Neither of us slept well and I took one look at him at 5am and just knew. I texted my stepdad and said I was calling in and bringing him home. It was a hard thing to ask of him but Leo deserved to be with people he knew. He told me to stay, that him and my mom were coming to us. I was still in very intense shingles pain and I'm not even sure Leo would have made the drive. They enabled us to have the sweetest last day together.

Day 267 2024

I’ve been harboring a lot of guilt this past year around Leo’s death. I feel like it was my fault and a part of me probably always will. I don’t want to live in those feelings when I think about my baby anymore so I did my best to say goodbye to that guilt tonight. Mom told me to write the word, burn and bury it. I did that but I also wrote everything I feel guilty about. I did it at sunset on the beach. That guilt will be lost with the tides.

30 kenangan, terkenang selamanya

Begitulah hakikatnya bercerita, apa yang telah diutarakan, sejatinya tak akan pernah menghilang. Berubah wujud mungkin saja, tapi pada akhirnya, cerita dan semua kenangan akan kembali ke empunya dengan rupa yang akan membuat terpana.

Sudah disangka (karena bohong jika bilang tak pernah menduga) , hari ini adalah hari terakhir akun ini berkewajiban membagi cerita. Walau tertatih, meski ala kadarnya, akun ini telah berhasil menjaga komitmennya (30 hari 30 cerita) . Tak apa jika kadang telat, ataupun tak menghadirkan manfaat. Bukankah dinamika itu wajar, seperti halnya belajar lalu istirahat sesaat?

Saatnya kembali ke tempat.

history repeats itself, she’s here again. destroyed by words she promised herself she wouldn’t feel for. it’s one thing to be a disappointment, it’s another to be called out for the one thing she knew she was the worst at. ( what little she had gained was showing in her weaknesses, what three years she’s wasted improving her voice had failed her when it came to her dancing ) 

she’s the losing end, she knows this. of the four in her group, she’s the only one in minor. and though they don’t say it, jihyun knows it’s true -- she’s the weakest in the group from her own standing. it hangs over her like a noose, a reminder each day when she wakes at the start of dawn and continues until the very last minute and she’s literally pulled from the practice rooms. the producer that lies beside her cooing her with tomorrow’s another day does little to wilt her worries. fine lines grow beneath eyes in shadows heavier than the guilt she feels brooding in her soul. 

there was so much on the line ( like each episode, there’s too much, that it is was suffocating ). she doesn’t want to disappoint anyone any longer, she wants to shine -- much like the others, she wants to be the one they look up to. live up to their expectations, and not fail them like she’s done to so many ( sorry, soohyun ).

“it’s my wish that she not be an eyesore in the middle of a group formation either.”

there’s hope -- she can see the beginning of it. a spared light at the end of the tunnel, within her reach. she was almost there, time could only tell if she was destined for it or fail trying. she knows she’s troublesome, as days pass and she’s still relying on eunae and seolhyun to help her with the steps or when she stumbles and they’re going at it again because she can’t get the steps right. 

she hates to be a burden, so she works to the bone. when they’re done, she continues -- a smile on her lips; safe to the three only to fall when she’s left by her own devices, music rumbling beneath the floorboards as she goes on and on until the last day rolls around and she’s at the most her potential could grow in a fortnight. 

if they were going to be picked on, punish her call her a martyr, at least -- don’t punish her team.

a breath in and a breath out -- another blink, plus two more; a flick of the wrist for good luck. it’s unlike jihyun to believe in such superstitions, but here she is, engaging in such -- desperation a quick friend to make. an easier companion to swallow. there’s no telling how much her performance can do -- with only her voice to rely on, she can only hope this can elevate her chances. dancing could only get her so far, at this point, what three years had failed to do for her two left feet had done wonders for her voice. if there was only one thing jihyun could put all her starry-eyed dreams in, it’d be in her voice. 

when the music begins, and she’s nestled between eunae and soohyun, jihyun keeps a small prayer in her thoughts. if this was her last, she’d do the most to not let the girls down.  if this would be her last, she’d make it count.

it’s hard to say that the choreography is easier than the last, it’s more technical than rhythmic. it calls for sharp lines and intricate steps -- far more individually than as a whole. the words are divided; lines combatted with each move. a unit moving as one, four souls with their own individualistic color painting the scene.

her own belongs to her voice, feathering into her steps as each breath is made in an effort to allow her voice to showcase; to bring to the table what had lacked in her earlier performances. if she couldn’t dance, jihyun was going to at least make them notice her through the only thing she could give. she was in her element, if any could ever be so true -- like so jisub had kindly pointed out -- she was a main vocalist, she was going to give him hell with the sound of her voice.

like honey, she sings -- makes it her own weapon, drags it deep from within and makes them notice. it’s too early to regret, and jihyun was not built to do so; 

it’s her own strength, one toughened by the critics -- allowed to fly through the other’s perseverance. she couldn’t let them down, it was alright if it was her own to shoulder, but with an elimination on the line -- she was going to make this worth it. 

she wasn’t going to drag them down, not her.
