WIP Wednesday
The title is still a wip since the idea just came to me an hour-ish ago but have this lil snippet I wrote up for it.
"Mav... we need help."
"What's wrong kiddo?"
"It's..... well it's more of an in person conversation. But I... we.... need you. Could you fly out this weekend?"
Mav quickly glances at his calender. "I can be there tonight. Just... are you ok? Grace ok?"
"Yea... yea. We're ok. I didn't mean to worry you. I just.... it'd be better if you were here."
"I'll call Sli see if he can get me on a plane in the next hour ok? I'll let ya know. But you know I'll always come if you need me B."
"I know." He can hear the relief in his kid's voice. And while he's still worried that Bradley's calling requesting his help, he's reassured that B says they're ok.
"I'll see you soon, Slugger."

🤣🤣 I love this one. Poor Sli is so done with all our shits. Especially when Bradley and Mickey just leave the girls to him like "nope. We know you got this well see you for breakfast Sli."
Drunk Girls
BFF!Whiskey x BFF!Dragon feat. Slider (aka Whiskey's tired husband)
Tagging: @dragon-kazansky @mtnofgrace @mrsjaderogers @callmemana @askmarinaandothers @breadsquash
It was 4am when the poor bartender called the house phone, waking up a very exhausted Slider.
When he answers he can hear their giggling in the background - fuck he really just needed his beauty sleep.
"Is this Mr. Kerner?"
"Yes, I'll be there in five."
The sight that greeted him should have been hilarious. Whiskey and Dragon were giggling in the corner booth clearly trashed out of their minds. Instead he was tired, ready to be done with their shit.
"Come on girls." He calls out. "Let's get you two drunk bitches home."
"Heyyyyyyyyy Ronnie." Whiskey says, trying to wink at her husband but failing.
"Hey babe." He replies, gently tugging on her arm to get her out of the the booth. Which was starting to feel like wrestling a bear.
Once he finally got Jade out of the booth and on her shaky feet, he moved to help Rachael who was thankfully a little easier. He threw an arm over both of their shoulders and walked them out to the car. Dropping a wad of cash on the bar on their way out.
He gets both women in the backseat where they both slouch over, still giggling. He debates dropping Dragon off at her house but that's further away from the bar than the Kerner household so he sighs, knowing he is going to be sleeping on the couch tonight.
"Ronnieeeee. I love youuuuu." Jade says from the backseat while they are stopped at a red light.
"I love you too Jade." He smiles at her in the rear view mirror.
"Hey I love you too Sli!" Dragon - who had been quiet up until now besides her giggling - said.
"I love you too Rach."
The two go back to giggling. The sound would echo in his head for hours.
Once he pulls into the driveway, he helps the girls out of the car and into the house. They both take off running (okay more like fast walking and stumbling) to the master bedroom to get into bed.
"Thanks Slider. Hey no problem girls. We're going to take the bed tonight Slider. That's fine I'll sleep on the couch." He has the mini conversation with himself as he prepares the couch to be his bed for the evening. He can't even fall asleep because the sound of giggling reaches the living room until its replaced with snores.
The next morning he wakes up first and makes breakfast and coffee for the two heathen women in his life.
Years later he would remember this night when he has to drag Spicy and Lucky home after a night out, its almost the same thing down to the small details. They definitely get it from their adoptive mothers.

A/N: hehehehe this one is probably my favorite one.

Dark Shadows (2012)
While I didn't enjoy this film, that doesn't mean you won't. No matter what I say, the people involved in this project did it: they actually made a movie. That's something to be applauded. With that established...
Dark Shadows shows promise at first, with tried-and-true but effective “fish out of water” humour. From there, the plot gets progressively unsure of where it wants to go, until it starts throwing stuff at the screen haphazardly. I don’t know if anyone could’ve salvaged a workable film from the woeful screenplay by Seth Grahame-Smith but director Tim Burton doesn’t seem to be trying very hard.
In 1760, Barnabas Collins (Johnny Depp) breaks the heart of his servant, Angelique (Eva Green). After she uses dark magic to kill Barnabas' fiancée (Bella Heathcote) she transform him into a vampire - so that he will outlive anyone he ever loves. Soon after, he is captured by villagers and buried "alive" in a coffin. Escaping from his prison in 1972, Barnabas finds his descendants in financial ruin, his beloved reincarnated as their new nanny (Bella Heathcote as Victoria), and Angelique still alive and still obsessed with him.
