14 DRESSING HACKS TO MAKE YOU LOOK CHIC BUT NOT VULGAR
In the ever-changing world of fashion, you should also change your style by adjusting to the latest hot look clothing trends. Since there are so many brands and accessories to choose from, such as flats, heels, shoes, sandals, and more, it can be difficult to abide by specific dressing rules for ladies. This often ends up in you failing to achieve the desired look even after trying hard. Dressing up well doesn’t always have to be showing a lot of skin or wearing something that’s nice but makes you feel uncomfortable. If you have been there, done that, fret not. We are here to help you out. It’s just a matter of focusing on a few key points, and you’re done!
In this blog, you’ll get an idea about 14 dressing hacks to make you look chic but not vulgar.
1- Plan to show off your skin in the right manner:
It’s easy to display skin in a way that doesn’t look lewd. One of the tricks is to ensure that if one side of the body is visible, the other should be hidden. This alternative will give you a respectable and fashionable appearance. The very purpose off-shoulder tops were created. If you’re wearing an off-the-shoulder top, you don’t have to wear a short one-piece with it. You can aptly amp up your look by wearing a long gown with it. Take inspiration from the movie stars; their attire gives them a modest appearance.
2- Shirts style guide:
A shirt is a versatile garment that can be donned on various occasion. A shirt can also be used to dress up for a wedding. However, the proper way to wear a shirt is to button it and tuck it into your trousers. Also make sure that it’s not too tight or use a safety pin to make sure that it doesn’t give a view through the buttons. That’s when you’ll have a fashionable and respectable appearance. When putting together chic attire for women, shirt can be styled in ample of ways such as accessorizing, with skirts, over bralettes and much more.
3- What you need to know about accessories:
Accessorize your outfit with a necklace, ring, bracelet, or handbag. Accessories also help hide the areas you don’t want to highlight. A neckpiece, for instance, can help cover deep necks. Remove it and you are ready for an evening party. A belt can help give more structure to your attire. If you’re wearing regular clothing, go for a statement necklace or handbag. If you’re completely dressed, there’s no need.
4- Pant selection based on shoe height:
Take the shoe height into account when choosing trousers or parallels. When your pants are longer and hit the ground, it looks a little sloppy. First and foremost, they will also catch dirt. Your trousers should have a hem that reaches your ankles. This looks classy and makes you look like a boss lady.
5- Let your hands free:
Is your evening planned and you are most probably going out? Wear a light purse rather than a large purse. Take a look at your hands. A bulky purse binds your wrists, ruining your appearance. Bringing a handbag would free up your hands to carry things and raise them for dance steps. It also makes sense to choose a clutch or something that goes well with the occasion.
6- Appreciate yourself:
What counts is how much you praise yourself when it comes to dresses. It doesn’t matter whether you’re overweight or thin; what matters is how you handle your body. Allow yourself to be free and secure in who you are. It relieves and comforts you.
7- Forever nude pumps:
The days of matching your dress, accessories, and shoes at the same time are long gone. The pinky-ponky look is no longer desired. Dress up in a unique and exotic outfit. When it comes to pumps, the colour nude will never go out of style. Nude pumps will look great with every dress and will make you stand out.
8- Necklaces layering:
If you’re someone who gets perplexed while wearing several necklaces, this tip is for you. They can be worn in layers. It gives you an eloquent and exotic appearance. Bulky necklaces, on the other hand, should not be worn around the neck.
9- The loose and tight look amazing:
Yes, a mix of loose and tight looks great. If you’re wearing a loose shirt, pair it with skinnier jeans. Don’t go for a sloppy look from head to toe. Style yourself in such a way that people will notice you when you drive by.
10- Necklines:
When dressing up for an evening party, you typically go for a more revealing outfit. Cleavage is one of the most popular areas. The ideal situation is to display 2–3 inches of cleavage. A well-fitted push-up bra will enhance your figure.
11- Colors that stand out:
Because of their dark skin, some girls avoid having bright colours in their wardrobe. But the truth remains that they look stunning in those gowns. Try out some neon colours. In this way, you can use your bright colour top as one of the best chic attire for women.
12- Don’t wear a visible bra:
Choose a bra that won’t show through your shirt. Some tees are so light that they display your bra. Too much lace will draw attention to the look rather than the rest of your outfit.
13- Prints can be combined:
When it comes to mixing and matching, you should be cautious. Keep an eye on your dress’s colour contrast and print. Two prints should either be the same colour or have the same pattern.
Keep these stylish tricks in mind and you’ll be good to go! If you wish to put forward your best foot, rely on websites such as Hot Styles Online for an enviable look.

Big Fish: Jennie
Location: Hollywood, California
The sweet bubbly substance of champagne slid down Ruby’s throat, chugging back the slight burn of alcohol as she lusciously laid across the couch in their hotel suite. The femme fatales newest target led them to the hills of Hollywood, California. After their defeat in Las Vegas, the three mischievous friends sought out a new mission to replace the damage of their financial loss at the Vegas strip. Her slim frame was draped in a white form fitting sequin evening gown, thin spaghetti straps holding the heavy fabric against her bare shoulders. The dress dipped deliciously in the back, exposing her bare skin from her shoulder blades down to the curve of her lower back.
Her dark eyes were hidden behind a white masquerade mask made of thin lace detailing. The bright hues of the angelic color paired beautifully with her tanned skin and dark locks. She tilted her head back, gulping back the rest of the champagne before setting the thin flute down on the coffee table. “What’s this event even about?” Ruby mumbled, quickly reaching for the champagne bottle to pour herself another glass.
“The Kim’s are known for their charity work.” Ruby shifted her stare to find Jade whose voice was traveling out from the bedroom as she glanced at herself in the floor length mirror. “Jennie hosts a black and white masquerade every year to raise money for various charities.” Jade was standing in the mirror, tugging at the ends of the fabric of her halter top mini dress before she moved to fasten a tool skirt around her waist, transforming the dress into an elaborate evening gown.
“Whatever, let’s just get the diamond and dip.” Ruby began downing her second glass of champagne, the alcohol serving as a great pregame for the evening. Emmy was in the bathroom, her body covered in a simple bathrobe as she curled her hair to pin back into an elegant half-up, half-down style.
The youngest of the trio glanced past Jade, finding the gaze of the brawn of the group. “It’s not that easy. She has Hoseok.”
“Who’s Hoseok?” Ruby placed the champagne glass down, standing up to join the others near the large bathroom. She leaned against the frame of the door as she placed a hand on her popped hip.
Emmy meticulously ran the final strand of her hair around the curling barrel, holding it in place to heat up as Jade interjected. “He’s a private detective. Not to mention her extra form of security.” She mumbled, still adjusting her dress as she tried to imagine herself doing her part of the scheme in such attire. How did Emmy constantly get her stuff done while wearing ludicrous dresses and ensembles?
“That’s why he’s your responsibility.” Emmy hummed as she powered off the curling iron, setting it down gently before moving to her makeup bag. “Jade will disable the security system and I’ll snag the diamond.” Jennie was the proud owner of a rare pink diamond valued at twenty-three million dollars. This type of score would place the girls in the big leagues, amping up their hustles to elevate them into upper class living.
Jade moved to the bedroom to locate her black mask with black and silver detailing, gently placing it over her features as she tied the strings behind her head. She adjusted the strap to sit below her hair, grinning as her identity was now somewhat hidden behind the veil of metal detailing. She turned to face Emmy, stunned that she was just now starting on her makeup when the eldest were already prepared to leave.
“Seriously? You’re not done yet?” She moved to grab a small black clutch that contained her phone and equipment needed to override the security system, watching as Ruby also fetched her belongings.
“Go on without me. I already have a ride to the event anyways.” She hummed as she glanced back towards her black gown that carefully draped over the bed. “Gotta make an entrance and be fashionably late if I wanna grab people's attention.” She chuckled before twisting her torso back towards the mirror to swipe crimson pigmented lipstick across her lips. Ruby and Jade simply shrugged at each other, rolling their eyes before setting off to the event, tugging their hotel suite door shut behind them.
“You better hurry if you want this plan to work.” Ruby called back before hearing the click of the lock mechanisms engaged. “This is why she’s the face of the operation. She enjoys this too much.” Ruby huffed, knowing that she'd be terrible at pulling the attention of others given that she didn’t give a shit half the time. Jade agreed, enjoying her life as the introverted tech guru since she was never one to be the dramatic yet lovable extrovert.
“Better her than us.” Jade agreed, recalling her time as a stripper in their previous attempt at a hustle. That was exactly why the two eldest kept to their tasks, knowing if anyone could pull off the theatrics, it was Emmy.
—
Ruby rolled her eyes after successfully surveying the venue, making sure to pinpoint their targets and other areas of interest. However, the only thing she couldn’t spy was their dramatic counterpart. “Have you seen her?” She whispered to herself, hoping other attendees didn’t hear her as she tried to talk to Jade through the earpiece.
“No… I knew she would be fashionably late, but this is ridiculous.” Jade scoffed, making eye contact with Ruby from across the room.
“Who are you calling ridiculous?” Emmy finally joined the atmosphere after being dropped off by her limousine driver as if she were a starlit celebrity. Her black silk dress made her shine in the crowd as the material plunged from her shoulders, displaying the perfect canvas of her torso. A black metallic mask with intricate details gave her an air of mystery as her vibrant blue irises broke through the darkness. She strolled into the estate, demanding all eyes on her as she adjusted the matching silk gloves on her forearms.
She paused just at the end of the grand foyer that led into the main room, which primarily hosted the event. She dazzled under the impressive chandelier, making sure to elongate her leg temptingly from the slit that ran down the top of her thigh. Jade watched their youngest member walk in like she owned the place and found herself rolling her eyes. “You. You’re ridiculous.” She chuckled.
“Thanks for finally joining us.” Ruby grunted sarcastically, moving her position to get a better view of the hostess.
Emmy brushed the skin of her collarbone with the soft silk of her glove, smiling as she passed other guests in attendance. “You can’t rush beauty.” With a theatrical flutter of her eyelashes, she moved through the crowd, finding herself at the bar with Ruby standing just at the other end.
“Alright, keep the host and her rottweiler busy while I find the security panel.” Jade announced, backpedaling from the room to check out some possible leads they found upon their initial tour.
Ruby glanced over towards Jennie as she stood near the marble fireplace, sipping a glass of champagne, leaning into her bodyguard to whisper. She hummed with approval as she eyed the handsome man, idolizing his tone frame under the expensive material of his suit. “Oh, I’m all over him.”
Emmy watched Ruby leave the bar, sashaying her hips as she approached Jennie and Hoseok. “Oh my god, are you trying to seduce the guard?” She tried to bite back the laugh that bubbled in her throat as she witnessed her stoic friend soften her features for a man.
“I don’t try…” She flipped her hair behind her shoulder, turning her head just enough to catch Emmy’s stare. “I succeed.” Her strides stopped when she was met with Hoseok’s suspicious glare. Ruby felt the muscles in her face pull as she flashed her most charming smile, “Hello, my name is Ruby.” She offered her hand coolly towards the elite woman before her. Jennie hesitantly took her hold in a polite gesture. “Just wanted to tell you how impressed I am with the event. You do amazing work for the community.”
Jennie quirked her eyebrow, her gaze flicking up and down Ruby’s figure. “I guess so. We’ve only raised a million dollars so far, but I think most people just come for the free entertainment.”
The strength in their trio wasn’t sure how to respond to that and only faked a laugh, gauging the hostess’ reaction. Jennie just continued to stare coldly as if scrutinizing Ruby’s character. She cut her losses on trying to schmooze the affluent woman for the moment and turned her attention towards the devilish man standing beside Jennie. “Now, why aren’t you in a mask?” Her tone was teasing and playful, something her teammates would have rolled over laughing if they heard. She wasn’t usually on this end of the spectrum, trying to flirt with men to gain their favor, but she also never had any interest in many of the men they encountered.
