It was one of your best friends who was hanging out with the gang. Which, in and of itself wasn't a problem, even though she never told you anything about that, but what made you wary was the way she was so close to your boyfriend.

It was like she was glued to his side, always looking at him, hanging on every word he spoke. It set you off, but you also didn't want to start any drama, so you shoved those thoughts and feelings into the back of your mind as you approached the group.

Kuki was the first to notice you. She just nodded at you before nudging Itto in his side, apparently too hard for the male. He looked at her, complaining about her action, but Shinobu just nodded her head in your direction.

Confused, everyone followed her direction, now noticing your approaching form. You waved at everyone, but before you got a chance to say anything, a loud yell interrupted you.

You woke up a week after the break up, still unable to bring yourself to move out or remove the pictures of you and Gorou together. You didn't get much sleep, but occasionally you got a good hour in.

When you wake up, however, you see a group of soldiers from the sakoku tying you up, moving to drag you into the living room.

"What's happening?" You foolishly ask, not yet fully awake.

One of the soldiers crouches down, facing you as the others begin to go through the rooms, looking for items. See, someone had discovered you were dating the General of the opposing faction, and the soldiers saw that as a possible source of information. They devised a plan between each other to make you tell them any plans you knew of. If you didn't give information? Well, those pictures would be the first to be torn apart.

"Your sweet dog boyfriend is a topic of interest to us." The soldier explains. "See, he is against the Shogun's words. You need to help us with arresting him, as he is a very bad man."

Instead of indulging in any details, which you had none of, you simply stare at them. There was no way this was legal for them, surely they would have taken a more civilized approach if they were to question you. You also took note of the fact they didn't use his name, perhaps this was a trap for you to verify your boyfriend was Gorou.

"I'd speak up if I were you." A soldier pipes up, holding an anniversary gift you planned to give Gorou, him opening the letter and putting on an act as they read it out loud. "Aww, it would be a shame if you were to lose this gift."

The gift doesn't mean anything anymore, but you still tear up at the words. It hurts to realise that your relationship has ended, and you still haven't removed the gift. Hearing other people throw down the picture frames with your pictures grounded you to what was happening in the moment, and seeing the broken picture frames only made you feel even worse.

When they realise you still aren't talking at the havoc happening, they decide to trash the place even more. Finding anything that can cause noise or disrupt the tidiness of the rooms, they go to flip furniture and break any vases.

"What do we have here? I was just taking a stroll, and I hear the most...disruptive sounds from this house." You hear someone say, unfamiliar but clearly not with the group.

"Mind your business, detective." The soldier in front of you grumbles. "We're doing our part."

"Kujou Sara may not agree. " The man shrugs. "Plus, you are going much too fast to intimidation tactics."

"They aren't gonna sing unless we scare them." The soldier retorts, the man standing by the door raising a brow. The man looks over his shoulder, and he spots someone. Gesturing for the person to rush over, the man doesn't reply to the statement. "What, you gonna bring more soldiers? They'll just agree."

"Kujou Sara, I doubt you have authorised this behaviour." The man hums out, the soldiers suddenly standing up and clearly fearful of getting caught.

The man at the door escorts you out of the house, Kujou Sara patting you on the back and apologising before you hear the men become cowards, begging for forgiveness.

"I'm not telling you anything." You huff, the man laughing.

"it wasn't my intention, don't worry," The man states. "I'll take you to the station to get your statement."

The man, who you discover to be Shikanoin Heizou, makes sure to let you explain your situation. The conversation doesn't last all that long, given what little information you had to give, and Heizou informs you of something you were reluctant to do.

"I'll need to get you to Watatsumi Island." Heizou states, your face deflating. "You won't be safe here. At least in Watatsumi Island, you won't be targeted like this."

"But I was there a week ago! I was even escorted back, so why is it now I can't protect myself? I was with Gorou for ages!" You huff, crossing your arms.

Here you were, being escorted by the same guy to Her Excellency. Upon entering the room, you see her there with your ex. When you walk in, Gorous head shoots up. He rushed over, pulling you in as he mumbled thank yous to the archons for your safety. Kokomi informed him of the situation, and he was hopeful you'd be willing to talk about the problems with the relationship.

He knew he was distant due to the war, he hated himself for not disclosing anything but the integrity of his missions relied on it. It hurt him so bad when he found out you had the idea that he didn't love you anymore, and you didn't even want to see him, and to have you physically there helped him so much.

In the same way you couldn't sleep very well after your breakup, he couldn't sleep either. The bags under his eyes were not from his work, they were from him blaming himself for letting you feel neglected. When he found out your house had been broken into, the anonymous tip explaining some soldiers had intended on praying information from you about him, he couldn't stop fearing the possibility of something worse happening to you when you were heading to Watatsumi Island once again.

While Gorou couldn't stop working, he decided to take you along to catch up on what was happening once you could start working on the frontline. Even if you couldn't do anything, he would find some excuse for you to which Kokomi would agree.

Gorou was desperate to show you how much he thought about you during his time in the war, and in the future of this war, he only wishes you're willing to be there as well.