After the fact, it’s obvious Barnabas is the film’s main character. While watching, it isn’t so clear. You think Victoria will be a major player but she’s an afterthought with no personality. Most of the character feel like director Tim Burton self-indulging a little by tossing a bone to his favourite performers (Christopher Lee has a minor role which can’t have taken more than a day to shoot) or like inclusions put there just because they had an equivalent in the original 1966 television series. The film lasts nearly two hours. If you cut out Helena Bonham Carter as the Collins family doctor who does very little doctoring, the kinda-sorta misfit son David (Gully McGrath), his ne’er-do-well father (Johnny Lee Miller), the rebellious teenage daughter (Chloë Grace Moretz), the elderly maid (Ray Shirley) and the drunken groundskeeper (Jackie Earle Haley), you probably wouldn’t have more than 40-minutes’ worth of a movie. That’s not much but it’d be tighter, focussed and more enjoyable. None of these people have anything to do, and the less said about Alice Cooper’s cameo as himself, the better.
It feels like a bad soap opera that’s being made-up on the spot. Stuff just happens and sure, sometimes it’s funny but nothing’s building up to anything bigger. Now Dr. Hoffman is seducing Barnabas. Ok? Why? So we can cement that everyone finds Johnny Depp in vampire makeup irresistible? I guess that’s a thing but I don’t really get it.
Then, finally, a facsimile of a plot rears its ugly head. Ah! So the film is about Angelique and Barnabas’ rivalry. Wait. She waited 200 years for him to escape from the box she buried him in and in the meantime, she’s been using her fishing business to drive the Collins out of house and home? What a lame way to use your magic powers. It all builds to a lacklustre conclusion in which people are thrown around by magic. I think we’re supposed to feel upset about doomed romances and people caught between two irreconcilable worlds but so little time has been spent fleshing out the mushy stuff you just don’t care.
As an 18th-century vampire struggling to keep up with “modern” technology and sensibilities, Johnny Depp does well. He delivers all of the film’s best moments and yeah, some of it you’ve seen before but it’s still effective. The costumes, sets and art direction are also quite good so visually, Dark Shadows is pleasant to look at - especially when Eva Green is seducing Barnabas. Just about everything else is cringe-inducing and tone-deaf. Sexy as she may look, Green is terrible in this role and I can’t even blame her. No one shines thanks to the weak screenplay and scatterbrained direction torn between drama, horror and comedy. I nearly completely forgot about Michelle Pfeiffer, which is too bad because her character actually contributes something of value to the story.
The first time I saw Dark Shadows, I didn’t love it but found things to enjoy and gave it a mildly positive review. Re-examining it now, 3 stars seems way too generous. Although never awful, Dark Shadows doesn't give you many reasons to watch it. (April 5, 2019)

Rahuvian Fashion & Style pt 2
Earlier, I made a post about Rahuvian Fashion & Style and this is part 2 of that. Rahu influence makes a native drawn to very flashy, loud, colourful style. Obviously, how we channel our style depends on many different aspects and most people probably have a style that is an amalgamation of several different influences. But looking at Rahu influence in isolation, I have noticed that it makes its natives favour a mix-match-y, eclectic, bold style. Rahu & Ketu are opposites even though they're both shadow planets. They're the head and the torso respectively. Rahu favours a very hyper & loud style but Ketu is the opposite and I've noticed Ketuvians preferring to wear all black, or darker colors in general and have a super nondescript style. Ex: Jungkook, Magha Moon & Mula Rising who pretty much exclusively wears black and has a relatively simple style.
Hongjoong- Ardra Moon
A major feature of Rahuvian style is how these natives like to pair seemingly random elements together. Y2K style is very Rahuvian for this reason.
2. G-Dragon- Venus in Ardra
Another aspect is how the style is ever shifting, there is a broad eclectic preference but each outfit is completely different from the other.