He only stared at her as Jennie spoke for him, “He’s actually on duty, making sure my guests don’t take advantage of my generosity.” Ruby was starting to realize that Jennie was much more than just a pretty face with a huge bank account. She was brazen, headstrong, and independent. Hoseok was not there for protection; he was there to do her dirty work and that was abundantly clear from the small amount of time she spent with them. In another life, Ruby and Jennie probably would have been best of friends; gossiping about others and buying expensive, yet frivolous things…such as an obnoxiously pink diamond.
“Ah, I completely understand. Honestly, I wouldn’t trust anyone here.” She stated bluntly.
This seemed to pique the interest of the ever-poised Jennie, “And why is that?” Her painted red lips pouted with curiosity as she waited for Ruby to elaborate.
“Their only interest in life is their best interest and there’s nothing they wouldn’t do to cut someone down just to reach the top. It’s a dog-eat-dog world.” At that moment, a staff member came by offering a tray of drinks and Ruby happily accepted, throwing back the glass to gulp at the alcohol.
Jennie watched, curious by her candor in such a public setting. “What about you? Are you willing to cut others down?”
Ruby let the burn settle in her throat before meeting the pair again. “Hell yeah, but I look out for the little guys too cause we wouldn’t be shit without them.” Hoseok furrowed his brow as he examined the lean beauty, analyzing her every move. He wasn’t used to people talking in front of his boss that way and he wasn’t sure how Jennie would react to her forthright behavior.
The opulent woman hummed in thought, “I like you.” She stated simply as a smirk graced her lips. “Do you mind keeping me company from all the mundane small talk? I’m so bored of the weather.” She chuckled at her own joke and Ruby fought the urge to dance. She was officially in with the hostess of the event and had her undivided attention. While Jennie was clearly very intelligent, Ruby could easily see that she was a wild child looking for the first sign of trouble so that she could break free from all the polite facades.
Ruby instead smirked, “Sure. Beats talking to these assholes.” She tossed her thumb over her shoulder towards the rest of the patrons, which made Jennie cackle. Ruby waved over another staff member and grabbed three drinks, handing them to Jennie and Hoseok. He pushed the drink away politely, but Jennie insisted he have a drink to celebrate their new friend. Ruby beamed with success knowing she had the pair engaged in her distraction as her comrades handled the rest.
Emmy ordered a drink while Ruby went in for the kill and was now nursing the harsh liquid as she entertained herself with the acting skills of her friend. She couldn’t hear any part of the conversation, but she could deduce the expressions of the hostess and her right-hand man. Her moment of peace was disrupted by a low whistle that blew from behind her. “Damn, I would recognize that ass anywhere…” She bristled upon hearing the voice as she instantly associated it with the absolute tool that was JK. She slowly turned around, praying her instincts were wrong; they were not. “It’s nice to see the twins again too.” He clicked his tongue, fixating his gaze to her accentuated breasts.
“What are you doing here?” She hissed, watching as he nudged himself to stand against the bar top right next to her and yelled a drink order.
The bartender gave him a nod of acknowledgement before Jungkook turned his attention to the dolled-up brunette he visually devoured just moments ago. “Obviously for the same thing as you…to save the dolphins.” He lied with a breathy chuckle escaping his lips.
She only scoffed, “Oh haha. I’m sure that’s exactly why you’re here.” The sarcasm was dripping with every word as she glared up at him from behind her mask.
He fixed his black mask over his eyes before glaring right back in a playful manner. “Well, I could ask you the same thing…Plan on giving the host a lap dance? I don’t think she swings that way.” His smirk was big and proud; he loved riling her up.
She fought the urge to hit him with her clutch, needing to keep a fairly low profile until Jade finished taking care of the security systems. “You’re such an asshole.” She seethed, already annoyed that she might have to deal with him disrupting their plans. She glanced around the room, looking for any of his teammates. She didn’t see anyone recognizable and turned back to Jungkook with a huff. “Just stay out of my way, or you’ll regret it.”
“I love getting in your way, you always deliver the best punishments.” He winked at her, laughing as she left the bar to create space between them. He intently followed her movements, watching her ass jiggle under the sleek fabric as she stomped away from him. He bit his lip, thinking back on their private lap dance until he noticed Jimin approaching the bar.
The bartender brought him his drink order as the eldest male joined him. “Why are you smiling?” Jimin asked, intrigued by the out of place smirk on Jungkook's lips.
“I just found out things are about to get more interesting.” He hummed, taking a large gulp of his drink. “We gotta tell V the girls from Vegas are here.” He clapped his hand on Jimin’s shoulder before picking up his glass, “I’ll keep my eyes on the stripper and make sure she’s distracted. You worry about the rest.”

The ambiance of the extravagantly decorated million dollar home casted a sort of enchantment as Jade promenaded through the venue, seeking out the location of their security systems operations panel. Hundreds of influential guests attended the evening's event, discussing charity work and partaking in the evening's fundraisers to support various local charities. The Kim's black and white charity banquet was the event of the season, promising an evening of lavish luxuries and decadent cuisine.
Jade maneuvered her way through a group of individuals, politely excusing herself as she broke up their conversation to get through them and one of the many tall structural columns adorning the grand hall of Jennie’s estate. Her eyes scanned her surroundings, glancing past the multitude of extravagant gowns and men in suits as her eyes skimmed the grand staircase leading to the overlooking balcony of the second story.
She continued on her quest, approaching the handrail as she gripped the bottom of her dress, lifting it ever so slightly to be able to step up without tripping and causing a scene. Her eyes fell down to her feet, watching as the edge of her heels hovered over the next step to make sure she didn’t make a fool of herself in front of such an important crowd of people.
Just as she continued up each step, she felt a presence hovering over her, causing her eyes to shoot up at the intruding patron. She was stunned to see a mysterious man staring directly at her. She stumbled back, stunned by how intrusive he was.
“Excuse me.” Jade stuttered, shrinking under his stare. He had a simple black mask concealing his identity. His features seemed vaguely familiar as Jade studied every freckle on his face, recalling the small one just at the tip of his nose. It was in that moment that she remembered him from their altercations in Vegas, recalling his sinister smirk from the moment he handcuffed her to a bed. She huffed, feeling the annoyance bubble within her core as his intense stare pinned her down.
“Look what the cat dragged in.” Taehyung grinned mischievously, passing his tongue against his bottom lip as he savored the sight of her figure in such formal attire. He could recognize her lips anywhere, recalling how lush they were in their moment of pleasure back in Vegas, wishing it would have continued farther than simply handcuffing her and leaving her flustered and bothered.
Jade instantly shot a hand to her waist, popping out her hip in agitation as she leaned against the rail. Taehyung was walking down the steps from having explored the second floor, thoroughly amused that he was running into the woman he seduced into submission only to disable her from helping her colleagues in their scheme against their common hustle.
“I gotta say…” His eyes blatantly checked her out, raking his eyes across her figure once again as he leaned in to invade her personal space. “I preferred you dressed in handcuffs.” He cooed, smiling proudly at the exasperated expression that plagued her features.
“I prefer you when you’re not being an insufferable ass.” Jade snipped back, practically growling her words as a voice interrupted from behind her, causing her to flinch in surprise.
Jimin walked up the stairs behind the attractive brunette, his eyes glued to Taehyung as he called after him. “V, JK’s looking for you.” He spoke plainly, watching as the second oldest of the three men flashed Jade another smirk of contentment before skipping his way down the steps to seek out their youngest counterpart.
Jade twisted her torso, glancing back as her eyes shifted to find another man come up from the bottom of the staircase, slightly shorter with a thinner frame, his hair slicked back to compliment his white suit. She gawked for a moment; stunned by how attractive he looked in the light-colored attire, despite how his white mask concealed his identity perfectly.
He had to be one of the guys accompanying Taehyung the last time they encountered each other, placing him as her equivalent given that he didn't resemble the build of the guy who was part of Namjoon’s entourage. “I didn't realize you and your friends are big on charity work.” Jade narrowed her eyes through her mask, watching as Jimin motioned for her to continue walking past him.
“Extremely.” Jimin lied, his tone much softer and flirtatious compared to Taehyung’s. Jade sighed as she walked back down the stairs, knowing that going up with Jimin would be the worst decision given they were probably searching for the same thing.
Jimin on the other hand recalled Jungkook’s warning about the Vegas girls also being at the event, vaguely placing Jade as part of the female trio. Jade chewed the inside of her lip, the tension making it clear that they both knew who the other was. “Funny how this is the second time you and your shit friends happen to be in the same place as us.”
Jimin chuckled at her accusation, glancing around to find that Taehyung joined Jungkook who was most likely filling him in. “A coincidence.” Jimin hummed. Jade glanced back to see him following behind her. “Make sure not to get in our way this time.” Jade’s jaw tensed up, Jimin’s sly comment increasing Jade’s annoyance as she leaned against one leg, popping out her hip.
“As long as you stay out of mine, it shouldn’t be a problem.” She hissed; each word delivered as if serving him a spoonful of sugar laced with salt. At that moment, a couple walked past them as the pair found themselves standing face to face amongst the sea of socialites. “How generous of you…that is an amazing contribution.” She mused, as she gently tapped his shoulder in an attempt to blend into the crowd of people standing close by. The passing couple flashed them a smile as they continued on towards the grand display of horderves, Jade mimicking the fake happiness from her voice onto her features. “If you’ll excuse me?”
Jade wasted not a single moment as she trailed off towards the refreshments, eager to exhale the breath she seemed to be holding since running into the boys. She adjusted herself, grabbing a small plate as she stuffed a shrimp tartlet into her mouth. She chewed, hiding her features as she spoke quietly into her earpiece. “Looks like we got company.”
Her eyes scanned the surroundings for her partners, finding Ruby still discussing charitable events with the various influential guests, keeping them busy as Emmy was mingling and flirting up a storm with various guests. Emmy brushed a hand to fix her hair behind her ear, huffing at Jade’s comment. “Tell me about it.”
The youngest staged a laugh as she patted a handsome stranger on the shoulder, pretending to laugh at his joke before excusing herself and turning to walk towards the dance floor. “Looks like we aren’t the only ones wanting that diamond.” Her voice was hushed as she spoke into her shoulder, passing it off as if she was fixing her hair once again recalling her interaction with Jungkook. She glanced around, spotting the infuriating man across the room, realizing his eyes were glued to her every move as she strolled through the grand foyer.
—
Emmy whipped her head back to the handsome stranger as she avoided making eye contact with Jungkook. She smiled, gazing into his sharp eyes behind the simple black mask that sat on the bridge of his nose. “I’m sorry, what were you saying?” She apologized, trying to keep the man engaged in conversation as a clear hint for Jungkook to stay away.
His wide smile stretched as his piercing gaze softened, “I was asking your name so I could offer you a dance?”
Her heart fluttered by his decency as she peered at his raised handheld out for her to take. “I’m Emmy.” She whispered, placing her palm in his and let him lead her to the middle of the dance floor. She cringed as they stepped closer towards Jungkook but returned her smile as she twirled into his arms. “I don’t think I caught your name.” She mentioned, knowing she was too wrapped up in the other male in the room and more than likely missed it.
He chuckled, finding her honesty endearing with her large curious eyes. “I’m Juyeon.” He curled an arm behind her back, letting her rest against his bicep while cradling her other hand as he took the lead in their steps. The performance was modest, and Emmy was relieved of his gentle mannerisms as she rarely encountered such behavior.
It was moments like these that made Emmy feel that empty pit in her stomach like something was missing. She knew what her life lacked, but with their work, it always felt like they were on a job even when they were just casually out and about. There was no room for a relationship or even casual dating as they were always on the road, making their next move. So, for now, she melted into the handsome Juyeon’s arms, daydreaming about the life that could have been if she wasn’t in the middle of trying to steal a twenty-three-million-dollar diamond.
“Mind if I cut in?” She heard Jungkook rudely interrupt her visuals with his shameless smirk.
