The Wormton AU is officially two years old now! (I really gotta start writing faster...) For the occasion, I redrew the original two sketches of Wormton. I had a few ideas before I came up with the winner, but this was the first time he was a "computer worm" rather than just some worm on a string adjacent thing(s). Honestly, he hasn't changed that much; just became more fleshed out as a character and fictional species (and the fact that he used to be 3 feet tall).
The fic is officially at 150k words! That's about three Great Gatsbys, or one A Tale of Two Cities if you prefer. I'll yap about it below.
Tumblr media
Ahh, is any "take him home" style Spamton fic complete without him running away from the person trying to help him at some point? This might be the second time, actually. Does it still count as running away if you stalk someone daily afterwards? Unrelated question.
I've got an entire pile of angst to get through before these guys' relationship can be salvaged. Spamton really doesn't want to address his feelings, so he plays into the addisons' assumptions that his motivations were entirely transactional and that he is physically incapable of caring about them. And, when the addisons have so little to work with in the first place, it's an easy lie for him to spread, to the point where even Blue thinks he hates them at this point. This story would be so much shorter if this mf was mentally stable enough to be honest about his positive feelings instead of trying to repress them. Bro is so deep in the platonic closet
I got to write a (mostly verbal) fight scene? It was fun writing Pink chew Spamton out, because, while they're definitely still grossed out by him, they never hold his malworm status against him. They see him as a parasite because of the way he acts, not because he physically is one. I want Pink and the others to seem justified in their anger/disappointment, even if the readers would know that's he's not really as heartless as he claims to be. Trying to remove the pissed off 16 ft long writhing mass of muscle, teeth, and claws freeloading in your friend's closet by hand was never a good idea, though.
Man, I wanna talk about the plot in detail so badly 😭 I must limit myself to scraps so that I spend more time writing the fic than rambling about it. Last thing I'll say for now is that I've finally got a good plan for the resolution! The final length depends on how much fluff I want to add to the end. I need at least a little bit to make up for all this angst

If it makes you feel any better:
My dumb ass legitimately forgot that the First World War existed, and spent a good couple of minutes trying to figure out which war Gatsby could have possibly fought in.
Misread “bootlegging” as “bootlicking” and got laughed at by my entire English class.
Wondered how Jordan was a professional golf player because I didn’t think women were allowed to play sports until the 40s or something.
Pronounced “Buchanun” as “Booch-ay-nun” for a good while until someone corrected me.
Thought Daisy flattened Myrtle out of revenge, only to remember she never met her and had no idea what she looked like (allegedly *suspicious eyes*)
Thought Meyer Wolfsheim was a mayor and thought Americans just spelt it differently.
Thanks to Gatsby’s constant use of “old sport”, I kept thinking he was an old man and had to constantly remind myself that he’s only thirty.
Decided I didn’t like the book the first time I read it because I hate love stories. Thank God we were analysing it, because oh boy, did I miss the entire point.
Isn't it significant that Gatsby dies on the first day of the 1930s?

I've started reading The Great Gatsby (I've fallen into the reading classical literature trap 😔. I really need to finish Crime and Punishment.)
Anyhow I think it's really interesting how Asagiri chose to characterize many of the people in BSD. Especially after learning that irl Fitzgerald was more of a cynical person (at least towards the end of his life) than his animated counterpart. And it made me think of all the other characters of the show and how their characterized.
What was Asagiri's purpose as he came together with these characters? Why'd he have some characters act as their irl counterparts while others act more like the characters they wrote or people in their lives?
These aren't really questions that I wanted the answers to they were moreso just thoughts that I had. I'd love to have a peek into this man's mind and how it works
I think a lot of us have fallen into that trap LMAO. This is my favorite topic though. I could talk about this forever because Kafka Asagiri is an interesting person who has integrated a lot of literature into this one series. I don't know what goes on in this man’s mind and I know these aren't literal questions, but I am interested in sharing what I know!
As you've pointed out, some characters do act more like the people in these works written by them than the actual people. BSD isn't purely just taking these authors, their relationships, and then implementing them just like that. it also takes these authors’ literary personas, their impact socially, and their works to make them into who they are. Asagiri is doing this because it makes it more interesting, but also imagine writing about this authors where most of them lived depressing lives with qualities that don’t make uh, the type of story you want to tell.
I’m impressed with how creative he is.
I’m trying to limit myself on how much I should talk about this, but I fear that I’ll leave out important bits about how Asagiri incorporates these people into the work. I’m also just jittering and excited. Like I almost forgot to bring up the fact the reason BSD has a war narrative is because it takes Japanese authors from Meiji to Shōwa era, so about the time Western influence kicked in, forcing them to modernize and keep up with the rest of the world during what is a fairly short time for huge development like this, to post-war Japan where, you know, the Occupation of Japan is happening and they have to intake the traumatic repercussions of everything before that.
This can make The Great War functionally WW2, but obviously not a one to one match. I’m not a historian or anything, but this should come to mind for anyone who’s in the know about some Japanese history. Now that I’m bringing it up though, Mori’s attitude during the flashback with Yosano is put into context because he pretty much says himself that he needs his country to realize that they keep up with the rest of the world and that the battlefield is changing, and real life Japan did not care about how they did that.
