Meet Jess, my Yank Tank from the Southern Railway!

She is under private ownership nowadays, getting rebuilt into a proper engine after being used as a Generator in the back of a factory for decades.

The factory where she works is situated in Barrow-in-Furness, where she shunts the small yard and organizes small goodstrains that get picked up by diesels. From time to time however, she is allowed to take trains out of the yard to Vicarstown on Sodor.

For a long time, Jess was the factory's power generator who was just ignored by everyone and anyone unless she broke down. Until one day the owner of the factory showed up with his daughter, to see Jess. The young girl wanted to see a talking engine like she had seen in her books and on TV, and so, her father remembered the steam engine he had acquired cheaply in the late 60s.

Jess and the young girl became good friends, with Jess recalling stories from her working life and the young girl telling her news from outside the factory. And said girl would eventually restore Jess to working order and arrange for her to be used in revenue service.
