Medic's young daughter quickly becomes intrigued by her father's work, as soon as she's able to look over the table. It becomes a common occurrence for her to watch him conduct his research, occasionally asking questions and learning more about biology and medicine. Medic is hoping this is a sign that she'll follow in his footsteps, but is happy enough that he has his daughter's company.

Beach Episode!! I just had to take the excuse to draw Tech and Medic in vintage swimwear lol. Look at them, don't they make a cute couple?
Ref and tracing notes under the cut:
I very lightly traced the poses for size, but only used small parts of the woman's outline before adjusting the sketch for Tech's body shape. I also traced an angled shot of Medic's head, but that was edited as well.

Day 2: Formal
Another one for @dontneedadispenser's V-Day event. I almost didn't post it, but a few friends of mine made me feel better about it. Please accept my humble contribution. u///u 👉👈
This is my personal cliché scenario of going to a ball/gala, but I did also see Saxton Hale host these kinds of parties, so you could say this stuff is canon. Maybe one of them was nominated for a merc award and was invited to bring a few friends. And with the help of an anonymous "fairy godmerc", Technician was able to attend a fancy event for the first time in her life. Needless to say she took her secret admirer's breath away - just like she hoped she would.

On this day last year, RED Medic and Technician tied the knot! What better way to celebrate than to make a picture based on the TF2 achievement color palette challenge! It's quite an achievement for sure, and perhaps one that more TF2 OC ships will get in the future.

When I say that the sound of my f/o's voice helped my mind and body settle down from overstimulation anxiety, I know the self ship community will understand.

The first 4 of my top posts are my techmedic art and I couldn't be happier with that fact. I'm also happy with the number 1 post cuz it was written with Medic in mind, and I'm glad other people can relate to what I experienced with him.
This was another great ship year with him and my other f/os, and with all my amazing friends here. Here's to more self shipping love and happiness next year!

Can we talk about novel! vs show!Porchay?
Please take this with a grain of salt because we haven’t actually reached the parts of the plot I’m going to talk about so there is still room for it to happen in the show, however unlikely it’s looking so far.
NOVEL SPOILERS AHEAD (obviously)
So far, show!Chay has been a little ray of sunshine while also making it clear whose brother he is, which novel!Chay did a little differently. In the original novel, Porchay was a little spicier when it came to his language, which can be very clearly seen in two parts of the novel.
“Do you think this will scare me? You're just being insecure. Because whatever you do, my brother will always be ahead of you. He's even better than you because P’Kinn won't follow him around like that if he's not!”
So the first is when he’s kidnapped by Tawan and takes it as an opportunity to mock his brother-in-law’s ex and hit him where it really hurts. The novel even mentions him having fun annoying him. He also calls Tawan a preschooler.
"Kim, you fucking bastard! Just try getting on with someone else, I'll pray to the Gods to make your dick shrink and rot!"
The second time is during the gathering of mafia wives (Tae’s words, not mine), which he tags along on because he’s absolutely convinced Kim is cheating on him (as far as we know, he was not). And he yells that out the car window as they drive away.
So, in conclusion, I really would love to see Baby Chay show his fangs a little bit. He’s been very precious so far, and I appreciate that, I really do, especially in a mafia show where he is the one shining beacon of purity and Wattpad-like joy amidst the darkness of moral ambiguity, but at the same time, it could be interesting to see him just SNAP at some point. He is Porsche’s little brother after all, and I would love to see him make at least a snarky comment.