It seemed Juyeon went to protest, but before he could speak, Jungkook ripped Emmy from his hold and moved across the dance floor, leaving him in the dust. He felt her fight against his grasp, causing him to tightly squeeze her wrist and yank her to stand in front of him. “Ow!” She hissed, narrowing her eyes on the offender as he coaxed her to pose the same way she danced with Juyeon. “Get your hands off me.” She whispered sharply, struggling to escape his grip.
“Better settle down. Don’t want to make a scene, do you?” He pushed back on her wrists, cornering her against a pillar. He leaned in close, hovering over her lips. “Come on, baby girl. You didn’t give him any trouble, why are you playing hard to get?”
Emmy laughed sarcastically, “Don’t tell me you're jealous?”
He quickly exhaled, “No, definitely not jealous. He hasn’t had the privilege of touching you the way I have.” He shamelessly bit his lip after he swiftly ran his tongue over his bottom lip.
She narrowed her eyes as her irritation bubbled over. “Oh, you mean the only action you can get because you had to pay for it?” She snapped, breaking free from his hold to sidestep him.
Jungkook pushed his tongue against the inside of his cheek at the hit on his ego before turning around just before she left his proximity. He caught her wrist and spun her back into his arms, holding her close by her waist as one of his hands cupped her cheek. “You’re just mad because I said you were flat.” He noticed her pupils burning with anger as he slid his hand down from her waist to her plush rear end, giving the cheek in his palm a firm squeeze. “My mistake.”
Emmy gasped from his touch, her emotions in a whirlwind from his back handed compliments. She tried to process her situation, thinking of a way to escape his advances as he gently began to sway them, moving his hand away from her ass. “Just know, it won’t happen again.” She declared, feeling trapped in a dance with her arch nemesis.
He chuckled, “If you say so, baby girl.” He smiled as she fell into step with his dancing, accepting her fate for the moment until she could figure out a way to get rid of him.
—
With Emmy and Jungkook tangled up in a dance and Ruby happily distracting Jennie and Hoseok, Jade had the perfect opportunity to return to her task of seeking out the security control panel. Unfortunately for her, Jimin was on her trail, observing her any chance he got as the evening progressed with socializing and the occasional dancing.
Jade was leaning against the back wall of the foyer, enjoying the music and quietly stalking the multitude of players in their most recent hustle as she casually sipped on a glass of champagne. She strategically analyzed each player, surprised to see Jimin strutting towards her direction.
She rolled her eyes, huffing in annoyance until a bright blonde in a sexy white form fitting gown stepped in front of Jimin, pulling his attention away from the eldest brunette. She curled an eyebrow as she observed the scene, stunned to see how quickly the peppy socialite was able to distract him. A flirtatious smile crossed his face as he politely addressed the woman, Jade chuckling in amusement as she watched him turn up the charm, the young lady clearly being interested in the man behind the mask.
It was the perfect opportunity for her to slip away, focusing her energy back on the task at hand as she gulped down the remnants of her glass. The slight sting of the alcohol didn’t affect her as she gripped the handrail of the grand staircase, quickly lifting the bottom of her dress so she could quickly ascend the steps. Her hand trailed along the railing as she made her way towards the second floor, moving quickly towards the hallway completely ignoring the black velvet rope blocking it off to the public.
Jade bunched up the fabric of her dress once again, cupping it in her arms as she lifted a leg to step over the rope, quickly swinging the other over as she adjusted the skirt of her dress. She brushed herself off, taking quick strides down the hall as her eyes scanned the various rooms of expensive artwork and collectables.
“This place is a gold mine.” Jade whispered to herself, turning the corner to spot a small half door nestled in a small nook at the end of the hallway. “Bingo.” She hummed happily, looking towards the clutch that was hanging off her wrist from its strap. She quickly grabbed the bag, sliding the zipper open to grab her phone. Her heart raced, working quickly to tap the pads of her fingertips along her LED screen to pull up a program meant to send electrical disturbances to any electronic device, making it easy to manipulate the system and gain access.
With a quick tap of her phone, the keypad on the door flashed green, gaining her access as she cautiously twisted the handle. Inside was an extravagant electric panel with a large LED touch screen and various wires and switches that connected to the several elements of the security system that controlled each room's surveillance system. She hummed in satisfaction as she retrieved a multi-use screwdriver from the inside, working quickly to loosen the screws preventing her access to the back panel.
Jade continued by finding her phone and a wrapped-up wire, quickly working to connect the pair as she removed them from her clutch. She plugged in the wire on the edge of her phone as if charging it before snaking the remainder along to the panel, connecting it to a port located inside the cover she removed.
Once successfully overriding the password function of the security system, she quickly turned her attention to the display of the security system, reaching in her clutch to retrieve a small transparent casing that she slid atop her finger, careful not to leave any fingerprints behind. She programmed a signal to disable the camera and motion sensor in the vault located in the east wing of the estate, managing to set a timer for the system to resume operation within thirty minutes.
Once completed, Jade disconnected the wire and removed the cover from her finger as she slipped everything back into her clutch, zipping any evidence closed. She moved to tap the earpiece that was nestled within her eardrum, thankful for finally getting a step ahead of the boys. “Okay, we’re in. The system will reset itself in thirty minutes.”
Ruby was still socializing with Jennie and Hoseok, managing to keep a steady and interesting conversation going as Jennie grew fond of the company. She glanced towards Emmy who was still dancing with Jungkook, knowing she wouldn’t be able to answer them even if she wanted to. She hoped the youngest would be clever enough to get away from him without bringing too much attention to herself, knowing they needed to snag this steal before the boys could outsmart them yet again.
The brawn of the group glanced down at her empty cup, knowing this would be an excellent time to excuse herself. “I’m feeling parched. I’m gonna fetch another.” Before she could turn to walk away, Jennie reached for her arm in a display of kindness before motioning towards Hoseok.
“Nonsense, Hoseok can fetch us another round.” Jennie beamed, watching as Hoseok nodded respectfully before excusing himself to retrieve the drinks and run his rounds. “Do tell me about your charity work.” Jennie proceeded, enjoying the company of Ruby as she unknowingly kept her distracted from aiding the others in any way possible.
Jade closed the door to the main security control center, moving to turn the corner only to feel a crushing weight bump into her as it sent her back a few steps. She quickly moved a hand towards her head, nestling it in her palm as she shook off the impact of running straight into Jimin who was glaring right at her.
“Where’s the panel?” He was straight to the point, having noticed how Jade disappeared moments after he was distracted meaning she was strategically trying to keep things under wraps.
She grinned, “I have no idea what you’re talking about.” She rubbed her head a few times before dropping her arm to cross in front of her chest. “I was simply looking for the ladies room.”
Jimin narrowed his stare, stepping forward to snatch her clutch from around her wrist. The way he effortlessly slid the clutch from her grip frustrated her, snapping her hands forward to snag it back. “Fuck off!”
Jimin twisted his body around, pulling open the clutch to see the wire and finger pad cover that was clearly crumpled and used. “Don’t play dumb. You and I both know what this kind of wire is used for…” Jimin’s expression was serious, wanting to make sure he was trying to get the upper hand.
“Even if it was, why would I tell you anything?” Who was this guy anyways? She wasn’t about to share the only lead her and the girls had over these jackasses. She snatched her clutch back from Jimin who observed her features closely. A malicious grin stretched across his lips as he stepped forward.
“From what I gather from Vegas…you're the gullible one.” He couldn’t bite back the chuckle in his voice, stepping back once noticing that he successfully invaded the amount of personal space she was comfortable with. He could sense the confidence exuding from her demeanor, knowing she must have already succeeded in disabling the security system.
“And given that cocky attitude…” He clicked his tongue, turning to face away from her as he began to walk away. “I’d say, you already did the hard work for us.”
Jade felt her cheeks flush red in anger as she watched Jimin pull out his phone to no doubtaby inform his commrads about the current state of the security system. “Glad to know you’re just as much of an ass as the slut you call a friend.” Jade hissed, allowing her anger to bubble over as she chased after him.
“Trust me, I’m the least of your worries.” Jimin glanced around the corner, hearing the faint footsteps approaching the hall as he processed his surroundings in search of a place to hide. He noticed a door leading to a different room, fidgeting with the handle as the metal rattled back and forth without budging. “Shit.”
Jade glanced at him in confusion, watching his expression morph into one of panic as he quickly attempted another door closer to the sounds of the oncoming footsteps. “What the hell are you…” Before she could speak to any father, Jimin had his hand trapped over her mouth, muffling any sounds she attempted to make as he pulled her against his body.
She went to protest, pushing against him with her palms until his voice dropped an octave, a chill running through her spine at the intensity of his whisper. “Play along.” She quirked her brow as he released the hand that was latched across her lips, pulling her in close to unite their lips in a moment of undeniable passion. His kiss was infectious, the desperation behind his ministrations were toxic as she felt her entire body ignite with lust. She wanted to rebut his affection however his words echoed in her subconscious.
Play along, she thought as she hung her clutch against her wrist, allowing her arms to cling onto the fabric of his suit. Her palms clawed at his lapel, yanking him closer by the material as she reciprocated the affection, her heart swelling with pride at the groan of contentment that vibrated from his throat.
As their tongues invaded the seam of each other’s lips, the echoing footsteps became louder as Hoseok turned the corner with a look of severity painted across his face. “Hey! This is a private area.” He spoke harshly, completely unphased by the couple practically swallowing each other before him. “Make out somewhere else!” He groaned, watching as Jimin pulled away from Jade, evidence of her lipstick smeared across his mouth.
“Sorry sir.” His voice was hushed as if he was out of breath, still trying to collect himself as he fought off his stiffening length, desperate not to let her see how bothered she caused him to be.
Jade adjusted her dress, her lips swollen from their impromptu make out session as Hoseok simply motioned for them to get a move on. She glanced down, acting embarrassed as she wiped the rouge lipstick from the corner of her mouth, refusing to admit how great of a kisser Jimin was.
She simply made her way back over the velvet rope, walking down the stairs and making a beeline towards the ladies room. She needed to compose herself, flustered that every time the boys were around, she ended up making out with one of them.
Once she managed to get inside the bathroom, she paused to lean against the sink counter, glancing at her reflection in the mirror. Her lips were still swollen from the kiss, gently grabbing a paper towel. She helplessly swiped the fabric over the entirety of her mouth, watching as the pigment transferred onto the sheet, leaving her lips looking bare. Her cheeks were completely flushed, her blood boiling with desire after such a spontaneous display of passion. While it might have been all for show, it didn’t take away the fact that Jimin was too damn amazing with his mouth.
—
“Okay, we’re in. The system will reset itself in thirty minutes.” Emmy heard in her earpiece as she twirled in Jungkook’s arms. She glanced over towards Ruby and noticed her teammate giving her an expectant look as Hoseok walked away from the main area of the venue. She knew the clock was ticking and needed to get rid of Jungkook to do her part.
From their encounter earlier, it was clear that the pair were similar in many ways, and she had an idea that might work if her assumption was correct. “I hope you know you’re not gonna win this time.” She reminded him, flashing him a false flirtatious smile as her voice dropped an octave.
He only smirked in retaliation, “I wouldn’t be so sure. My boys are probably tag teaming your little hacker as we speak.”
She pulled back, glaring as the embarrassing memory of Jade falling for his comrade’s charms flashed in her mind. “She wouldn’t just sleep with some guy.” Jade wasn’t the type, but yet, found herself the victim of their seductive ploy in a moment of weakness.
“That’s not how I remember it.” Jungkook clicked his tongue with amusement.
She seized her moment, turning in his arms and brushing her ass against his groin as his hands found home on her hips. She could feel the zipper of his slacks probing against her plump flesh with his member growing from the friction. She leaned against his chest, peering over her shoulder as she asked, “Is that a weapon in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?” Her tone was overly flirtatious and teasing as she continued swirling her hips over his pelvis.
