okay i know i wrote this ages ago but i need everyone to know that they absolutely get back together. i cannot stand for them not to.
so steve turns up for easter dinner, eyes still heavy from sobbing in the car though he made sure it wasn't noticeable to look at him even if he could still feel it. eddie isn't there. eddie isn't coming. he's in chicago playing a show.
steve is distracted all through dinner. all he can think about is that fucking song.
we've gotta make a decision, leave tonight or live and die this way
is this what he wants for himself? a life where he's too afraid to go further than indy? a life where he lets himself get left behind? a life without eddie?
and so steve does make a decision. he's meant to be staying at dustin's for the weekend, but he excuses himself after dinner, let's dustin know where he's going to which dustin responds, "go get him, steve."
he drives straight to chicago without stopping until he's pulling up outside the aragon. he parks on a side street and dips around to the back entrance, hoping he can sweet talk his way in since he doesn't have a ticket. the bouncer at the door gives him a skeptical once over, but asks for his name anyway.
"uh, steve, steve harrington," he says, disappointment already lodging in his chest. this guy doesn't seem like the type to cave to any kind of charm.
the bouncer looks down at his list, looks back up at steve like he's trying to figure him out...and then steps aside. "go on."
steve freezes. his name was on the list. his name was on the list? his stomach does a nervous little flip of elation. he remembers all those phone calls with eddie while he was out of state, asking steve to come. "your name's on the list," he'd say every time. steve wonders if he kept it there on purpose or if he just never bothered to take it off.
steve slips past the bouncer and he can hear the band now. the noisy guitars and frenetic drums and eddie. eddie's voice growling over familiar lyrics and steve nearly starts crying all over again.
he glances at his watch. it's nearly 2 am. this will be their final song. he makes his way to the green room and waits.
steve doesn't have to wait long, but it feels like an eternity. then the band is spilling into the green room, a riot of sweat and laughter and raised voices. eddie is literally bouncing, electric with the adrenaline of performing. and then he sees steve.
he stares at him for a long moment, eye wide and blinking like he isn't sure steve is real. he glances at gareth and jeff, who are likewise staring and they shrug. they don't know what he's doing there either, but they see him too.
"steve?" eddie says, just to be sure.
"hey, ed."
eddie breaks away from the rest of the guys and tugs steve into a corner of the room that's obscured by a rolling rack of clothes. the rest of the band tactfully ignores them.
"what are you doing here?" eddie asks.
steve shrugs, not because he doesn't know but because he's not sure how to explain himself.
"i missed you," steve says. which is true, but isn't quite the right answer. he's missed eddie every day since they broke up. "i don't...i don't want to do this anymore," he continues. "not without you."
eddie searches his face, eyes tightening and mouth drawing into a line like his heart is breaking all over again. "what do you mean?"
steve wants to kiss him. he stinks like sweat and leather and stale beer and steve wants to bury his face in his hair and breathe him in for all eternity. "i miss you," he repeats. "i love you. i want to try again. i want to come with you this time, when i can. i want to make it work. i can't...i can't lose you."
he's choking up now, his voice cracking over the final words.
"steve," eddie breathes, his expression shifting in a way that makes steve feel a little sick. like eddie hates what he's about to say. like he's about to let steve down gently.
"no," steve says. "no." he grabs at the front of the vest eddie is wearing, denim over his bare chest and the mottled demobat scars. "do you still love me?"
now eddie is the one who looks like he's about to cry.
"steve," he says.
"do you?"
eddie shuts his eyes and knocks their foreheads together. "of course i do, stevie."
"then i want to try again," he says. "i mean it. it'll be different this time. i promise. eddie, i promise." he swallows hard past the lump in his throat. "i don't want to live and die without you."
eddie opens his eyes, stares directly into steve's for a long moment, and then his hands come up to frame steve's face and he's kissing him. steve makes a broken noise in the back of his throat and surges forward, nearly unbalancing eddie in the process. but eddie pushes right back, pressing steve up against the wall as he kisses him and kisses him and kisses him.
