(Tfw you're the most reliable person in the roster and you're only like 12)
Httyd 2 is where the Hooligans start to think Elder may be too carefree and naive to be chief, Snotlout is too gradious to do the job right, and find that they truly appreciate the wise, diplomatic nature of Younger. Maybe we should make the little guy chief instead 💁
Bonus:

#1 most irresponsible older brother 😂
(Speech bubble text beneath readmore:)
Hiccup the Younger: If I had a gold piece for every time Gobber told me to usurp my brother for the throne of Berk I'd have three gold pieces and at this point I'm starting to think he's being serious
Little Fishlegs: Well, why not? It's a very honorable position– and you'd be great at it!
Younger: Sure, but that's Hiccup's job. It's not like I WANT it. Besides, Snotlout's the runner-up heir, not me, so I'd have to challenge him, too. I'm in Last Place, Fishlegs. Maybe it's better that way.
Little Fish: You sell yourself too short. Most of the tribe would be happy to see you on the throne instead of Snotlout. Heck, they're prefer you to Mr. Elder! All the adults say Mr. Elder is too immature. Gobber even says they're going to approach Stoick personally about lifting your rank.
Younger: Very funny.
(Silence)
Younger: WAIT— ARE YOU SERIOUS?!
...
Astrid: Shirking your heirly duties, as usual.
Astrid: You know, maybe Gobber's right, and Minicup should usurp you and take over the tribe.
Astrid: NO— YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO AGREE!!!

drives me fucking insane how interns at work will take my male colleagues more seriously and respect them for their professionalism but then turn around and ask me why i "always look mad" and "never smile" and am "too serious" like you're not even trying to be clever about your misogyny!! these are literally example sexist microaggressions that we went over in DEI training!!!

@honorhearted {x}
Alina blamed herself more than she blamed Benjamin. She blamed W.ashington more than she blamed him too. A man she’d thought to be great and trustworthy had gotten her uncle, her father figure, brutally murdered.
She’d been returning from an assignment given to her by her kin when it’d happened, when he’d been taken from her, so she’d returned to find his body cold, solid, and shrouded to prepare for the journey home. In the mere hours since then, she’d felt like she was only half present, with one foot out of reality and in some distant place where things weren’t this way – where S.ackett wasn’t dead.
When she mustered the courage to return to his cart, the scene of the crime, and saw Benjamin standing there, she hadn’t meant to speak her thoughts aloud, and yet they came tumbling from her mouth with the force of rapids tumbling over the falls. No, she didn't blame him as much as W.ashington, nor as much as herself, but she was still angry.
Turning to face her, Benjamin looked as though she’d shot him without hesitation, staggering backward until he found the support of a chair to anchor him.
"I could have told you that."
Tumblr media
“Don’t be such a damned martyr,” she seethed, her fists balled so tightly that her knuckles were bone white, “You weren’t the one who got his throat slit for this Cause.”
Tears glistened in his eyes. He was clearly just as distraught as she was, and yet she couldn’t bring herself to comfort him. She didn’t dare. It was too close – too intimate.
Her mistake had been pursuing him in any capacity, even if it’d been purely for seizing a modicum of happiness, but Benjamin had come to mean more than a fleeting moment. He’d become a treasured friend, and this tragedy had forced Alina to admit that to herself. She couldn’t lose anyone else. She couldn’t. She had to push him away if she was going to protect herself – if she was going to survive this.
"I've written home to his wife. Arrangements have been made to...t-to..."
“You what?”
Scoffing, she crossed the threshold of the tent and closed the gap between them, eyes aflame with fury, “I should have been the one to tell my Aunt Mary of his passing. That wasn’t your right.”
His gaze fell. Was he ashamed to face her? To look her in the eye?
"If you wish to grieve in private, then I'll go."
Shaking her head in disbelief, Alina did her best not to allow the tears to well up in her eyes as she stared with a burning rage, and through grit teeth, she demanded, “Why did this happen? Why didn’t you just follow your gut instead of heeding the G.eneral when you knew he was wrong?”
Infuriated, she reached out and grabbed his jaw, forcing him to gaze back up at her as she failed to keep the tears from falling. Her voice trembled as she sneered.
"Look at me, you bastard!"

