The fact that TikTok is trying to make Zepotha happen like it’s the “new Goncharov” is so offensive because like, there’s already a new Goncharov. And it’s an 80s slasher film. It’s called Goncharov’s Return (or Goncharov’s Revenge in the European release). Just the height of hubris. Learn your history.

Can I interest you in some Goncharov’s Return/Revenge (1983)?
The "Zepotha" trend on tiktok makes me SICK as an indie slasher fan. Why did they choose the name "Zepotha?" Name one fucking indie slasher from the 80's that isn't called something like House of Guts. "Zepotha" would be the name of an arthouse horror from the 70's created by a giallo-obsessed Johnny-come-lately director from New Jersey. Zepotha would be brought up in every other "obscure horror recs" thread on reddit until it became a circlejerk meme to even mention it.
"Oh you sound so mad, you sound like you just want to gatekeep--" I DO! I'M GATEKEEPING! None of these people even like slashers! They can barely make it through Fear Street, and then they still make fun of effects that aren't Marvel-sweatshop-grade CGI! You expect them to be able to create a fictional slasher movie with the conviction that this site had when it created Goncharov? Get! Off! Of! My! Lawn!

Okay but like, what's up with the running gag of confusing french and italian in Goncharov's return?
It's not that type of movie. Who even thought of that.
I admit it was funny, and I really, really needed it at certain points, but still.

Sounds like Goncharov’s Return all l over again.
it's really very simple. you have The Muppets, not to be confused with The Muppets (movie), which is not to be confused with The Muppet Movie or the "The Muppets(TM)", which is the Disney brand The Muppets and The Muppets were produced under. not confusing at all

Dropping questions about BSD x SAGAU :))) You said that the BSD cast would bring those who assisted Reader to their world and get revenge for Reader. Yet what if they miss Teyvat, or love their people? Nahida thrives to be a worthy Archon for Sumeru, Furina sacrificed 500 years to protect Fontaine and the Spina di Rosula's goal is to assist those in need, the Adepti are loyal to Rex Lapis, etc. How will they react to the punishment? Will they do anything to convince the BSD cast to spare Teyvat?
Before answering your question, I need to clarify something about Punishment Plan.
It can be put in three phases.
Phase I - Taking a look, do some (mild) damage.
Character didn't do anything drastic (almost), they simply look for more information.
Currently, there are:
* Lovecraft (sinking ships, made Dottore mad)
* Jouno (stealing books from Creator's churches, after learning, that Kaeya gouged out Reader's eye, snapped. Killed everyone in Creator's Cathedral of Mondstadt, blinded and muted Kaeya. After that, he is lying low, stealing books from Creator's Cathedral of Liyue)
* Tetchou, Verlaine, Tachihara, and Tanizaki (attacking trade caravans. Not killing anyone, but they do take away everything.)
* Fitzgerald and Atsushi (scamming Ningguang and Pantalone into loosing money. And Atsushi in tiger form are Fitzgerald's mount)
* Mark and Steinbeck (Rob Northland Bank)
* Dazai and Ango (scamming people)
* Fyodor and Sigma (established a casino)
All goods and mora (except from the ships) are currently being kept in real world on the attic.
And, Capitano is still captured in a basement.
____
Phase II - To the rescue
BSD Cast saving everyone, who helped Reader.
_____
Phase III - It's Showtime.
BSD Cast release all their powers on Teyvat.
_______
So, Teyvat Helpers will be saved, before situation get too serious and out of control.
And to the question.
Teyvat helpers have the right to be included in a discussion about Teyvat's future. And they have a right to vote.
Teyvat Helpers, on one hand, understand BSD Cast's pain and anger. What happened to Reader were terrible and cruel. They understand, why BSD Cast want blood.
But, Teyvat still remains Helpers' home. Their people live here. And not everyone wanted to hurt Reader. Someone were too afraid of going against Fake Creator's orders.
So, the heated discussion took place.
Helpers are trying to minimize the damage.
BSD Cast are trying to "get permission" to punish as many people, as they can.
Some punishments are set in stone.
Mori insists on fighting Zhongli.
Fyodor insists on punishing Neuvillette.
Goncharov wants to do some damage to Tsaritsa.
Everyone wants to kill Fake Creator. (This one isn't up to debate, they will do it).
Reader will be the one, who will have the final word.
If they said, that they forgive/don't care about Teyvat, BSD Cast will listen.
If they said, that they want some kind of revenge (without killing and mutilating), BSD Cast will listen.
If they said, that they want destruction... You get the point.
Helpers will talk to Reader, trying to explain their point and why BSD Cast should go easy on Teyvat.
They have good chances to succeed.

Writing my final paper for "Media and Society" on Goncharov, and the wording of the question means that I will need to choose a certain post or at least a certain scene to write about and I am DYING trying to choose...
much like Ice Pick Joe on the cathedral steps as Valery tried to get revenge for Luciana's murder not knowing it was Andrey all along.

