Let's talk series! One of my goals this year is to practice some patience and actually tackle some series. I usually tend to stay away from series because I never want to wait until the next book and my memory after reading a book is usually temporary. But part of the joy of reading are the feelings of anticipation and imagining new plots for myself. I also happen to think that series covers are absolutely beautiful. The latest installment, Winterkeep released January 4. I love that each book can be read alone because they are written as companion books. The covers are absolutely stunning and I love the maps included in each one. Buddy read with my lovely ladies @chapterswelove @embookish! This book was on several “fave fantasy standalone” videos on booktube so I picked it up... and it stayed on my TBR shelf for a long time! I needed this buddy read to push me and I don’t regret it! . I enjoyed the book. It had a classic fantasy feel to it. I didn’t realize that it’s actually book 1 in a series. However, this books wraps up very nicely so it can definitely be read as a standalone. Overall, I gave it 4 stars. 🌟 It has some issues such as a lot of insta moments, but the story and characters were good. . The audiobook has a full cast but some of the voices were so bad. 🤦🏻‍♀️ The acting and music kind of felt like an old school 90s fantasy tv show. Zena, Warrior Princess level of cringe. To be fair, I loved the show as a child, but it was too awkward for me to enjoy the audiobook. Stick to the physical or ebook if you can. . Full review is on Goodreads and my blog. Hello book dragons! So today I got to stay home (sick day) so I decided to visit a few old favorites of mine. When I first started getting back into reading I was very picky (still am honestly) but I knew this one librarian who would give me a recommendation that I would love.
