GRAND MAGUS – Sunraven

Grand Magus se forme à Stockholm en 1999 sous l’égide de JB (chant) et Fox (basse), premier album éponyme « Grand Magus » en 2001, large renommée avec « Iron Will » en 2008, mis à part le blocage du covid en 2020, les suédois ont toujours sorti 1 disque tous les 2/3ans, comble du plaisir le groupe revient avec « Sunraven » via nuclear Blast, enregistré avec Steffan Karlsson ingénieur et mixeur, comme leur précédent « Wolf God » 2019.

Sunraven est le premier véritable album conceptuel autour de ‘’Beowulf’’, poème épique de la tradition orale anglo-saxonne pour la retranscription d’une épopée germanique en vers, contant les exploits du héros Beowulf, ici changé par le nom de Sunraven (soleil et corbeau) représentation pour le chanteur du groupe Janne « JB » Christoffersson de ce que représente Beowulf.

Épique et héroïque le heavy metal de Grand Magus façonne l’ensemble de son album pour le conte. Vous y entendrez ce goût romanesque pour l’aventure, c’est ce qui a de plus fondamentalement excitant et qui est parfaitement exécuté. L’impression que cet opus fait jaillir les héros comme Rahan, Conan Le Barbare, Ragnar Lodbrok dans une suite d’intrigues Heavy Doom Viking.

En narrant vers de plus larges concepts, comme la vie, la mort le groupe trouve l’espace pour les choses émotionnelles dont les mythes racontent beaucoup sur nous en tant qu’êtres humains, avec en toile de fond la dualité du bien et du mal.

Force et puissance de sentiment noble à surmonter les obstacles, mais aussi à répandre un heavy metAl à la stature solide, vraiment ancré dans son mythe, lestant sa bravoure d’un groove imparable, digne lignée de Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Manilla Road, Bathory.
