favorite color: i have the soul of a five year old and therefore i have many favourite colours: baby blue, pastel pink, mint, pale orange, turquoise to name a few

three favorite foods: singapore noodles, gomboti cu prune (romanian plum dumplings that my mum makes, but really i like the worm-shaped ones without plums the best), peanut butter on homemade bread 😌

There aren’t too many Romanian restaurants like the new Parsnip, the new casual eatery from the business partner/cook of Lemon Poppy Kitchen. The menu is short: dips, Romanian dumplings (bulz and gomboti), plachinta (stuffed flatbread), soups, salads, sandwiches and hearty bowls (beef goulash, chicken paprikash, sarmale (cabbage rolls)). Nothing is over $9. Order at the counter, get a number/card and find a table. They’ll bring the food to you.

The food is simple, fresh and homestyle. They use quality ingredients and quality bread from Bub and Grandma’s.

The place is small and there aren’t many tables. Only one table is inside and the rest are outside in a mostly covered area between buildings. The tables are small and seem to be meant for the outdoors. They aren’t very comfortable. You can help yourself to water. They also have a housemade crunchy onion dill relish on some tables – it’s delicious.

* Sarmale ($9): Cabbage rolls stuffed with beef, pork, rice, spices, simmered in tomato sauerkraut sauce and topped with dollops of sour cream and chopped scallions. These were delicious. The cabbage was soft and sweet and everything worked together. The sauerkraut wasn’t too sour and the tomato sauce complemented the meat and rice filling.

The restaurant is in a hipster neighborhood, and you’re likely to see hipsters dining here.

Cartofii ii fierbem in coaja. Dupa ce s-au fiert ii lasam la racit. Dupa ce s-au racit ii curatam de coaja si ii pasam bine. Amestecam faina cu cartofii si cu ouale batute.