3. RM- Venus in Swati
4. Ranveer Singh, Ardra Sun, Shatabhisha Moon
5. Avril Lavigne, Swati Moon & Venus
Even when they're not very "colorful" Rahuvian outfits are still loud and attention grabbing, this is because Rahu is the head and representing maya and material aspirations, so one seeks to completely immerse oneself in that energy
6. Grace Jones, Venus in Ardra
Rahu influence is very prominent in the charts of many pop-stars and entertainers because Rahu loves to be the centre of attention and feels comfortable being on stage/being looked at by many people because they can pull light from as many different sources. Rahu is in darkness and being the centre of attention means they can pull light from that many people. Rahuvians often struggle with "feeling real" and this can manifest in many ways, esp in relationships but one reason they're so drawn to fame is because being perceived by that many people helps them feel more grounded, although this does have other consequences as well. A lot of other planetary influences would prefer to not be at the receiving end of that much attention or feel uncomfortable about it but not Rahu.
7. Lady Gaga, Swati Moon
8. Katy Perry, Swati Stellium (Sun, Rising & Mercury)
9. Willow Smith, Swati Sun & Mercury
10. Jeffree Star, Venus conjunct Ketu in Swati
11. Doja Cat, Venus in Swati
12. Rei Kawakubo, founder of Comme des Garcon has Swati Moon and Ketu in Shatabhisha (Ketu is where we draw creative inspiration from as it is the lowest point)
13. Alessandro Michele, former creative director of Gucci has Venus & Mars in Swati
14. Ariana Grande, Ardra Sun
15. Victoria Beckham, Venus conjunct Jupiter in Shatabhisha and Ardra Rising
hope this was interesting <33

Those in italics have five or more pieces of usable visual, written, or audio propaganda already. If you have any visuals like photos or videos, or if you have something to say in words, submit it to this blog before round one begins on June 25th!
If you don't see a name you submitted here, it's because most or all of their career was as a child/they were too young for the cutoff, their career was almost entirely after 1979, or music was something they only dabbled in and are hardly known for. There are quite a few ladies on the list whose primary career wasn't "recording artist" or "live musician," but released several albums or were in musical theater, so they've been accepted.
#long post#miss billboard tourney#i wasn't originally going to list them all but i decided to do so because there are so many without propaganda

Meet Spicy
Bradshaws Masterlist
Grace Michelle Smith was born and raised in North Carolina. She and her brother were raised by their grandparents after their parents were killed in a car accident when she was five. Her brother was five years older than her, and when he graduated high school at seventeen, he moved to Florida. He didn’t want to leave Grace behind, but she was only twelve, and no state would actually give him custody of her.
He checked in on her often; they had weekly if not daily phone calls and skypes, but it just wasn’t the same as having her big brother there. Especially after he got married and had her first niece. She and her sister-in-law didn’t really get along, so Grace ended up losing her constant contact with her brother.
High school was rough, and when she got her first boyfriend her senior year, she was certain he was the one. She wished Kevin could meet him, but he was fresh into starting his business and on his third girl. She loved her nieces endlessly, but she really missed her brother. Her grandparents died her senior year; her grandmother passing six months after her grandfather from a broken heart. Neither got to see her graduate, and she felt so alone. Kevin tried to get her to come to Florida with him, but she knew her sister-in-law was very much against that idea.
So Grace declined his offer, promising him she would be fine. She graduated high school and went to community college, getting an apartment with her high school boyfriend. He went straight to work out of high school, and she started noticing things that should be red flags, but her eighteen year old self brushed them off as him just loving her. They were married six months after graduating high school, despite Kevin’s protest at the idea. Grace was alone in the world, though, and she truly didn’t think anyone else would love her like Ryan did.
Six months after the wedding things started to change. Ryan became more possessive and he constantly talked down to her. Grace threw herself into her studies and into work. She hated her retail job, but it kept her away from her apartment so she didn’t complain too much. She started talking to Kevin less and less, and while he kept trying to question her on it, she constantly blew him off. He had his own problems with a new business and a divorce looming and she refused to add to his load.
The longer they were married, the worse Ryan became. Grace was honestly afraid of the day he became physically abusive instead of just verbally. It hadn’t happened yet, but she was almost positive it was coming. She started saving every penny, and finally worked up the nerve to talk to Kevin about it. He’d been divorced for a year now, and they’d gone back to talking once a week, when Grace could find a minute away from Ryan. Kevin hated Ryan’s guts, and he tried at every instance to get Grace to move to Florida with him.
