Problems relevant to my audience:

I wanted to have a further think into what problems I feel are relevant to my audience but also interest me, two main ideas I have are:

The original issue of outdoor wear being expensive - it’s unattainable. They say buy one, wear forever, but how do you buy once in the first place? Action: get my audience to buy sustainable clothes by making it more accessible. I know of some solutions to this problem are Patagonias Worn Wear website and also any second hand website such as Vinted and depop. I have however found that they aren’t necessarily easily available e.g Patagonia is only in America and the other sites don’t necessarily aim at the outdoor category. I would like to create a platform that helps people source this is one spot, therefore streamlining the process of sourcing sustainable outdoor wear and gear.

Another problem I came up with is for surfers specifically and was inspired by Mark's reference from gopaddling. With going to new spots, or starting out as a beginner, it can be really hard to know what areas work for you, whether it be dependent on the rips, rocks, how the tide affects the waves there, how the swell builds there, what wind works best and how the locals are. This is an area of surfing that many people feel out of their depth with and is quite hard to find specific advice for certain spots online. There are some pre-existing wave forecast apps however I’m not sure how well they offer guidance or an explanation for how the conditions may work for that specific spot. I feel building an app that helps surfers with this would be extremely beneficial and will help people surf safely. This would fall more under the navigation prompt however I am really interested in this project idea and feel it tackles a problem with a direct solution. It also gives me the basis to focus in on my audience's hobby a bit more which could provide a better outcome as it will be more relevant and have more purpose. I think in order to create an informed decision on what project to develop I need to do some further research on the issues and how they may be being solved already.

Looking into Mark's reference as inspiration. GoPaddling tackles issues within their target audiences' sports well. I feel I need to create another brainstorm on problems within my own audience's hobbies and how this may influence my brief more. I really like how they specifically include maps for helping people find where to paddle and feel this could be a good starting point for applying to my audience. Although it may fall under navigation.

Credit to @justsmile_justtri : Today I finally got to try out my Christmas gift! When heat wave and a free Sunday afternoon come together, you go out to your local lake and try out your new paddle board! I started out great and almost made it to the island in the middle of the lake when the wind picked up and I wasn’t able to control the paddle anymore.... Panic Luckily my husband rescued me with his kayak and put me back on track I almost felt like giving up and going home, but I am glad I didn’t because, after that moment of hesitation, I was able to control better the paddle and I had so much fun! Home! After 5 beautiful days in Devon we are back to reality today, well almost today we are taking Alex's family paddleboarding in Wales!
