berdey, i know this is a lot, and it's stressful, but just remember: you are not two people, and you are not one person. you are an experience. make sure it's a good experience. now go have fun

..."An experience." That's... a way to describe it.
I mean, sure, take frenemies and slam them together, that's gonna be experience alright. Bad experience. We've only been friends again for a little while and now THIS.
Whatever. We're stuck together til Grandbub does his thing, right? Might as well make the best of it.

How did k!gordon even managed to get into a life-threating encounter with a soldier in the first place?!
Like all the crazy scenarios he gets into, it usually starts with him wandering off from the group. From there, he just so happened to run into some HECU soldiers.
Gratefully, this isn’t the first time this has happened, and when it does, nothing really bad happens! [Usually, whenever the soldiers see him, they either ignore him and brush him off, or calmly check up on him. As you know, there's a kid wandering through the facility alone while everything’s going to hell with the whole resonance cascade.] They’ll typically ask him where his parents are, or give him a snack. Sometimes both!
If someone on discord sends you a download link claiming to be an early Half Life prototype with removed features and VR mod support, BLOCK AND REPORT THEM. It's not a virus or anything you're just going to end up living with/adopting six or eight grown ass AIs in your computer who can't go five minutes without causing problems on purpose

GORDON ANSWER YOUR DAMN PHONE BENREY IS STUCK IN SUPER MONKEY BALL AGAIN
HLVRAI fandom loves taking traits from the old men and giving them to Benrey. Raised immorally in a lab? That's just Bubby. Eats nonfoods to get a reaction out of people? Doctor Harold Coomer had his colon replaced so he can no longer acquire dysentery from consuming weird shit. Swallowing an entire military grade radio is only the second worst thing he's eaten in the series
You don't have to answer this but if you have any Bubby head cannons or thoughts I would kill to hear them I absolutely love the way you write him
"if" I have "any"... Understatement of the year, I am always thinking about this freak
Bubby will often say that he was "born old" and didn't have a childhood. This is only partly true: Bubby was a child for like a week. It was necessary for his mental development to let him out of the tube and expose him to stimuli before his body was fully grown. After a brief and carefree orientation period, he was returned to the tube and had his growth accelerated and knowledge injected so that he was ready to get to work. He doesn't remember that week, but he's seen a couple pictures.
Used she/her for a while until he found out he could choose what he wanted. Honestly, he'll take just about any pronouns, he/him are just what he introduces himself with. And his nouns go all over the place! He is a man, he is a girl, he is a grandma, he is a husband, a wife, a car, the ultimate lifeform.
Chooses Yoshi in Mario Kart because he's a dinosaur and that makes him the best. Treats this as scientific fact.
one time in pre-canon, coomer gave bubby one of those nice silky pink robes with the fur trim as a decanting-day present and it took two weeks before bubby's supervisors managed to get him to stop wearing it instead of a lab coat. during those two weeks he presented ed all his research like this
A lesser-noticed moment that I like to talk about in Act 1 happens right after Bubby's group photo, where a marine sneaks up on the group but flees when spotted. Gordon gives the order to "get him", and the team hunts the soldier down like a pack of wild dogs and Bubby kills the sneaky bastard once they have him cornered. Gordon is exasperated at this and acts like the team just did something stupid against his wishes, despite the fact that his orders were "get him". Like, my dude. You gotta be more specific when you're talking to this crowd.
Maybe this was one of the little things that made Bubby think Gordon wasn't fit to lead them out. Of course, that just makes it all the more twisted in Act 3 when a certain scientist is the one to be horrified at what happens when he gives the order to "get him".
