- It was a Nice Day

Or it might've been. Lately, it was difficult for Crowley to tell.

It was a day-

   Clement, with a slight breeze. The sun making intermittent appearances from behind clouds grey enough to suggest the possibility of a shower at any moment. It is England, after all.  Sudden rain is always possible.

For Crowley, the chances of an unexpected drenching increased significantly. Depending on his state of mind.

While for humans, It's often the case that the weather holds an influence over their moods. For a demon, or more specifically for Crowley, it's the opposite. He has this habit of letting his moods affect the weather. A mental spiral too deep, and even the most pleasant day could suddenly turn. [and that's putting things mildly]

Presently, Crowley has managed to spare the rest of the Country from his "tempestuous mood swings" [Previously? Nothing but monsoons for three months in a row]. However, He could still expect a good drenching for himself and anyone unfortunate to be within a five-mile radius,

Well, at least he's managed to stop it from happening indoors.

He didn't mind rain before.

-Had fond memories of rain. He still complained obviously. He never liked getting wet and soggy, cold and damp. Who does? But Crowley always complains about the things he secretly fancies, often complaining about them more than the things he truly despises. [He could even go so far as to defend things he dislikes, provided doing so leads to an entertaining argument].

seeing this get written was an experience! one of the things keeping me alive during prelim exams LOL if i remember correctly, this kind of started bc i was curious if bomens zira would actually have, i guess, a real demon equivalent the way shax (stork), beelzebub (fly), and furfur (deer) do. so i looked up the words 'crow demon' and whaddya know!

a crow demon!! and what's that? "cause Love"?

what a perfect fit for demon!aziraphale! and really, i was only messing around the first time i had the idea of "haha lol wouldn't it be funny if demon aziraphale was a crow", and then bam! all of it started to, surprisingly, fit well together pfttt (special thanks to bepo for being the one to piece it all together wheezes <33) (also, just really thank you all for bouncing ideas with me, it really does make me happy dfgdhjd <3333)

and then elle wrote a little snippet at first (IIRC) and then he just feakign!!!!!!! WOAGH!!!!!!! just, tasty delicious words, a fic that made me kick my feet like i was a schoolgirl while reading the whole thing ASKSKS <333

i'm really happy with all the spot art i drew for this! wanted it to look very uhhh, i wouldn't say storybook, but watercolor illustrations were definitely a huge inspiration! i wanted them to feel as nice and cozy as YOU would feel while reading elle's fic <3

i do gotta thank elle again for making these two fem-presenting when they were at the dowlings' bc then i get to draw butch gardener crowley. do you know how much that means to me? do you know do you do y do you know how m how much that how m b butches butches butches .

Crowley x GN!Reader

Summary: Crowley has a bit of a self-revelation when his wings pop out upon seeing you.

Crowley didn't even realise it at first. He was so busy watching you. You- so perfectly human. So perfectly ordinary. You weren't even doing anything super out there either- you were just... out on your balcony watering a plant.

And yet to Crowley, a demon of Hell and a fallen angel, you were the most beautiful thing he'd ever seen. How could you not be, really?

When you turn around, Crowley's worried he's about to get whisked away by some horrifying Hell-beast sent to drag him back down under and no, he doesn't mean Australia. Although sometimes he had to wonder if Australia wasn't some elaborately planned prank to poorly imitate Hell. But that was a different question.

Anyway, where was he? Oh, yes, when you turned around and made eye contact with him, Crowley thought that given the look on your face, maybe Hastur had somehow made a triumphant return. That would have been less than stellar and Crowley wasn't quite sure what to make of the implications of that if it were true.

"Mm- what," Crowley asked, brows creasing in concern as he twisted his rather bendy neck to look behind him. Seeing a swish of black cross over his shoulder, Crowley wondered just what it could- oh. Oh. His- his wings were out. Why were his wings out?

"You- you're-" you stuttered, pansies forgotten and drowning under the water you were still pouring on top of them.

"I am," Crowley replied, just as confused as you.

"God, Crowley," you breathed, setting the watering can down without breaking your gaze away from the feathered appendages stretching and flittering against the breeze in your apartment.