“Why don’t you frisk me and find out, baby girl?” He breathed in her ear, watching with hooded eyes as she twirled back around and cupped his semi erect penis with her hand. He groaned from her abrupt touch, wanting nothing more than to drag her into another room and lock the door behind them so he could have his way with her.
She hummed in thought as she caressed his impressive dick through the front of his pants, concealing her touch from the others in the room to the best of her ability. She leaned in as a smirk crawled over her lips, “I think that pocket pistol you’re carrying is only shooting blanks.”
She giggled as his eyes flashed angrily at her, knowing she had him caught in her web and now she just had to sink her fangs into him. “What’s that supposed to mean?” He hissed, leaning close to her face, their noses practically brushing.
“Oh, you know. It’s all just for show, but you can’t actually use it. Not to mention…” She brought her hand up creating a small space between her pointer finger and thumb. “…small.” Obviously, the size was a blatant lie, but if he had the gall to call her assets flat then it was only fair to take a shot at his ego.
Her words worked like a charm as he pulled her flush against him so she could properly feel him for all that he had to offer; his teeth clenched as he glared down at her. “Does that feel small to you?” He challenged, feeling his blood boil with dominance. His resolve was only held together by a thread.
“Doesn’t matter how big it is if you can’t pleasure a woman.” She stated, disregarding his need for validation just as he did with her.
Jungkook held her face in his hands, fixing her with a stare that burned with the same heat as a torch. “I’ll fucking show you.” He smacked his lips to hers, determined to have her begging for him by the end of the kiss.
Emmy was startled by his rough affection but relaxed as his tongue sought the seam of her lips to prove his power over her. He needed to show her he was in control and the only way he knew how was to seduce her with his mouth. Let the show begin. She thought as she pushed him back with her palms on his chest with a dramatic gasp. While his mind processed that he was no longer kissing her, she swiftly slapped his cheek with her gloved hand. “How dare you!” She screamed, pulling away from his grasp while he touched the tender flesh of his face.
His eyebrows furrowed seeing a scanalized look over her features as if she wasn’t egging him to kiss the life out of her. “Help! He tried to force himself on me!” She cried out, looking at the people around her with fear in her eyes.
He stepped forward, but she yelped and moved back as some other guests stood in front of her in defense of her honor. Jungkook straightened himself, smiling at the individuals that created a barricaded between himself and Emmy. “Wait, I think there’s been a misunderstanding.” He tried to laugh off the situation, but Emmy began hysterically crying.
“He said he had a gun and was trying to threaten me!” Juyeon had come up to her, causing her to throw her arms around his shoulders. “Oh, thank goodness!” Jungkook watched Juyeon protectively take her in his arms and felt his jaw become tight as she put the spotlight on him.
Hoseok moved in front of the crowd, wasting no time to apprehend Jungkook with his strong grip. “Hey, wait! I don’t have a gun!” Hoseok didn’t listen to anything Jungkook had to say as he tackled him to the ground and tied his hands behind his back. Jungkook fought against the marble floor as Hoseok sat on his spine, watching as Emmy left the room with tears running down her face. She paused just a moment, glancing back at Jungkook with a wink before proceeding to head upstairs in search of the diamond. “Fucking bitch.” He muttered under his breath.
Taehyung watched the whole scene from the bar and noticed Emmy slipping past the crowd to get away from the man who harassed her, sneaking up the staircase with determined steps. She looked over her shoulder, making sure no one followed until she disappeared behind a wall. Taehyung ran his tongue over his teeth as he smirked. “My turn…” He downed his drink, moving past the crowd as he stole glances of Jungkook being escorted out of the venue by Jennie’s bodyguard.
—
Emmy felt pride dripping from her pores as she took a moment away from the extravagant scene, she had orchestrated downstairs. While Juyeon assumed she was gone to the bathroom to compose herself, she walked upstairs undetected, not realizing that Taehyung was hot on her trail after the complete spectacle she made of his younger partner in crime.
Emmy took a few moments to compose herself before sneaking off into the back hallways of the estate. Based on Jade’s research and the blueprint designs of the building, she knew she needed to go towards the west wing to find a room specially built as an in-home vault. Given that Jade deactivated the security system, all that remained for Emmy to do was to crack it open, snag their targeted prize, and get the hell out of there.
While Emmy made use of the technology that Jade slipped into her purse to crack the safe, Taehyung was one the prowl seeking out the dramatic brunette that managed to best their star player. His steps were quick and powerful, determination seeping from his persona as he snuck past the commotion to follow after the natural born actress.
As he quickly ascended the stairs, his hand latched around the tie fastened around his neck, tugging on the fabric to loosen the constriction around his neck. He passed his tongue over his bottom lip, his eyes squinted in intensity as he observed his surroundings.
From the Foyer, Ruby glanced up to see Taehyung following after their youngest, knowing that Emmy had successfully managed to detain one of the threats to their scheme. She chugged the remainder of her champagne, turning her attention back to a frazzled Jennie who still couldn’t grasp the events that just unfolded in her home. Ruby only hoped Jade was distracting Jimin long enough to give Emmy her best chance, knowing that she’d soon encounter another roadblock as Taehyung took his shot at derailing their mission.
Emmy had her ear pressed against the bulky metal door of the vaulted room, hearing a series of clicks as the microchip she planted inside the control panel hacked the system to relay the correct series of numbers. She finally heard a loud thud against the door, glancing down to press down on the handle, smiling brightly as the lever latch opened. Her hands were gloved to avoid leaving any evidence of her presence, already indulging in thoughts of all the things she could purchase with the money from this score.
“Hell yeah!” She grinned proudly, tugging open the heavy material to reveal a small room with crimson velvet walls displaying a variety of pillars with prized possessions and collectible pieces of jewelry and artwork. To think the vault only held the most expensive pieces in the house, all the items in the space surely valued a ridiculous amount of money.
Her blue eyes scanned the surroundings, finally landing on a lavish black satin box that displayed the rose toned diamond beautifully against the dark hues. She wasted no time, taking the crystallized material and stuffing it into her clutch. She felt the haze of greed cloud her judgment as she glanced around the safe, wanting nothing more than to steal a few extra priceless treasures to bank.
Unfortunately, her mind wandered back to the memory of Jungkook pressed against her recalling that they weren’t the only ones looking for the exorbitantly priced diamond. She lifted her hand to her lips, trailing the pads of her fingertips against her plush bottom lip as she recalled the heat shared between herself and Jungkook. Despite how much she hated the way he interfered with her plans and the way he messed with her head, she had to admit that his kiss left an impression.
She shook herself off her thoughts as she stepped back out of the large vault, shutting it closed behind her as she tugged her gloves off to stuff them into her clutch. She glanced down at her bag, trying to think of a more conspicuous place to hide her score as she heard the soft patter of footsteps approaching the vicinity of her location.
Taehyung finally managed to catch up with Emmy, turning the corner to spot the brunette adjusting the skirt of her dress as she looked up with an expression of terror. She’d been caught red handed, knowing fully that he wouldn’t let her leave without making sure she didn’t have the object of their attention.
Taehyung’s lips stretched as an arrogant smirk painted itself onto his features, crossing his arms against his torso as he leaned seductively in the doorway of the small hallway leading to the room of the vault. His intense stare pinned her against a metaphorical wall as he devoured the sight of her figure draped in the black silk of her gown. Damn. Now he understood why Jungkook decided to take a more hands on approach with the youngest of the women. Taehyung hoped he would be blessed with the same opportunity.
He dropped his arms as he began clapping his hands in a slow, methodical pattern, inching closer to the brunette as he took long strides towards her. “What a show! Who knew you were so theatrical?” He teased, his smirk only widening as her face morphed into irritation. “You deserve an Oscar.” He added, watching as she stepped forward with an obnoxious amount of confidence.
“Get out of my way. You’re wasting your time.” She spoke plainly, her face morphing into a completely unenthusiastic expression. “The vault was empty.” She added, moving to push past him, feeling his hand latch onto her waist as he rotated their bodies to trap her against the wall and his body.
Taehyung leaned forward, his face hovering inches above hers as he chewed his bottom lip, loving the rosy color that invaded her pale complexion. “You and I both know that vault wasn’t empty.” He whispered in her ear, leaning forward so that his breath was ghosting against the shell of her ear.
Despite her pink complexion, she didn’t react to his actions, making sure to remain calm as the undeniably handsome man invaded her personal space. What was it with these three? Why did they need to look like they stepped out of a Prada men’s catalog?
“Try me.” She hissed, snapping open her clutch to show the empty confinements as she slammed it back shut. “See? Nothing.” She desperately attempted to conceal her emotions, knowing the only way she’d be able to fool him was by keeping a straight face and not allowing her body to react in obvious ways. “So get the fuck out of my way.”
Taehyung shook his head in amusement, his chuckle echoing in her eardrums as he dropped the arms caging her in before pressing against her abdomen to push her body against the wall. “Fiesty, I like it.” He teased as he brought his hand up to grab her chin and tilt her head up to ensnare her in his heated glare. “Nice try, Sweetheart. I’m not stupid.”
He moved his hand up her torso ever so slightly, his eyes blatantly falling onto her wonderfully exposed cleavage. “How do I know you’re not hiding the diamond beneath that incredibly sexy dress of yours?” He tucked his bottom lip into his teeth, wanting to run his hands along her giving frame.
She watched him carefully, rolling her eyes at how ludicrous he was with his mannerisms, knowing he’d likely leave her alone if she showed him that she had nothing to hide. She held up her hands in defense, looking at him with a gleam of innocence twinkling in her eyes. “Be my guest.”
Taehyung practically growled at her invitation, his hands sliding up her sides as his hands massaged the flesh of her body. He rubbed the palms of his hands up to cup the two perky mounds concealed behind the daring plunge neckline of her gown, squeezing them gently as he checked for any signs of the diamond being tucked away in the intimate area.
Emmy gasped at the invasion, feeling herself stiffen as his fingers inspected every curve of her breasts before dropping his hands to glide down the front of her stomach. He crouched down, starting his hand from the bottom of her ankles to slide up her legs and thighs, rotating his hands so that his palms massaged the junction between her legs. She bit back a moan as she felt him cup her heat with nothing but the thin layer of her panties and silk of her dress keeping out the warmth of his touch.
“Satisfied?” She grit between her teeth only to watch him straighten back up to gesture with his pointer finger for her to turn around. Emmy rolled her eyes, sighing in exasperation as she rotated herself to face the wall, pressing her hands against the structure as she spread her legs open.
Taehyung hummed happily as his eyes devoured the sight of her ass, making quick work to run his palms down her back until cupping her cheeks between his large hands. “Dang…you’ve got an ass.” Emmy clicked her tongue as she felt his hands running all over her body, thankful that at least this asshole didn’t dare say her assets were flat.
“Are we done here?” She spoke again, turning around to face him once more. Taehyung felt up every concealed part of her body, not finding a single hint of the location of the diamond. Was she telling the truth? He glanced her over once again, noticing that her hair was tied back into a bun to expose the skin of her neck and decolletage.
“Check upstairs.” The voice of Hoseok traveled through the second story of the building as Emmy and Taehyung glanced at each other with an expression of concern.
Emmy collected herself, quickly moving to find a path of escape as she glanced back at Taehyung who had split up in a different direction. She didn’t have the time to worry about anything else other than getting the hell out of there before she would end up spending the evening in a jail cell. She tapped her ear piece gently as she turned the corner, ready to get her girls and make a run for it. “Let’s blow this popsicle stand.”
—
Back at their hotel, the girls recovered from their evening of socializing and deception as they each stripped themselves of the evening's stress. Ruby was already out of her gown, a plush bathrobe replacing the fabric as it hugged her naked body, concealing it from the others. Jade was melting away her makeup as she used a variety of makeup wipes to stroke off the evidence of pigment from her skin, eager to be rid of it.
