and babble to the pink elephant and green otter plushes in her hands, Dev thought so too.
2. Bear
"Uh, Dev? I don't think this is the best move we could make in this situation…"
"I've always wanted to pet the polar bear cubs," he said, already hopping the fence. "C'mon, Hazel! We have fairies!"
The purple au pair drone whirring behind him let out a groan. "Dev, we HAVE to talk to your dad about installing better railings in this place…"
3. Travel
"COSMO! WANDA! I WISH WE WERE IN TOKYO!!"
"Ooh! Make it a sushi place!"
"Just run!"
4. Heal
✨ 東京 プーフ! ✨
Dev's next slamming footstep plunged into nothing. He flipped forward into frigid water… Except, through the water, like his whole body had just been splurted with gel and wrapped in itchy feathers. And... whiteness. Or pinkness? Dev stretched out a hand, feeling blindly in the rush of twisting space for Hazel, but he'd left his hands with the polar bears and screaming made no sound.
Then the world snapped into place again like a rubber band. When Dev blinked, it was dark… Maybe early morning. He found himself sitting upright on what felt like padded patio furniture, holding a menu in one hand and a purple paprika shaker in the other. Uh. Do sushi places usually have paprika shakers? From the looks of it, Peri had dropped him in an outdoor dining experience on some kind of waterfront, right across from Hazel… and a very confused polar bear. Who also had a menu in her big, clawed paws. Dev lifted his shades and squinted against the hazy fairy lights. Do bears like sushi? I guess it IS made of fish…
Hazel recovered faster. Opening her hand, she hissed to the salt and pepper shakers, "When I said 'We,' I didn't mean the bear."
"You should be more specific," the green shaker griped. But with a glimmer of his metal cap, the bear disappeared in a snappy ✨ Dimmadelphia poof! ✨
"40,000 yen per roll during dinner rush," Peri muttered. "And if I'm calling it out as pricy, that's saying something."
Adrenalin churned like whitewater rapids through his body, so Dev put down the sushi menu and took the deepest meditative breaths he could. Huh- Maybe Mr. Guzman's relaxation lessons were onto something. Hazel leaned her elbows on the table, hand on her forehead. Is she-?
"Are you okay, Hazel?"
Hazel took a big breath of her own, rolling through it like a cat in a sunbeam. She pushed back her hair. "I think so, yeah. It's just being chased across the ice caps by an angry mother bear. No big deal. You?"
"Yeah. I think so. Ihhh." Did she-? Should I-? Ah, too many thoughts bubbling up, overlapping- Dev took the leap; made the move: "I wish all Hazel's scratches were gone."
… Those were just from tripping mid-run while they escaped the bear, right?
5. Impress
"I'm impressed, Dev." Hazel smiled across the table, then tilted her pressed-together hands forward and dropped any glitter and fun in her eyes through the floor. "That was crazy, impulsive, and totally dangerous even for you."
"Uhh… I guess I might've got carried away back there." You know what would be really nice right about now? "I wish I had my tablet," he whispered to Peri, who sighed (as usual- overworked college student he was or what the ever) and poofed up exactly that.

honestly the ceiling fan isn’t that weird to me like it’s not common but i’ve seen it before in like a sort of outdoor porch space which i think(?) is what that is, and they just don’t have furniture for it. like put a metal patio chair + table out there and that fan looks 100% more normal imo. what’s really getting me is that the brick thing is definitely a column like 1 foot away from that exterior wall + the other concrete lookin structure behind that. like i don’t want to speculate too much for obvious safety reason but what is goin on with that house bro
oh also yeah the green is kinda bad looking but for me the endearing factor wins out. like awww dream made the house His color :]
Someday one of them will upload a snapchat and we'll see a slide that ends up in a hole in the wall and they will never acknowledge it as if it was the normalest thing ever
Fine it IS endearing that Dream's house is green. But is still an ugly green