With N, Chuuya, and Stormbringer too. I’m almost hesitant to bring this up because it’s so serious, but yes, Japan did do lethal human experimentation for that same purpose to keep up with the rest of the world and prove themselves.
Ahh, I went off track. Sorry, we were talking about how Asagiri writes characters, right? There is a lot of crossover between the real authors and their writing, so it’s sorta hard to tell with people like Dazai where the work influence ends and the the real person begins.
For me currently in my classic lit research period, I’m almost upset at myself for barley reading anything by Ryuunosuke Akutagawa because he’s my favorite character. I’ve just been so caught up doing my Oda Sakunosuke essay that I don’t have too much time for other authors. I’ve also picked up “The Similitude of Blossoms: A Critical Biography of Izumi Kyōka” recently (and A New Hamlet by Osamu Dazai, but that’s not important).
Ah, how much should I talk about.… hmm… how about Chuuya as an example of Literary Voice vs Real Person…. Lucy Montgomery and Edgar Allen Poe for Social Impact (for Japan specifically)…. and then.. Oh whatever, I’ll figure it out. One day I’ll talk about Kyouka, but not now. I’d feel ill prepared.
If you’ve ever read a poem by Chuuya Nakahara, taken in the emotion and deep feeling, and then found any fun facts about his interactions with other authors, there’s a huge contrast between those two modes that can be jarring. Im sure you can tell how that carries over to BSD. I’m impressed by how Asagiri is able to balance both the brash attitude of Chuuya and the inner literary voice that voices the emotion and care he has in him.
Edgar Allen Poe is slightly more obvious than Lucy’s influence (or maybe it’s Lucy’s, ah it depends), but both pop out at you when it’s pointed out. He was one of the first American authors to be introduced to Japan and fairly popular, but mainly we would point to Edogawa Ranpo as the most blatantly influenced by him and who his name is quite literally attached to. While Lucy Montgomery isn’t attached to anyone in particular, Anne of The Green Gables was wildly distributed in Japan when there were few english children books and became a hit.
There’s a television series too if you search for it. Any redhead, pigtail-braided girl you see in some Japanese media is because of her! It’s probably why these two have the most presence in the story currently compared to other members of the Guild and work with the Agency at times.
There are times when Asagiri will use influences outside of the author’s own catalog to create them, some literary like Albert Camus’s The Stranger and The Myth of Sisyphus (in writing characters like Dazai or Fyodor, I could make a post about that), and some just of his own anime/manga interests in other series like Jojo, Cowboy Bebop, Black Lagoon, etc. if you’re familiar.
I’d feel bad if I don’t at least show one example of this so, how about an Odasaku example with The Long Goodbye by Reymond Chandler? I was going to avoid talking about him until the essay, but I can’t help myself. Many have pointed out these parallels before, but Asagiri did point it to be his favorite book last year in an interview.
If you’ve noticed that the presentation for Dark Era in the anime comes off like a Noir film just like how Untold Origins came off like a black and white samurai film, good job! The Long Goodbye is a Noir novel about a detective named Phillip Marlowe who is unable to let go of a case involving a friend that was accused of murdering his own wife, but supposedly commits suicide and confesses to it before Marlowe is able to leave custody. By the end of the book, he uncovers the real perpetuator (a past lover of Terry Lennox’s before he was ever called by that name) and finds out where Lennox really is by poking into the story of where the message he got was sent.
He comes in with a new look and identity, and he asks if it’s too early for a gimlet. They say their last few words to each other, Marlowe flipping back and forth from acknowledging him as Terry Lennox and as a person he never knew, and then Marlowe tells him that “he’s not here anymore”. Marlowe had already told him goodbye when it was sad and lonely, so Lennox does the same here. That ends that mutual, long goodbye and he never sees Lennox again.
The immediate response I’ve see about this is how it parallels the relationship between Dazai and Odasaku. In The Day I Picked Up Dazai, just like how Marlowe brings him to his home to clean him up and meet up at the same bar for the next few months of their friendship, Odasaku also does so with Dazai and drinks a Gimlet for reasons he doesn’t know. In reality, Gimlets are a representation of the friendship between Marlowe and Lennox as it’s Lennox’s favorite drink. It makes it a little painful when Marlowe ignores him when he ask to go get a gimlet at that same bar they always went.
Tumblr media
BEAST is more hyper specific about it by having Dazai ask the same question that Lennox asks when he gets smoked out and Odasaku asking for a gimlet with no bitters, which is specifically how Lennox takes it. Odasaku does not drink the gimlet at all though, showing that there is not friendship to start or accept or say goodbye to, as Lennox does ask Marlowe to drink a Gimlet to say goodbye to him in the letter. Just like TDIPUD is like their beginning, BEAST is their ending without ending because BEAST Dazai is not the same person he was friends with.
Odasaku fulfills being a detective and Dazai is the tragic friend with a past he doesn’t say anything about. Great. Now what I think people are missing when they entirely focus on Odasaku and Dazai when they talk about Lennox and Marlowe is that Lennox is narratively also Andre Gide.
