All right. 10-year high school reunion. Gavin can admit it: Not the place he wants to be.

Sure, he's rich and successful now, he tours the world, he's literally been on TV, there's over a million people who check in every time he posts a photo or video online, but that doesn't mean he wants to be reminded of the dork he was in high school.

Back then you'd still needed a diagnosis for hormones, and god knows there were a generous number of assholes at his high school who were not about to let that one go. As in he'd literally spent his entire high school career dealing with snide comments about how he was mentally ill, which, hey, yeah, but rude, nonetheless.

It wasn't even that which was bothering him the most, though. He didn't care if he had to see some normie weirdo from high school at this thing; he just didn't want to think about the person he'd been in high school.

He'd been so tiny, meek and depressed. He'd let people walk all over him because he didn't give a fuck, dating anyone who asked, hanging out with anyone who stuck it out, trying whatever fucked up substance someone put in his hands.

He was a weak-willed loser, so terrified of the way he stood out that he'd have done anything to keep from standing out more.

The only reason he'd even agreed to waste his evening at this thing was because his high school bestie had begged him to come, and then she'd bailed at the last second because she "is a doctor now" and she "has to deliver this baby!"

That bitch.

But Gavin's stuck in the boring suburb he grew up in for the rest of the week now with literally nothing else to do but go drink with old pervs who used to work with his dad or whatever, so he ends up at the reunion.

He gets through the door, slaps on a name tag, and then makes a beeline for the buffet to scope out the food and booze situation, because the chance of him doing any of this without something tasty to eat is literally zero.

Gavin's mind is firmly elsewhere, daydreaming of the next place he might travel, when his thoughts are interrupted by the man of the evening.

He laughs practically on auto-pilot, holding up his glass of alcohol guiltily. He's barely touched it, intent on being able to drive by the time he's ready to get out of here.

With enough influence and fame came invitations to events he'd never even heard of before, and with that came a PA who decided whether or not to accept those invitations, which then went into a schedule, and all he had to do was dress nicely and show up, but if he's being honest, as incredible as this party is, he'd rather be in the middle of nowhere stuffing his face with good food. Being inside too long makes him feel like a wild animal.

"I can't make any promises," he says. "Especially if you'll tell me where you got that tortilla soup from."

axel leans against the rooftop railing, the city skyline shimmering like a sea of lights behind him. the breeze tugs at the loose strands of his hair as the faint hum of music drifts up from below, mingling with the sounds of laughter and clinking glasses. he sips his drink as he lets his gaze wander, landing on a face he recognises immediately. a grin spreads across his face as he quips his brow, both amused and intrigued. he pushes off the railing and makes his way over, “well, well, well,” he says, his playful lilt in his tone, “if it isn’t my favourite nimble-fingered guest. last time i saw you, you were halfway out the door with my best champagne.” he lets out a soft chuckle, “what’s the plan tonight? another escape, or are you actually going to let me play host this time?”

actually a lot of jinki duos and moments in general don't get attention and it makes me kinda sad, but it is what it is. I just wish some of those moments could go viral so that more people could see what type of person he is but it hardly ever happens nowadays. I know twitter viralability doesn't really mean anything at the end of the day, but it's just frustrating because I know so many of these moments would've taken off if it were between other members (I hope no one takes this as hate against the other members, this is more my frustration with the fandom not really paying attention to jinki and misinterpreting his interactions with the members like you said)