"i love you," steve says again when they pause to catch their breath. "i'm sorry."
eddie buries his face in steve's neck, his breath hot and fast against steve's skin. "me too," he murmurs.
months later when steve and eddie are driving from indy to hawkins after the tour is over, 'fast car' comes on the radio and steve tells eddie that it was this song that made him come to chicago. eddie says he'll have to write tracy chapman a thank you letter, snags steve's hand and brings it to his mouth, kisses over his knuckles. steve's never been happier in his entire life.
can't stop thinking about the first time steve hears 'fast car' by tracy chapman, except in a version of things where he and eddie have dated and broken up.
they went pretty strong for about a year, but then eddie's band blew up and he was touring all the time and neither of them figured out how to deal with the distance. eddie wanted steve to come with him. steve never wanted to stray too far from hawkins in case the kids needed him. he and robin went as far as indianapolis, but any further and steve feels the panic closing in at the thought of being too far away if something were to go wrong again. eddie, on the other hand, thinks there is no amount distance he could put between himself and hawkins that would be too much.
it ends because of a blow out fight, though they make peace enough after the fact to insist they'll remain friends. it's only true insofar as they're civil when they inevitably see each other at holiday gatherings. dustin's hasn't quite given up on getting them back together.
it's one such holiday, easter 1988, when steve is driving back from indianapolis alone. robin is catching a ride back with vickie the next day. he doesn't even know if eddie's going to be there. he might be on the other side of the country for all he knows, but driving back to hawkins always makes him think of eddie these days. most things make him think of eddie.
'fast car' comes on the radio and steve turns it up, likes the catchy opening notes. the first verse twists something deep in his gut and by the end of the second, he's already starting to cry. when he gets to the chorus, a loud sob wrenches out of his chest.
he makes it to the second chorus before he has to pull over or risk crashing the car. he slams it into park and the song keeps playing and steve sits in the driver's seat and sobs.

After your encounter in the drama classroom, you spent every free night with Eddie. There were a few obstacles to work around, of course — school, cheer practice, your parents — but you made it work. Sneaking around was a challenge, but a part of you thrilled at keeping Eddie your dirty little secret.
Like the first night you spent together, you always went to his place. It was safer that way; word got around fast in Hawkins, and your neighborhood consisted almost entirely of busybodies.
So when you heard a tapping at your window one night, you thought it was just the rain. It was too harsh though, as if a few stray pellets of hail were hitting your window.
You crossed the room and looked out the window to find the source of the noise: Eddie tossing pebbles.
Panicked, you switched on your tape deck to drown out the sound and slid the window open as quietly as possible.
“What are you doing here?” you hissed, trying not to draw attention. It was later in the evening, but even under the cover of night Eddie Munson looked out of place here.
“I have come to see my Juliet,” he professed, grinning as he began to climb the trellis outside your bedroom window.
Huffing, you back away from the window so he could get in. He was surprisingly graceful, swooping in and landing lightly on the balls of his feet.
Looking rather pleased with his own poise, he straightened up and flipped his hair, shaking rainwater all over you in the process.
“Ugh!” you grumbled in annoyance. “You got my pajamas wet.”
“It’s just water, princess, it’ll dry.”
“Raindrops form around specks of dust, so it’s not ‘just water,’” you complained, turning to your dresser and rifling through for a clean set of pajamas.
He snorted with amusement. “This is why I like spending time with you. Sex and a science lesson!”
You glared back at Eddie, a snarky comment already on your tongue, when you realized he was drenched.
“How long have you been standing out there?”
“Not terribly long. It’s coming down pretty hard, though.”
“Well, you look and smell like a wet dog.”
You continued digging through the dresser and pulled out a pair of Hawkins basketball sweatpants. You tossed them to Eddie, who inspected them with disdain.
“Go team,” he chanted sarcastically, pantomiming a cheer routine.
Unimpressed, you tossed him the matching t-shirt.
“You’ll survive conforming for a few hours,” you assured him with mock pity. “If you’re going to stay, you need to change.”
“As my lady commands,” he replied, stripping off his vest, jacket, and Hellfire shirt.