If we were to split Lennox into three people just like his three identities, this is what it would look like:
The Friend: You help him out and don’t judge for his faults, in turn you go out to a bar with each other. It’s uneasy, but it’s worth a lot to the both of you. Eventually you have to part ways in death. (Dazai & Terry Lennox)
The Unknown: Is he someone you know? He acts like it, but he looks nothing like what you’ve encounter before. Maybe in some world you were, but that’s not now and it’s too late for this goodbye to be playing out. You let it happened though and you never see him again when he walks out that door. (BEAST Dazai & “Señor Maioranos”)
The Soldier: The past is right around the corner and its come to bite you in the ass. White hair and war memories haunting him with a scar as a reminder, he’s a reflection of you but maybe not. Who knows? (Andre Gide & “Paul Marston.”)
The initials “P.M.” of both his past name and Phillip Marlowe’s is meant to clue in how Eileen (the past lover) is connected to Lennox by her thinking of Marlowe as her past lover as she attempts to seduce him in some trance. What I’m trying to note here though is that you can take this as Lennox being another reflection of himself. It’s easy to do that reading for both Dazai and Gide as they’re both his foils and are purposely similar, but Gide aligns more with this past identity than Dazai does and retains his white hair.
Uhhh, wasn't planning to make a mini-analysis in the middle of my talking but okay. I'm leaving it off there. I went blank a lot while writing because I didn’t know what I wanted to comment on. There's too much to say about this large cast. I have way more literary fun facts and ideas to say, but nah.

Pairing : Leroy Jethro Gibbs x Reader Wife
Jethro’s  POV:
“ Hello Y/N ahh Mrs Gibbs , Mrs Boss” Tony rambled as Y/N entered the bull pen.
“ Good Morning to you Tony, Y/N is fine you know” she chuckled.
“ So how was the honeymoon. Boss didn’t give a single detail. “Tony rambled.
“ A lady never kiss and tell “ Y/N chuckled. “ Jethro did you prepare the report state asked for from NCIS”
“ Here darling. Coordinated with the marines, navy  and NCIS agents  deployed on ground , to do the threat assessment.  It’s a go ahead from NCIS , the Director signed on it “ I said.
“ Y/N up for the writer’s  convention this week. “ McGee asked.
“ Yepp , very excited.  Specially the 1920s Gatsby theme. Gonna love that. Already  got a flapper costume. “ she said excitedly.
“ Ouch” , McGee a said as I  gave him a head slap.
“ Work McGee”.
“ Boss  I am trying , but the codes are too tough” McGee said.
“ Hey McGee I am hearing Next Year’s  theme would be Regency England, gonna love that too” Y/N continued
“ They have the best themes” McGee continued.
“ Ouch not fair Gibbs” Y/N protested as I gave her a heads lap.
“ Well you will get another one if you distract my team wifey” I said with humour
“ Ahh tempted” she rolled her eyes.” Well gotta go then. Too bad I can solve the codes on McGee’s big screen, but gotta let him work” she said with a poker face trying  to walk away.
“ Y/N, the code”
“ Sorry love, don’t want to distract your team or you” she said with a straight face. “ Bye”.
Reader’s  POV:
“ No sweetie, you aren’t  going anywhere before cracking that” he said holding me by my waist.
I looked him with a bratty look. He stared at me with a smirk and nodded , baiting me to bring forward my bratty side.
“ Not my Job Jethro. Besides what would the state department think knowing that your agent here is trying to hack the network of a foreign embassy.”
“ So the state department  never hacked anything? Wonder how you recognise the code then my love. I mean I don’t know much about codes and algorithms but even someone like you couldn’t recognise it with a glance, especially when McGee is sweating his ass of on it from the morning. So Y/N ,did you ever Crack this before? “ he smirked.
“ Fine Gibbs. I will Crack it. But I won’t do it pro Bono. I would want something in return.”
“ So what it’s gonna cost me ?” He said clearly loving our game.
“ I don’t know Gibbs , think of something”.
“ What if I ask you nicely ? Please? “ he said with puppy dog eyes and a boyish grin.
“ hhmmm better ,but not enough” I chuckled.
He made his way towards the corner, away from his team’s earshot , calling me with a come hither motion.
“ The rest of you atleast pretend to work?” he said nodding his head.
“ So what secret  deal are you offering me Special Agent Gibbs” I said rolling my eyes.
He held my chin , making me look at him.
“Why why aren’t you a brat. You need discipline. So here’s  my offer darling.  You will Crack the code in return of the discipline  you need. Then I can make sure , you get the punishment you deserve tonight in bed.”he said with lust.
“ And If  I don’t agree love?”
“ You will, cause that’s what you want right.” He smirked trailing his thumb across my bottom lip. “ That and if you don’t, I will not let you cum tonight “
“ Ahh you wont”
“ But I would. You see darling , I love to get you all worked up, hearing your pretty little voice , as you beg me to let you cum.” He laughed.
….
“ All done McGee. You got your data. You knew who your petty officer aka double agent’s  foreign  handler. “ Thanks Y/N.
“ So Y/N what’s your secret.?” Tony asked.
“ What secret?” I asked.
“ You bring another side of Gibbs” ,McGee said.” He is great to work with. But I never realised he can be so fun.”
“ Well ever since you met him , he is so not grumpy. You light up his world you know.”

“ and he rocks mine”  I winked making them laugh.
