That ask from today made me think what my Hornstappen inception moment was. In the first season of DTS after Monaco the camera films Christian talking to Max and comforting him and Max is looking up at him and he’s really listening even though he’s super upset and then he does exactly what Christian tells him and goes to celebrate Daniel’s win with the team even though he feels like shit.

Then I found out about the lore about Christian getting Max to do races without Jos that year and how his season turned around from then and realized it was the next race after Monaco.

Christian really said to himself I can fix this boy and then he did. And Max trusted him and let him help. imo there’s a direct line from that moment to THE HUG in AD21.

awww pookie bear. I never clocked this moment of max looking SO 🥺 after monaco 18 🥹 gaaahhhhh... also baby maxy... wahhh. this is the race after which xtian suggested to max he stop coming to races with his dad, and the very next race max scored podium 🥲

At the 2018 Abu Dhabi press conference, a reporter asks what the drivers will be getting up to during the summer break. What follows is a very flirty Seb, Lewis asking if Seb will be having another baby, and Max talking about how he “loves” Free Practice:

-Haha why does every race I’ve watched recently have a safety car in the first lap

-I thought the Force Indias collided into each other but it was Kimi who collided into Ocon!

-Somehow Kimi is still in the race, but a Williams is out

-Alonso catching a puncher as well

-This is turning out to be just as exciting as Azerbaijan 2017

-Oh that was a double puncher

-“Esteban Ocon out for only the second time in his f1 career”

-Ah Fernando is out too

-Honestly being a marshal must be so stressful

-“Last year Hamilton was ahead of Vettel, this year everything is role reversed” Last year was actually insane

-I’ve just had a horrible feeling that something might happen to either Red Bull or Renault because they’re both having too good a race

-And the two Red Bull’s touching? I’m afraid I’ve spoken bad energy out into the world

-Car 16 coming up behind the Red Bulls now

-The gap between the top three is like 10-20s and then every other car is one second away from each other, and then the gap increases back to 10s around p10

-“We don’t often mention a Sauber overtaking Fernando Alonso” but it’s Charles, so 🤷🏻‍♀️

-Oh the Bulls are fighting

-Trading fastest laps

-Daniel getting past Max and setting the fastest lap at the same time, impressive

-Ooh that was a quick pit stop

-Ohmygod Max overcut Daniel. How did that happen??

-“My mate you’re gonna have to do him again” lol

-Aaah they’ve crasheddd. I think it was Daniel’s fault this time? I’m not sure

-That horrible feeling I had earlier wasn’t just for Nico’s Renault then

-Is Valterri about to win this race?

-Every time there’s drama between the Red Bull teammates, they always bring up Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber, such is their legacy

-Also, I had to look up what the stewards said about that incident and apparently they just ruled it as a racing incident. There were some comments saying that it was the team’s fault though, for not implementing team orders 🤷🏻‍♀️

-Oh no there was a crash under the SC

-“No! No!” Ah that’s devastating

-Honestly hope nothing happens to Carlos at this point

-There are only four cars out of the points right now, because six cars are out of the race

-Holy shit this went from a Ferrari win to a Mercedes 1-2

-That was such an unfortunate move from Sebastian

-Puncher for Valterri!! This race is throwing plot twist after plot twist, I don’t think I could’ve predicted any of what has happened!

-Ohmygod he’s p14, that’s sucks so bad

-Checo’s in p3??!

-Am I about to see Charles overtake Sebastian too now?

-I’m sorry why are the graphics showing Charles p13?! Ohmygod that glitch was uncalled for

-Oh I forgot about Checo’s pending penalty, ayyayyayyy

-Ah Valterri has retired the car

-Oh nvm, he did serve the penalty! He is getting the podium!!

-Carlos passing Charles now

-Now there are only three cars running that are out of the points

-I was so not expecting a Lewis win here!! Crazy!!

-And a Kimi p2 and Checo p3?!?

-Oh this was Charles first points finish?! Hartley’s too?

-The Force India garage are going crazy

-“Yes!! Yes!! Yes!! *****! Sorry, sorry for the bad word!” 😭😭

-“I think today I did the best two laps of my whole career” It’s been so long since I’ve seen a happy Checo, someone kill me