Emmy was sitting by the vanity, her legs crossed as she removed the expensive jewelry from her neck and ears. She noticed Ruby crossing the length of the suite as she allowed herself to plop down onto the bed.
“This is fucked up.” She groaned, allowing the cold duvet to surround her limbs as she thought about their plans being spoiled once again by the band of jackasses. “I can’t believe they got in our way again.”
Jade huffed in defeat as she angrily tossed the fabric of her makeup wipe into the trash can. “They’re fucking annoying.” She groaned in unison with Ruby, glancing over at Emmy who was equally irritated by the events of the evening.
The youngest twisted herself in the seat, turning to face the older girls as she began taking off the dramatic makeup enhancing her features. “Hey, at least you’re not the one that got felt up.” She huffed as she dragged the makeup remover across her pale complexion. A few more swipes had her face clean of residue as she turned to face the mirror once again. Jade and Ruby glanced at each other, giggling slightly at the misfortune of their youngest as she always seemed to end up being sexualized one way or the other.
“I had to make out with one of them.” Jade admitted, Ruby’s eyes growing wide as she glanced over to the brains of the group.
She raised a brow, “Which one?” She asked, slightly amused at the interactions the others seemed to always have when it came to the troublesome three.
“Listen, we don’t talk about it.” She moaned, moving into the bathroom to slip off her gown.
Emmy laughed as she moved her attention to the bun in her hair, unwrapping the long strands from the hair tie. “It’s a good thing men only see women as sexual objects.” She beamed, revealing a glimmer of pink as the atmosphere in the room seemed to dramatically change. “He was too focused on my ass to think about checking my hair.” Emmy’s features dripped in pride as her fingers latched around the diamond, displaying it for the girls to witness.
Ruby instantly sat up from her seat, her eyes sparkling with joy as the reality of their victory dawned on her. “Shut up.”
Jade immediately emerged from the bathroom, her hands clung around her torso as a towel covered her indecency. “You little punk!” She hollered, their annoyance morphing into jubilation as Emmy gently waved the diamond back and forth.
“Boys are stupid, remember?” She beamed, smiling proudly as her partners in crime surrounded her to admire the object that would soon bring them an immense amount of wealth. She grinned before turning to hide the diamond away in her makeup bag, thankful for her quick thinking.
“You’re a fucking genius, Emmy!” Ruby playfully smacked her shoulder before turning her attention to the phone nestled on the counter of their suite. “This calls for some booze.”
“Ooo, and some cheesecake!” Emmy added, craving a sweet treat to help celebrate their triumph as Jade scattered to take a shower before the trio would commemorate a job well done.

I dreamt last night that Billy and Steve were both hospitalized after the event at Starcourt
Steve in Urgent Care, being watched closely by the government to ensure that the Russians hasn't fitted him with any odd devices like maybe a tracker or some kind of mind control chip, and of course to ensure that whatever drug he was on earlier doesn't have any serious side effects, but he's fine, really, and this is all too annoying to deal with, he just wants five minutes alone
Billy is in the ICU, barely alive, rarely awake, drifting in and out of consciousness, doctors and machines everywhere, some people in lab coats followed closely by big guards. It would be so easy for this to be the end of him; he could just give up now and drift away, finally a way out that isn't really his fault in the end, so maybe he can go out like a hero, being remembered for having saved El and Max and everyone else in the world practically
But then he sees Steve, dressed in his own hospital gown, hair a limp mess, face bloodied, but... smiling. Billy can't talk, can't smile, for he's got a tube going down his throat, hair shaved off and an ugly scar where the scientists and doctors got a good look at his brain to see the after effects of having been “mind flayed”, whatever the fuck that means, and his entire body aches near constantly - the morphine doing a shit job
Steve mumbles something about just wanting to see how he’s doing, talks about himself too, how he’s fine and just wants to go home, but they’re keeping him here because it’s easier to keep an eye on him that way, and Steve might not be as dumb as Billy thought once
And Steve sits down on a chair he’s pulled up next to Billy’s bed, and turns on the tv
They watch Jeopardy together, at 3am, Steve getting almost all the answers wrong as he guesses along, and Billy wants to laugh, but doesn’t feel like he’s physically capable of even that
The next day Steve shows up again three times; breakfast, lunch, dinner. Sometimes he talks, sometimes he just eats in silence, but Billy doesn’t really care either way, he’s just happy he’s not alone
Steve mentions that Max really wants to visit, but she’s not allowed to, some big brutes in suits stand guard and keeps everyone away. Neither of them really know why they allow Steve to visit, but they’re not going to complain about it
Sometimes Steve shows up at night, turns on the tv and leans against Billy’s bed. He looks exhausted, bags heavy under his eyes, no glow to his usually somewhat cheery expressions, and Billy wants to ask what’s wrong, but the tube remains in the way, and neither of them talk
Eventually Steve falls asleep, head on his arms that rest crossed near Billy’s legs. And he doesn’t wake up till a nurse at 5am asks him kindly to go back to his own room and get some rest there
After about two weeks, give or take, Billy can’t tell time anymore, Steve shows up in a set of fresh clothes that Dustin and his mom brought, because he’s being discharged from the Hospital, and promises to come visit as often as he can, but he’s not allowed to drive yet after… everything that has happened, but he will be back
And he visits several times a week at first, Billy never doubted it, but as Steve returns to the real world out there, he shows up less and less. Every time he does visit he apologises profusely, and talks about his “normal life” and how everything is - how everyone is doing, and he asks Billy how he’s doing, but all he can do is nod
Not that he’d tell the truth if he could
The day comes when Billy finally gets the tube removed, and although he hasn’t spoken in nearly two months, hoarsely he asks for them to call for Steve and have him come visit
And Steve smiles big when he sees Billy doing the same, which is an odd experience for the both of them, because whatever hatred they had for each other got knocked down a notch when Billy sacrificed himself, and through the last month or so it has almost grown to friendship
After that Steve visits far more regularly, always with food that definitely isn’t a part of a healthy diet, but it tastes fucking amazing compared to the hospital food
They talk and talk and laugh, watch tv, read magazines, eat. Steve tried to get Billy to play some board games with him but hell no he’s not doing that. It all almost feels normal
What could have been- what should have been
When Billy starts physical therapy, he feels his self hatred amp it up by a thousand, because he used to be strong, be the fucking King around Hawkins, but months of being hospitalised and sewn together and only getting up to shower has made him nearly dwindle away
His tan has started to fade, muscles weak and useless, everything just feels sore constantly, and most movement of the legs feel dull and weirdly impossible, and as he has thought so many times during this process, he should have just died. They should have let him
But… Steve’s there, here, always present, shows up for every session he has with the physical therapist without fail. And Steve’s no less stronger than he was before all of this happened; he supports all of Billy without as much as a trembling muscle, and Billy hates him for it, yet he also… loves him for it, and perhaps that’s scarier than anything else that has happened this year
Or ever
Steve’s present too on the days Billy sees a psychiatrist, not that he wants to see one because he’s not insane or mentally disturbed or- he just doesn’t need help, doesn’t want help really, doesn’t want to be seen as weak, or weaker than he obviously is
But Steve explains that he’s seeing a shrink, too, and shares without restraint his own meetings, as they sit and eat junk food on Billy’s bed after his latest appointment, and honestly Billy doesn’t feel as pathetic or weak when Steve talks about going through the same thing, kinda
Time passes, Steve visits near daily, which is weird because doesn’t he have a job at the video store now? He sometimes talks about that girl Robin, but even half a year later nothing has happened between them, and Billy is oddly relieved at that
He’s come to terms with his unrequited feelings for Steve, feelings that he now knows he’s had from the moment he saw him in that parking lot, what feels like ten years ago now. All that anger came from wanting what he couldn’t have, and now it has simmered down to sadness, depressed to know that one day Steve will find a lucky girl and then Billy will become a second choice, or probably a third if he has to fight Robin for Steve’s attention, too… maybe fourth, what with Dustin and the gang
And he truly believes he can live with that, even if it does make him want to cry, which he rarely did before, but everything has changed now
He’s changed
For the better or worse, he can't quite tell, but now he can make Steve smile and laugh, so he can convince himself it's all for the better
Eventually, after almost a year in therapy and being basically a test subject, he's released on two conditions
1, he has to stay in Hawkins, no leaving it unless escorted by assigned guards
2, he has to "voluntarily" show up two times a week for tests and check ups
And there's a moment where he doesn't want to leave
Not because of those two conditions, because that'd be better than being hospitalised for the rest of your life, right?
But because he's not sure where his life is going, where his place is in this world anymore
Neil won't take him back, but even if that was an actual option, he'd have chosen the uncomfortable hospital bed instead
He can't go back to school, or rather he's not allowed to, and he can't go back to being a lifeguard, not with all these scars and a general inability to fucking swim
At least here at the hospital he's got some semblance of purpose in life, although it isn't much of a way to live
When he mentions it to Steve he's depressed, downtrodden, completely and utterly destroyed, because there's no place for him anymore anywhere, he'll forever be caught in the limbo of Hawkins
But Steve- he… He places his hand on top of Billy's, warm and soft and grounding, and as he smiles so softly, so lovingly, he says "There's a place for you in my life"
And suddenly nothing else matters than that, than there, here, in Steve's life
In Steve's hand

The Met Gala Best Dressed of the Decade
Just because there won’t be a Met Gala this year doesn't mean we can’t celebrate the occasion with style. Join me as I head into the archives of fashion’s favourite night of the year.
1. Doutzen Kroes in Zac Posen, 2010
The then Victoria’s Secret Angel and her American fairy godfather, in the form of Zac Posen, created Cinderella inspired magic for the Met. The pastel blue hue of the gown, heavily bodied tulle skirt and her Hollywood curls made for a timeless aesthetic.
American Woman: Fashioning a National Identity.
2. Gisele Bundchen in Alexander McQueen, 2011
The supermodel naturally opted for a McQueen design, one from his Fall 2005 collection. Gisele obtained her natural makeup and blonde beachy waves for the occasion but amped up her aesthetic with the dress’ dramatic tumbling train for the desired effect.
Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty.
3. Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in Burberry, 2012
Rosie opted for a chic chignon hairstyle that showcased her enviable cheekbones. Her dark smoky eyes were representative of Prada’s Fall 2012 beauty look whilst her stripe print replicated a classic Schiaparelli silhouette.
Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations.
4. Anne Hathaway in Valentino, 2013
The actress transformed her pixie cut to platinum blonde for the occasion and opted naturally for a black mesh gown to resemble the punk theme. Add on feathered sleeves and risqué cut-outs and the result is grunge meets couture.
Punk: Chaos To Couture Costume Institute Gala.
5. Kendall Jenner in Topshop, 2014
For her debut to the gala, the model embodied timeless old school glamour. You only need to search the name ‘Charles James’ and see that this champagne creation was utterly inspired by his fine designs.
Charles James: Beyond Fashion.
6. Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in Atelier Versace, 2015
Giving a nod to the Asian infusion of theme, her asymmetric, nude and swirling panelled dress contoured her body perfectly. Her sweeping up-do and deep berry red lip was the perfect addition to the elegant ensemble.
China: Through the Looking Glass.
7. Bella Hadid in Givenchy, 2016
The theme explored the future of fashion and Bella’s unique gown was certainly an eye-catch of the evening. The strapless design and thigh split tied together red carpet glamour with a futuristic feel thanks to her rings and the dress’ train.
Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology.
8. Gigi Hadid in Tommy Hilfiger, 2017
The asymmetric tulle and satin dress paired with the contrasting fishnet stockings made for the most stand-out and style-infused look of the evening. Marrying together her bespoke look with her glam, her hairstyle reflected the Japanese theme.
Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between.
9. Kim Kardashian in Versace, 2018
The term ‘Heavenly bodies’ certainly applied to the shape-wear mogul on the night. Her corset dress carved her curves to perfection. Her 90s inspired glam and cross embellished gown served the desired nostalgic feel.
Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination.