Clinicians may see tens of thousands of patients during their career, but there will be one or two cases strange enough that they call the health department for assistance. This is especially important in developing or low- to middle-income countries where there's not necessarily great diagnostic support, and autopsies are rare. You really are depending completely on clinical acumen, and intuition, to discover the anomalies. Once there's a big outbreak everybody realizes it, but the initial ones – you need to find them and put prevention measures in place if you want to decrease the size of the outbreak before it gets out of hand.

Appreciation of little women's genuinely feminist messaging for its time and place of writing vs disgust at the all too obvious lingering sexist undertones vs wanting jo to be the queer icon she was meant to be vs understanding her desire to be able to fall on love without having her independence questioned vs knowledge that her marrying was certainly motivated by the expectations of a sexist audience vs wanting her and Laurie to end up together because you want to see couples who are actual friends and also you want Jo to be with someone who unapologetically likes her gender nonconformity and independence vs appreciating the inclusion of a plotline where a woman refuses a man and isn't demonised for it vs acknowledging the truthfulness of Jo's claim that people who make good friends won't necessarily make good life partners vs agreeing with the moral that childhood must end and change must be accepted vs hating the way every girl's process of maturing conveniently brings her closer to the motherly American housewife ideal vs i love stories where authors aren't coy about their beliefs vs this particular story is so blatant and pushy with its messaging it almost feels insulting vs the messaging itself is a mixed bag vs it's especially frustrating to see the writer vicariously pat herself on the back for writing something neither overly preachy nor amorally sensational vs oh my god this book is so obnoxiously christian. “ you were a mistake i never should have made . ” (Alina; Post Sackett's death)
@pagetreader
Tumblr media
He'd come to pay his respects. The tent flaps were secure and the candlelight dim, yet none of these things could possibly disguise the absolute m.assacre lying beneath the blood-stained sheet. Sackett was to be sent home to his family. Sackett was to receive a proper burial, and yet Benjamin garnered no joy from this rare reprieve. Not when he was partially responsible.
Even amidst his carefully controlled breaths, Benjamin felt dizzy and sickened. This was all his fault; no matter what he tried, he was never smart enough, strong enough, good enough, to protect his best and dearest friends. And although Nathaniel S.ackett hadn't been a long-term acquaintance, he'd easily burrowed his way beneath Benjamin's defenses and become an avuncular presence, always there to lend advice and his opinions (whether they were wanted or not).
The soft whisper of tent flaps alerted Benjamin to a new presence, yet his spine didn't stiffen until a dulcet, familiar voice reached his ears: “You were a mistake I never should have made.”
He straightened at once, spinning about to find Alina in the entryway. Mouth opening and closing, a searing pang swelled between his ribs, and Benjamin staggered back as though pushed. She blamed him too. It was evident in the dark, blazing scowl etched across her features, and knees wobbling, he grabbed hold of a nearby chair to keep himself from collapsing.
"I could have told you that," Benjamin feebly offered. He couldn't defend himself. There was nothing, nothing that could absolve him of this failure, and with wet, shining eyes, he lifted his chin. "I've written home to his wife. Arrangements have been made to...t-to..." Trailing off, he clamped his lips shut and swallowed, dropping his gaze toward the ground. "If you wish to grieve in private, then I'll go."
I won't take anymore of you than I already have.

Rouxls having to do certain shit in secret despite being the single most conspicuous creature to have ever gleaned the face of the planet is something I think about. A healthy amount
The amount of divided by zero energy in this man is unparalleled. He’s playing 3836-D Chess with himself and losing bc he cannot figure out he’s actually playing checkers
Caring is a performance until Lancer comes along and fucks it up so not caring is also a performance and he makes them fight for dominance on the regular