My #1 post of 2022
Timelining KP
The time has come. I’ve spent the last few days organizing my notes as much as possible, so here it is. And it is a monster of a post, I swear I didn’t realize how long this was going to end up being.
HUGE NOVEL SPOILERS AHEAD
So the short version is this:
Ep 10 - VP starts, Chay gets kidnapped, further discussion of the mole, videos, Tawan is dealt with (30 - 33)
Ep 11 - VP episode, “fuck where’s Pete”/dead body, Porsche’s birthday (34 - 36)
Ep 12 - funeral/Return of the Pete, post-VP (36 - 40)
Ep 13 - parental issues, conversation re: Vegas (42 - 44)
Ep 14 - boss battle, party (44 - end)
And now things get more specific, which is what was taking me so long.
Episode 10 (next episode)
Transition between the end of the Tawan arc and the beginning of the VegasPete/Everything-Is-An-Absolute-Trainwreck arc
VegasPete starts (obviously)
KinnPorsche will probably break up, but get back together by the end of the episode, potentially with the pool scene (although I know I’m setting myself up to be clowned with this one)
KimChay reveal
Kidnapping plotline
Porsche tries to move out/Big pushes Chay dumpster fire extravaganza
Basically everything up to the end of chapter 33 of the main novel (Tawan arc over, KimChay are a mess)
Further discussion of the mole (Kim knows Porsche isn’t the mole, everyone else probably realizes he isn’t the mole, so who is?)
Again, potentially Chay getting kidnapped (kinda hoping that’s what they go with since it was a really nice transition in the novel, not just for Chay himself, but it was the push KinnPorsche needed to talk out some of their issues and get back together, particularly for Porsche to be willing to hear Kinn out after the shit he pulled)
Maybe the whole thing with the sex tapes toward the end, or episode 11, or not at all, who knows
Oh and this would be the VegasPete episode that will probably feel the most uncomfortable because it’s really the beginnings of their relationship and even toned down it’ll be quite the experience
Not just for us but for Pete as well
We will probably see Vegas become more attracted to Pete beyond just being intrigued and amused
Episode 11
I’m thinking primarily VegasPete, like (hopefully) almost entirely VegasPete
Probably cut in with some main family drama
Chay moving in with the main family?
KimChay kinda going to shit
Obviously some Tankhun commentary would be amazing

150 followers: Meet the Writer
We’re happy to announce we reached another milestone: we have over 150 followers! Thank you so much for joining us! And as usual, a writer was randomly selected for Meet the Writers Q&A. Get ready to meet our third writer:
Blog: @undermounts
Name: Lea
Birthday: April 27th
Nationality: Chinese, German, and Filipino
Current residency: California, USA
Languages you speak: English
Masterlist: Tumblr masterlist / AO3
1. Is there a meaning behind your url name?
No, not really. It just references Undermount from Blades. My friend Liza @shadowcourt actually gave it to me from one of her saved accounts when I started writing my Blads fic (bless you Liza).
2. When did you start playing Choices? What's the first book you played?
I started playing in late 2016! I’m pretty sure the first thing I played was either The Freshman or Most Wanted.
3. When did you decide to join Choices fandom?
The first time I posted about Choices was in July of 2017 on an old side blog of mine.
4. Go back to your archive and tell us what was your first post on your Choices blog was about.
This blog is very old so my first ever post was an rb about Nico and Bianca di Angelo from Rick Riordan’s Percy Jackson and the Olympians, but my first Choices post on this blog was about getting to marry Jake from ES and Drake from TRR.
5. How long have you been writing fanfiction?
Since June of 2014!
6. Share the first fanfic you wrote with us. Do you still like it or would you change anything about it?
I wrote my first fanfic when I was 13 but it has since been erased from the face of the earth and will never be seen again, which is honestly for the best. However, the oldest fanfic of mine that can still be found today is called Somewhere Else. It’s a TRR AU Drake x Riley fanfic in which the two meet in NYC and have a whirlwind romance as Drake searches for Savannah. I still like the fic even though its plot is solely focused on romance—which isn’t really my style anymore—and it’s pretty short.
7. What are your favorite Choices books to write about?
Blades of Light and Shadow and Bloodbound.
8. What is your specialty as a fanfic writer?
According to my readers, it’s exploring worlds and complex characters in-depth while spewing loads of angst.
9. Which part of writing do you struggle with most?
Lately, the hardest part for me has been staying focused! I think a large part of that is because I’m working on a really ambitious project right now and I have a lot of ideas I’m worried about executing properly and I have these self-imposed expectations I’m afraid I won’t meet. It’s daunting but in a good way. Writing usually comes easily to me but I think it’s good to struggle sometimes because it helps me grow and improve.
10. Do you participate in any writing events or challenges throughout the year? If so, what do you like about them?
I haven’t participated in a writing event or challenge in a while! I used to do them when I was still in The Arcana fandom. I think the best thing about these challenges or events is that they can either break up my normal writing routine and give me something new/different to work on so when I come back to any current WIPS, I do so with a fresh mind. They also sort of force me to tackle subjects or themes I’m not used to writing about which ultimately helps improve my writing overall.
11. Are there any writers (published authors and/or fanfic writers) who influenced your writing?
Rick Riordan definitely showed me how important it is to have a clear voice/style in your writing. That has definitely made writing infinitely more enjoyable for me because it doesn’t just feel like I’m telling a story but like I am also expressing myself through my work. Another author that has influenced me is Sarah J. Maas. Her Throne of Glass series is what encouraged me to be really ambitious with my current project, Ashes and Embers (A&E), in terms of creating an elaborate plot, exploring not only the main characters in depth but also the supporting characters, and worldbuilding.
12. Do you have any writing buddies or critique partners?
My dear friend Alia ( @thealia ) betas chapters of A&E for me! Without her, I would probably be crushed beneath the workload. Liza ( @shadowcourt ) graciously listens to my ideas and hypes me up with her A&E headcanons. I also have to give some recognition to Kelsea (@shegrumbles) and Sav (@courtesanofedenbrook ) who not only provide me with endless love and support but are also fantastic writers!
13. Do you reread your own fanfics? If you do, which one have you reread the most?
I actually have not reread any of my multi-chapter fics simply because I haven’t had time to! The moment I finished Bound, I immediately jumped into writing A&E. But I have reread a short fic for The Arcana called “The Power of a Name” a few times because I love the angst.
14. A Hollywood producer tells you that they want to film just one of your fics. Which fic would you want it to be?
Oh, absolutely Ashes and Embers. Maybe I am biased because it is the fic I am currently working on, but I truly think that it is the most action-packed and elaborate story I have ever written. I have so much planned for that fic—including a second part that has yet to be named—and it already feels like a movie saga in my head.
15. Do you write original stories?
I do! My original WIPs are currently shelved just because of timing/workload but I hope to finish them one day!
Do you want to contribute with questions/ideas for the next Meet The Writer Q&A? Send me a message.
Thanks for reading! Reblog to share your appreciation for @undermounts ❤️