10. Hailey Bieber in Alexander Wang, 2019
As a vision in candy pink, a Barbie-esque Hailey captured the essence of the evening with a contemporary twist. The exaggerated accessories, logoed G-string and saccharine palette were the epitome of camp.
Camp: Notes on Fashion.

The new cross-body bags you have to have now
Here, three reasons why camera bags ought to be your new go-to tote.
One: They sport a square shaped outline (ICYMI, box bags are the It pieces for F/W '19).
youtube
Two: They have adequate space to store every one of your possessions without being too cumbersome like a spacious sack.
Three: Unlike grips, they keep your hands free.
Look through for our top picks for this adaptable style, in addition to certain tips on how you can wear them.
1. Calfskin, $258, KATE SPADE.
Try not to be a square: Camera bags don't need to consistently be elongated and unbending. This Kate Spade number has a marginally bended outline, which gives it a gentler intrigue. Amp up the silliness with a white broderie anglaise dress.
2. Cowhide, US$1,820 (S$2,509.14), FENDI AT NET-A-PORTER.
This handbag sports the maison's famous FF logo that was presented by Karl Lagerfeld in 1965. It looks best with a great camel overcoat, however a dress suit works as well.
3. RAFFIA, $2,370, SAINT LAURENT.
We've recently discovered our optimal occasion bag. The dark and naked upper makes this piece so flexible – it looks similarly as great with a dark two-piece group for the sea shore as it does with a happy summer dress for an easygoing informal breakfast.
4. Cowhide, US$1,290 (S$1,778.46), GUCCI.
Brandishing the Italian maison's notorious Marmont logo invigorated by current inventive chief Alessandro Michele, the GG Marmont camera tote flaunts a strong shading that will look extraordinary with a basic white tee and denim pants combo.
This Burberry bag has a specific present day meets-vintage offer. Its equestrian itemizing and checkered upper looks incredible when worn with anything pastel.
6. GRAINED LEATHER, $1,570, BALENCIAGA.
This bag is made for feline sweethearts, in addition to the shading just intensifies its adorableness. It's not exactly work suitable, yet it's unquestionably extraordinary for a considerable length of time, particularly when combined with an approximately secured white shirt and denim shorts.
7. CROC-EMBOSSED LEATHER, US$1,989 (S$2,742.69), TOM FORD AT NET-A-PORTER.
Dark bags are a storeroom staple. For a different take however, get one that plays with surface, similar to this Tom Ford croc-decorated infant. The best part: It goes with all the fixings.
8. Cowhide, $619, COACH AT FARFETCH.
Its London-punk-meets-Japanese-Lolita tasteful is best supplemented with a silly white gown and cowhide biker coat.
9. NYLON, $650, MCM.
Not every person can pull off the utilitarian pattern and camo prints, however when it's as a bag, all you have to do is glitz it up with a stylish A-line dress and dark siphons.

Where is the last place you had a kiss? My girlfriend’s couch. I normally wouldn’t kiss her inside her house but we were alone, so it just happened. What did you eat for breakfast yesterday? I skipped breakfast yesterday and went straight to having a macchiato, which was a horrible idea considering I had a badddd hangover. My body made me pay for it soon enough when my stomach started unusually heating up, so I bought a sandwich by around lunch to help it feel better. When was the last time you were at an amusement park? 2013. I don’t like amusement parks so when my friends make plans I don’t go along with them. Two weeks ago I was at a school fair which kinda has the same amenities as an amusement park, but I guess it’s not the real thing so it doesn’t count. When was the last time you cried out of physical pain? Last Wednesday. My friend Leigh was trying to demonstrate for me the concept of just-noticeable difference by pinching the skin on my hand. I don’t like feeling pain anywhere on my body, so when she started amping up her pinching I had to yell out. Have you ever done anything to Support the Troops? No. Can’t relate.
Do you donate blood? Nooooo no nope. I just said I didn’t like feeling discomfort on any part of my body hahaha and getting pricked is the worst sensation for me. I wouldn’t be able to donate blood even if I wanted to either – as far as I know you have to be of a certain weight to be qualified, and I’ve never met that requirement. Are you wearing two shirts? No. It’s never too cold to be wearing two shirts here. The only time I had to really do this in a local sense was in Sagada. That weather was b r u t a l. It was the first time my dad turned on the heater in our car and I didn’t even know Filipino cars came with heaters lmaaaaaaao. This was a very long way of saying no. Have you ever owned the socks with toes on them? Never have. What were you the last time you went trick or treating? I went as my best friend at the time, Sofie. I didn’t have time (and wasn’t as extroverted as I am now) to come up with a detailed costume, so I went as her – black dress, eyebags, winged eyeliner, and thick hair that was never combed. It had the least effort of all my friends’ costumes, but I got the most compliments on social media lol. What's your favorite morning activity? I am so not a morning person, and I just like sleeping/lying in whenever I can. Can you cook? I am hopeless in that department. Is there a lot of laundry in your hamper? No. My mom’s laundry day is Friday, so it’s basically empty the whole weekend. When do you think you'll have children? In a little less than a decade, honestly. I’m pretty firm in my decision to have kids; it’s my biggest dream if anything. I mean I’m also willing to wait until I’m in my 30s because god knows how expensive everything is rapidly getting these days, but I just know I’ll end up having kids one way or another. Can you point out constellations in the night sky? No. The only thing I can safely point out for you is Orion’s Belt, and that’s because it’s essentially a giveaway lmao. What was your favorite part about studying ancient Greeks and Romans? Nothing. It’s one of my least favorite topics. The only thing that got me to enjoy them for a brief period was the Percy Jackson series, but when I finished the books my interest in that world waned fast. Have you ever eaten a gyro? Nah, but close enough – I’ve had shawarma. What's your favorite flavor of Tootsie pops? Mmmm not really a fan of Tootsie Pops, or like candy in general. What's the last thing you bought at a mall? If I remember correctly, I got a toasted siopao in Coffee Bean. Where did your mom go to high school? She went to Colegio de Santa Rosa in Makati. What's a subject you would never major in? Philosophy. My college curriculum required me to take one Philosophy elective, and not only was it the worst experience ever, but I got my second-lowest mark in college from that class. Is there someone who you can turn to for money and not be ashamed? No. I hate asking for money, even from my parents. When's the last time you took a bubble bath? A little over a year ago, probs. I love bubble baths when I manage to get settled in one, but because I’m usually in a hurry when I take showers, the concept of staying and relaxing in a bathtub is a little weird to me so I never do it haha. Have you ever swam in a river? I have photos of me when I was 1, my mom, her sisters-in-law, and their kids (my cousins) swimming in some river. Are there any dirty clothes underneathe your bed? No. I know I could be messy, but that’s just disgusting. What food do you love the smell of while it's cooking? Curry. What food do you hate the smell of uncooked? I just hate the smell of wasabi in general. Your #2--what's their occupation? Your #3--what color are their eyes? Your #1--what cartoon character would they be? Your #4--are they allergic to anything? All Myspace questions that I’m skipping, lmao. Has a bee ever stung you? No. That’s like one of my top 3 fears so I never allow myself to be near bees or wasps. If there’s any nearby I run the fuckkkkk away. Where did you last go camping? I have never been camping for real. In what month do you start Christmas shopping? Last year I had some stuff ordered by early November – but those were gifts for just my girlfriend. I bought everyone else’s gifts like a week before Christmas. Have you ever slept in a bed with someone with bad BO? I’m sure I have; I just don’t let it bother me because no one’s breath is supposed to smell great in the morning lmao. Do you have a favorite flavor at Baskin Robbins? I have never had Baskin Robbins and I dunno if I will, because it’s just so expensive. Philippine suppliers looove bringing foreign brands like Shake Shack and Baskin Robbins over here and slapping insanely high prices on them just so they’re seen as high-end lmao, it’s sad. Are there fast food wrappers/cups in your car? No not at the moment. If anything there are old receipts. Do you read the newspaper? Very seldom, but given that I’m a journalism student, I encounter newspapers a lot because they’re everywhere in the college. What search engine do you use? Google. Have you ever posted a question on Yahoo questions? Nope. But the website is useful and I just look for people asking the same question I have at the moment. Have you ever been on a dating website? I made a Tinder account a few years ago just to observe it and just for fun. I never needed it but I was curious, so I joined it but I used a fake name and a photo of a cat I saw in school as my profile picture so that no one knew who it was. Have you ever had a crush on a celebrity of the same sex? Save for CM Punk, I’ve only ever had crushes on female celebrities. What kind of flowers would you plant in your garden? I dunno, I’ve never felt interested in growing flowers...or a garden, in general. Would you rather have a flat tire or overheated car? Flat tire. As far as I know that can be fixed a little more easily than a completely overheated car. What's the safest form of transportation? Private car, lmao. That’s really your safest bet in this country. Do you believe that kids should be taught abstinence? They can be taught about it so they’re aware of what it means and asks of them, but kids should also be reminded that at the end of the day it’s an option that they can choose to take or not. When's the next time you'll go to the grocery store? I only ever go when my dad is home because he likes having us along, so maybe in a month or two. When's the last time you went to Chuck E. Cheese? Never. What's your favorite cheese or cheese flavored food? Mozzarella sticks. Do you like black licorice? It’s decent, at best. I won’t spit it out, but it’s not my first candy of choice either. Can you count to 100 in another language? Two, Filipino and Spanish. We use Spanish when referring to currency, so that’s why it’s easy to memorize. Like I’d say I have labing-limang (fifteen in Filipino) notebooks, but when I have to say fifteen pesos, we say it as kinse (fifteen in Spanish). Idk, it’s a weird quirk with Filipinos but yeah. What's the nearest thing to you that can bounce? I don’t think there is anything bouncy in the living room at the moment. Do you hate cleaning? If I have to do it I get lazy. But when I actually want to clean, it can be relaxing. Do you clear dishes in the garbage disposal or in the garbage can? My mom takes out the garbage. Do you watch anything on the E! network? I don’t think our cable comes with E! so the only times I get to encounter it is when we’re staying over at hotels. I like having Keeping Up With the Kardashians on when we do have that channel. Have you ever tried out or thought of trying out for American Idol? I loved the show during its peak days, but I never had the desire to join it. Where's your car keys? Upstairs, on my bedside drawer. Did you keep any momentos of high school dances? From my high school ball, yes. I still have my old gown, photos with Mike, the instrument he used to ask me to ball (a Starbucks cup with the proposal written on it by the barista), and my old corsage. I like keeping stuff like that around so that I don’t forget, not because I still like him lmao. My prom could fuck off, and I have nothing from that night. Do you still have clothes from your high school dances? I have no idea. My high school prom dress disappeared after a while, but I still have my ball gown. The last person you laid in bed with said... I don’t know what you’re referring to but our last conversation was her telling me to drive home safe. Can you touch your nose with your tongue? I can’t. Which celebrities would you want to hang out with at a bbq? The Friends cast. Do you think you could do better drawings than Napolean Dynamite? I have never seen the movie. What are you doing on Superbowl Sunday? Isn’t it over already? I saw my aunts and uncles post about it on Facebook so I’m pretty sure it’s over. Anyway, I don’t care for football. Ever been to the original 13 colonies? No. Have you ever been to a concert that got out of control? Not really. The most ‘rebellious’ thing that ever happened was at my One Direction concert. The organizers made the stupid decision of holding the show on FLAT concert grounds and not a stadium, for a concert that probably held 10,000-20,000 people. Can you imagine holding that on just the GROUND??? Anyway, my sister and I had the third best tickets which was supposed to bring us to the semi-front, but it turned out to be so far from the stage. Everyone from my section all the way to the back resorted to standing up on the monobloc chairs which really isn’t allowed, but duh it’s One Direction and we wanted to see them. Harry had to call us out and ask us to get down from the chairs and just stand on the ground for our safety, but we kept protesting until they just gave up and continued the show. What's the last thing you watched on tv? Titanic, but we watched it on Netflix. I haven’t seen cable TV in a whiiiiiiile.