“ Ahh Y/N you don’t want to mess with Boss ‘s coffee.” Tony said as I picked up Gibbs’s  mug from his desk as McGee nodded agreeing with Tony.
I saw Gibbs walking down the squadroom. “ Babe , can you bring me fave chocolate doughnut today” I pouted.
“ Ahh let me think about it” he chuckled.
“ Ahh come on Jethro , I did solve your case” I said with my puppy dog eyes.
“ I will love” he laughed.
“ What’s this?” he said picking up the froth and whipped cream from my hot chocolate cup.
“ It’s  milk foam dear” I said Licking his fingers. “ Ohh this is just a preview of what’s gonna happen tonight.” I whispered  out of everyone’s earshot.
“ Don’t waste it, and that’s mine hot chocolate not yours.” I continued loudly.

“ Where is my coffee?” Jethro asked.
“ Here I said” inhaling it.
“ Baby you are not supposed to have coffee remember, and sit down babe. Don’t tire yourself out. Don’t forget to jeep yourself hydeated” He reminded.
“ Oh come on Jethro, I can’t wear my favourite stilettos anymore. Can’t even have my cappuccino.  Smelling the caffeine  is the only thing that helps with the nausea. I am not having it, just smelling it. Better watch out , I will be a bitch with  terrible mood swings if you don’t allow to inhale the caffeine scent.
“ I like it when you are my bitch” he whispered smirking, making me blush.
“ Well gotta go love” I said.
“ Come let me walk you to the car.”
20 bucks that things are gonna get heated up in the elevator “ Tony said which made him get a headslap from Gibbs.

We walked into the elevator. As the door closed , he switched on the emergency stop sign and kissed me with passion. I returned it with the same intensity, both fighting for control and domination. He pushed me against the wall shoving his hand below my skirt. He pushed two fingers inside my panties, feeling the moisture there. “ Good Girl, already wet for me” he smirked. He quickly undid his pants as his hard cock sprang out from his boxers. He lined it with my entrance , running it up and down my slit for a few times teasing me before plunging into me. He pulled me closer thrusting deep while I arched my hips towards him.
“ Jethro…. Oh ohh I whispered. I am close . Can I?”
“ Yes baby. Cum for me darling , cum on my cock.” He said.
As I reached my peak , I felt weak at the knees ,as waves and waves of pleasure hit me. “
Gibbs held me tight against him , still thrusting as he hit my g spot, kissing me and claiming my moans. He picked me up while I wrapped my legs around him , helping me recover from the pleasure. Slowly he build his pace again. “ I am close” he said. “Together “ he said as I clenched his cock knowing I am right at the edge . With one final thrust ,  I reached my climax, finding my release.   Milking his cock ,  I heard him calling out my name as he shot his load deep into me.
Gently kissing my lips he put me down, but still holding me steady  He put his forehead  against mine as we both panted.
He put his fingers inside my pussy scooping  some of cum and Licking his fingers clean.
“ A little preview  for tonight” he smirked, gently petting my ass.
He zipped up his pants and smoothed out my skirt. Then he rubbed my still flat belly whispering “ love you and your mummy”. Then he kissed me on the forehead, before helping me with my shoes.
Jethro’s  POV:
As I made my way to the bullpen after seeing Y/N off and making sure her seatbelt is properly fastened, I made my way to the bullpen.
“ What took you so long boss? McGee asked. “ The elevator is giving trouble for a few days.” You didn’t get stuck did you Boss” Tony asked doubtfully.
“ I think you stopped for another cup of  coffee maybe “ he continued.
“ Do you see a cup of coffee in my hand Dinozzo? Infact did you hear the elevator  bell go off?” I asked, while taking out a 20 dollar bill and handing it to Tony.
“ Ohh thanks boss but why?” Ohh Ewww” Tony said amused as realisation dawned on him.
“ Boss” Mcgee said “ Why is Y/N not allowed to have coffee any more?”
“ You know for two seasoned investigators you too are pretty slow” I chuckled as new realisation dawned on them.
“ Boss”
“ Yep we are pregnant “ I grinned proudly making them jump up with joy and excitement  as they embraced me in a group hug.

More Gatsby Reincarnation AU bullshit while I work on a piece for the show I’m in rn:
It’s a long ahh list so here’s a cut to save ur dash :)
Gatsby and Daisy absolutely love Grease. Yes the movie. Yes they force everyone to watch it at least once every four-or-so months during group movie night, yes they sing the whole thing
Everyone begrudgingly has their song in Grease. Jordan’s is Danny’s part in summer nights (with Gatsby as Sandy funny enough), Tom’s is Greased Lightning, Jay’s is Raining on Prom Night (although Daisy joins him 90% of the time), Daisy’s is There Are Worse Things I Could Do, and Nick’s is Beauty School Dropout!
Nick has the voice of an angel. Literally. First time he really sang Beauty School Dropout left everyone floored
For my fellow Natsby Shippers: Already was Jay entranced by Nick’s voice, but things got worse when Nick turned his performance of said song above on him during their obligatory watch. Dude bluescreened hard and it took a minute before they could continue the movie
Speaking of movie nights, the gang does movie nights! With how available it is nowadays why not? Sometimes it’s twice a month, sometimes it’s once, sometimes it’s every other month. Really just depends on how often they can
Meyer is here too everyone! He’s a teacher at a nearby high school (although you’re a fool to think that’s his only job). While he originally taught economics, he got roped into using his double major to teach English. Specifically Junior Year. The Great Gatsby unit is always awkward
Nick has a Tumblr! He’s flat out said multiple times on said blog that he is Nick Carraway reincarnate. Through some simple proofs his followers have accepted that yup, that’s Nick Carraway back from the grave. It’s like how we have Neil Gaiman here, but with Nick.
