Whumptober 2024: No. 16 - "No, I can't feel anything."
Title: Lessons Taught Through Pain
Fandom: WWE (Professional Wrestling)
Characters: Jey Uso, Roman Reigns and Jimmy Uso
Rating: Teen and Up Audiences
Word Count: 532
A/N: Welcome to another addition to Whumptober, Day 16. This one also really hurt me to write, I apologize in advance to anybody reading.
Summary: Roman Reigns taught Jey a lesson during the cage match, a lesson at the expense of Jey and Jimmy's own well-being. This is the aftermath of that lesson.
Cross posted on AO3 under user wrestlinginjeans.
Tumblr media
Roman Reigns had become a monster, shaped by the hands of those who he once thought loved him. But it was his choice to remain that way, making him a monster of his own making too. His lust for power and the gold had twisted the very fabric of his being and had turned him into something else entirely. He could blame so many for this, but should he? He had everything that he wanted, and they had nothing. What more could he ask for?
Roman Reigns had gone from a man in a crowd of fifty others to the Only One. He had gone from a nobody dressed in tactical gear alongside his brothers to the Tribal Chief, Universal Champion and the Face of the WWE and people loved him. He had long since shed the people who had been closest to him when he had first broken into WWE or that’s how he portrayed himself. There were times when he missed what they had had but those times were in the past and this was now.
He had found the ones that would support him, have his back no matter what he asked them to do. They were his family, his true blood, they had no choice but to follow him. This mindset, this egomaniacal mindset that demanded absolute obedience was what started it all. The looks, dripping with disrespect and rebellion shining in the eyes of his right-hand man. He had tried to squash it down, stomp his misguided cousin into the dust until he fell into line by threatening the one that he most cared for, his twin brother. It had worked for a while until Jey realized that his only option was to circumvent his power, to steal the Bloodline out from under him and Roman couldn’t, wouldn’t have that.
He had accepted the challenge from Jey to prove a point. Roman wholeheartedly believed that Jey didn’t have a chance at beating him. He had used Jimmy to get Jey to submit and it had worked. Roman intended to teach Jey a lesson. Jimmy was his weakness; his family had always been a weakness of the younger Uso twin. That ended today.
Jey lay on the mat, clutching his brother to prove to himself that he was still whole, that his brother was still there with him. His fingers, gripping Jimmy’s arm felt numb. Jey Uso, the one who wore his heart on his sleeve had been destroyed. Roman had gotten what he had wanted all along.
Later, in their hotel room as Jimmy slept off the pain, Jey broke. The physical pain that raked through his own body from his intense bout with their cousin fell away, a dark void left behind as his broke down into uncontrollable tremors and sobs. He had become what Roman had wanted him to be despite every fiber in his being telling him not to. His heart that he had always worn on his sleeve had been closed. He would do whatever it took to protect his family, even if that meant giving himself up in the process.
(No, I can’t feel anything, not anymore. I won’t allow myself to.)

Wrestling fans have always cherished the iconic championship belts that their favorite wrestlers hold high. Owning a replica wrestling belt allows fans to bring a piece of the action home. With 2024 bringing exciting new designs and updates, finding the best replica wrestling belts can feel overwhelming. This guide simplifies your search by highlighting key factors to consider and showcasing the top belts available today.
Why Buy Replica Wrestling Belts?
Replica wrestling belts are more than just collectibles. They are symbols of passion for wrestling and its unforgettable moments. Displaying these belts in your home or office shows your love for the sport. They also make excellent gifts for wrestling enthusiasts.

Factors to Consider When Buying the Best Replica Wrestling Belts
Choosing the right replica wrestling belt involves several considerations. Here are the most important factors:
Material Quality Look for belts made with durable materials. Leather or faux-leather straps and metal plates offer a premium look and feel. Plastic belts are more affordable but lack authenticity.

Brand Reputation Purchase from reputable manufacturers or licensed sellers. Trusted brands ensure quality and authenticity.
Budget Replica wrestling belts vary in price. Determine your budget before browsing to avoid overspending.
Purpose Decide if the belt is for display, cosplay, or personal collection. Some belts are better suited for specific uses.

as a sidenote pro wrestling history is just absolutely, endlessly fascinating to study. from the gold dust trio onwards, you have 100 years of so many of the most absolutely bizarre people to ever walk the planet attempting to figure out how to sell a fake combat sport to the masses.
and there are so many aspects to it. sure you can just study the wwe but you’ll never get the full picture of american wrestling without studying the territories, of which there are countless, each with their own individual histories and names up until vince old yeller’d them. or the promotions that existed in the mid-late 90s and gave wwf a run for its money during the Monday Night Wars. or the promotions that have popped up since the mcmahon empire became a monopoly
and what about international wrestling? take a deep dive into El Santo, the most famous and iconic luchador of all time (he was even in Coco), or learn about how CMLL is the oldest surviving wrestling promotion in the world. Or look into Antonio Inoki, founder of New Japan Pro Wrestling, and the various oddities surrounding his life. and that’s just two of several international scenes
how about indie wrestling? sure anyone can tell you who stone cold steve austin is, and most folks might know the nwo, but who out there knows about Chikara’s The Colony? can you name a local promotion near you?
how about weirdly niche subjects, like championships. did you know the WWE Intercontinental Championship is a combination of a North American Championship and a South American Championship that were unified? And that the latter title didn’t even exist, they just made it up for the backstory?
like any form of art (because that’s what pro wrestling is), there are endless styles and masters and techniques and oddities and fun facts. but the nature of wrestling means so many of the people involved are genuinely just fascinatingly strange. sometimes in frightening ways, true, but also sometimes in amusingly absurd ways too. i love learning about all these weird little tidbits