Whose show should be cancelled? 13 Reasons Why. Do you like Lindsay Lohan as a blonde? It doesn’t bother me. When's the last time you ate fruit? Last Friday I tried some of Laurice’s green mango with bagoong. Can you jump rope double dutch? Nope. I know jump rope but I never went that far.

From theory into practice..
I woke up in the morning of the 24th feeling quiet nervous and scared. It was going to be my first time setting foot at King Edward Hospital and working in an acute hospital. My mind was everywhere, I was thinking of the different diagnosis I was going to see, how my supervisor was going to be like? was I going to be able to cope with the fast turn overs? Am I ready to treat? will my clients be willing to interact with me? Am I going to be able to help them feel a little better or worse? But as soon as I talked to my group, I then realized that I was not alone and that made me feel a bit better.
In the morning we had a meeting with our supervisor and she was briefing us on what she expects from us and practically walked us in pretty much EVERYTHING. It was like she gave us a month’s lecture in a few minutes which helped me feel a lot at ease as I had a picture in my mind of what I was expected to do.
I received 2 client’s, both females one with right CVA and the other one with right below the knee amputation. I went to see my CVA client as I was familiar with the diagnosis and with the AMP I would have to do a quick research on it. So I arrived at the ward and as soon as I saw my client it felt as though everything I had prepared just left my brain. I kept paging through my file with all my assessment forms and I forgot that the client was there. My supervisor arrived and I felt as though the situation got worse. I forgot the littlest things such as wearing gloves, not sitting on the bed, how to transfer the client from laying down to short sitting, which we had done on the Friday prior. My supervisor stepped in and helped me, but even though she did, in my heart I honestly thought I had failed myself, how was the client going to trust me after that and what will my supervisor’s first impression of me be like? I started with assessing my client’s tone which according to Pat, “is the amount of resistance to passive movement of the part, in other words to stretch or elongate.” (Davies,1985,p.87). This was easily done and my client score a 2 for elbow flexion. I screened ROM and noticed that the client’s left side works properly and has full ROM but for her shoulder on the right hand side she started feeling pain in 100 degrees during flexion. She has no AROM of her right side. The MoCa helped in terms of showing the client’s cognition, she takes a while to process what is being said to her and ans her visuoperceptual skills are poor as she scored 1/10 in that section. It was my first time conducting the MoCa as at Hillcrest I conducted the Adenbrooke more.
For the AMP client who had surgery on the 15th of Feb, I was only able to spend 15mins with her as she had a visitor. During my assessment the client was very kind towards me, I was able to conduct ROM of the stump and which was 30 degrees for hip flexion. It was pretty cool for me to witness the movement because I have never seen it before. I was able to pick up that the client has poor static sitting endurance as she rushed me when I was measuring. In muscle strength of the left leg she scored a grade 4. I was able to find out that she has physio sessions and was able to stand for only 2mins using a standing frame.
For the 26th which was treatment day, I was feeling a little confident because I had spent the whole day and night on Tuesday planning the sessions, I was fortunate enough to receive help from my academic leader and my CP. But the nerves of treating for the first time were there and I did not want to repeat the same mistakes I had made on my first day.
For my CVA client, I conducted a upper body bathing activity as well as lotioning and dressing. I had planned to use the client’s clothes which I sadly had to find were not there but I decided on using her hospital gown. I was using occupation as a means and an end. As a means to correct her sitting posture and weight bear on her right UL. According to Pedretti, “Weight bearing through the hand and forearm with an extended elbow is a pattern used during ADLs and mobility tasks.” (Predretti, 2018, p.830). Occupation as an end because she did not know how to dress her affected upper limb.I prepared for the activity by using NDT principles, I used trunk activation movements and shoulder and elbow flexion and extension. My highlight was using the tapping on the triceps technique to achieve elbow flexion as it went perfectly on the first try. During the activity the client improved on her weight bearing techniques and she managed to finish the activity. I was happy with my handling skills and how I facilitated movements on the affected UL like we had practiced in class.
For my AMP client I had planned out a sandwich making and dish washing activity that was going to be conducting by the side of her bed. And a stump management educational session. Here I was using occupation as a means to improve her static sitting endurance from 3mins to 5mins. When speaking to my supervisor about it she made me realize that the activity was inappropriate as sandwich making is done in the kitchen and not the ward. So I ended up picking face washing. My supervisor advised me on exercising techniques I should focus on, which are to mobilize the stump and to implement desensitization techniques which I had read about in Pedretti. She advised me on how I should structure the environment so that she moves out of her base if support to improve her dynamic sitting balance. When I arrived at the ward the client had to be quickly ran into the bathroom as she had a runny stomach. When she came back I focused on stump management and care. I addressed her on phantom limb pain and explained to her why it occurred. The client was asking questions which I was able to answer as I had read about it on Pedretti. She told me that the MD team was planning on prescribing her a prosthetic. I then emphasized the importance of desensitization techniques and how OT’s can help with the shaping of the stump by bandaging and pressure garments.
Even though I was sad that I wasn’t able to proceed with the initial activity plan, I was happy with the way the day turned out. I was able to teach my CVA client to weight bear and dress and addressed my AMP client on her lack of knowledge on stump management.

Richard Quinn
Richard Quinn is a fashion designs specially his fw20 collection concluded of many pearls flowers embroidery and headpieces. his flower pieces have “exaggerated retina-vibrating schemes". The firsts two pieces reminded me of 18th century fashion with smock that had full sleeves early in the period and tight, elbow-length sleeves in the 1740s as the sleeves of the gown narrowed. but instead of being foot length they've been shortened. 18th century designs often show the arms and chest of the women. Quinn garments have fabric covering the whole body cons stenting of pearls or latex. Doing this adds his spin to the designs modernizes them whilst still having strong elements of 18th century fashion. the rest of the pictures the also have head coverings similarly to Pierre it allows the clothes to truly embody the person. I admire the clash of patterns and colours they add chaos to the garment that wouldn't bee seen in cloth from the renaissance or 18th century.
How I hope to further my research is to explore 18th century fashion myself and experiment with the figure of the clothing to see the possible results that I could come up with. The fusion of something classical vibrant and supplicated with latex bodysuit makes something forbidden that you wouldn't expect to go together this is also a part of experimentation I want to further explore. Pieces of clothing from the 18th century and 19th century or 21st century combined with one another to produce a garment that is nuance but historical like Quinn has done. These garments are targeted towards fashion explorative people that play around with fashion, celebrities red carpet events.

SPLITING HAIRS OVER SPLITTING BODIES
On a typical day of enduring the drudgery of professional pretense in my old workplace, I chanced upon a news item regarding acclaimed Filipino Film Director, Amable “Tikoy” Aguiluz’s aborted Manananggal Project for Hollywood. For reasons not entirely clear, the project fell through. In discussing the project’s failure to launch, Tikoy bemoaned not being able to shoot the opening scene he had already conjured. It was the Manananggal circling the Empire State Building on its way to hunting prey in the whole borough of Manhattan.
For those not in the in the know, the Manananggal, also known by its categorical name Aswang, is the stuff of Philippine goblin folklore; a creature that severs its torso from its other half (hence the label) and roams the moonlit skies hunting for nourishment. The creature usually dwells in the countryside and is believed to prey mostly on infanticipating women in their first semester. It lands on the roof of a Nipa Hut (a native shack made of indigenous materials, chief of which is Bamboo and Nipa leaves), and there slips its long forked tongue through the cracks or slats and carves out the fetus of its unsuspecting victim. If there are no preggy moms to feast on, it makes do with its usual staple of human liver (raw and bloody, natch).
I’m not sure if it was Aguiluz’s failed attempt to put the Manananggal on the global cinematic map that got me started on my own Manananggal fauxibility. One thing for sure, the image of the creature roaming and scouring for human cuisine in a highly urbanized setting such as New York city brought me back to my childhood haunts.
In the early 70s, a tabloid report exploded about a Manananggal sowing terror in the metro. As if to amp-up the scare factor, the article went on to talk about reported victims, albeit anonymous, and the public was advised to take necessary precautions. As asinine and preposterous as that news might sound today, there were some adults who were not quick to junk it as hokum (pretty much like the Trumpbeciles who still believe their Il Douche won the election). I chanced upon some conversations in my neighborhood, where men in their early 20s babbled about spiking a lei of garlic on their window frames as a surefire measure to make them impervious to the Manananggal’s assaults while they slept (just like vampires, the Manananggal is averse to the scent of garlic). Others bragged about their augmented arsenal of salt, ready to do damage in case the Mananggal’s abandoned half showed up somewhere (as per folklore, vast amounts of sodium spread on the creature’s abandoned trunk would inhibit it from grafting its torso back leading to its demise).
These guys were not being facetious. Most believed that the creature was not just some figment of a twisted reporter or old wives’ imagination. Some based the veracity of its existence on hearsay that the creature walked amongst us in broad daylight. They transacted business; they rode public utility vehicles; they could even act as a Good Samaritan, lending a hand to someone who might need it in the street. No one would suspect that this wolf in sheep’s skin sitting or standing next to him could be coming after him or his pregnant wife that same evening. If you were sharp enough, this was how you could spot an Aswang amongst the crowd. No ridge or groove ran across its upper lip, making that portion beneath its nose as smooth as a grazed plain.
My mom was among those who scoffed at that news. My impressionable mind though would not agree and she had her own stories to blame for why I ignored my throbbing bladder in the middle of the night just to avoid gazing at the bedroom window where the creature could just pop up.
As a young girl growing up in the province, she too, heard rumors about the Manananggal preying on their community. Those stories naturally stuck with her on those nights she was asked to run errands like fetch water in remote places. (Why her mother chose her to be the designated runner and not her three other siblings could be attributed to middle-child syndrome which deserves another story on its own. My grandma reckoned that if the creature was coming after her children, it was her third child that should be on top of the pecking order).
On those errands, my mom might have picked up some disturbing noises along the way. However, the spooky sounds failed to put a face or figure to it that would have easily brought the fear of the creature in her. Sure, she might have felt goosey at some point but she resolved not to be subdued by fear. Instead, she looked for something lethal to defend herself. She then dared whatever was lurking in the dark to show up, ready to sling it with the hard object in her hand while pelting it with colorful language that should never come out of a kid’s mouth. The creature never showed its face. Apparently, it was averse not just to garlic and sodium but to feisty little girls with salty language. After that, she was possibly more predisposed to believe Santa slipping through the cracks of their thatched roof than the Manananggal landing on it.
She had another story though about her older brother with a not-so similar experience. While on his walk home, he sensed somebody tailing him and saw a woman in a flowing white gown with eyes as dead as the night. He scampered off, paused, bent forward, and peered between his legs, perhaps based on what he heard was a preventive measure to keep the hell hound of his tail. What he saw next was just that; the woman had turned into a black dog snarling at him. He scurried off without looking back. The dog/woman obviously didn’t give chase as he managed to reach home unscathed. As to why, go figure.
With those memories in mind, my own little Toy Truck process got me going. As I was plowing on, it became clear that I wanted to avoid the trap of another Spook-and-Shock-Them tale. There’s just way too much of that already in those clunky and campy Tagalog flicks. What I was gunning for, much like Coppola did for the mob genre, was fashion my Manananggal story into a family saga like The Godfather (or at least come within proximity of that).
What came of it was Jebediah Magtanggal and his tale “The Honorable Magtanggals”, the second installment of the trilogy “Heroic Fauxibilities”. Following the thematic thread that binds all three books, Jebediah is an ordinary guy thrust into extraordinary circumstances. An orphan left under a tree and adopted by a poor childless couple, Jebediah doesn’t discover his otherworldly feral nature until the age of five. When he makes his first kill, he is beset with guilt. After that, he resolves to live by the moral code to only hunt those that deserve to be chewed out of this world.
