The second date turned into a third and a fourth, until Cheri decided it would be nice for Aster to see her place at end of spring. She made just about the only meal she can make remotely well, Goopy Carbonara. Apparently it made a good enough impression!

Settling in - Part 2

Note: this post is kind of huge, since I decided to take on the bulk of my screenshots for this part.

From where I left off, my sims were starting to run a bit low on simoleons, so they had to start looking into ways to make a living. While Quiet focused on studying logic, Princess ventured out into the forest to find seeds for her garden.

She eventually ventured into the town's Big Park. Usually they're a good source of seeds, but what Princess found instead was tons and tons of flowers. She spent a couple hours just harvesting them. Sometimes a new flower would immediately pop up elsewhere the moment she picked one. After she had picked the park clean, she had about §1,000 worth of flowers in her basket. She would go on to regularly gather flowers here, but in the meantime she still had some time to kill so she decided to peruse the seasonal attractions.

It seemed she and Quiet weren't the only unusual characters living here... There were a few ghosts having an eating contest, and another ghost that had apparently been drifting around the rollerskating rink for actual days.

She eventually found a smack-a-gnome game, which... she was not very good at.

When she later arrived home, she saw that Quiet had bought a chessboard. Logic books could get pretty expensive, but there was no limit to how much they could learn from chess. It would be a great way for them to develop a useful skill, strengthen their bond, and have fun all at the same time. There was no room for it in the house unfourtunately, but at least they still had the outer roof to protect them from the weather.

Later, Quiet started on making goopy carbonara for dinner. He seems to have made himself quite at home in the kitchen.

Some days later, Quiet finally got a new job as a Ghost Hunter. He initially considered becoming a firefighter, but realized that his feathers would easily catch fire. He also happened to have some experience with ghosts, so he was a good fit for the job. Though... they did force him to wear some uncomfortable human shoes.

The next day, I got a nice shot of Quiet and Princess playing chess. I thought it was cool how they're playing matching colors but... Don't look too closely at the board. ^^;

One night when Quiet was doing some ghost hunting at the gypsy van lot, I saw some people picknicking.... In the middle of the night. During a full moon. On closer inspection, I think they might actually be zombies. I don't know which is funnier.

Going back to Princess, her garden is really kicking off. As her skills increase, she'll be able to plant even more of the seeds she finds in the wild.

I caught a tender moment between these two in the kitchen. I'm not sure if it's because of a mod I have installed, but they've actually started autonomously flirting with eachother every time I let them socialize on their own. They're (surprisingly) not a thing yet, but they probably will be sometime soon.

Uberhood (71) - Langerak

Kaylynn and her daughter Wendy having a chat, while they enjoy a cup of hot cocoa. Wendy: "Mom? Do you believe in ghosts?" Kaylynn: "I'm not sure. I never met one." Wendy: "Let's say you meet one one day. Would you be afraid?"

Kaylynn: "That's hard to say Wendy. I don't think I'd be afraid, no."

Kaylynn: "Ghost-ing on the other hand, phew! That's a whole nother story girl."

Later that day Kaylynn made a delicious goopy carbonara, while Wendy invited some friends to hangout with.

Some pics of the nanny, Kendal Lawson, stealing simoleons from Kaylynn's money tree. Stealing is one thing but stealing from a poor single mother?! The nerve.

Sarah: Sure you had one, what was it, huh? Something like ‘Dale the Dealer’ or ‘Dale the Big D.’? Dale choked on his mouthful of goopy carbonara, Lauri, Kelly and Sarah laughed.

Kelly: Hm, 'Dale the Big D.' would fit him perfectly given his natural ‘attributes’. Sarah: Eww, spare us the details please. Kelly giggles, and so does Lauri, Dale turns tomato red. Dale: Girls, knock it off, will you?

In the Sims 3, the food recipe list includes a few obviously fake recipes (eggs Machiavellian instead of eggs Benedict, for example) but recipes that were real were all given their normal names.

Which is why I spent an embarrassing amount of time trawling "gamer" cookbooks and the internet for a recipe for goopy carbonara, and kept being like "No! These are just carbonara recipes! I'm looking for goopy carbonara".

Anyway. There's no such thing as goopy carbonara.

But when I make it (like I did tonight) its goopy carbonara, damn it.

okay, back to willow creek for a bit. since bentley passed away and the sib rules requires betty to always own two cats (which is why we've had a million in this legacy) i had betty check the pet adoption ads and look!!! bentley's goofy ears lives on in our new kitten.

everyone, meet beryl. aka goofy bc she is a cute lil goofball, aka goopy bc reference to goopy carbonara in ts3. i love her already.

but honestly, they were all good goofy options but goopy just spoke to me <3