When she finally told him everything that went on, Kevin started adding money to her savings account. She wasn’t exactly thrilled about it, but she also knew she would need all the help she could get to get away from Ryan. She dropped out of college and took up a job as a waitress. She learned the restaurant backwards and forwards, and the owner even let her help the chef in the kitchen, where Grace seemed to shine. After her twenty-first birthday, she moved out of her apartment with Ryan. Kevin came up and helped her move back into their grandparents’ place and changed all the locks and her contact information. She promised him just as soon as she had more money saved she’s leaving.
He helps her get a lawyer; someone her ex sister-in-law’s lawyer recommended, and she filed for divorce immediately. She wasn’t surprised each time her lawyer called to say he returned the papers or was trying to fight it in court because he was so possessive of her. It took Grace about six months working two jobs and with Kevin continuing to send her money before she had enough saved up. Kevin was disappointed when she told him she wasn’t moving to Florida, but he understood her need to strike out on her own like he had.
He was surprised, however, when she picked California. She just wanted to be as far away from Ryan as possible. Her lawyer promised her he would get her divorced finalized and that she was free to move before it happened. Kevin helped her pack everything up, both of them deciding to sell the childhood home and split the money, and then they set out on a cross-country road trip to California. She settled on Miramar because of the job opening at a bar that wanted to expand their kitchen. Kevin helped her check out a few places to live, and even though it didn’t seem like she’d saved enough, Kev co-signed on a loan for a small beach bungalow that she loved.
“Kev I swear, one day I’m going to pay you back.”
Kevin hugged her tight. “No you’re not. You being happy and safe is all that matters to me. No matter the cost. Just promise to come visit and don’t be a stranger. The girls miss you.”
“I miss them too.” She gives him a sad smile because she knows he wishes he had them more. “I promise. As long as you promise to come visit as much as possible too.”
“I will.” He gives her another tight hug before they head to the airport so he can get back home. Even though she picked up and moved her entire life all the way across the country, she feels safe and happy for the first time in many years.
She takes the job at the Hard Deck, immediately clicking with Penny, and even though she’s not professionally trained and is only almost twenty-two, Penny is impressed with her skills. They expand the bar to have a small working kitchen, and Grace absolutely loves it. She creates some heavenly dishes, mixing between traditional Cali food and her southern roots home cooking. She works the bar occasionally when they’re really busy or when Penny takes a break, and while it takes a while for her shyness to wear off, she gets close with the regulars.
She realizes what Fightertown really means, and she falls in love with it and the beach. Some of the retired aviators work their way under her defenses and become like family to her. Ron “Slider” Kerner practically adopts her, giving her the nickname “Spicy” from the heat her southern food brings. Slider makes her feel safe, is like the father she never had, and the whole ‘86 crew practically adopts her into their folds. Kevin hasn’t seen Grace this happy in several several years, and he knows this move has been good for her.
It isn’t until the Dagger Squadron gets stationed at Miramar that she feels her resolve of no guys slipping. One aviator in particular catches her eye, but she is way too shy to even talk to him. Slider teases her about it, Bradley having been the first kid the ‘86 crew adopted, but she refuses to let any of them say anything to him about her. It takes almost a year before she works up the nerve to even say anything to him; but when she does, she knows Bradley “Rooster” Bradshaw is going to change her life forever.

okay new system (anyone can be eliminated in the group stage), new regulars, new groups for the regulars. There will be one elimination in each of these groups, a further 8 slots will be filled by nominations on a tournament be tournament basis, the structure of the nominee groups and the eliminations per group could potentially be very different to those of the regulars and will be highly dependant on the number of nominations.
Here is the new list of regulars, dashes indicate where the groups change. As always, constructive criticism is welcome.