i'm going to post this again bc i feel like this needs traction but here it is i originally posted this on my political/spam as a reblog but i need this to get out there
i know this is long but this is important and i want people to here me out on behalf of gen z. its scary how much i grew up im 14 and barley into high school. just for presepcitive for other generations to understand why we grew up so quickly here is every thing that happened in my lifetime that i knew about when it was happening or felt the effects of a few years later. i was born into a world were we just went to war with most of the middle east and was only 5 years after 9/11. by the time i was 2 the iphone came out and the world i used to know for my 2 years of life was changing and it was so confusing. by the time i was 3 i saw the economic downturn before i even knew how to add 1 + 1. all i truly remember was that most kids channels reran 90s-early 2000s show instead of making new shows around this time. but i felt the effects of this later. by the time i was 5 i started to see cracks in my education be it in the form of not being challenged enough and feeling like everything was dumbed down for me. by the time i was 6 or 7 i already had learned the full scale of 9/11 in school and to be honesty probably early from hearing stories from my family. by the time i was 10 i saw my first election for my own eyes. i saw my entire 4th grade class once united divided over politics we barley understood. i also was introduced to the fact that my planet was dying bc of golbal warming. most of us were barley old enough to be double digits. by the time i was 11 the divide became more clear debates that would usually be over who could jump highest in the playground. became debates over who would be a better president and which party was better. one thing we all had in common was that we all saw the man we grew up as our president suddenly not be our leader anymore. the man we saw as our president from the time we were in diapers it was scary and confusing. instead of arguing over who had a better lunch in the art class we argue over religion and whether god was real. i remember we had a mock election in our 5TH GRADE CLASS and kids bullied each other not over who had more silly bandz but who we voted for. then all the sudden our technology in school was changing every day. one day i had a computer lab that i had used and known since i was 5 years old. the next it was replaced by something i barely understood. this all happened when we barely understood how to divide. when by the time we entered middle school we were already reaching for a childhood nistoga we never got. by the end of 7th grade i was 13 and i had learned i was not straight, thus having the looming threat of being outed and being kicked out of my home. and i had dealt with an abusive friend that seriously put me in danger multiple times and had years of bullying from my pears that i ignored because i had already been thru too much. going to 8th grade everything was good. until i 2020 hit and i was faced with the looming threat of WW3 in the first weeks of 2020, then an entire content went on fire in the second month, by the 3rd i saw a whole pandemic go down, by april by parents found out i was bi and was not supportive, by may i saw the video of george floyd go viral with my own eye, by june i saw entire cultural revolution form before my eyes. after all this i want to say how dare you say “kids these days” i lived through all of this before i was in high school. thanks to a broken system i lost my entire childhood because of the people im suppose to look up to. and just so you know this wasn’t our choice to know about this was pushed onto us
my friends that i want to rb and add to but anyone can rb and add to it 2:

Tag || Peter Parker
You had been playing a game of Tag for 13 years, this could be the end.
Characters: Peter Parker x Reader, Mj, Ned Leeds, Tony Stark
Word count: 2260
Warning: fluff
AGE: 17/18
a/n: for my love of the movie Tag. PLEASE LEAVE FEEDBACK AND RBS MAKE ME DAY <3
Tag. Ever since you were 5, Peter, Ned, Mj and yourself had played a game of tag for the entire month of June. It was the bond that held you together all through elementary, Jr. high and now high school. Now it was after your senior year and with the threat of being pulled apart by college, this year had definitely proven to be the most extreme yet.
The only ground rules were as follows:
No tag backs
No hitting of private parts
No outsiders allowed to join
Nothing is off limits
No superpowers fuck you Peter
In the 13 years of the game all of you had gone to extreme lengths in order to get rid of the cursed tag. Highlights include: crashing Ned’s aunt’s wedding and tipping over the cake in the process (smooth move Parker), running through a protest and accidentally breaking your arm while going after Mj and lastly finding out Peter was Spider-man when you sneaked up on him and he jumped to the ceiling. After that you had to add the 5th rule.
With school out, nothing was holding you back from putting everything you had into this motherfucking game. You were it with 5 days to go. Ned had tagged you so he wasn’t a target. Mj and you had made a truce to get Peter, he hadn’t been tagged yet this year- that was unacceptable. Luckily, you had Peter wrapped around your finger. Mj knew this was because that boy had been head over heels for you since the 3rd grade when he realized girls didn’t have cooties.
Mj put a tracker she and Ned had made into Peter's backpack earlier that day. You followed him to a park, happy to finally have the upper hand. You hid behind a rock and watched the small dot on your phone get closer and closer to you. Finally you heard his voice, you couldn’t hear what he was saying- honestly in the moment you couldn’t care less.
As soon as the dot pass the rock and you saw his black converse appear on the path you jumped up and threw yourself on his back “You’re it!” You laughed as he let out a surprised yelp. You hopped down and started to take in the world around Peter Parker. Right behind him- who he had probably been talking to was Tony-fucking-Stark. Your cheeks heated up and you felt your knees go weak. You had just jumped on a guys back in the middle of a park while they were walking with a famous billionaire who had no idea you even knew him.
Peter turned to you and bit his lip. “I-I… I’m sorry- I didn't. Shit.” Peters cheeks were pinker by the second. “Mr. Stark, this is uh, (y/n).” Peter motioned to you Tony put his hand out to shake, “I’ve heard quite a bit about you. I didn’t think this is how we’d end up meeting.” He smiled and you nearly fell over. Peter talked about you? You’d be sure to bring that up later.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you. I don’t normally go out and jump on peoples backs by the way.” You quickly grasped onto what was left of your reputation. “That’s a relief. Can I ask what made you do it now?” Peter rubbed the back of his neck before sighing, “It’s a game. We um- Us and our friends play this game of tag every June- its kinda a big deal and (y/n) was it and I hadn’t been tagged this year. How’d you even know where I was?” You turned him around and unzipped his front pocket, digging out the small device and handing it to him. “Mj made a tracker.”
His eyes widened, “wow.” You nodded and shifted awkwardly, “I um- should get back to Mj… We were uh, studying…” You nodded to Peter and waved to Tony while backing up, ready to run away as fast as humanly possible. “Nice to meet you Mr. Stark!” He smiled again before you took off.
You didn't see Peter for a 2 days until you and Mj were taking your weekly trip to the beach. This wasn’t to say that either of you were very inclined to go sit on a crowded beach that smelled of bird shit and sunscreen but you both did enjoy the people watching. Ned decided to join after the promise of ice cream.
You sat on a towel, sunglasses blocking out the harsh light, bathing suit covered with a loose white tee. Mj was reading a book- more than likely about a civil rights issue that you would definitely learn about as soon as she finished the book and was able to properly argue with no one but direct the rant at you. Ned was sitting back and just enjoying the heat with earbuds playing music softly.