Your breath caught in your throat at the sight of his bare torso in the low light. He must have seen the effect he had on you, because his movements became all the more deliberate after that.
Undoing the button and zipper on his jeans, he ceased undressing. You were momentarily disappointed until he took your hands in his and hooked your fingers through his belt loops.
Locking eyes with him, you slid the jeans down over the swell of his hips, lowering to a crouch as you dragged them down.
When you stood back up, you purposefully brushed your body against his. He jerked slightly when your chest grazed against the front of his boxers.
“Gotta get you out of those wet clothes,” he said softly, placing his hands on your hips and pulling your pelvis flush against his. “You’ll catch your death.”
Staring into your eyes, he undid each button down the front of your pajama top. Lowering his head, Eddie began kissing along your collarbone, tugging your pants down as he did. They pooled around your ankles and you stepped out of them.
You bit your lip self-consciously as his greedy eyes roved over your naked form. Reaching out, he skimmed the pad of his thumb along one nipple. A tremor went through you at his touch, and his eyes flicked up to meet yours.
Without breaking eye contact, he continued to tease the first nipple and lowered his mouth to the other.
Goosebumps formed on your skin from both arousal and the chill of the open window, but the heat of his breath and hands more than made up for it.
“You cold, beautiful?” Eddie murmured against your skin, sending a surge of excitement through your nerves.
You made a noise of affirmation, and he tsked compassionately.
“Poor thing,” he cooed. “I’ll just have to warm you up then.”
Taking you into his arms, he planted soft kisses along your jugular. He sucked sharply on your neck and you jerked back.
“No hickies,” you reminded him, trying and failing to sound firm. Your resolute stance was tempered by the blatant desire on his face.
“Oh, I’m sorry,” he hummed, sounding not very sorry at all. “Let me kiss it and make it better.”
His mouth returned to your neck, and his hot tongue soothed your aching skin.
“I couldn’t help it. You just taste so good,” he continued, breath tickling your already electrified flesh with each word. “And you look so pretty when I mark you.”
You whimpered as his words. Your fingers twisted into his curls of their own volition, while his own dropped between your legs and hovered just a few inches off your mound.
“Can I touch you, baby?” he requested, lips brushing against your ear. “I want to feel how wet you are for me.”
You nodded eagerly against his cheek. It wasn’t enough for him, though.
“Need you to say it, princess.”
“Please, Eddie,” you whined in a small voice, pulling your head back to look at him with imploring eyes.
“Please, what?” he prompted, unable to keep from teasing.
“Touch me,” you commanded, reaching a hand down and guiding his under the waistband of your underwear.
“Good girl,” he praised, and you trembled slightly at his words.
Noticing your reaction, he raised an intrigued brow. “You like it when I tell you what a good girl you are?”
He accentuated the words “good girl” with a swirl of one finger around your clit. Grasping his biceps to steady yourself, you nodded with hooded eyes.
“Yeah, you’re my good girl,” he moaned, easily spreading you open with two fingers while he worked your clit with his thumb. “You take me so well, sweetheart.”
You were too overwhelmed to reply, and so instead you buried your head into his shoulder and nodded against his bare skin.
“God, you’re so warm. So wet,” he growled into your ear, grazing his teeth against the outer shell and eliciting a buck of your hips. “Can’t wait to be inside you.”
It was too much to bear, and you stilled his hand with your own. Breathing heavily, you looked up at him.
“Need to feel you, Eds,” you breathed, eyes dropping to his full lips. “Need you inside me.”
Unable to help yourself, you surged forward and sucked on his bottom lip, getting a pleasured moan from him as your reward.
In a flash, he spun you around so your back was pressed to his chest. Eddie trailed a hand down between your breasts and down between your thighs.
“You need this, you need that,” he teased, smirking at your desperation. “So demanding.”
You twisted your head back to glare at him, but he took advantage of the position and captured his lips with your own. He reached up a hand and grasped your hair, yanking your head back so you could look at him.
“Don’t worry, princess,” he soothed you mockingly. “I’m gonna give you everything you want.”
Bending you over the bed, he slid your underwear down your legs as you propped yourself up on your forearms.
As he rose, you felt his tip graze your entrance and bit back a moan. Arrogant about the effect he had on you, Eddie chuckled and took hold of his cock, swirling the head around your clit.
“You look gorgeous like this, you know that?” he drawled, admiring your form. “Naked and needy and bent over for me.”
“Eddie,” you gritted out through clenched teeth. “Stop teasing.”
At your words, he pulled back, and you sighed in irritation at the loss of contact.
“Why, princess? You think you deserve it?”
“I know I do.”
“And why’s that?”
“Because,” you groaned, pushing your hips back against him, “I always get what I want.”
Huffing a laugh at your entitlement, he shoved into you with a swift thrust. A strangled noise escaped his mouth at the feeling of you squeezing around him.
“Shit, sweetheart, you feel fucking incredible,” he gasped, pushing as deep into you as he could until he bottomed out. “S’like the perfect fit.”
You were too busy trying to settle your breath to muster a response, but when he pulled out and jammed his hips back into yours you yelped loudly, clapping a hand over your mouth in fear that your family might have heard.
You both froze, listening for footsteps. When none came, you sighed in relief.
“Sorry about that, beautiful. I just can’t help myself when I’m around you.”
“Keep going,” you pleaded softly.
Not needing to be told twice, Eddie slid in and out of you slowly to minimize the noise. With each pump, he filled you up as much as possible to the point where each pull left you feeling hollow.
“God, look at you,” he marveled huskily. “You’re amazing. My good girl.”
Involuntarily, you clenched around him, making him groan. He tried to pick up the pace, but the sound of skin-on-skin was growing too loud and he had to slow back down.
“Eddie, stop,” you commanded softly.
He immediately pulled out, though when you turned around you could see the reluctance in his eyes.
“Sit down,” you whispered with an understanding smile, guiding him down onto the bed.
He returned your grin. “I thought you were done with me.”
“Not in the slightest,” you purred, straddling his hips and watching smugly as his eyes darkened with lust.
Reaching and hand down, you guided him back inside of you. With your hands on his chest to keep your balance, you began rolling your hips, grinding on top of him while filled with his cock.
Eddie could only stare up at you in awe, and he propped himself up on his forearms to get a better view.
“God, you look so fucking hot underneath me,” you murmured, smiling as you felt him twitch inside of you.
“Make yourself feel good,” he panted, anticipatory excitement in his eyes. “Use me to make yourself cum.”
With a sharp breath, you nodded, grinding against him again and again. You threw your head back, gasping each time he hit that sensitive spot inside you.
“Just like that, baby,” he cooed. “Cum on my cock.”
Despite the chill of the room, your body was on fire, and each stroke of pleasure made your movements sloppier.
Seeing this, Eddie grabbed your hips and helped you along, moving your hips for you so you could just focus on the feeling.
And God, what a feeling it was.
The combination of his cock inside you and the pressure on your clit with each roll of your hips was like paradise, and you could feel the tension building in your body as you chased your release.
You breath was coming out in short, laborious bursts as you grew closer to the edge. Eddie alternated between whispering praise and the filthiest fucking words you’d ever heard, digging his fingers into your hips to keep you upright. His cold rings practically sizzled against the heat of your skin.
“Eddie,” you whined as you rutted desperately against him. “I’m so close, I’m so fucking close.”
“I know, baby, I can feel you,” he soothed, his own resolve nearing its breaking point. “Let yourself go, sweetheart. Be a good girl and come for me.”
Whimpering, you threw all your strength into riding him, your thighs clenching against his hips as you got yourself off.
With one final grind, the dam burst and the area between your thighs flooded as you came crashing down and dragged Eddie over the edge with you. Hot jets of cum filled you up, and you couldn’t differentiate his wetness from your own.
You collapsed forward into Eddie, and he caught you with strong arms as you trembled through your release.
“You were so good, sweetheart. So good for me,” he praised, pressing soft kisses along your jawline.
You both laid there for a few minutes with Eddie still inside you as you both recovered.
