Африканский морской лес назван одним из 7 чудес света.

Агентство Bloomberg опубликовало свой список новых семи чудес света,  в котором особо отмечены леса водорослей, известные также как Великий африканский морской лес.

Леса водорослей расположены всего в 16 км от Кейптауна, Южная Африка, это разнообразная и удивительная экосистема.Он состоит из келпа, особого вида бурых морских водорослей, которые вырастают до очень больших размеров. Они растут на дне океана и могут достигать в длину 46 метров. Эти водоросли хорошо растут на мелководье в чистой воде при низких температурах.

По мере роста водоросли формируются в то, что мы называем лесом. Африканский морской лес выполняет ту же функцию, что и их калифорнийский аналог, предоставляя пищу и убежище для множества морских обитателей, от промысловых видов, таких как омары, раки и морские ушки, до крупных хищников, таких как капский морской котик. African Sea Forest Named One of the 7 Wonders of the World.

Bloomberg has released its list of the New Seven Wonders of the World, and the kelp forests, also known as the Great African Sea Forest, are a special mention.

Located just 10 miles from Cape Town, South Africa, the kelp forests are a diverse and fascinating ecosystem. They are made up of kelp, a type of brown seaweed that grows to very large sizes. They grow on the ocean floor and can reach lengths of up to 150 feet. These seaweeds thrive in shallow, clear waters at low temperatures.

As the seaweeds grow, they form what we call a forest. The African Sea Forest serves a similar function to its Californian counterpart, providing food and shelter for a variety of marine life, from game species like lobsters, crayfish, and abalone to large predators like the Cape fur seal. Perhaps the most fascinating aspect of the Great African Sea Forest is the diversity of shark species that call these pseudo-arboreal environments home. The forest is home to a number of rarely seen shark species, including the charismatic pyjama catshark and the shy spotted gully shark. Between the African Sea Forests are stunning reefs with gullies and channels.

Sand Island’s shoreline is pocked with sea caves carved by ice, wind, and the waves of Lake Superior. The lake has “higher water quality, lower watershed stress, and [lower] shoreline development stress than the other Great Lakes,” says Brenda Lafrancois, an ecologist for the National Park Service.

The Great Sand Sea Desert stretches over an area of 72,000km² linking Egypt and Libya. If you find yourself in a particular part of the desert in south-east Libya and south-western parts of Egypt, you'll spot pieces of yellow glass scattered across the sandy landscape. It was first described in a scientific paper in 1933 and is known as Libyan desert glass. Mineral collectors value it for its beauty, its relative rarity – and its mystery. A pendant found in Egyptian pharaoh Tutankhamun's tomb contains a piece of the glass. Natural glasses are found elsewhere in the world; examples include moldavites from the Ries crater in Europe and tektites from the Ivory Coast. But none are as rich in silica as Libyan desert glass, nor are they found in such large lumps and quantities. The origin of the glass has been the subject of debate among scientists for almost a century. Some suggested it might be from volcanoes on the moon. Others propose it's the product of lightning strikes ("fulgurites" – glass that forms from fusion of sand and soil where they are hit by lightning).

Aaaand all The Divers are done!

Born just over a year after the second litter, these two are the baby brothers of the group and mark the final of Otodus' litters.

Otodus planned to have another litter following, but contracted feline panleukopenia virus over halfway through pregnancy and became gravely ill. She ended up being taken by the owners of her partner at the time, Roman, upon his pleading for her to go to the vet, leaving The Hammerhead Shark as the de facto leader for two and a half moons. She was treated, then later spayed, and kept confined to the owner's nest for recovery. She returned one day without explanation with her two young kits in toe. Roman was not in company. The circumstances of these two's births is a sore topic amidst The Divers, Otodus becoming quick to anger if there is any reference to Roman or her sickness & recovery. Any facts within are ancient history.

The Nurse Shark has a dynamic range of expertise, usually growing bored of his job roles and squeezing into another when he gets the chance. He has some medical and craft knowledge, but currently (and with the greatest longevity) has taken to food preparation and cooking for the group. While he knows how, he isn't confident swimming, preferring to stick to the shore or boats built by the group. He's probably the most "normal" of The Divers, although that's not saying much…

and The Great White Shark. My main guy. Debatably the WORST of The Divers. A violent asshole who sees the world as his playground, he's honestly just here for a good time. But his use to the group with strength, hunting and aquatic prowess are undeniable. Most of his siblings are at least somewhat uneasy around him, and for good reason.