This release includes: Cabaret (new cast), Sunset Boulevard, Nine, The Hills of California, N/A
CABARET September 16, 2024 | Broadway | 4K MP4 (11.64GB) | bikinibottomday’s master Cast: Adam Lambert (Emcee), Auli’i Cravalho (Sally Bowles), Bebe Neuwirth (Fraulein Schneider), Calvin Leon Smith (Clifford Bradshaw), Steven Skybell (Herr Schultz), Henry Gottfried (Ernst Ludwig), Michelle Aravena (Fritzie/Fraulein Kost), Gabi Campo (Frenchie), Ayla Ciccone-Burton (Helga), Colin Cunliffe (Hans), Marty Lauter (Victor), Loren Lester (Herman/Max), David Merino (Lulu), Julian Ramos (Bobby), MiMi Scardulla (Texas), Kayla Jenerson (s/w Rosie) Notes: Excellent 4K capture of the new cast (debuts for Adam, Auli’i, Calvin and Michelle)! Some wandering / readjustment and unfocusing throughout. A bit of occasional obstruction from people walking the aisles. Includes curtain call, audio is fed from external source. https://flic.kr/s/aHBqjBHS99 | ASKING $20 USD NOT FOR SHARING EXCEPT THROUGH ME UNTIL APRIL 2, 2025
N/A July 27, 2024 (E) | Off-Broadway | 4K MP4 (6.05GB) | bikinibottomday’s master Cast: Holland Taylor (N), Ana Villafañe (A) Notes: Excellent 4K capture of this new political play! Head visible on the bottom right but doesn’t block anything. Some wandering / readjustment and unfocusing throughout. Includes curtain call, audio is fed from external source. https://flic.kr/s/aHBqjBBC1r | ASKING $20 USD NOT FOR SHARING EXCEPT THROUGH ME UNTIL APRIL 2, 2025
NINE August 10, 2024 (E) | Kennedy Center | 4K MP4 (8.76GB) | bikinibottomday’s master Cast: Steven Pasquale (Guido Contini), Shereen Ahmed (Claudia), Carolee Carmello (Liliane La Fleur), Michelle Veintimilla (Carla), Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio (Guido's Mother), Jen Sese (Stephanie Necrophorus), Lesli Margherita (Saraghina), Elizabeth Stanley (Luisa Contini), Georgina Pazcoguin (Annabella), Paloma Garcia-Lee (Maria), Haley Fish (Diana), Allison Blackwell (Mama Maddelena), Charlie Firlik (Young Guido), Sasha Hutchings (Asa Nisi Masa), Marina Pires (Sister Vincenza), Lucia Giannetta (Giorgia), Yani Marin (Camila), Morgan Marcell (Norma), Kamille Upshaw (Leonor), Dylis Croman (Dr. Ernst) Notes: Great 4K capture of this wonderful production! Act One is pretty messy, with a minute worth of blackout at the beginning then again a few minutes in due to late seating. Alongside that, a lot of it is wideshot and generally not as well filmed as usual. Gets better as the show goes on, and Act Two is much better. Minor obstruction on the far left blocks some action but is generally worked around. Some washout throughout. Increased moments of wandering and unfocusing. Includes curtain call, audio is fed from external source. https://flic.kr/s/aHBqjBD5eV | ASKING $18 USD NOT FOR SHARING EXCEPT THROUGH ME UNTIL APRIL 2, 2025
SUNSET BOULEVARD September 28, 2024 | Broadway (Previews) | 4K MP4 (10.24GB) | bikinibottomday’s master Cast: Nicole Scherzinger (Norma Desmond), Tom Francis (Joe Gillies), David Thaxton (Max Von Mayerling), Grace Hodgett-Young (Betty Schaefer), Ensemble: Olivia Lacie Andrews (Nancy), Brandon Mel Borowsky (John), Shavey Brown (DeMille/Stan/Finance Man), Hannah Yun Chamberlain (Young Norma/Patsy), Cydney Clark (Joanna/Guard), Raúl Contreras (Finance Man/Frank), Tyler Davis (Sheldrake), E.J. Hamilton (Lisa), Sydney Jones (Dorothy), Emma Lloyd (Mary/Heather), Pierre Marais (Sammy), Shayna McPherson (Camera Operator/Katherine), Jimin Moon (Morino/Hog Eye), Justice Moore (Jean), Drew Redington (Myron/Jones/Camera Operator), Diego Andrea Rodriguez (Artie) Notes: Excellent 4K capture of this anticipated revival’s first preview! Some head / railing obstruction at the front of the stage that occasionally blocks off characters sitting / laying down. 30 second blackout in the New Year Eve scene. There was a glitch with the camera that led to some zooming out without input, which sometimes affects the video (primarily in the first ten minutes). Increased moments of wandering / readjustment and unfocusing throughout. One scene is very dark, therefore very difficult to see and takes a little bit to focus on the main action. Includes curtain call, audio is fed from external source. https://flic.kr/s/aHBqjBKv1R | ASKING $20 USD NOT FOR SHARING EXCEPT THROUGH ME UNTIL APRIL 2, 2025
