Cannon Films was pretty infamous for whipping up pre-sale artwork to pitch movies when all they had was a title and maybe an actor attached (or maybe they would just slap an actors name onto it without their knowledge). Apparently before it became Albert Pyun's bizarre cyberpunk Mad Max / Fist of the North Star spaghetti western starring the Muscles From Brussels, they were pitching Cyborg as some kind of Judge Dredd / Robocop knock off. Even used the same font as the latter movie.

In 1986, Cannon Films released a sizzle reel promising big stars, big movies, and big box office returns. Not only did a third of these not get made, almost none of the ones that did made a profit. Something worth looking back on in the era of eternal turnaround and box office disasters.

Avenging Force (Карающая сила)

In 1983, Cannon Films decided to make a new Hercules movie that would star the Hulk, Lou Ferrigno. Somehow they decided to best make it like it was one of the late 50s/early 60s style sword and sandal movies instead of spending a few more bucks on it. At least he tosses a bear into the stratosphere.

An unused poster by Frank Frazetta for the film America 3000 (1986).
The film was from Golan-Globus/Cannon, so you know it was...not good. However, I'm pretty darn sure Frazetta's poster would've gotten a few more butts in seats than the poster they went with:

Why can't premium streaming sevices have trashy, sexy titles? Why aren't they even shown on TV anymore? What, HBO/Cinemax? You're think too elite for Sorority Cleavage III: The LaserBot Space Massacre? Too pure? You owe your existence to that kind of title! And that kind of title was the bread and butter and mainstream entry ramp for a very wide stripe of up-and-coming filmmakers, talent, and technical maestros. That kind of movie was like 30% of the video market!

No EVIL Gets Left Behind! "P.O.W. The Escape" reviewed! (Ronin Flix / Blu-ray)
“P.O.W. The Escape” on Blu-ray at Amazon.com! Colonel James Cooper’s moto is no one gets left behind.  The seasoned P.O.W. extraction officer volunteers for a politically spearheaded suicide mission to save Vietcong American captives before a cease fire treaty ends the war, effectively turning the P.O.W.’s into M.I.A. and possibly never heard from again.  As the U.S. Airborne Colonel expected,…

If you thought Cannon's first Hercules movie was dumb, The Adventures of Hercules from 1985 decided to one up everything. There are slime people and a good gorgon monster in it, but woof, it's... pretty bad.
