I've had this idea for a "MOTHER 1 sequel" for ages Like obviously the game got two actual sequels But neither of them were really continuations with the characters from the first game, yknow? (except Giygas)

So this idea would be following up on the cliffhanger at the end of the game "Something new has come up" And Ninten gets to have another adventure, with Ana, Lloyd, and Teddy coming back, old and new characters and places, etc

It's not a suuuuper developed idea, but one of the main things I've thought of is one of the main villains

(this is a preeeetty old and messy sketch, but it gets the design across. just ignore the scribbles, the fact that you can clearly see the school assignment written on the back of it, that there's a border around ninten because i drew him too high up and had to slide him down in my art program, etc)

This guy's mostly original, in terms of design, role, personality, etc But he's actually a preexisting character from MOTHER 1 And if you've played that game, hopefully hearing his name will immediately make you hate him

Meet Mr. Goldrich Duncan, an incredibly wealthy and influential industrialist, owner of Duncan Enterprises and the Duncan Construction Co. with factories and businesses all throughout Eagleland

Basically after suffering through Duncan's Factory for the second time, I thought "god i wanna meet this Duncan guy and punch him in the face" And he is no less annoying than his factory, I assure you

You manage to tick him off pretty early in the game, and he makes it his goal to interfere with your adventure as much as he can And he's rich, he has all the leisure time in the world to devote himself to that He buys out the Paradise Line and hotels and makes sure that you're forbidden from using them, he pays off cops and government officials to make sure towns are unsafe for you, buys your dad's company specifically to keep him from getting back home to you He even has some of Giygas' leftover tech at his disposal, the prime example of which serves as the other main antagonist (that'll be for another post) He is a sleazy, evil megalomaniac, and he's a constant presence in the story

The story's overall a bit bleaker and more depressing than MOTHER 1, but there's still a lot of hope in it Like you still have your friends with you, since the hotels are out of the question you find friendly individuals who are willing to house you, regaining the Paradise Line would be a pretty big moment, and Duncan's ultimately defeated

So yeah, there's Duncan and a couple of plot points from my story idea There's a number of important things I haven't mentioned, but this is really just the Duncan post, not the full story, so I'll probably elaborate on it later

(also i think he'd have a cult at some point)

(oh and i didn't mention it, but that badge he's wearing is one of his patented "duncan badges" which are knockoff franklin badges he produces in his factory (i'd retcon the second badge you find in M1 to be one of them))