THE HILLS OF CALIFORNIA September 24, 2024 | Broadway (Previews) | 4K MP4 (11.28GB) | bikinibottomday’s master Cast: Laura Donnelly (Joan/Veronica), Leanne Best (Gloria), Helena Wilson (Jill), Ophelia Lovibond (Ruby), David Wilson Bares (Luther St John), Ta’rea Campbell (Biddy/Penny), Bryan Dick (Jack Larkin/Dennis), Richard Lumsden (Joe Fogg/Mr Potts), Richard Short (Bill/Mr Halliwell), Lara McDonnell (Young Joan), Nancy Allsop (Young Gloria), Nicola Turner (Young Jill), Sophie Ally (Young Ruby), Liam Bixby (Tony), Ellyn Heald (Mrs Smith), Max Roll (Mr Smith), Cameron Scoggins (Dr Rose) Notes: Excellent 4K capture of this stunning new transfer! The hits just keep on coming with the Harris campaign. It’s almost hard to keep up with the good news.
With that, here we go:
Barack and Michelle Obama issued the following statement this morning:
“Earlier this week, we got a chance to catch up with a friend who we’ve known for more than 20 years. She’d had a pretty busy couple of days, to say the least. But we couldn’t be more excited for her -- or more thrilled to endorse Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee for President of the United States.
“We agree with President Biden -- choosing Kamala was one of the best decisions he’s made. She has the resume to prove it: As a prosecutor, she defended the Constitution and fought for folks who deserve a fair shake. As California’s Attorney General, she worked hard to ensure everyone was treated fairly, no matter who they are or who they love. As a Senator, she was one of the strongest voices holding the Trump administration accountable. And, as Vice President, she helped lead the charge on expanding the Affordable Care Act, combating climate change, fighting for reproductive freedom, equality, and the rule of law.
“But Kamala has more than a resume. She has the vision, the character, and the strength that this critical moment demands. There is no doubt in our mind that Kamala Harris has exactly what it takes to win this election and deliver for the American people. At a time when the stakes have never been higher, she gives us all reason to hope.
“We know over the next few months, Kamala will continue to make her case directly to the American people -- Democrats, Republicans, and independents alike. As she does, she will have our full support -- and we look forward to watching her unite our party and our country around a vision for a brighter, fairer, more prosperous future.
“We’re going to do everything we can to elect Kamala Harris the next President of the United States. And we hope you’ll join us.”
Harris campaign “Breaks Zoom”:
From the HollywoodReporter - Hundreds of thousands of Kamala Harris supporters have rallied behind the presumptive Democratic nominee this week, with Zoom calls breaking records with six-digit attendance numbers.
The events started Sunday following President Joe Biden’s announcement he would not seek re-election. More than 44,000 Black women joined a call to galvanize supporters for the vice president’s historic run for president, drawing celebrity names — including Yvette Nicole Brown and Jenifer Lewis — and raising an estimated $1.5 million.
The trend continued with thousands of Black men on a call earlier this week (they raised $1.3 million), followed by Zooms for white women, LGBTQ supporters, South Asian supporters and more.
At the white women call Thursday night, there were more than 100,000 participants (officially now 150,000), a number so staggering it caused significant technical glitches that sent many to watch the livestream on YouTube, where more than 25,000 also joined the call. ($10 million was raised)
Hollywood was represented across the interest groups. Mindy Kaling joined the South Asian call, with George Takei, Zachary Quinto, Raven Simone, Sophia Bush, Ashlyn Harris, Brian Michael Smith and Justin Tranter attending the LGBTQ call. (Tranter, the co-writer of Chappell Roan’s “Good Luck Babe,” announced he would donate $20,000 to the cause.)
Katie McGrath, Connie Britton, Pink and more signed on to the white women’s call, with Pink reportedly joining right after leaving the stage of a performance in Sweden.
Another Zoom call, women for Harris, is scheduled for this weekend.