He paused in the middle of the sidewalk, gently tugging you to stop too and as you looked at him curiously, his cheeks flashed a dark red. He clearly wanted to say something, so you smiled at him patiently, giving him just the tiniest bit of comfort, exactly what he needed to say the words that were on his mind. "I always feel happy when we're together, it's like the second I see you...my day becomes perfect and all I want to do is make you smile...cause you to laugh because it's the most beautiful sound I've ever heard. Albedo is far better at picking up subtle cues than most people realize, and catches your downcast look in an instant. You had visited the alchemist in his frozen lab, with no real goal in mind, you just figured his presence would make you feel better. "(Name)? Are you alright?" His voice gently interrupted your meaningless babble, his gaze catching your own the moment you dared to look up at him. Your heart leapt into your throat, and it took an uncomfortable moment of silence before you could force your voice past it. "Yeah! I'm just... Ah.. " It was hard to lie to him, so you went with a very simplified truth. "I just... Really wanted your company," you finished. The blond gave a soft hum in response, finally looking back over towards his notes. After a second, Albedo looks back to you. "Come here then, you can help me sort these pages" Grateful he didn't press any further, you shuffled up to his side, and spent the rest of your day easily distracted from your troubles.

Cyno catches on with ease as well, based less on the subtle misery in your eyes and more on the significant lack of energy in your responses. You had bugged him to take you out on patrol, the two of you securing the camps that scholars had made in the desert. Usually, the space between you two was relaxed, and he was comfortable with it- telling bad jokes to welcome your teasing and advice- sometimes they were too hard to understand, after all. "What's wrong?" Tilting his head at you, amber eyes glowing in the setting sun. "Oh- um," his question came out of nowhere, and it left you scrambling for an answer that would simultaneously satisfy his curiosity, and not make you sound so pitiful you needed to be sent home immediately. "I was just...upset, something happened and I thought that working and spending time with you could help keep it off my mind for a little... It won't impact my fighting, promise!" Readjusting your nervous grip on your weapon, you could barely hear the desert howling over your heart thudding against your ribs. "Well, if you say so, but you know you can talk to me if you need to (name). After all," he lowered his head to emphasize his helmet, "I'm all ears."

Gorou could feel it on you the second you walked into the tent, that heavy cloud of sadness stuck to you, dragging you down as you tried to go about as usual. It was near torture sitting through the meeting, and as unprofessional as it was, he could barely pay attention to the strategy plan as he impatiently flicked his ears, desperate for the first second he would be able to ask you what was hurting you. A few huffed answers here and there, and the meeting was over and he could dart over to you and tug you to the side. "What happened (name), what's got you so upset?" He immediately grills you, hardly giving you time to adjust to his sudden closeness and his comforting grip on your hands. Even if he wasn't already keenly aware you were upset, it would've been impossible to lie to him, staring up at you like a lost puppy. "Well it's... I mean, it's nothing for you to worry about! I, um... I..." It took you a few seconds to gather your thoughts, eyes anxiously looking at anything but the man in front of you. "I'm... I'm not ready to talk about it yet but- I didn't want to wallow in it so I'm here... Please don't send me back home-" You hardly managed to finish the sentence with how immediately he wrapped himself around you, hidden muscles squeezing you tight for the briefest moment before pulling away in a blur. "It's ok! We'll step out and train for awhile, would that help?"

Kandake would notice when she came over to visit, quietly stepping through your entryway and finding you tucked into yourself on the couch with a faraway look in your eyes. Careful not to startle you, she made her way over and sat next to you before gently placing her hand on your knee, startling you into proper consciousness. "Oh Kandake! I- I'm sorry, I didn't hear you come in, please let me get you something to drink-" Your rush to stand up was halted by Kandakes hand, still on your knee but firm in its hold. Swallowing thickly, you eased yourself back onto the cushions, unable to look away from her dual colored gaze swimming with concern. "(Name), what's wrong? I've never seen you in such a state" she finally asks, brows furrowed and shifting to sit closer. "Nothing! I mean, I'm just- tired, yeah... Just tired." It was a pitiful excuse that obviously neither of you believed, but after a minute she relinquished her hold on you, thankfully not going to push any further. "Well, I'm not going to interrogate you, but I'm not going to leave you be, either. The winds are picking up outside, so I'll keep you company in here. How about we finish that story we started the other night, hm?"

Layla wouldn't notice on her own, but not for lack of trying. You step into her room and find her hunched at her desk, desperately rubbing one eye and writing with her other hand. You know she has a lot of work to catch up on, and you certainly didn't intend to make that task harder for her, but this aching pit inside you led straight to her. You quietly sat down on a spare chair, planning to make yourself get by with only her presence and not her attention. That didn't turn out very well though, because after a handful of minutes of staring down at the floor, her sleepy voice breaks the silence of the room. "(Name)? What are you doing here?" You snapped your head up, making eye contact with her as she gently tilted her head towards you. "Oh I was just- well I was- I hope I didn't bother you?" You winced at the inability to spit out a decent sentence, and watched as she took a second to yawn. "No, I can work while you're here, don't worry about that. Should I worry about you being here though?" It wasn't a harsh question by any means, but it made that pit in your stomach rocket into a spike of pain. "No! No not at all, I'll be okay! I can, I can go!" Stumbling in your rush to stand up, Layla called your name again, drawing your attention back to her. "You answered a question I didn't really ask there," you winced again, biting your lip, "but I'd prefer if you stayed. I'm almost done with this specific paper, afterwards we can talk if you'd like, or we can have a mutual nap!"