Georgous mother cali, would you think to continue any of the fics you did for kinktober? So many lf them ended on cliffhangers that made want to knaw on something.
Sorry for the delay in my reply but I thought about it and there’s a bit of a tie for me.
The winner for a potential part two is (in my opinion) #15 res derelictae — an abandoned thing. This is the one with heavy dom/sub//master/pet play in what was (I can only describe and perhaps diagnose) a subconscious, sexually-warped, COD-coated retelling of The Fifth Element with Ms. Mila Jovovich and Mr. Bruce Willis which I clearly have unresolved sexual thoughts and motivations about. I just spent so much time doing all kinds of mental, moral, and ethical gymnastics, enough to give the Olympics a run for their money, to try and justify the actual heinous conditions for this fic to have even been possible. Behind the scenes of this dusty-barn-blowjob-single-sex-scene espionage mystery, there are just an absurd number of moving parts. We’ve got mob bosses, we’ve got unresolved Cold War tensions, we’ve got the nascent relationship between Jonathan and Kate, we’ve got sleeper agent revenge sub plots… it’s a hot fucking mess. And now it’s all just sitting there in my mind all so that she could lick his cock and crawl on the ground like his naughty little puppy girl, except she can murder him with her bare hands at any time. Is this my Goncharov? Am I using that meme right? Anyways, no one wants to read that, so it’ll just rot in the ol’ dome for now.
But also maybe the gargoyle fic? That was a fun world to write. A sequel perhaps where she helps them breed a new generation of gargoyle warriors? Idk. Gargoyle 141 just kinda stays on my mind.
Hope this answered your question! Which one do you want to see more of and why, anon??

The thing about the recent Goncharov resurgence is that imo people are reading way too much into the symbolism! It was a famously troubled production- the anecdote about Jean-Luc Godard ringing Matteo JWHJ0715 just to laugh down the phone and then hang up is probably untrue, but trotted in every New Wave cinema tell-all book nevertheless- and they were almost 20 million over budget. No wonder the dress in Katya’s dream sequence is reused by Sofia in the balcony scene, and appears on a shop window in Naples. They had to save any dollar they had left!
Replying to this SO late, but: ok a) symbolism is in interpretation, which means it's the audience's contribution more than the creator's, which means there's no such thing as "reading way too much into it."
Also, yeah yeah they were over budget but who isn't amiright. I DO believe the anecdote about how much they had to bribe every single soldier along the Berlin Wall in order to do all that shooting on location.
And c, they make the budget-necessitated symbolism WORK, okay! Katya dreams about the dress because Sofia wears the dress because the dress symbolizes the freedom she could have had if she'd left with Sofia then, and Katya knows that! So when she sees it in the shop window toward the end, it's still out there but it's too late, it's behind glass and she doesn't have time to stop, because she has to go kill her husband and continue the cycle of revenge... UNLESS you subscribe to the Katya Lives theory (10/10 I agree), wherein that specific dress is still probably out of reach, but maybe she can reach "New York in the fall" like Sofia said!
Constrictions create great art, basically. Imagine how much better some modern movies would be if they DIDN'T have billions of dollars to lean on, rather than, like, good writing and acting.

Group F, Round 2, Poll 8:
Tumblr media
Propaganda under the cut
Goncharov
He spends the entire film lying to and manipulating as many people as possible to achieve his ultimate goal (Katya is an obvious example; her having enough of that is a driving force behind their breaking relationship), and also including himself (insisting that he doesn't like Andrey when they're basically about to kiss anytime they're on screen). Also Gaslight Gatekeep Goncharov amiright
Medea Solon
She is an expert girl boss she was gonna marry the prince but he "fell in love" with someone else so she swore revenge. Also that someone else also swore revend against the prince because he is awfull.so now they are girl bossing together. Medea gaslights he most loyal servant/friend/lover a lot she views him only as a tool, but he sees her as his dream girl. She sometimes sleeps with him and in other ways leads him on, letting him think there is a chance when really there never was. she is just doing it to keep him loyal to her. She gatekeeps a lot of information from everyone that she is close to, partially because she thinks it's wise to keep important information secret but mostly I think she does it to stay in control of everything all the time always.

I was tagged by the lovely and talented @goldenhare and @fieryphrazes to share my top 9 new-to-me movies of the year—I will definitely be raiding your lists to add to mine! Titles are in poster order, not ranked or anything. I've been working my way through a long list of 60s films this year, and had a hard time remembering any recent ones to add (you don't want to know how close I came to including Goncharov). Anyway, these have been the standouts! I'm really struggling not to write little reviews here.
Alphaville (1965) dir. Jean-Luc Godard
Anatomy of a Fall (2023) dir. Justine Triet. You'll all know this one, but it was such a pleasure to watch without any knowledge of what it was about.
War and Peace (1966-1967) dir. Sergei Bondarchuk. Yes, this was over 7 hours long, but what of it? What fascinated me about this film is that it was conceived sort of in retaliation against the 1956 American film starring Audrey Hepburn, which was a big hit. Surely the Russians could interpret this story better! And they were right, they could and did. The other thing is that the director cast himself in the lead romantic role, despite being too old for the part, because again, he was convinced no one else could do it justice. Knowing this, I assumed I would dislike his performance, but I was wrong.
Revenge of a Kabuki Actor (1963) dir. Kon Ichikawa
World on a Wire (1973) dir. Rainer Werner Fassbinder. Somehow, this film was Blade Runner a decade before Blade Runner. I always leave Fassbinder film wanting to watch it again right away, and this was no exception.
Plein Soleil (1960) dir. René Clément. This is the first film to have adapted The Talented Mr Ripley!
The Trial (1962) dir. Orson Welles.
L'Amour Fou (1969) dir. Jacques Rivette. This is not my favourite Rivette film (to date, that is Out 1), but you can see the origins of his later, more complex films here.
All of Us Strangers (2023) dir. Andrew Haigh. Ough.
I'll tag @thedoubteriswise, @featuresofinterest, @waitedforgarridebs, @cahootings, @sidneypagget, and whoever else would like to be tagged!