"Mm," Crowley hummed. "Not so much on the first, but go on."

He's nervous, you realise. About your reaction. He's worried you're going to react negatively and he's going to have to leave you. Silly demon. You could never.

"They're gorgeous," you rushed out, stepping towards him, hand outstretched gingerly. "Can I touch one?"

"Sure, I guess," he answered, actually looking rather unsure. He swallowed thickly when you make contact, fingers softly trailing the ridges of a feather. "These old things- had them for ages. Since the dawn of time, really... Almost."

"Where'd they come from?" You asked, ignoring his rambling. "As in- just now?" You clarified quickly. If you didn't, you were sure to receive a deflective answer.

"Not sure, really. Think maybe- because I was thinking about something. 'Bout you."

"About me?" Your eyes darted to his and you immediately understood. You could see it in those slitted eyes. He was in love. With you. Crowley was in love with you. Not that you didn't already know that- what with having been together for a good few months by now, but he had finally really and truly come to the realisation on his own. You were his forever.

"About you," he confirmed, voice soft.

It was a good think he was your forever, too.

Hm. I should probably take out the "weekly" part of my fic recs lol I haven't been able to keep it weekly. The recs actually take a fair amount of time and mental space because I enjoy going in depth in what I feel/think, and these past few weeks have been 💫chaotic💫. But alas. I still want to share fic recs. Maybe I'll call them random fic recs or something. I'll see.

Anyways. Until now, I haven't recommended many longer fics (I have trouble being succinct and on point with fics, I ramble a lot. With longer ones it's even worse... how could I fit in a few paragraphs the experience when there's so MUCH to talk about?) and WIPs which is a crime. So this time I will rec 3 WIPs I'm following!! But an unprecedented charity event is getting set up at GOMENS, and quickly, their own athletes will have to compete with and assist each other in turns. Two worlds, two personalities. But if they want to run for a cause that matters to the both of them, Crowley and Aziraphale are going to have to find an Arrangement.

THIS FIC. HAS ME ON CHOKEHOLD. I love it so much. I'm loving to read Crowley and Aziraphale finding eachother because they want to win a race. I didn't know I needed racer!crowley in my life, but I needed it. And the fact that they're nb speaks to me on another level. It is good to read a nb character being a loved, successful, and charismatic racer. And that doesn't mean they don't go through shit, and @captainblou addresses it wonderfully. And dancer!Aziraphale is so... amazing and human, honestly. I love the conflict he has between his craft/skills and his own perception of self. How he puts effort into being confident and brave despite his own hangups. Look, Blou's writing is a joy. It is really so good and emotional, and - I will stop now, JUST GO READ IT AND YOU'LL UNDERSTAND. The characters feel real and alive. Also!!! ALSO I CANT FORGET. THIS FIC HAS ILLUSTRATIONS BY THE AMAZING @searchingforakeythatdoesntexist . Her art is so good 😭😭😭 I can't begin to describe it.

Science Teacher Crowley and English Teacher Aziraphale have hated each other for years, kept sane only by the distance separating Aziraphale's English classroom from Crowley's lab. When all that is undone because of renovations in the Science block, Crowley ends up placed right next to Aziraphale for the upcoming school year. What will it take to shatter the reasons behind their resentment and make them realise just how wrong they've been about each other?

I love @howmanyholesinswisscheese writing so much. The way he describes the feelings, the ambience, the setting is so lively, heartfelt. He says he doesn't write poetry, but he goes poetic so FAST. There's a paragraph in chapter 5 about Aziraphale's crow feet and laughter that just... is so beautiful. And this fic is so funny!!! I love how they bicker and are reluctant to share space but end up finding middle ground. How Aziraphale really tries to extend an olive branch and succeeds... how their friendship blossoms. It's such a good read, and so light and fluffy. I love it sm.

The first fic I've read of @klikandtuna was find the light (a recently finished wip! So double rec!) and it was delightful – such a hopeful story! So I was super excited to this one and let me tell you... it is so AMAZING. Really. The descriptions are magical, the concept is so interesting. I'm so curious to see we're this is going! I love how colourful Crowley is in this (as the author said to me, he has a lot from starmaker!crowley) while still being Crowley... and Aziraphale is caught in so many conflicts. Gosh I am so excited for the next chapters. Go read it!!!

These fics have been a source of joy for me 💛 reading them one chapter at time for some reason makes them even more special in my heart.

assorted rambling gomens thoughts but i'm so glad s2 ended Like That. i mean like yeah my heart aches and I wanna shake Neil Gaiman's shoulders yes but i'm so glad that we're unpacking azi's trauma now. I was expecting for him and crowley to have Talked About It off-screen in the five or six year interval since s1, but this is so much better, bc now we get to see him do the hard work of building himself back up and realize that everything he'd ever wanted was right there. s1 wasn't really about them like s2 is, and the ending is proof that this really is their love story.

it's like the dinner party!! everything was just Off. it was too good, too light, too sweet--everyone saying what aziraphale thought was the right thing to say while the world literally crumbled around him. and of course crowley was the one to try and snap him out of it, to understand first what was wrong and try to get him to see. crowley has willingly walked into heaven twice now after Falling and not once has he wanted to stay, bc like gabriel and beelzebub said (btw i can't fucking BELIEVE my favorite fic trope for them is canon now wtf this season was INSANE) real heaven (or hell haha) is w/ his angel. like what in the goddamn.

Doctor Who

I just recently started watching actually. Nuwho in September and classic in November. Went down the gomens->dt->Dw pipeline, currently obsessed with 12 & two’s era. Big Thoschei enjoyer btw 😻 and obviously my latest obsession since March has been Twojamie. My favorite companions are probably Rory, Steven, & Jamie? But I love Bill, Dan, etc I don’t think I dislike anybody. As of now I am up to date with modern who, and going through two’s era of classic while watching strictly chronologically bc I refuse not to ☹️ also I’ve been listening to a lot of audios lately and would love to chat about those.

adding to my previous ask, I will say it's a shame he doesn't like Sweeney. Like of course he wouldn't, but I'm still weirdly indignant about it lol. Also, it's extremely funny to me that my top three interests are so closely related and it makes me very happy. I knew about the queen connection from the beginning bc it's literally part of the lore but I don't know about the Sondheim thing until very recently!

Sorry for my rambling, I just know our interests align pretty well so you'd probably get why I'm so exited lmao

Who doesn't like Sweeney, Aziraphale? Lol yeah that's not surprising. Too dark and gleefully twisted for him. I feel like Crowley would enjoy it. Company would nuke them both at the end, though. Aziraphale would be happy throughout most of the show, giddy during something like "Side By Side"/"What Would We Do Without You?", Crowley would be groaning, but then they'd both get very quiet during the last fucked up 20 minutes or so.

Lol yeah, I remember when I was writing a lot of gomens fics back in 2019 and I had a fun time inserting Queen and Sondheim lyrics into the fics and having them actually fit. I normally don't write or even like song fics, but this show/ship is an exception. I just put the lyrics to the first part of "Long Away" in the WIP I posted last night. I like when I can have my interests collide, too.

Concept: Good Omens just as it is except everytime Crowley thinks/says/does something self-deprecating "sugar we're going down" quietly plays in the background. Meanwhile everytime Aziraphale is being a drama queen, "killer queen" plays increasingly louder and louder

Petition for a new ao3 tag

We need something to describe those fics that are just soft and heartfelt, almost poetic. Those that might be happy, sad, or angsty, but are the fic equivalent of an acoustic guitar in the middle of a bustling waffle house. A fic that slows you down and is an ode of love to life. Because I want to be able to find these fics, but they're scattered across so many different tags and genres it's a hunt for them. @drawlight is a prime example of an author of these kinds of fics. The cafe aus, the soft morning-in-bed fics, the unrequited-love-but-I'll-let-them-go fics, all the fics based on that "Jenny darling" song (and similar ones).

I vote we use the tag "heartfelt" or "softsoul" for these, but I'd love to hear other ideas. I just want there to be a tag for this thing