"Leading Architectural Trends for Luxury Villas in 2024"
In 2024, luxury villa architecture is evolving to meet the demand for designs that blend style with purpose. Modern luxury villas prioritize elegance, functionality, sustainability, and technological integration, making them an ideal choice for those seeking both comfort and a reflection of their personal lifestyle. Here are the top architectural trends for luxury villas in 2024 that are redefining how we think about high-end living spaces.
1. Eco-Conscious and Sustainable Designs
Sustainability continues to be a key focus in luxury villa architecture. Villas are now being designed with energy-efficient appliances, solar power, and water recycling systems to reduce their environmental footprint. Eco-friendly materials like bamboo, reclaimed wood, and recycled metal are frequently used, while green features such as rooftop gardens and living walls add a natural touch that enhances air quality and provides a refreshing aesthetic.
2. Blurring Indoor and Outdoor Spaces
One of the most notable trends in luxury villas for 2024 is the seamless integration of indoor and outdoor spaces. Floor-to-ceiling glass doors, expansive patios, and open-concept living areas allow natural light to flow freely through the villa while connecting indoor spaces with outdoor scenery. Features like sliding glass panels, outdoor kitchens, and private plunge pools make the outdoors a natural extension of the home, creating versatile spaces for both relaxation and entertainment.
3. Integration of Smart Home Technologies
Luxury villas are getting smarter with the integration of home automation technology. From temperature control and lighting to security systems, smart home features provide convenience and efficiency at the touch of a button. Advanced features such as voice-activated controls and AI-driven climate management systems add comfort while optimizing energy use. These smart systems give villa owners a high degree of control, enhancing their living experience and boosting security.
4. Refined Minimalism with Luxurious Touches
Minimalism remains a popular style, with an emphasis on sleek, uncluttered interiors. In luxury villas, minimalist design meets opulence with high-end materials like marble, fine wood, and carefully chosen lighting fixtures. The focus is on creating spaces that are both simple and elegant, where each element is thoughtfully selected to enhance the villa's aesthetic. This balance between sophistication and simplicity brings a sense of calm to the space, letting materials and craftsmanship speak for themselves.
5. Embracing Biophilic Design
Incorporating natural elements into villa designs is on the rise, as homeowners look to create spaces that promote relaxation and well-being. Features like large windows, skylights, and indoor gardens bring a sense of nature indoors, fostering a serene atmosphere. In 2024, luxury villas are expected to incorporate more biophilic elements such as indoor trees, natural water features, and wall-mounted greenery, all of which support a calming, natural environment.
6. Versatile, Multi-Functional Spaces
Today’s luxury villas prioritize flexible spaces that can adapt to different needs, offering homeowners more options. For instance, a home office may double as a study or guest room, while an entertainment room could serve as a home gym. Hidden storage and versatile furniture enhance this adaptability, making the space efficient and uncluttered. This focus on multi-functionality caters to the varied lifestyles of modern homeowners, ensuring that every corner of the villa serves a purpose.
7. Personal Wellness Retreats
With well-being becoming a central theme, many luxury villas now feature dedicated wellness spaces like yoga rooms, meditation areas, or mini spas. Homeowners seek more than just a place to live; they want a space that supports relaxation and self-care. Amenities such as saunas, hydrotherapy tubs, and cold plunge pools allow residents to enjoy spa-like experiences within their homes, creating a personal wellness sanctuary.
Conclusion
The trends shaping luxury villa architecture in 2024 are a reflection of evolving lifestyle preferences, from eco-friendliness and smart technology to personal wellness and minimalist design. These villas are more than just residences; they are retreats that provide comfort, functionality, and sophistication. As luxury villas continue to adopt these modern trends, they set new standards for what it means to live in a truly refined and enriching environment.

What Are the Latest Trends in Long Island Interior Renovations
In recent years, the world of interior renovations has seen exciting new trends that are transforming homes across Long Island. Homeowners are investing in creative ways to enhance their spaces, making them not only more beautiful but also more functional. As the demand for home improvement continues to rise, businesses like Happy Remodeling are leading the charge in helping residents achieve their dream interiors. Here are some of the latest trends dominating Long Island interior renovations.
1. Open Floor Plans with Flexible Spaces
Open floor plans have been a popular choice for a while, but the emphasis is shifting towards flexibility within these spaces. Homeowners are looking for adaptable areas that can be used for multiple purposes, whether it's a home office, a play area for kids, or an entertainment space. This trend allows for greater versatility and customization, meeting the evolving needs of today's families.
2. Sustainability and Eco-Friendly Materials
As environmental awareness grows, many Long Island homeowners are prioritizing sustainability in their renovations. This includes the use of eco-friendly materials such as reclaimed wood, recycled metal, and low-VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) paints. These choices not only reduce the carbon footprint of the renovation but also create healthier living environments. Happy Remodeling has seen a surge in requests for green building materials, reflecting this growing consciousness.
3. Smart Home Integration
Smart technology is increasingly becoming a must-have in modern interior renovations. Homeowners are integrating smart lighting systems, thermostats, and security cameras into their homes for added convenience and energy efficiency. Voice-activated assistants, automated shades, and intelligent kitchen appliances are also trending, transforming homes into high-tech havens. This blend of design and technology ensures homes are future-ready.
4. Bold Colors and Textures
Neutral tones have long dominated the interior renovation scene, but bolder choices are making a comeback. Dark, moody colors like navy, forest green, and charcoal are being used to create dramatic, sophisticated spaces. In addition, textured finishes such as plaster walls, stone backsplashes, and natural wood elements add depth and interest to the home’s overall aesthetic.
5. Multi-Functional Kitchens
The kitchen remains the heart of the home, and recent renovation trends reflect its evolving role. Instead of being just a place to cook, kitchens are being designed as multi-functional hubs where families can gather, work, and entertain. This includes large kitchen islands with seating, built-in coffee stations, and even home office nooks. Happy Remodeling has been at the forefront of creating these dynamic spaces that cater to the modern lifestyle.
6. Spa-Like Bathrooms
Creating a spa-like experience at home has become a top priority for Long Island homeowners. Bathroom renovations are focusing on luxury and relaxation, with features such as walk-in showers, soaking tubs, heated floors, and ambient lighting. High-end materials like marble, glass, and wood are often incorporated to elevate the look and feel of these personal retreats.
7. Vintage and Mid-Century Modern Influences
Many homeowners are embracing a mix of modern and vintage design elements in their renovations. Mid-century modern furniture, retro tiles, and antique decor are making their way into Long Island homes, offering a nostalgic yet timeless appeal. This blend of old and new creates a unique and personalized space.
8. Outdoor Living Spaces
Outdoor living is becoming an extension of indoor spaces, with many homeowners investing in patios, decks, and outdoor kitchens. These areas are designed for year-round use, featuring fire pits, comfortable seating, and weather-resistant materials. The goal is to create a seamless flow between indoor and outdoor spaces, perfect for entertaining or simply enjoying the fresh air.
Final Thoughts
Whether it's embracing bold new designs or incorporating the latest technology, Long Island interior renovations are continuously evolving to meet the needs of modern homeowners. Businesses like Happy Remodeling are at the forefront of these trends, providing expert guidance and craftsmanship to transform homes into stylish, functional spaces.
If you're considering a renovation project on Long Island, exploring these latest trends is a great way to add value to your home and enhance your living experience.

