August & September 2024 : Labor Day Weekend

He's hard to spot but there is a Goldfinch enjoying our echinacea seeds in there:

All the scouting lakes & ponds finally paid off. We caught over thirty fish on Sunday but almost all of them, like this Green Sunfish, weren't keepers. It is a pretty fish all the same. My queen & I call them Green Meanies because, despite their size, they strike the bait like they were at least twice their size:

My queen & the lake. The lake is in an undeveloped section of a suburban neighborhood plot. We'll fish here until they put up the "no fishing. Lake access for HOA members only" signs:

Out of the thirty plus fish caught, this bream & green sunfish were the only ones that we harvested. The rest were released to hopefully grow bigger:

I was thinking about late game Meanie Greenies. Linda accuses the local government of biological warfare in creating tiny super soldiers, which is absolutely wrong, but she’s just so nosy and full of science fiction media. So, they get arrested for sneaking into top secret areas, and by “they” I mean Linda forced Ryan in there, while clearing out the offices of Greenies. So there’s a level where they catch greenies in prison before having their boss sign for their release.

At the same time, the government asked of the professors at the local university if they studied or heard of these Greenies before and all eyes turn to Professor Walter who has been obsessively experimenting and theorizing about Greenies origins ever since they first appeared. So, they give him a bath and the college allows him a bigger room to continue his research with the help of his star pupils and Lewis.

After getting the two out of prison, the governor tells Ryan and Linda the truth behind the documents. It’s revealed that the entire town was quarantined way before the first chapter where the neighborhood was quarantined. The government didn’t know how to handle the situation, so they just shut off all contact to prevent spread. And it is also revealed that the Greenies are in fact aliens from space that came crashing here through a meteor.

It flips back to the college where Garret tells about his theory, Professor Walter explains how long he’s been observing the greenies, and Jay and Lewis reveal that they saw the meteor when it first landed before it disappeared suddenly. Suggesting, maybe thats why all the Greenies look like Lewis.

A giant rumble shakes up the town, all the characters feel it and go outside. And the second to last chapter begins.

"Willow," muttered the Duchess, "Your cat."

The feline in question was sat at the edge of her desk, like a big white puffball of indignation. Evergreen's large gloved hand reached for a stack of papers, which so happened to be under the domain of Cloudwisp's fluffy tail. However, they did not budge, and neither did the cat.

"Willow, your damned cat!" She set her hands on her hips and stared the beast down. She was not about have the precious embroidery torn off her waistcoat.

"If we are letting animals out and about, why not the dogs?" the Duchess cried again louder, in her falsetto, "Oh, Snails and Rosebud, they would like to play too!"

The hallway outside clamored with the frenzy of heels. Then a knock at the double-doors. The Duchess shuffled her way across the rug, a look of smug victory crossing her features. "I would like you to meet Lady Willow," she said, "She leaves her things where they do not belong."

The Duchess opened the door to a stout dendie of about thirty, whose greenish face was so flush with purple, it almost matched her gown. She had two small tusks protruding from her lower lip, which trembled with feeling. Perched on her little nose was a pair of round black spectacles. The Duchess had looked remarkably similar at that age.

"Mother, you wouldn't!" she cried. Evergreen rolled her eyes and swung her arm towards the desk. She would. But not today.

was ozgog alone on ozgog ? was she the only one of her kind who had hatched there and would that more solitary existence have any bearing on how she would react to coming upon another of her kind ?

𝕿𝖍𝖊𝖗𝖊 𝖆𝖗𝖊 𝖔𝖙𝖍𝖊𝖗 𝖉𝖗𝖆𝖌𝖔𝖓𝖘 𝖔𝖓 𝕾𝖔𝖙𝖍𝖔𝖗𝖞𝖔𝖘 , 𝖇𝖚𝖙 𝖎𝖙'𝖘 𝖎𝖒𝖕𝖔𝖘𝖘𝖎𝖇𝖑𝖊 𝖙𝖔 𝖘𝖆𝖞 𝖜𝖎𝖙𝖍 𝖆 𝖈𝖔𝖓𝖙𝖎𝖓𝖊𝖓𝖙 𝖆𝖘 𝖒𝖆𝖘𝖘𝖎𝖛𝖊 𝖆𝖘 𝖙𝖍𝖊 𝖌𝖗𝖊𝖊𝖓 𝖍𝖊𝖑𝖑 𝖏𝖚𝖘𝖙 𝖍𝖔𝖜 𝖒𝖆𝖓𝖞 𝖙𝖍𝖊𝖗𝖊 𝖆𝖗𝖊 . the expanse of the continent might yield to a larger variety of dragons comparable potentially to the beasts of old valyria ( debatable since dragons seem to thrive best when housed near volcanic activity, but not unlikely as it's impossible to prove ) which would demand enormous hunting grounds , with vast territories for ranging , leaving them relatively widespread, and more difficult to find. there have been skulls and bones of dragon kind found by the expeditions that have gone to explore yeen reported back to the great cities of the area --- but as to whether or not there are any that live , as far as the known world is aware , is a mystery . for all we know ozgog's mother was the only one to have settled safely enough to nest and raise her younglings , and live to lay another clutch . her father , if there was one , is equally as enigmatic . we simply cannot say . in her formative years it's very likely , in evidence of her behaviors around "female" dragons (which in itself is debatable since i've headcanoned that dragons are able to asexually reproduce / change genders depending on environmental factors , so this could simply be a behavior exhibited by lingering masculine tendencies from a life ozgog no longer leads) , that she at one point had been considerably sociable , a trait learned from growing with siblings --- as to how many , and whether or not they still live , is impossible to tell . her behaviors towards "males" has indicated that there at some point has been conflict between her and another precludes one of two things : she has been in contact with another dragon either on sothoryos , or that it happened on westeros --- likely the cannibal since their territories nearly border one another --- and neither went well . the heavy scarring she bears on her underbelly could potentially have happened in her infancy , potentially having been savaged by either the wyverns known for their horrific aggression , or the low lying centipedes , long as a man's arm . that she survived could predicate that she was still being nurtured by her mother at the time . the venom of the insect could be the reason why her eyes are the way they are , ozgog possibly having nearly succumbed to the venom . the mauling of her face ( her improperly healed jaw and the heavy scarring and missing flesh , as well as a few of her mandible's horns ) seem fresher , and having been made with by something larger . whether it was an altercation over food , territory , or an aggressive breeding male / the cannibal trying to make a go at her own clutch of eggs , we just don't know . so whether or not her life spent on sothoryos was a lonely one , i'd like to think wasn't the case . she could have still spent her time with her mother or even siblings as pack behavior has been suggested with drogon , rhaegal , and viserion when it comes to close relation . it could have been the disintegration of her familial structure that drove her to seek new lands . it very well could be they're still there , and her chronic pain is what drove her to leave sothoryos behind . she's always been highly aggressive --- that's what has helped her to survive such a violent environment . but i think it's trauma that's made her so vicious towards her masculine counterparts . ozgog's not necessarily lonely . she's just been through some shit .
