these were fun to do as a kid but it shocks me that this 2007 cheat code book fails to mention you can unlock REIMU to play as. probably because shes hidden but not behind any sort of code or password but still.

here she is, ZUN helped produce graffiti kingdom which is why shes here. i love graffiti kingdom. touhou ghibli 3d platformer where you 3d model your own player character (or play as a pre made reimu)

Random question to tumblr:

Ever play/heard of Ape Escape? Or Magic Pengel / Graffiti Kingdom? A friend claims Ape Escape is too obscure and I swear I've only seen like one other person even aware of Pengel OR Graffiti Kingdom (but never BOTH).

No I'm not going to be more specific with Ape Escape games in general, ANY of them will count (1, 2, 3, the dead 4, 1 PSP port, Ape Quest, Million Monkeys, Ape Academy, the party game...).

Also playing includes ANY amount of play not necessarily to completion.

Collection of misc. official art from Magic Pengel (Doodle Kingdom) and some from its sequel Graffiti Kingdom. This is an ambitious, niche little game that I really like, especially its soundtrack. The idea of being able to draw and play as your own 3D characters was incredible for 2002.

Members of Studio Ghibli worked on this game, which I didn't realize at first but made sense. It reminded me immediately of Spirited Away with the marketplace hub.

Turns out, our favorite Boxdogs didn’t just stop their cameo travels at Lost Magic!

Takt of Magic for the Wii came out in 2009, and was only released in Japan, BUT, ended up getting a fan translation patch (With the unfortunate drawback that the coding made it so that a bunch of Japanese to English character numbers had to be compromised, hence why our poor Boxdogs here were stuck with having to have 3 character names in translation.)

The white Boxdog from Magic Pengel gets acquired automatically through the story, while Pastel has to be unlocked by getting gold scores on 90 levels, and then successfully rescuing her in the unlocked extra hard bonus level.

Oh, and yes, she still has her gold leg bangle c:
