My starbucks mug collection has become a travel and life journal of sorts— chronicling the places I’ve visited, and the friends who cared to remember to bring me an addition or two to my collection. I haven’t been collecting much of late, but whenever I see a Starbucks store in a place I’m visiting, I have to look. One day soon I will start featuring my Starbucks Mug Collection. Many of them have their own stories to tell. I want to be able to tell those stories before I forget. I have already lost some of them— but the stories will always be in my heart and mind. . . My nephew, @euroboy28 was coming to New York for a visit and was asking me what I wanted from Vienna. The mug that started #MyStarbucksMugCollection was not a city mug or a country mug.. it was a nondescript unbranded mug that came with a cookie gift set for Valentine's Day 2001. After the 14th, they split the mug from the cookies, so I got the mug on sale. It was my very first Starbucks mug in what is now an over 100 mug collection. (I have not been good cataloging, and life has made me set them aside for now.). I haven't bought a mug in a while, and many of these mugs have a story in themselves. Gifts from friends, or purchases from journeys taken a long time ago. Some were even sent by friends who were thousands of miles away. I have received some very special mugs the last couple of months so I thought it was about time I got down to writing about them. I keep a photo album in my Flickr account as #PinayNewYorker, but that hasn't been updated in ages.
