despite knowing they won’t be here for long they still choose to live their brightest lives - sunflowers 🌻🌻🌻 So yesterday I got this absolutely beautiful delivery. The beautiful message from my amazing friend @estherkilbride made me cry. I was having a really bad day, and these sunflowers 🌻 (which just so happen to be my absolute favourite flowers!) literally brought some sunshine ☀️ to my dark day. I honestly don’t know what I’d have done, how I’d have stayed sane, or how I d have coped if my auntie hadn’t moved in with us at the start of this pandemic. She brings so much light, laughter, love, excellent dance moves, and endless positivity into our house. Her autism and learning difficulties make life challenging for her, and she’s coped with so many big changes like a boss. Yes, we’ve had bad days. But so does every family. She’s been my best pal these last few months; for dance classes, parties, and yoga via zoom. She was there through my withdrawal from opioids and benzodiazepines, even when my main activities were crying, sweating what felt like pure fentanyl our through my pores, and eating strawberry laces. She’s been my encouragement whilst we’ve gotten fighting fit with our walks and workouts, and my buddy for all the Marvel and Disney movie marathons. I’ve stopped her cheating during our virtual quizzes, and I loved dancing with her in the garden til the middle of the night. We’ve had so many adventures and so many laughs on our walks with the dogs; even our mishaps make us laugh. My favourite is the time I had a BBC phone interview and the dogs ran off, so all you could hear in the background was Emma calling Pippi a little bastard 😂! She’s been such a vital practical help to us all. I wouldn’t have my nightly hot water bottles without her! When I’m sad, she cheers me up. When I’m defeated, she cheers me on. And every day she makes me laugh.