Jordan has a blog too, but only to fuck with Nick. That’s it, that’s the only reason. Their followers love watching them fight online lmao
Nick uses his blog to update everyone on the gang and answer questions. Yes, TGG was gay. So is he. He’s answered this a million times can we get a new question please??
One of Meyer’s students showed him said blog, at which point his student teacher George Willows (Wilson) pointed out that he knew Nick back in high school and offers to set up a meeting
That meeting was awkward as fuck. Nick and George just stared at each other, both knowing, until George ran out of the room, at which point Meyer took to testing Nick. The two shot references back and forth until Nick cracked
Nick has a therapist. He was pushed to get one after a rather bad crack in his own mind after Jay remembered (I’ll explain in a minute). He tiptoed around his real problem for ages, not wanting to be seen as insane (again), until his therapist asked him one day about a book. See its uncut pages? Do you know what that means, Nick?
Boy was it a relief to be able to actually talk about his struggles with reincarnation after that
(TW: Derealization, just in case) Nick’s Mental Crack, as mentioned above, happened on his first birthday after Jay remembered everything. He vanished for a few days, only to be found unresponsive by his friends. When he finally did respond, it was only to repeat that they (the gang) weren’t real, something drilled into him from his time at the sanatorium and his last 60-ish years of isolation in his first life. For a few more days he did little more than stare into the bathroom mirror, repeat that phrase, or gently touch at his eyes. When he finally did come to, the first thing he did was turn to Jay and ask “Is this real?” There was. A lot of crying from all parties following. And therapy.
Listen, dealing with grief in the 20s already sucked. He got sent to a sanatorium for Christ’s sake! That, paired with what I imagine to have been spending the last 60+ years of his life in self isolation AND being the first to remember their past lives? That ain’t easy man. He could use a little help
He does get better tho. Things get easier. Maybe a little too easy because one day, when a mutual friend(s) of all of theirs outright stops them and asks if they’re the reincarnated cast of Gatsby, he just says yes. Straight up. “Yup. Took you that long?”
Meanwhile everyone else (except for Jordan honestly) is trying to deny it and failing miserably
Back to movies and film! Nick likes Sci-fi things alongside historical stuff that he can laugh at being wrong, Jay enjoys romance (specifically shit like the Bachelor tell me I’m wrong-), Jordan is a fan of of mysteries, Daisy enjoys horror films purely because of the kickass final girl most of them have alongside a fair share of musicals, and Tom likes Sports films like Happy Gilmore and Benchwarmers
To my fellow Natsby ppl again: Gatsby is shorter than Nick. Was back in the 20s and is now! When hugging or cuddling, Nick could absolutely smother Jay. He is a small fella, very holdable
Every time they rewatch the 2013 Gatsby, Jordan has a tendency to say either “that’s gay” or “that’s homophobic” at respective times. Nick keeps a tally on how many times she says each every watch
And that’s all I think I have again for now. Thanks again for @writerinconstantcrisis for helping with most of these and this AU as a whole really. Until next time nerds!

Hi Vox, what books do you like to read? Genres etc, physical or e-books? Also do you have any recommendations on books to read? I'm dying to get into new books but I have no idea where to start looking.
(by books I meant outside of fanfic.)
PS, will you ever continue your doubledong dickfest (the train age swap one) fic again? I'm so down bad for teenage Satoru getting dicked down haha.
Recently, I've mostly been reading online even when I'm not reading fanfic—stuff like the SCP stories, r/nosleep authors and series, and original fiction on Ao3 and Fictionpress. Been hearing good things about Royal Road too, though the popular genres there may not be to my taste.
Anyway, when it comes to published books, I prefer fantasy or SF. Or both! And I'd rather have physical books than digital ones.
As for recs, the ones from my recent reads are—
The Locked Tomb series by Tamsyn Muir. It's a blend of SF and fantasy. It has four parts, and three are currently out. We're waiting with bated breath for the final one.
How to Survive Camping series by Bonnie Quinn. It's a complete four-part series of supernatural mystery and horror that started out on r/nosleep but has been published as books.
My last proper reading spree was over five years back, so I have no idea how I'll feel about these books if I were to read them now:
Whyborne & Griffin series by Jordan L. Hawk
Cut & Run series by Urban and Roux
Literally everything by Megan Derr. Her collection was impressive even circa 2016, and I'm sure it's grown now.
A few classics™, if you swing that way:
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
Candide by Voltaire
Catch-22 by Joseph Heller
I have an extensive to-read list too, and I can't exactly recommend anything from that, but here are the ones I'm looking forward to the most:
The Murderbot Diaries series by Martha Wells
Into the Drowning Deep by Mira Grant
A Memory Called Empire by Arkady Martine
Ancillary Justice by Ann Leckie
Ahh, double-dong dickfest, my beloved! That one suffered from having my attention diverted at just the wrong moment (thank you, chapter 236). Other, shinier ideas keep pulling me to them. Plus, what I currently have is some 14k that could easily stand as its own fic; the remaining outline is an escalating pornfest, and it's got a lot of fun bits I'd like to tackle, but if I don't start, what I've written would make a coherent oneshot.