Grace outperforms ignorance:
JoeBiden’s farewell address drew 29 million viewers - nearly triple the number that watch Mushroom Donnie’s acceptsance speech.
Harris points to a different direction regarding Israel and Gaza:
After meetiongwith Netanyahu, Kamal Harris said the following:
"I have met with the families of these American hostages multiple times now, and I've told them each time they are not alone, and I stand with them. And President Biden and I are working every day to bring them home.
"With over 2 million people facing high levels of food insecurity, and half a million people facing catastrophic levels of acute food insecurity. What has happened in Gaza over the past nine months is devastating; the images of dead children and desperate, hungry people fleeing for safety, sometimes displaced for the second, third or fourth time.
"Let us all condemn terrorism and violence. Let us all do what we can to prevent the suffering of innocent civilians. And let us condemn antisemitism, Islamophobia and hate of any kind. And let us work to unite our country."
President Biden has made Val Demmings a Governor of the Postal Service. Can we now finally fire Louis De(no)Joy and restore thePost Office?
We knew Trump was rattled by Kamala’s arrival in the campaign, but we didn’t think he would actually wimp out of the debate. But that’s exactly what the orange chickenshit did yesterday. Making up some silly bullcrap about “Barack Hussein Obama” and flailing like the hopeless loser that he is, Trump has officially backed out of the scheduled debate in September. Vice President Harris is already calling him out and making sure the media knows she is ready to go.
All seven battleground states - AZ, GA, MI, NC, NV, PA, WI - are clearly competitive now and in play. New battleground state polls this week also showed Harris gaining and in a competitive position in all seven states. Polls of Maine and New Hampshire found Harris at Biden 2020 numbers, an election Biden won by 4.5 pts. Simon Rosenberg: “To be honest the movement we are seeing towards Harris this week has been a bit surprising to me. It usually takes a while for big events to work their way through the electorate. So that we are seeing meaningful movement this early is a good sign.”
I’ll end for now with across-post from Kareem Abdul Jabar. I think this has significance for all of us here:
Life is a long lesson in humility.
—James M. Barrie, author of Peter Pan
“Barrie should have added, “If we’re lucky.” By that I mean we’re lucky if our lives last long enough for it to be a “long lesson.” But I also mean we’re lucky to have constant reminders on how to be humble because that makes us empathetic to others and lays a foundation for being able to love and be worthy of being loved. In other words, humility breeds happiness.
“Arrogance is the enemy of humility. That need to feel like we matter beyond the confines of our little world means we can only feel important when validated by others—not by ourselves. Unfortunately, the need for that validation often leads to unhappiness. For many, the only way to feel significant is to chase after some sort of fame or popularity. This can be done through gathering “likes” on social media or by accumulating wealth to flaunt. The idea is that if others are envious, the person has proven they are more significant than those who envy them. This is the math of madness.
“For a happy few, fame is merely a by-product of pursuing personal greatness—not to flaunt but just out of curiosity about how far they can go. This is true of the athlete and the artist, the inventor and the innovator. Their joy comes from their reach exceeding their grasp. It comes from the trying more than the succeeding. This path is littered with failure and humility, which only makes them strive harder. The joy is in the striving, not in the accolades of others. Or as Janis Joplin said, “On stage, I make love to 25,000 different people, then I go home alone.”
For me, being a speck of dust is not an existential burden but a profound relief. It is the great equalizer that reminds us we all face the same challenges of wanting to feel useful, needed, and worthy. Humility teaches us that those challenges are overcome through compassion, kindness, and love for others rather than seeking power over others.
“There is nothing that teaches humility more than aging. The increasing frailties of the body remind me daily just how insignificant so much of what I once thought was important really is. I also am acutely aware of how many opinions I had in my youth and even later that embarrass me today. That humility taught me to form my opinions carefully using facts, experts, and research rather than my biased gut or peer pressure.
“The closing door of life just inspires me to make a positive difference in others’ lives while that door is still open, even if just a crack and I can see light. Humility lights the way.”
You can’t go wrong taking advice from Kareem.
Robert Hubbell has been ending his daily posts with astronomical photos he’s taken. To me, they’re humbling to think a small being on a small planet orbiting a small sun at the edge of a small galaxy can look out at creation and comprehend it. So of course the following is a perfect ending. (Thanks Kareem)