As you continued to shiver, he grabbed the throw blanket from the foot of your bed and wrapped it around you, trapping your body heat. Gently, he guided you off his lap and stood up, walking over to the window.
“Don’t leave,” you said suddenly, surprisingly the both of you. You felt your cheeks heat up and stammered, “I- I mean you don’t have to leave right now, it’s pouring.”
Eddie cocked a brow in amusement. “I was just getting up to close the window since you were shivering.”
“Oh,” you muttered, trying to hide your embarrassment.
Clearly entertained by how flustered you were, Eddie continued to rib you.
“Did you really think I was about to climb out the window buck naked?”
“Shut up, Munson.”
“I didn’t realize how badly you wanted me to stay. Your sense went completely out the window!”
“You’re about to go out the window too if you don’t stop.” You tried to scowl, but the corners of your mouth tugged up into a smile against your will.
“C’mere, jerk,” you ordered with a begrudging grin, opening up the blanket to him.
Beaming, Eddie practically skipped back over to the bed and into your cocoon. Slinging an arm around your shoulders, he pulled you down against the pillows with him.
“I’ll just stay til it stops raining and then get out of your hair,” he promised softly.
You were quiet for a moment before saying, “You can stay over tonight. If you want, that is.”
Eddie’s heart jumped in his chest at the offer, and he wondered if you could hear it. Swallowing and trying to appear unaffected, he nodded wordlessly.
“Okay.”
He nestled closer into you, and you tried to shove down the butterflies in your stomach as you fell asleep in each other’s arms.

Excuse a little thing !!! Could you make a mini summary of what happened before eddie came to the forest to surprise 🤭. Like how beverly convinced eddie to go, where eddie was or how richie planned everything, confessing it to his friends ... You understand me?? 🤔 Thank you!! one of the best fan arts of richie and eddie 🤗🤗❤️ (you don't need to draw it) or I leave you free to do whatever you want 😉
yes for sure!! there are certain things i don’t want to get into too specifically bc i would like to extend this au into a fic, and some of that would be covered there, as well as certain things may get revealed in the storyboard, but i’ll give u a summary of things that aren’t too incredibly spoilery, many of which i’ve told folks in livestreams already on IG etc.
beverly has had her eye on eddie for awhile. she feels a special bond with him due to circumstances that i can’t explain without spoiling the fic too much, but she essentially knows things about him that she shouldn’t know and therefore empathized with him in a way that he is honestly creeped out by. he is convinced that she is being a stalker or at the very least up to no good, and he is struggling with bullying at school, so he doesn’t assume positive intent and does not trust her. after her struggling with him getting to open up to her and that going nowhere, she decides to try from a different angle. she targets richie instead, figuring she can play matchmaker. both richie and eddie have some misogynistic tendencies that are irritating to her, but she muscles through because she still cares about them. richie also doesn’t really trust bev at this point, but he at least acknowledges her in insults and teasing and calls her molly ringwald vs eddie who just tries to shut her down. she ropes ben in bc she feels like he can be trusted, she has figured out he will do just about anything for her, and richie will see ben as less of a threat to open up to vs someone like bill or stan where there are too many years of history of friendship on the line. she and ben meet up with richie to form a plan. (also she is able to be there even tho she’s not living there bc her school doesn’t have summer vacation but has long breaks during the school year instead so her aunt is cool and takes her to derry to see her friends.) they plan for richie to ask eddie to the dance in the woods, but he keeps fucking it up trying to ask, and it’s because he’s so nervous because eddie is clearly in a downer mood. a lot is going on with eddie. he is being bullied at school. his birthday just came and went and he normally gets a vhs from his dad posthumously each year, and that didn’t happen this year. he’s just having a really hard time. so the little team has to pivot. bev tells ben “ok plan b, u guys gotta tell everyone to go stag. that way eddie will get all dressed up to go, and i’ll do the heavy lifting of getting