I can promise a lot of teenage Satoru getting dicked down though. That, I keep going back to faithfully 😂
Thanks for asking this! It was fun to answer.

Good morning my shooting star! I just got up and saw your message, so here I am <3
No worries about falling asleep, my love. Yesterday sounds like it was a fun day, but I can see how it tired you out! I hope you had fun at your best friend's house. Being with your darling must have been so nice, too!
My day was alright yesterday! We actually had some earthquakes here, which was really irregular, but interesting. I volunteered at my mother's school and the kids loved me as usual, so that was quite nice! As for today, I'm going to see the Great Gatsby with my brother! I'm very excited, we have row 2 seats..! >_< I have such a cute outfit planned too, so I'm overjoyed to be going!
How has your morning been, dear? Have any plans today?
An earthquake? Are you alright?
Ahh have fun seeing the Great Gatsby!! Tell me all about it when you see it.. and I’m sure any outfit is cute on you!
My morning has been good, pretty chilled out. I don’t really have any plans just studying. I’m going out with my darling tomorrow so for today I’ll just rest.

Good morning
I wrote down every word I didn't know in the great Gatsby and it's definition. For what reason? I haven't a clue
Now I'm back on my Disney Crossy road bs
PASSED A SPANISH TEST THOUGH
She asked me one word. But still
I have pe tomorrow and we are combatting the anxiety by keeping busy. Going to watch good omens and try and get some of my art homework done now (they say, like they don't have to shower as well)
Anyway, question time
Do you approve of writing in/highlighting/annotating books?
Have a flawless day
EV
hello :)
it’s for sillies. I got to keep my phone last night so we’re both winning
AHH MUY BUENO
What was the word?
you’re a busy bee. I’m sitting on the couch watching the Simpsons
It’s a tricky question. I think it looks cool but I don’t have the patience or confidence in my ability to trust that I won’t fuck up my book. the only book I’ve done it in was a poem book that I think wanted me to write in it
go to sleep

Hi! It's totally fine and I'm sorry my reply is kinda late as well. Omg ..i actually always reply or send asks on my phone so this is pretty funny to me. The concert was great. There were some things I was surprised by since I kinda went in mostly blind and I didn't really know the order of the songs they sang except for the first and last songs. They did a lot of mashups and one where the drummer Josh sang while Tyler sang a completely different song. It was very beautiful because of what the songs mean. My other favorite was Next Semester, a song that means so much to me and emotional for Tyler and also everyone in the crowd and the environment when it slowed down. My upbeat energy favorite songs were Jumpsuit and Navigating. I was surprised by how close they were to me at that moment in the back of pit cuz I had never been that close before! It was just really great and apparently they will have a new song for a soundtrack coming out!
Ahh I wanna hear all about your trip! Which show was the best? Your favorite? Which show surprised you the most? You can also just do a ranking of each show and in order and explain why. I am also curious about the rain from the Notebook and if there was any differences seeing it again compared to the first time. How was seeing Aaron and him singing Roxanne? I also wanna know about JoJo's performance in general too. I wanna know more about the plots of Stereophonic and Oh Mary, and the environment, costume and staging of CATS! Also what other fun things did you do? I honestly don't mind sweet things too much so I would probably like it or anything from there if I ever went but that's weird if they don't sell it everyday lol. I just watched one of my favorite movie musicals Across the Universe yesterday and had a lot of fun imagining what a stage version would be like so I highly recommend it! Also did you hear that there is going to be a movie that's a teen version reimagining of Phantom and Kenny Ortega from the HSM movies is involved. Idk what to think of that but it could be good. I also watched She's the Man yesterday..one of my other favorites and that is a teen reimagining of Twelfth Night done pretty well so who knows lol. I've also been listening to songs from Passion and Company.
Omg it's been a while but I forgot to tell you that I watched a bootleg of the Great Gatsby a week or two ago! Unfortunately I think you're right..it's just okay. The weird thing was that it kept going from song to song without much plot development or dialogue in between. It was like you were just supposed to accept stuff like how in love Gatsby was with Daisy. Idk if this is the musicals book issue or that's just how it is in the book cuz you're not seeing Gatsby's perspective as much since Nick is the narrator. I felt like that almost could have been used more but then it would remind me of the Outsiders and people say or think it was used too much there lol. For context, Ponyboy is on stage the whole time except for one song. I was also drinking though but it wasn't hard to follow. Unfortunately I could not watch the last 30ish minutes cuz I stupidly fell asleep and the video got deleted. So idk...I definitely think the last bit could have been more interesting and I wanted to see how they did those parts..oh well. I also watched Lempicka and Gutenberg with Josh Gad and Andrew Rannells and enjoyed those.
