Day 3 - We spent the day in George Town, Grand Cayman. The country is one of the wealthiest in the Caribbean because it offers a tax shelter to many US and other countries corporations, trusts and insurance companies. It has a lot of wonderful restaurants, beautiful beaches and upscale jewelry stores. There were two other cruise ships in port so the place was very busy. The traffic policeman in the photo was having a hard time keeping the tourists from walking against the light and stopping the very busy main road.

Senior Spring Break
There is a lot of hype around senior spring break. There seems to be the general thought of going to a place with tons of other seniors, usually to another country, to kind of let loose and have some fun. The good majority of my senior class was going to Mexico. I debated long and hard about whether that was the place that I wanted to go. I decided that a group of 60 people would be fun for about two days and then after that I would be ready to come home. So I decided to go the unconventional route. I decided to go to a place with one of my best friends and our two families.
We decided to go to Grand Cayman. It was a direct flight under 4 hours where the weather was ideal, the water was breathtaking and the adventures were different. We spent our days toggling back and forth between the beach and the pool at our hotel. We spent night times at restaurants, watching the sunset over the ocean. We had some daytime adventures of swimming with the Stingrays, holding starfish and riding horses on the beach and in the ocean. We also had the opportunity to do a bioluminescent tour at night where we will be able to see how microorganisms turn a bright blue in the ocean water under moonlit skies. Most of our late nights were spent around a pool table with our parents playing cards.
Well there were tick tocks and snapchats of kids in Mexico swimming in pools with hundreds of other teenagers having bubble parties, party booze cruises and late night bar trips, I was not at all regretful of my decision for a lower key spring break. I was able to savor moments. I was able to have a mixture of fun and relaxation. And I was able to build core memories with my best friend and my parents. It was a 9.5 out of 10 for a spring break. )The only reason it wasn't a 10 was because I got stung by a jellyfish.)
