The inside of my cheeks hurt due to how much I had been biting them during my flight and now that my taxi was closing in on my destination, they were beginning to bleed. I haven’t seen Grayson in months, which was my fault since I blew my travel money sometime during my first semester at college. He’d offered more times than I could count to fly me out, but every time I denied.
In the two years we had been together, he has probably spent thousands of dollars on presents and trips. It was time for me to grow up and take care of myself rather than relying on others when I need something. Yes, it was hard not seeing the floppy haired boy but I needed to do this for myself.
“Here we are.” The taxi driver parked parallel to an unfamiliar house causing my stomach to flip. What was I supposed to say to him when he answers the door? My visit was a surprise and for all I knew he could have guests over, or he and Grayson weren’t even here. “Do you need any help with your bag?”
I shake my head and pull out the money I owed the driver, “Thank you.” Without another word I slide my arms through the straps of my backpack before jumping out of the stuffy yellow car to grab my black suitcase from the trunk. My hand taps the roof twice once I have all of my belongings and the man speeds away, leaving me to face my fears.
“Fuck it’s just Grayson,” I sigh trying to force myself onward, “He’s the same goofy guy. A few months of not seeing one another can’t change a person that much…” I didn’t know if I believed my own words, but they were enough to force my stiff legs to move forward.
Ethan’s black BMW was parked in the driveway causing my stomach to drop. Last time I checked in, the bronco was once again out of commission meaning that the boys only had one vehicle. This also meant that both should be inside as long as one of their friends didn’t pick them up for the day.
Swallowing my pride, I grab the handle of my bag and force myself to walk towards the closed door. The faster I got through the awkward stage, the more time I could happily enjoy with Gray. My hand was shaky as I lightly pressed the doorbell, anxiety coursing through my body as I waited for someone to answer.
I ran out of mental preparation time as the door swung open to reveal a shirtless, tired Ethan staring down at me. “What the hell? When did you get here? Does Grayson know?” His words came at a mile a minute and I could barely keep track of what he was saying, “Come here”
“Still way too energetic for your own good I see,” I chuckle and wrap my arms around the older twin. Ethan and I were close, but we’ve drifted apart recently. “Where’s your other half?”
He smirked down at me, “What? I’m not good enough for you?” Sometimes I wondered if Ethan had actually liked me back when I first met the two, “He’s in his room playing the keyboard. If you want you can help me finish dinner?”
“In your dreams E,” I scoff, “Better luck next time my friend.” Ethan only asked because he was hoping to get out of cooking tonight. He did it every time I visited the apartment in the past and my dumbass always fell for it.
An alarm started ringing in the house causing Ethan’s face to grow pale, “Fuck.”
“God damn it Ethan did you seriously forget to turn the alarm off again?” A door slammed from somewhere inside and Grayson’s voice rang through the house making a shudder run down my spine. The alarm was turned off and I could hear footsteps coming closer to where Ethan and I were standing, “Who’s at the-”
My heart stopped at the sight of Grayson’s wide hazel eyes staring down at me in wonder. “Grayson I’d like you to meet Y/n’s long lost twin Jessica,” Ethan joked earning a smack on the back of the head from his brother. “Ow dude I was just kidding.”
“Hey Gray,” My voice made me sound smaller than I am and my eyes darted to the doormat under my feet, “Surprise?” His arms wrapped around my shoulders, and it was his way of telling me he missed me without words. My hangs were clinging onto the back of his white t-shirt as he kissed the top of my head multiple times.
When we pulled away, I noticed that Ethan was no longer at our side meaning he had probably gone back to the kitchen to work on dinner. “Let’s get inside before the alarm goes off again.” He stepped aside so I could enter, sliding my bag out of my hand. “Make yourself at home. I’ll go put your bag in my room.”
---
Surprisingly, our dinner was actually edible and the boys did anything they could to make me feel at home. The new place was going to take some getting used to, but I knew I’d get used to it after a while. It may not have been there apartment, but the larger building still had that same comfortable feeling.
I tied my hair up in a towel and jump when I hear someone whistle from the doorway, “You don’t know how much I missed seeing you in my clothes.”
“God damn you scared me,” I placed my hand over my heart and stare back at Grayson through the bathroom mirror. A smirk formed on the boy’s face as he crossed the room to stand behind me. His large hands gripped my hips and I bit my bottom lip at the feeling of his strong body pressed against mine, “What are you up to Dolan?”
He pulled the already stretched shirt collar to the side in order to press light kisses from my shoulder up to my neck. “I’m not up to anything,” He breathed into my ear before lightly biting it. It wasn’t like I didn’t expect Grayson to be horny, but I couldn’t help but laugh at how quickly he caved. “What?”
“You are like a horny child trying to seduce his first girlfriend right now Grayson,” I chuckle and shift around in his grip so our chests were pressed together, “I haven’t even been here five hours and you’re already trying to get my clothes off.”
“Technically they aren’t your clothes,” He winked and continued to play with the hem of my shorts, “Babe.” There was a kind of whine in his voice and his dark eyes were eagerly staring into mine. “Please?”
“Can’t we just spend some time together?” My chin rested on his firm chest as I stared up at him, “I’m super tired from my flight.” He reluctantly accepted and led the way back to his bedroom across the hall. A smile formed on my face as I grabbed a picture of us from his nightstand, “Can you believe it’s almost been three years since we met?”
Grays strong arms wrapped around my torso and I could sense the smile on his lips, “I thought I was going to end up killing you when we got stuck in that elevator together. When I first met you in the lobby I thought you were going to be some annoying little shit.”
“Hey!” I frown and he just chuckles, “I wasn’t that bad. A little shit, yes, but not that bad.”
He pulled away, flopping down on the large bed next to us. “So how did the first year go? Both of us got so busy that I hardly talked to you this last semester.”
“It could’ve been worse,” I sigh and fall down onto the bed next to him, “I knew you and E weren’t doing so well and it fucked me up a bit since I didn’t have the money to visit. You needed me and I couldn’t be here for you, which made me grow up a tad I guess.”
Grayson brushed a strand of hair out of my face, “I wanted to fly you out.” A frown was present as he cupped my cheek, “You have no idea how close I came to booking a ticket to see you.”
“Yeah,” I sigh and peck his lips lightly, “I love you for that Gray but I’m glad you didn’t. Since I felt like garbage it made me understand how important emergency money was for a long distance relationship. I spent every dollar I had on things that didn’t matter and had nothing when it came to the thing that did matter.”
He leaned in once again and this time I gave into the temptation. My fingers went straight to the boy’s floppy hair, tugging lightly as he rolled over to lay on top of my smaller body. He sat up quickly in order to take his shirt off, throwing it messily across the room. “God I missed you.”
I kissed him back feverishly, smiling as his hand trailed up my arm to intertwine our fingers together.
