@chubbiestcow's post about James' obsession with Jack (hurricane scene) made me think about another scene when James does something unexpected (highly unexpected) and it's all because of Jack and it makes people around like "WTF".

James in CotBP (canon version):

James and the same scene in early draft:

In both versions he is like "Oh, let him go!". His people are shocked. They expect that he, a commodore, will say something like "Catch him!". They remember how he always tries to catch Jack. But nah. They hear "Oh you know what? Let's be kind and give this man his freedom. We can catch him tomorrow or... whatever".

And the early version? James Norrington, That James Norrington, helps Jack to escape. He frees him. He comes to Jack's cell and he frees him. All people are like "Oh no, he escaped! Someone helped him! Oh commodore, oh governor, someone helped him! But WHO?!", even Will & Lizzie are shocked, and James fucking Norrington stands there with poker face and is like "Yeah, yeah, what a news, yeah that's intriguing, who did it, I don't know, I don't know" and he still has that key. What a man. People are like "So... our cannons can stop him!" and James is like "Oh dear, no, relax".

And that moment in canon when he talks to Will and is like "Yeah, I knew that Jack's friends would come and try to save him..." - okay, James, you knew. But... you also HOPED, huh? 😉

Gillette is confused. He is sooo confused. "Then Gillette gets it". What, Gillette? That your boss is obsessed with this pirate? That your boss fell for "the worst pirate (...)"? That he doesn't want to kill him? (and he CAN'T). But he needs to catch him (see him) again? Yeah.

Oh you, James Norrington! You fell so hard for Jack. So hard that sometimes you sabotage own plans and your people's actions 😉 (James, are you aware?)

If only the original Saint Seiya anime was a 2014-2018 anime series instead of being aired in the 80s-90s, I can only imagine the sheer amount of animation memes that could have been done. Some of the characters are just so perfect for those, like, if this was a more animation-oriented fandom this would totally be a thing.

Its clear time marches on outside the Constant, and while its not as obvious of discrepancy with the adults, it would definitely be obvious with the kids. Jack would be pretty shocked to see that Wendy hadn't aged a day since she disappeared who-knows-how-long ago.

It would be shocking for Jack but I don't doubt he would greet her with the love he has always had for her child. . . At least that's what I think Wendy would dream about

One thing I've learned from this novel: whenever Dr. Seward gets any sleep, everything immediately goes to shit.

Not to say he is at all any more useful than a blood bag, but that man's sleep schedule is a harbinger of doom.

finally i am here to talk about the end of twins the series. my last post but i need it

yes, it's very hard to forgive this clownery. i fell for twins not for the same reasons i fell for pit babe, last twilight or the sign, which is awesome because it's so good that different bl series exist. and you can have that one that balances it, that it's a safe zone - like twins was. it was a feel-good series, light-hearted, easygoing. until it wasn't. and i feel so wronged. i feel heartbroken and disappointed for varied reasons:

- it is unfitting that Sprite is like that. to the point of feeling odd, frustrated and almost confused that some things were happening. i guess the writers know him better (?) but it doesn't feel like it. and in the end he keeps going for the determined 'i like you i will flirt and we will date' without feeling honest guilt or even giving credit to First's feelings. is he someone this shallow? does he realise he seriously fucked up? and if this is the Sprite they were looking for, i hate him. it's a no no

- said enough about how frustrated i am towards the way they characterised First. and unfortunately the ending was as i expected, given the path they were going. it was so but so hard to watch it. almost unbearable. if they were looking for a 'oh so cute he gives in so easily', or a 'oh so whipped for Sprite', i did not feel it. just frustration and lack of sympathy for the choices

- the lack of development involving First and his father. in the finale the father says 'well done. i'm proud' and then problem solved and traumas from the past fixed? no no no

- lack of real communication between First and Zee. they just did not talk anymore and just played together? did they not have things to solve between them? so now they are kids that forget things without talking about them and problem solved? they are not kids. and as a viewer i needed that talk. it would make so much sense that they did it

- lack of more context on First's sister and what the fuck happened to her in the last episode. again... confusion and oddness and randomness. and they didn't even talk about it anymore. wtf

- Sprite, Zee and both parents eating together and just happiness and no real talk, not a sorry towards the kids that clearly suffered from a divorce, negligence and inexistent co-parenting

- all the hiding and lies and in the end only First ended up knowing about the switching? did the others also knew and i did not get it? no repercussion for Zee's future on volleyball given that someone else unlawfully played in his stead? needed so much more clarity on Zee and Sprite officially being two individuals and all the people close to them knowing

- lack of development of other stories (like Jack's family)... if you do not wish to give us more insight on those, don't make them up

Oh boy, nonny, you’re gonna hate my additions to this mad Jack post from Tombstone then (after I finish getting where I can screencap it, anyway).

Jack is Not Happy(TM) with Sam and Imma show you why that is. Yes, it’s the same stuff Sam tries in 14x01, telling Jack he has faith in him. That’s not bad, per se, but it’s not very effective with Jack.

Jack responds to praise and frank honesty, plus a lil of that good old-fashioned hook-for-reciprocity that Dean n’ Cas both do. “I open up, you open up. I show you my weakness, you show me yours.”

Sam tends to stay…vaguer. And more generic. And Jack shuts down. Even in the alleyway in 15x02, Sam kinda opened up about being a kid with powers, and Jack responded well, but Sam’s pep talk lacked context, so it accidentally set up Jack to cool towards him in 15x04.

But omg you should see Jack’s scrunched up angry face in response to Sam in Tombstone. He does it. Twice.

And like, Jack does sull up and get defensive sometimes. Dean and Cas both seem aware of this tendency of his, because they try the same snake-as-metaphor tactic with him in Peace of Mind to get him to open up without treading on his nerves.

Why are Dean n’ Cas more aware of Jack defensiveness? Well! They’re the ones who give him honest, safety boundaries. (See Dean charging in to rip Lucifer away from Jack; Cas lecturing Jack on not using his soul, etc)

Sam’s tendency to stick to softer boundaries (sugary cereals, for example, or letting Jack come along when he’s not quite ready in 14x01) in the name of independence lets him live forever as, “the guy in Jack’s corner.”

Jack loves Sam, of course, and Sam would die for him. But! In this episode, Sam might as well fling himself against a brick wall for all the luck he’s having.
