The Backstory
It’s not just about booze. Two James is far more than just an extraordinary product. The heart of the Two James story lies in commemorating the exceptional lives of two great men: our fathers. Through hard work, perseverance and unmatched passion, they left lasting impressions on the people they loved. We share their steadfast belief that family, friends and community are the true essential parts of life. Here at Two James, we keep that spirit alive in every handcrafted bottle we produce in Detroit, Michigan. Our Corktown distillery is located off of Michigan Avenue in Detroit’s oldest neighborhood. Our building itself has its own story to tell. Our tasting room and production space had a former life as a taxicab repair shop and also as a donut factory. The water feature on our sign is meant to emulate the distilling process. We're big on stories, and there is one behind almost everything we do here. Two James is the first licensed distillery in Detroit since Prohibition, and with good reason. We are committed to producing only the highest quality, environmentally-conscious handmade spirits. We utilize Michigan grown agricultural products with the aim of revitalizing the communities in which we all live. The craft product movement is alive and well in Michigan, and we are honored to be a part of it. Our initial product line consists of Grass Widow Bourbon, Old Cockney Gin and 28 Island Vodka. Hand labeled and crafted with care, we hope you love our products as much as we loved creating them for you. Grab a bottle when you can and let us know what you think. We hope you craft your own memories to tell with our spirits. Whether you’re seated in our tasting room, or imbibing at home, we hope you’ll raise a glass and join us in celebrating the Spirit of Detroit™.

Drink it and you will hear the voices of men & maidens singing the 'Harvest Home' mingled with the laughter of children. Drink it, and you will feel within your blood the star-led dawns, the dreamy, tawny dusks, of many perfect days.

On the wonders of whiskey at the turn of the 20th century. (We like how this guy thinks. )
