The year is 1998. Some pretty great anime aired that year, including Cowboy Bebop -- considered by many to be one of the greatest anime series of all time. But Bebop was also responsible for the founding of a brand new studio, one that would make a significant impact on the anime industry. That studio was Studio Bones, and the rest, as they say, is history.

In this video I’m going to explain what makes Bones stand out from every other animation studio in Japan and why they are still thriving after all this time!

(Alty from FMP blog here) !! Could I commission you for a translation of FMP!Family? :O Do you have info on rates or anything? And are photos or scans of the pages okay? Sorry for bombardment of questions!

Hey! So, a few things first: I am not a professional, just a hobbyist fan who originally started learning Japanese to translate DVMC and Gosick Red years ago (FMP fan forever and ever). Secondly, I have never translated on a commission basis, so I really don't know what is fair? Also, is there furigana, as that will determine how long it will take. Not that I will turn it down if there is no furigana, it will just take a little longer 😂. But yes, photos or scans should be just fine as long as I can request for clearer shots if I need them.

I am also recovering from major surgery, so it may be a week or two before I can really get to work. If all this is fine, let's chat a bit more!! I would love to do this.

26th place

26th place goes to character 87, aka Cordelia Gallo from Gosick!

Propaganda: Exiled from her village after being falsely accused of murdering the head of her village, she found her way to the main setting of the story and joined a dance troupe. She attracted the attention of a pair of red-haired twins who loved her and was set for a good life until she was kidnapped and forced to have the main antagonist child, after which she was thrown away into an asylum. She escaped from there with the twins, and began a life long quest to protect her daughter, knowing that her father wanted to use her to establish an iron grip over his country. She and her daughter are virtually identical, both being very petite with long blonde hair. She later uses this to her advantage to take her daughter's place so she can escape her father's grasp once and for all. She causes a riot and goes out in a blaze of glory, not only thwarting all of the antagonist's plans, but also taking his life. She can dual-wield knives and is incredibly smart. Also since the setting of the story is during World War Two, and the main antagonist allies himself with the Nazis, she does in fact, kill a Nazi. Good for her!

In round 1, poll #29, she got 60 votes out of 109, or 55%.

In round W1, poll #46, she took 24 votes out of 34, or 70.6%.

In round W2, poll #23, she took 14 votes out of 33, or 42.4%.

In round L5, poll #23, she had 20 votes out of 28, or 71.4%.

In round L6, poll #12, she won the bracket with 17 votes out of 32, or 53.1%.

In round L7, poll #12, she had 28 votes out of 41, or 68.3%.

Hello everyone!

My name is Krys and I’m an amateur translator. I’m a huge fan of Gosick, and when I decided to learn Japanese by translating, Gosick New Continent was the first project that popped into my head. I love Victorique and Kujo, so knowing how their story continues after the war has been on my mind for quite awhile. I finally managed to get my hands on a copy of Gosick Red, the first book in the sequel series, and figured I wasn’t the only one interested in more of our Charming Monster and the little rabbit who was her heart.

What you can expect from this blog: I’ll be posting the translation by chapter (or parts of chapter depending), though I’m still working out the details of how that will look. I’ll also post updates on how the translating is progressing (since this is my first time translating something like this, I can’t promise it will go quickly). 

As of now, the prologue is about a third of the way done and I’m hoping to have it finished and available by 9/6/2020.
