The war was raging on and the Tsarina felt the weight of it upon her shoulders. Her thoughts, every moment was filled with war plans. Finance budgets. Who to send. Soldiers to commision. Things she’d seen at the war hospitals. The war chased the woman wherver she went. Anya couldn’t escape. Not even her dreams were a safe haven. Before they had been filled with her lover, her son. The family she wished to have properly but her husband stood in the way. Now...now she only saw death and destruction and ships advancing on their country.
Anya woke with a start, her chest heaving as she struggled to come to terms with the fact that she was awake. The room was dark except for the weak, silvery light that streamed into the room from the moon. It was still the evening. Her hands came up and raked through her hair. The tossing and turning that had occured due to her nightmare had caused a mess of the braid her lady had constructed before she had retired.
Still breathing quickly, her hands instinctively reached for the sleeping form of her lover. Needing to feel something solid. An anchor. Her fingers brushed over his bare back, finally allowing her to gain some semblence of composure. “Lyubimiy.” The Tsarina mumbled, not wanting to wake Alexander from his rest.

Plot drop:
Mistrust had bred throughout the Russian court. The inability of the Tsar to strategise and prepare the country for war had bred hatred. Not to mention the Tsar’s erratic, dangerous behaviour. Such behaviour had been bred due to a noxious mixture of herbs and potions added to anything the Tsar would ingest by trusted advisers: tea, cakes, meats. Anything. It caused intense paranoia and hallucinations.
Following a dangerous breakdown in the war room, with the Tsar threatening to murder his wife, he has been deemed mentally incapable. For his safety and for the safety of the Tsarevich and the Tsarina, he has been transported to a Sanitorium in Siberia. The cool air will be healing and calming for his fragile mental state. Due to being deemed mentally incapable, the Tsar has been deposed and stripped of his title. He will henceforth be referred to as a Grand Duke within the Sanitorium. The people working within the Sanitorium are completely loyal to the Tsarina.
The Tsarevich, Viktor, will assume the throne, being named as Tsar. Due to his young age, his uncle, Grand Duke Alexander will act as his regent. His mother will be known as the Dowager Empress henceforth and sit on his council.

Scotland was so green. The countryside was vast and its weather damp more often than not. There was a beauty in this however, something that drew the Tsarina outdoors. War meetings were exhausting, especially when she was desperately attempting to negotiate aid for her country. Russia was a vast nation and the Tsarina was desperate to reverse the horrendous decisions of her husband’s. A little bit of manipulating had sent the Tsar out to sea to command their naval forces. And now it was up to the Tsarina to negotiate assisstance.
War meetings could only be held for so long. Outside of the castle was a refuge and the Tsarina seemed to always find herself in the stables. With everything going on with the war it seemed as if it was the only place the woman could breathe.
Stroking the horse she had grown fond of, Porcelain, the Tsarina heard footsteps and glanced up to see who had entered the woman’s sanctuary. “Duke de Medici, I have heard much of you around court.” The Tsarina said with a small smile, her hand stilling against the beast. “May I ask what brings you out into the stables? I usually am deprived of company here.”

Russia’s stability and ability to remain in the war currently was all due to Scotland and its queen. It had been a desperate plea by the Tsarina at the time, attempting to broker support from anywhere, anyone. An attempt to undo the devestation her husband had caused with his illjudgement. The Scottish Queen had answered the woman’s call tenfold. The support she had given was allowing Russian troops to regain their footing. The war was still brutal and cruel, but a turn was coming. Anya could feel it. The appearance of the Scottish Queen was one that happened at an ill time. The news of her husband’s deposition due to his mental state was travelling quickly as the Russian court attempted to reorganise themselves.
“Dearest Valentina. I appreciate you travelling so far to my court by ship, especailly with the tragedy of what happened to your husband. We mourn your loss and pray for his soul.” Anya greeted warmly, moving forward to greet the woman as she entered the throne room. “It seems we are both having horrendous luck with our husbands in this war. It is quite devestating, but we can find solace in our grief together.”
