I just did the Hokey Pokey at a funeral. Like in a church, a group of us stood in front of the casket, "shaking it all about". What is my life??
#funeral was for someone who was childlike and loved dancing so it kind of made sense#but I'm still reeling that the church (that is notorious for rules and decorum) allowed it#a cool lesbian played the guitar for us in a church that is outrageously homophobic#so that was kind of a win#all I was thinking was “Do not bump the casket! You will never live down that shame.”#I was standing directly in front of her parents#it was so awkward#this was considered the middle meeting musical number between two somber hymns#at a funeral discussing the meaning of life#the answer is obviously the hokey pokey#that's what it's all about#hokey pokey#grateful I opted for the closed toed shoes with my dress#I didn't know dancing was going to be required#what is my life#it was like a scene from a dark comedy#how was that real