Old wooden pallets are easy to find and by putting small pots or planters, it is possible to create a beautiful accent wall. This provides your space an earthy and organic texture which an appropriate match for individuals with natural preference.
These wooden pallets are quite sturdy, and it is feasible to put small pots of herbs, flowers or even artificial plants on it. 2. Hanging Pocket Planters
Pocket planters hanging are one of the most engaging and functional types of vertical gardens. These planters are normally made of fabric material with pouch where you put your plants. They say that the fabric lets the plants breathe so it is actually good for real plants.
Nonetheless, if you desire for minimalist gardening, then you can always stuff these pockets with artificial plants in Chennai or Delhi. They are ideal for use on kitchen walls, over living room or even bedroom walls. It appears that they occupy no space on the floor and are also very easy to mount. Also, they instantly blend a little hue into your walls.
3. Vertical Garden Using Shelves
If you want more flexibility, consider using shelves as vertical garden where plants are placed on the shelves. Small wooden or metal shelves also enable you to stack your planters in various levels, giving your walls a little more appeal. They also allow you easy flexibility of changing the plants or decorations depending on the season or even your preferred choice.
It is relevant for everyone who would like to try artificial plants in Gurgaon or pots with succulents, herbs, etc. It also works well for anyone who rearranges furniture often in an effort to update their living space.
4. Modular Planter Panels
Modular planter panels are a great contemporary solution for creating vertical gardens. These are the panels which can be fixed in your wall and it is convenient to add or remove the plant holders. If you want a plan that is flexible and convenient, it is one of the best options that you can opt for.
Another form of the vertical wall planter structure can be convenient for a small area because you can change the size and position of the structure easily. It can also be combined with real plants or with artificial plants to have purchases from the artificial plants wholesale market of Delhi and have a stylish outlook. Modular panels are suitable for use in both interior and exterior environments.
5. Recycled Container Planters
If you enjoy crafting, then you will find recycled container planters, which are a great way to get a vertical garden. You can plant small herbs or flowers in used tin cans, glass bottles or plastic containers. They can be painted, or decorated according to the theme of the home, which makes it more of a home addition.

I first posted this 1947 art deco home in Baltimore, Maryland about 3 yrs. ago and the 2bd, 1.5ba house just sold for $239K.
The living room has glass block, curved walls and a fireplace wall, all original.
The living room flows into the dining room to reveal the other side of the double-sided fireplace. Some of the furniture was included in the sale.
The wall shelving is perfect for a tea pot collection or something of similar size.
Bedroom #1 has cool cowboy wallpaper that was very popular for little boys rooms.
The blue bathroom sink is definitely retro.
Bedroom #2 is small, and appears to be a pass thru to the kitchen and 1/2 bath.
The 1/2 bath has a stainless sink with baseball faucet handles. Not sure if the suitcases are decorative or for storage.
The kitchen has original metal cabinets and linoleum floors.
A kitchen table fits in this pantry area.
I don't know why there's a sink, stove and fridge in here.
Small sun porch in the back. This home does need work and seems like it's been slowly deteriorating due to neglect.
There's a patio in the back. What's going on with the roof? It looks like the brick deteriorated and they just painted over it.
The yard is dirt, so it will need some landscaping.
Lake Montebello is across the road.
Before they repainted it green it was yellow.