him to actually come out to the woods. you guys just gotta ASK him since i’m not at your school right now.” and so at lunch time, richie is supposed to ask while he’s at the group’s lunch table, but he’s too chicken shit bc he just witnessed eddie getting bullied before they sat down to eat and he knows how upset eddie is. so ben stops making eyebrows at richie to do it and jumps in and saves the day. he tells everyone what they should do. stan is like “... ehhhh. i guess, if we all go...” and bill is in, and ben is in, and eddie is silent. and eddie is like “i’m not really in the mood for going to a dance.” and ben is shooting darts at richie like “FUCKIN SAY SOMETHING!!” and richie stops choking and says “i’m gonna go! come on, we will all go together. this is my first dance too; we should have our first dance be together.” and eddie is like “...ok” and is a little hopeful about it. but everyone agrees it’s dumb bc it’s the sadie hawkins dance, but they do it anyway. so eddie, the more he thinks about it, the more he starts to get excited about it. he picks himself out an outfit that he’s really excited about and he’s starting to have optimistic expectations. and then his mom “accidentally” shrinks ALL of his formal wear at the dry cleaners. “oh no eddie bear, guess u can’t go.” and all eddie is left with that sort of resembles formal wear is his old boy scouts uniform. so he dons that, takes off the vest, and pairs it with some suspenders bc go figure all his bow ties and ties are gone too. so yeah, they really are short shorts. then he sneaks out his window and shows up to the dance, where stan immediately snorts at his appearance. ok so, bill and bev are dancing (not stag). mike doesnt go to the school and doesn’t have a date to bring him there like bev did, so he’s not there. and ben and richie are MIA. so it’s just stan and eddie in a corner. and eddies like “where is everyone?!” and stan is like “WHAT AM I CHOPPED LIVER?!” >>>

March 28th - Day 6: “I won’t let you do this.” + angst @evanbuckleyweek
Hit Me with Your Best Shot, Fire Away
The team was bone tired. It had been a grueling first half of a 24 hour shift.
They were ready to nap if possible and get a small bite if they weren't too tired.
"Hen, how many kids were on that bus?" Buck asked while nursing a water bottle.
"Less than a dozen. Two future doctors and a nurse, one president, a couple of entrepreneurs, and two marines and a pilot." Hen smiled.
"Gotta love career day. Too bad none of them were gonna be joining us." Chim smirked laid out on the couch next to hen.
"Who knows, maybe one day they will. I didn't know I'd be here a few years ago. And I look forward to every day with y'all." Eddie smiled bumping buck's chair startling him and earning a glare back.
"That's good to hear Eddie. You've been a great addition to the 118." Bobby said while bringing over plates of food.
"Cap you spoil us." Buck laughed while digging in.
Bobby was just starting on his own plate when the alarm went off.
In seconds they were up and fully awake for the next situation as adrenaline pushed them on.
"Cap, what's the call about?" Eddie asked.
"Dispatch said it's a tinkerers junkyard."
"A what?" Buck asked.
"Something about a malfunctioning robot."
-
"What the hell is that?" Buck asked making a shocked face.
"Oh it's Barbra. She's my baby." The lady said while smiling with pride.
"And why did you make an automated crossbow turret again ma'am?" Eddie asked.
"Because I was bored and to keep them animals away from my reserves ." Melissa said with a shrug.
"Please help!" The person said.
"Alex we'll be with you in a bit. Stay calm and still where you are at." Bobby ordered while they asked and thought of what to do with Barbra.
"How did Alex get in without being shot?" He asked.
"Her night vision has been acting up. My guess is the thief there was trying to steal from my supplies before the morning light. I just found him after breakfast." Melissa said.
"And you haven't tried turning Barbra off?" Buck suggested.
"Oh gee. I hadn't thought of that. No, I gave her her own power supply in case of a power outage and her wireless connection is weak for range. I gotta be close enough to shut her off with my phone but her bolt is ready to fire at anything that's in her range though." Melissa explained.
"So. We gotta give her something to shoot at?" Eddie suggested.
"Yeah. But it's gotta be at least the size of a dog or a bear. I programmed her to only attack something big enough to be dangerous."
"Well that's great." Buck sighed and shook his head.