If there’s a Yin there has to be Yang, right? The Yang in this case is his own family with whom he enjoins to live by his code. However, in due time, his family wages a mutiny led by his wife. Under her influence, their children stray from their raison d’ etre by using their condemned abilities not just for nourishment but to feed a much baser instinct, that is, to use that power to subvert both the powerful and the powerless.
Of all my babies so far, this book proved the most difficult to get in shape, despite how easily it commenced. Even when the book was ready to go to print, I was doing last minute revisions and rewrites. I wanted to insert as many why’s and wherefores while still leaving lots of room for the imagination to speculate about certain things. The time it took me to do that almost proved costly. The final version of the book almost never made it to print, partly due to my failure to advise the publisher that I was still tinkering with the manuscript. But all’s well that ends well and what eventually emerged is the story of Jebediah that I found gratifying to tell.
Did I achieve my intentions? I would like you be the judge of that. Here’s hoping you can check out my book available on Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/Fauxibilities-Heroic-Honorable-Magtanggals/dp/1952894433/ref=sr_1_2?crid=2MUW4P631VSMN&dchild=1&keywords=the+honorable+magtanggals&qid=1607562252&sprefix=the+honorable+magtang%2Caps%2C390&sr=8-2) and Barnes and Noble (https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/the-fauxibilities-series-natzee-ab/1137630280?ean=9781952894435). Diwali Look #2- Invigorating gowns
Ditch the conventional theme and flaunt a more modern look with long dresses and gowns. This would be the perfect outfit for women of all ages. If you want to lend your look a formal touch, go for gowns with beautiful embroideries and elegant embellishments. Such dresses are convenient-to-wear and are flawless for celebrations and Diwali dinners. It would be best if you paired your shift with a delicate pair of infinite charm earrings, or a dual heart pendant by Avtaara would also suit to complete the look for pujas and various other rituals. The slightly Indian touch of this outfit will improve its appeal and render it the ideal Indian Diwali outfit. For those who want to keep things plain, they should ditch embroideries and embellishments and go for ethnic patterns.
Diwali Look #3- Always a statement skirt and crop tops
Want to keep it traditional yet in a quirky way? Go for a pair of skirt and crop top, to bring up the jazz, make it monochrome like a peacock blue or the midnight black. This festival dress is ideal for those who want to add a western tone to a traditional style. Typically, the top and the skirt fit great in these styles of garments. But you can also get it tailored the way you want. A simple bright coloured top with a highly embellished skirt, a simple top and a skirt in different colours, or an intricately tailored blouse with a simple skirt are some of the types to choose from. Among many other Indian festival dresses, this one is very trendy among teenagers. After the dressing comes the part for the jewellery; with this merge, go for a poetic pair of earrings for a simply chic look, or you want to amp up your game, wear a solitaire station necklace, a beautiful blooming flower diamond ring, and earrings by Avtaara to complete this Diwali look.

♡ summary: Since long ago the seven kingdoms of Lentavia have worked together as one, sharing their resources and prospering because of it. Each kingdom has its own prince, each a beautiful man who rules fairly, caring for their people and distributing their resources amongst the kingdoms. The seven of them are much like brothers, having grown up together in their joint castles that sit in the middle of the island. They are free to rule as they please and do what they wish, as long as it is harmonious within the kingdoms. They must, however, follow one rule. The smile you received from Seokjin when you accepted his proposal was the brightest you’d ever seen. He had giddily walked you to one of the rooms in the castle, then bid you goodnight. The room was huge, bigger than your cottage itself. A huge beautiful bed with silken black and gold sheets, a wardrobe, a desk and chair, all made with beautiful dark wood. You’d never been in such an extravagant room, you wandered around it touching the smooth furniture. There was a bathroom attached with a large tub in it, various nice smelling liquids set along the side. You looked at yourself in the mirror and wondered how you had ended up here.
Settling down on the bed you realized all of your things were still at the cabin including a change of clothes to sleep in. You sighed, you had a tendency to rush into things without planning and now you were dealing with the consequence of one of those decisions. A knock on your door startled you from your thoughts. “Miss L/N? His Majesty Seokjin has sent me with some sleepwear for you.” You smiled, he was such a considerate person, to even have recognized the problem you had gotten yourself into. Opening the door, you accepted the clothes and thanked the servant for bringing them to you. Slipping off the dress you were wearing, you folded it and put it on the box at the end of the bed. You put the simple white nightgown on and climbed into the big bed, snuggling into the soft sheets and giving in to sleep.
~
You woke up just before the sun began to peek over the horizon, as you did every morning, and went to the bathroom. After using the toilet and splashing some water on your face you returned to the room and put the dress from yesterday back on. Luckily you had a good memory as you were able to find your way out to the garden. You walked amongst the flowers, touching the leaves and petals with a delicate hand. The garden's energy was extremely pleasant, the plants were all well cared for and so they were happy.
It was strange to not be in your cottage practicing spells or tending to your own garden. Usually in the mornings you would go out to the forest to collect herbs or visit the creatures who lived there, but today you were exploring the castle gardens. You wondered what marrying the prince would actually entail. A wedding was probably a must, when would it happen? Did Seokjin expect you to sleep in the same room with him? You vetoed that thought, the prince hadn’t shown any intention of anything besides fixing both of your problems. What was going to happen to your cottage? You made a mental note to ask Seokjin about it when you saw him.
That was another thing, what did the princes even do all day? You had never really thought much about them, and only ever knew that they were handsome. There was a lot of mystery surrounding this whole world you had somehow stumbled into. You sighed, you would learn eventually you supposed. Luckily, you were a pretty good judge of character, and you always had your magic if something turned out bad. You trusted Seokjins kindness, and truth be told it was getting tiring to be constantly attacked by the townsfolk. They had been amping up the vandalism and verbal threats recently and you were afraid of what might happen if they went through with any.
You were always terrified of hurting other people with your magic, so you never used it against others. Even when you had been attacked a few months ago and they had been kicking you relentlessly, you refused to use magic in fear of injuring one of them. Instead, you let them get out there anger and then whipped up some healing balm to help with the pain once you’d made it back home. It had been terrifying and hurt a lot, but you knew you wouldn’t be able to live with yourself if you ever caused someone pain with your magic.
Continuing your garden stroll you hummed softly for the flowers, they always liked being given music. “Y/N!” The somewhat panicked shout startled you and you turned to find Seokjin running towards you. “Please don’t leave! If I or my brothers said something to offend you please tell me, I will fix it, just, just don’t leave.” You couldn’t contain your laughter as the prince stared at you, face full of confusion. “I’m not leaving, I’m just walking in the garden.” Relief washed over Seokjin’s handsome features. “Thank the Gods! I asked a maid to check on you and she said you were gone, and it was so early I assumed you must’ve snuck out to run away…” Seokjin admitted sheepishly, scratching his cheek.
You smiled, “I always rise with the sun, and I like to be with nature often, so I just figured I’d go for a little explorative stroll. I’d never just up and leave with no warning, I can assure you that.” The prince smiled back gratefully, “In that case, good morning to you, shall we get some breakfast then see about fetching your things?” You agreed and followed him back to the castle and up to the dining hall.
~
Once the two of you had eaten, Seokjin called for a carriage to take you both to your cottage. You stared at your hands sat in your lap during the short ride, pondering what you’d like to bring with you to the palace. As you neared your home the smell of ashes and smoke caught your attention. You poked your head out the window, worried about some kind of forest fire hurting the animals but instead you were faced with the burning remnants of your life. A cry tore its way out of your throat as you jumped out of the still moving carriage. Ignoring the harsh impact of the ground, you stood and ran towards the flaming cottage, ignoring the Prince’s call for you to stop.
Without an ounce of hesitation, you pushed through your door and into the smoke-filled room, wincing at the heat. The ash clung to your throat and burned your lungs and eyes, but you ignored it as you dashed to your bedroom. You pulled back at the sharp pain from the searing hot handle of your door, then steadied yourself and opened it regardless. Throwing things across the room, you began pulling things out from under your bed, desperate to find what you needed. A firey beam fell atop your bed, narrowly missing your crouched body, you wiped the pooling tears out of your eyes and snatched the bundle of cloth you’d been searching for.
Coughing heavily, you barely managed to throw yourself out the open door before the whole thing collapsed behind you into an inferno. Arms were suddenly around you, holding you tightly to someone’s chest as the carried you away from your home. You sobbed in the persons hold, clutching the bundle you’d risked everything for to your chest.
Next thing you knew you were sitting on a white cot whilst a gentle woman assessed your injuries. She tried to take the cloth from you but you just held it tighter against you, making her sigh. “I won’t take it anywhere, child. Let me make sure you’re alright? It’ll be right next to you hm?” Her kind words and soft eyes, convinced you as you slowly nodded and let her take it and put it beside you as she’d promised, before continuing her examination. She wrapped your burnt hand with some herbs and then a clean cloth. A damp cloth was used to wipe the ash and soot off of your body, then you were dressed in a simple golden brown striped gown atop a white frock . The kind woman who had been watching over you, Hejin, had then left but was quickly replaced by an extremely flustered and angry Seokjin.
“Y/N! Thank god you’re alright! How could you be so reckless? Nothing is worth losing your life over! We can replace anything, why would you run in there like that? You could have been seriously injured, or worse! Why would you do that?” You looked into his anxious brown eyes as your own grey ones began to water again. “What is it? Something hurts? I’ll get Hejiin again-” You placed your non-injured hand atop Jins, effectively stopping his tangent. Then you slowly unwrapped the cloth Hejin had set beside you. Inside it was a photo of a woman with big beautiful curls just like your own, her face a bright smile as she held a little girl with matching locks. “My mother…” You managed to say, voice hoarse from smoke inhalation.
A look of sad understanding fell across Seokjins features, and he pulled you into a gentle hug. “I’m sorry for yelling, I was just worried. I’m glad you’re alright.” He said softly, not breaking your embrace. You gripped the fabric of his shirt tightly and bit your lip in an attempt to not cry anymore. “It’s ok, I got her so it’s ok.” You whispered back to him. Reluctantly, the Prince released you and surveyed you with his eyes. “I’m so sorry Y/N.” You gave him a weak smile, “It isn’t your fault that I’m hated, and you weren’t the one to burn my home down.” Seokjin frowned, “But-” You held up your hand to stop him, “No buts, I am ok, I have what matters to me most and I will heal from my injuries.”
The Prince gave you a pointed look but dropped the topic, “I’ve asked Jimin to order some clothes for you, he knows lots about clothing.” You opened your mouth to protest but Seokjin stopped you this time, “No buts from you either, you’re my fiance so of course, I will provide for you.” He explained with a wink, making you smile for real. He offered his arm and took you out of what you assumed must be the infirmary wing, “Let’s get your Mother somewhere safe then.” When you two returned to your room a servant was waiting with a golden frame, which you gratefully accepted. You set the picture into the frame and then put it at your bedside, facing the window.
“She always loved to watch the sun rise and set. New beginnings and happy endings she’d say.” You smiled at the memory, running your hand along the frame gently. Seokjin crumpled his hand into a tight fist. He couldn’t believe people would do such horrible things to such a kind and warm person. He rarely got mad, but right now he was furious and hiding it as best he could for your sake. “Hejin said you should take it easy for a few days since you took in so much smoke, and your hand…” The prince trailed off. “Nonsense.” You said with a shake of your head, “I just need to go collect some herbs from the forest and then I’ll be right as rain.” Seokjin gave you a look of disbelief making you chuckle softly. “Witch, remember?” You said plainly, gesturing to yourself.
Seokjin blanched. He had, in fact, forgotten this bit of information, so wrapped up in your accept of his proposal and the morning’s events that it had slipped his mind completely. “Ah, right. Then I will accompany you to the forest later, but for now, you should have a small rest at least?” You couldn’t deny the sweet request and so you bid him farewell and laid atop the bed. You tried your best to have a nap as wicked flames licked at your dreams, turning them to nightmares in an instant.
