I'm seeing so much actively harmful misinfo regarding boycotts.
If you are spreading information on a boycott PLEASE focus on just what the BDS is asking you to boycott. In my honest opinion even THAT is a lot to keep track of, but boycotts work better the more laser-focused they are.

I've seen a lot of posts both here and elsewhere asking people to boycott not just everything on that list, but also Walmart, Amazon, Google, PespsiCo, Coke, Nestle, 4 dozen other big name conglomerates, and a big list of at least 50+ individual celebrities/CEOs/actors. That is not boycotting.
If YOU want to personally abstain from every Israeli-supporting-prduct/service you can, please do it!!!! Even before now, I've personally always abstain from chick-fil-a and 🏴‍☠️ most of my media–but that isn't an organized boycott. In fact, spreading info that every single one of those companies/individuals are "part of the boycott" is blatant misinformation and actually harms the boycott.
Giant lists that include dozens to hundreds of giant conglomerates and individuals that are hard to keep track of are meant to overwhelm individuals and dissuade them from boycotting at best, and are actively impossible to personally enforce at worst. If you are reading this post, chances are you are breaking one of the many unofficial "boycotts" being asked of you.
For example, following every ""boycott"" being asked of you 100% means: stopping use of any Google products (quitting a job that uses Google workspace, abandoning your Android phone, switching to Firefox or Safari web browser, not using Gmail, not using YouTube), stop using most/all social media, making entirely home cooked meals (every restaurant, even small ones, support Pepsi/coke), only being allowed to buy ingredients for those home cooked meals from physical, local small businesses (which may be wiped out in your area/take more gas to drive to/cost more money to buy from), and cross-checking every single item you buy with a giant list (that I hope you printed out, because chances are you can't use your phone/the internet without sending precious ad profit to Google!).
Telling someone to "do that much or do nothing" is going to result in the vast, vast majority of people doing nothing. Think about the every day people in your life–parents, coworkers, community members. Are they going to do that much? If the answer is no, then a boycott is ineffective. (Plus, doing a lot of that stops you from staying informed on the situation, which is top priority right now!)

Stick to spreading the image at the top of this post. The more people boycotting a small handful easy-to-remember companies, the more effective a boycott will be. A small amount of companies will lose a lot of money, and will have to re-evaluate their stance to give money to Israel–the point of a boycott. But, if everyone only ends up boycotting a handful of completely different companies depending on what list they were given online, all of those companies only lose a little money and no impact is made at all.
TLDR: Feel free to personally abstain from whatever products/services you want, but spreading that they are part of the boycott if they AREN'T is harmful!

Obviously it’s not perfect. Far from it. But I’m thrilled nonetheless. It looks like a real book! Granted, one that was splattered by glue and stored in a humid room, maybe, but still! A real book that was spattered by glue and stored in a humid room!
Lessons for next time: use the right kind of glue and/or less of it. Keep the workspace neat (ahem, glue-free). Ok, mostly my lessons involve glue.
I also made a book press out of two wood plaques from the craft store and some carriage bolts and wingnuts. Super easy and cost under $10!

Fic: Ship of Theseus by Gallaplacidia (fic is no longer on ao3, but a link to an archive of her work can be found here.) My podfic of it.
Fonts used: Garamond for the text, Frontage for the cover. I designed it using InDesign. Printing it properly involved a lot of cursing and googling.
The cover is canvas from Joann's, backed with lightweight fusible interfacing. I got the chipboard from a craft store. The paper used is cheap stuff I had on hand. I was trying to make this without spending any money, but my wallet laughed at that. At least now I have enough supplies to make a few more without buying anything.
My next project is already in the design stage. It's a much longer fic, but as it will be a gift for the author, that's all I can say now.
I chose this fic primarily because it's short because I thought that might be easier, but aside from the amount of time it took to sew the signatures together (negligible) I don't think it made a difference. I suppose the typesetting took less time as well.
Anyway, this was fun! On to the next!

I’m extremely excited to announce that we are now opening submissions for the second volume of JUNK.
First and foremost, I would like to thank everyone who read or contributed to Volume I. I’ve received a lot of valuable feedback over the past three months, and I have a lot of new ideas for how to further develop the concept. While the submission process will stay roughly the same, there will be some key changes…
1: Because I was on a time-crunch last time, I didn’t have the opportunity to do the kinds of content-level editing typical for a literary journal. This time around, the submission window will be much longer so that I can read every piece and then return it to you with feedback for improvement before publishing (unlike last time where the edits were grammatical/structural/superficial).
2: Instead of using email, which was very messy on my end, I’ve set up a Google form and Google Docs account just for the journal. Submissions will be done via this route, but if you cannot use that for whatever reason, just email it and I’ll upload it in for you.
3: After doing some more research, I’ve found a relatively cost effective way to upscale from handmade zines to books, so this next edition will be printed in both paperback and hardback via Amazon publishing. Yay. All volumes will also still be published in free eBook form. Down the line I would like to switch to an independent printer because you all know my opinions about Amazon, but that will require some fundraising.
4: Because the journal will be switching from zine format, I can include a lot more content. If possible, I would like to accept a lot more non-fiction content, longer form projects like novellas, essays, screen and stage plays, journalistic and travel writing, photography, and so on and so forth. The first volume had a lot (a lot) of poetry, which was to be expected, but I think having some diversity would make the product more broadly attractive.
Anyway, thank you for reading and I will be posting more updates as things move along. Submissions will be open from now, March 24th, until May 1st. Links to the Google form and email address are in bio.