I have not been watching shows or anything and did not have a chance to watch Elsie Fest performances yet but I did see the performances from the VMAS. I loved Sabrina's and Chappells performances and wins along with Taylor and her outfit. I also liked Halsey, Megan and Katys performances..I've always liked Katy and am looking forward to her album. Short and sweet has grown on me but at the same time I don't really feel like it needs a lot of listens either. My absolute favorite from the first listen was Juno and that hasn't changed. I love it cuz it's also one of my favorite movies of all time, though I found the concept a little weird at first. My sister actually didn't even get it until I told her. I also like Taste, Sharpest Tool, Lie To Girls and Don't Smile. Bed Chem is fun to dance to. I am very excited for Halsey's album too which releases the same day as Soccer Mommy so idk which I will listen to first now lol. I also got tickets to Soccer Mommys tour yesterday so now I know what my next concert will be. I hope you are doing good adjusting after your trip and had a good week and have an amazing weekend!
hellooo friend!! tumblr has been very glitchy on my phone lately :( but also i am a much faster typer on my computer than i am on my phone, so i do like answering longer asks when i'm on my computer (and then i can also refer back to old asks of ours!) hope you've been well!! 🤍 sorry this is late! i yap a lot about my trip and theatre in this ask hehe !
i'm so glad you had fun! i've been seeing a few things about 21p on instagram and tiktok lately (not much, but i do think of you every time i see them). do you prefer being in the back of the pit? i've been in the pit a few times and in varying spots, but i think it's more about who i'm with vs. where i'm in the pit if that makes sense. but i also do think i've had the most fun at concerts when i was closer to the front, so there's that!
okay okay so with my trip!! i think i would rank it as follows:
cats: the jellicle ball: cats: the jellicle ball, was the show i had most anticipated — which is weird to say, given that i have spent years of my life hating cats. (i did put my beef aside with cats briefly for the 2016 revival, as someone who likes tyler hanes, eloise kropp, georgina pazcoguin, and ricky ubeda). a reimagined immersive production of cats set in the world of ballroom, with new arrangements and some new choreography — this production of cats was everything, and i really hope it has another life elsewhere. i’m not sure what that would look like (a circle in the square transfer, perhaps? a filmed version?), but all i know is that cats: the jellicle ball is in my top ten theatrical experiences for sure, and i’m so grateful i got to see it. i can’t remember the last time i had so much fun at a show. i never would’ve imagined that any production of cats would make me cry. it was just absolutely magical.
the notebook:  the day before i saw the notebook, the closing announcement came out — and as someone who has been following along the publicized broadway grosses every week for over ten years now, i wasn’t surprised but it still stung. i really wish this show found its audience on broadway. i wish they’d had a better marketing team and the ability to stand as a show in an industry that increasingly values commercialization over good art. there wasn’t a dry eye in the schoenfeld by the time it was done, and i’m just so glad i got to see it on broadway before it closed — i’m hoping i’ll get to see it on tour again someday. ( we will get back to the notebook later 🤍 )
oh mary: i went into oh, mary! as blind as i could — really just knowing vaguely what it was about — and spent so much of it just doubled over laughing. i think here is where i give the oh, mary! social media team their flowers, because they’ve done such a good job in connecting popular culture and current events back to the show in a way that no other show has managed to do so. oh, mary! isn’t exactly my type of show, and while i was thoroughly entertained (obviously, cole escola was a standout, but beloved conrad ricamora also shines as lincoln — his “no. more. gay.” scene lives in my brain rent free) i don’t know if i’d go see it again, but i did have an absolute blast while i was there.
once upon a mattress:  i went into this one pretty blind, only knowing it was loosely princess and the pea inspired, and that everyone and their mother was in some production in middle school or high school. and in all honesty, i did spend the first fifteen minutes of mattress wishing i was at cats: the jellicle ball with my friends who were seeing cats at the same time. still, sutton foster and michael urie managed to charm me immensely, and i did find myself having a good time. and nikki renee daniels.... i would like to marry her.
stereophonic: my moulin rouge-induced migraine from hell did not do this show any favors, and i was a little bit miserable the entire time i was there. and i felt the sound mixing was terrible (dialogue on stage was too quiet, music was far too loud), but stereophonic is one of the two cast recordings i’ve had on repeat since i’ve come back to seattle, so do with that what you will. sarah pidgeon was a star, and i really hope this will tour! i'd love to see it again and i think if my head wasn't just pounding i would've probably ranked it a lot higher (above mattress, maybe above oh mary but not sure)
moulin rouge: oh… the big disappointment of the trip. this was my third time seeing moulin rouge and well. jojo was very fun to watch, and aaron, well. we will not be commenting on that.
i didn't end up seeing hadestown due to the migraine from hell which i'm still really bummed about :(
to answer your questions in a little more detail !!