"Cap we don't have anything on us that could withstand a crossbow bolt do we?" Hen asked.
"Hmm." Bobby thought.
"Could a riot shield work. We could call athena and the police, or a bulletproof vest maybe two." Chim suggested.
"Ouch." Alex said drawing their attention.
"Alex, you okay?" Bobby asked along with Hen.
"I uh. I cut my hand."
"We can treat you after the police get here to help us out." Chim said.
"No. I'm hemophilic, please. Hurry!" Alex screamed.
Bucks and Hens eyes went wide as Eddie said "shit" and Bobby and chim said "no,".
"Guys, we're sitting in a junkyard. We can find something." Buck said while moving to get out of the blocked off shed they were in.
"Excuse you, recycling center for inventors." Melissa scoffed.
"Sorry ma'am!" He shouted back.
"Alright, let's move. Anything sturdy enough to work but light enough to carry." Bobby said while they moved to follow.
After a minute they had a sheet of metal from a broken roof.
"No. Too thin. Could go right through maybe," Chim said.
Another minute found both a manhole cover and a car door.
"Manhole cover's thicker. But a little heavier. It's our best shot." Eddie said while taking it to the entrance. "Melissa can I have your phone please. Open whatever we need."
"No! Eddie. I can't let you do this." Buck said grabbing his arm to hold him back.
"Buck, I've gotta get him out."
"But I'm faster." Buck shot back.
"You're still on the thinners though." Eddie countered.
"No. I'm not. I just got off them." Buck explained.
"Buck? Is that true?" Bobby asked, he knew buck had a checkup recently.
"I'm gonna draw it's fire. Follow in after me. Only get closer after I've got it to shoot." Buck said thinking about Alex's time passing by.
"Buck, remember it's got a hole, dead center," hen said.
"I know. I'll be careful. I'll try." Buck was already setting into a running stance.
"Melissa, how long does it take to reload?" Bobby asked.
"Umm. 5 to 7 seconds. I think."
"Okay. I'm gonna get it to fire. Ready Eddie?" Buck asked while holding the manhole cover up as a shield.
At Eddie's nod buck took a breath and started running at a steady pace.
Chim and Hen had their gear ready to follow once Eddie ensured it was neutralized.
Eddie ran as he saw it swivel back in buck's direction. Buck hoped that the others would forgive him for lying later but he had the least to lose and he knew he could do this. He had to, Alex's life was counting on him.
Just as it got a clear view of buck in its crosshairs a light indicator flashed red as it shot the bolt out.
The world slowed as buck brought it up to better cover him while being mindful of where the hole was located. Even if the bolt could go through it didn't hit him now.
It made contact and snapped in half from the force of the hit that buck felt push him back as Eddie was already near to Barbra.
With only a few seconds left Eddie brought the phone close enough to turn off Barbra. Her lights powering down.
The others quickly brought the backboard and set Alex down as Eddie grabbed the bolt that was to be loaded next and the spares ready to be used throwing them on the ground just in case.
Buck breathed a sigh of relief as he and Eddie let the others work making sure Barbra didn't disturb them by coming back online.
Back in the truck buck sensed the air change as Eddie sat down.
"Eddie."
"You lied didn't you?" He glared.
"I didn't have a choice. I couldn't let you risk your life and I was right, I am faster than you." Buck said with a frown.
"But what would we do if you got shot?"
"Treat both of us or call for a backup ambulance. I know what could have happened it was a calculated risk but it turned out okay. I'm sorry but I'd do it again. Christopher needs you Eddie." Buck was thankful Bobby was on radio with dispatch to check if there was another emergency for them to help as they were done.
"He needs you too. We need you buck. So you can't just risk your life like it's nothing. You're important."
"Well, I can't lie and promise I won't do anything like that again but I'll always try to do my best to come back in one piece. Who else has your back like I do Eddie." Buck smirked.
Eddie nodded. "Damn right."
Buck smiled back now as Bobby relayed their next stop, a fire.
Today was just getting started. No doubt by the end they'd be sore. But as long as buck had Eddie and the team beside him, he'd be good.