the notebook — i just. i loved it so much. i really hope you get to see it if it tours. i sat in side orch this time, and it was much colder than i expected so i did end up getting the if this is love crewneck 😭 but it's cute and very very cozy so i don't mind too much. i think that the cast is definitely the strongest bit of the show (specifically: joy woods, maryann plunkett, dorian harewood, john cardoza) and i will be curious to see who they'll cast in future iterations of this show. the music, albeit simplistic, works really well within the context of the show, and i would say the same thing about the set. i will always take a more simple set over a show that just uses projections and projections and projections. i don't know how much you know about the notebook or the staging, but where the pit/orchestra usually is is where they have a little "river" (which was the same thing in chicago) and so you can see the actors actually play with water and flick each other with water, dip their toes wet, etc. and then the rain scene happens in act two and only happens during the song "forever"! so on the cast recording after young noah is like "don't ever leave again" and young allie is singing "why didn't you write me" + when middle noah is like "here take this" he's putting his jacket on middle allie it's gently raining on stage left close to the river (its just a very specific part of the set that gets wet and falls directly back into the "river" section). and then after the last "don't ever leave me again" it starts really coming down and raining in more than just that one area (but still not the entire stage obviously). and then you have middle allie being like "i used to love to play in the rain" and so she's spinning in the rain and middle noah joins her and then he carries her and they kiss and then she confronts him on not writing her and at that point both actors are like fully drenched and that's the end of the number! and then middle allie and middle noah go back to the house and they're both getting out of their wet clothes and he's like "i'll go grab you a shirt"! let me know if i didn't explain it well or if you have more questions about the rain! but yeah because it's during act two like smack in the middle of act two they can't really do a lot of clean up but it doesn't look like a safety hazard or anything ( @ west side story 2020 revival )!
i ... was really disappointed in seeing aaron in rouge :( you could just tell he kind of didn't care or didn't want to be there/was checked out but he sounded great as always. i loveeeeed jojo's take on satine though! she was very fun! very cute! and she's so pretty! she's a lot better than i imagined she'd be and you could tell she was having a blast in the role!
stereophonic is really interesting! it's very daisy jones-y in which it's really about a band struggling to record their second album while their first album is rising on the charts. and it's a band of five and then two studio engineers, and so you get to see how their dynamics change over the course of the show. the music is so good, have you gotten a chance to listen? i really think they'll be in my top 100 by the end of the year!
oh mary is just absolutely wild! it is very historically incorrect, and is a very different kind of humor than what i'm used to but i did really enjoy it!
in addition to seeing my shows, i also went to the museum of broadway with my friend bailey, did a food crawl with my friend, went to the met (my beloved!!!!!!), and had tea! and then just tried to meet up with as many friends as possible in between everything!
i have actually not watched across the universe, but a close friend of mine loves that movie! i really should watch it someday. and i did hear about the teen phantom — intrigued, but also cautious/anxious about what it could be like! i've been mostly listening to the notebook and stereophonic, but i'm in a bit of an anastasia mood right now so i might listen to it tomorrow.
i really liked the VMAs performances, and am very very excited for halsey's new album! i love what i've heard, and the direction it's going in. i hope you have the most fun at soccer mommy! my next concert is sabrina and then eras and then i've got nothing else planned after that!!!
how have you been? are you looking forward to anything? catch me up! what have you been reading and watching and listening? 🤍

the gatsby musical directed by rachel chavkin* is like. really very good and i think actually improves on the text it's based on in a way that's very cool like . ahh idk i never really cared about the great gatsby the book all that much but now im like it's about decay it's about overconsumption its about illusion it's about how the performance of wealth needs a spectator. And the whole set is like. the rubble of a car crash which is crazyyy it's like oh you wanted a glittery 20s musical? too bad because this is a story that centers on an act of violent apathy and about what bodies are considered disposable and erasable to the upper classes and we are not going to let you forget it . aghhhh
*i am not talking about the one with jeremy jordan and whoever that one is different and i haven't seen it and i don't care about it and please don't ask me about it

one: u are not annoying even ur rambles, i appreciate seeing u on my dash <33
two: since u wanted to,,,talk about poe,,,may i present a poe headcanon for fuckedup!ranpoe body horror summer hikaru died au etc etc hshsh
so ranpo still maintains his consciousness and is co-existing with the creature in his body, only developing a certain hunger for blood and fear. and poe, wealthy as he is, probably organizes or offers to host parties great gatsby style at his mansion despite his distaste in gatherings as a sort of selection for ranpo’s meals <333 and has profiled most of the attendees already beforehand, he’d probably make them ‘audition’ with ranpo by his side, letting ranpo impress them and observing if the person is worthy to be fed to his darli- i mean rival ofc.
he’d let them try on collections of vintage apparel, which are all, strangely, almost pure white. because ranpo likes seeing how blood behaves as he disembowels them, sometimes he likes them paralyzed and sometimes he likes them only a bit physically disoriented so poe has a few chemicals and herbs to achieve either.
the evidence? no worries, he lets ranpo eat inside one of his novels, for the most part, unless the creature begs ranpo to feel wet soil again, so they go on a cute little trip to the forest so that ranpo can bury the corpse with his own hands??? ig they're technically hands still lmao.
poe has probably hired a painter to paint ranpo in real time digging in on a person before.
hehe that's all for now i’m v grateful that ur not freaked out ily, be kind to yourself, if only i could claw machine ur brain and threaten it into not being mean to u >:(((
Thank you so much tobi AHH😭💜
I absolutely want to eat this idea. I'm feasting on it even. Omg this has soooooooo freaking much potential, thank you for infesting my brain with that bc holy shit is so cool. They're both master detectives they'd sure know how to first of all initiate and second of all cover up a crime. AND THE PAINTER OMG
Ofc I'm always very happy to hear your thoughts, I'm literally so invested in this au now😌🙏
If only😔🙏 but thank you and ily too, you're too kind😭