Everything was at peace until out of nowhere the book was knocked from Mj’s hands and Peter appeared running by and leaning down to tap her shoulder, “gotcha!” Mj didn’t miss a beat to lean over and hit you, “Go get em tiger.” You scrambled to your feet and took off in his direction.
You maneuvered between towels and kids playing, never letting your eyes off of Peter. He looked over his shoulder to see you closing in on him. He ran onto a volleyball court and barely missed the bottom on the net while attempting to make it, you let yourself slide under on your knees with ease, quickly catching up. Peter took a sharp turn for the ocean. Sadly for him, some kid had been working on a sandcastle and left the bucket lying around, catching his foot and causing him to topple over. You couldn't stop yourself soon enough and fell right on top of him. You laughed against his chest, “Not fast enough Parker.” You chuckled again before being knocked off Peter by a wave.
Peter got up and started back towards where you both had left Ned and Mj. “If I tag Ned, we both run and let Mj fend for herself?” He asked, you chuckled and nodded. “Sounds like a plan.” When you reached the towels you quickly picked up your phone and towel as Peter tapped Ned, “Sorry!” You yelled and then took off laughing with Peter once again.
7 am, June 30th. 17 hours until the end of the game. Last you heard Mj was it. You had woken up bright and early to try and get the jump on everyone. You made your way to the coffee shop, you thought it’d be safe there until 10ish, that's when the rest of the group tended to wake up. You got coffee and sat facing the door, this way they couldn’t get past you. It was around 9:30 when a women started towards you, she was wearing a dress and a hat.
You looked around to check if there was no tables left and she just needed a place to sit… but that didn't seem to be the case as there was still quite a few empty table and chairs. Then it clicked- Peter had pulled this same shit on you in the summer before 8th grade. “Really this shit again? Learn some new tricks Peter.” You laughed until the women looked up and it was just a random stranger. You turned beet red and started to spew out apologies, “I’m so so so sorry- I thou- I didn't mean-” that was when you heard the evil laugh from behind you. “Peter!” you whipped around and caught his eye, he leaned to look past you and smiled, “thanks Ms. Samuels!” You glared at him, “I thought Mj was it?” You could see the smirk playing at his lips, “Oh yeah, she is.” “Then why are you… fuck.”
A hand patted you on the back, “we love a good distraction.” “dammit!” You lunged as Peter ran like a mad man for the door. You chased him a few block through the masses of people on the street before he run into the subway. You followed not far behind. The train was just pulling in as you reached the platform. You could see his brown locks speeding towards the cars. “You’re not away this time Parker!” You slipped into through the doors just before they shut. The car was plenty full but that didn’t stop you from pushing past people in order to find him.
It didn't take long to find him trying to hide in between a man and the doors. You put a hand on your hip and raised an eyebrow at him, “Peter you have to know when you admit defeat.” he peaked out at you past the man's shoulder and shrugged, “it was worth a shot.” You laughed and tagged him. “Better luck next time dude.”
12 pm, June 30th. 12 hours remaining. Peter tagged Mj and you were once again fair game. In the last hours of the game things got desperate. In 5th grade you locked yourself in a bathroom at Mcdonald's for 6 hours. Peter made aunt may tell you guys he was sick and Ned and once pretended to get arrested in order to not be it at midnight.
5 pm, June 30th. 7 hours to go. Mj tagged Ned after trapping him with a new lego set. You thought that might have been the end. But you can never truly feel safe as long as the clock remained running. You wondered around the city, just walking the streets in order to stay active and not be anywhere they would expect you to be. You started down a random street when you felt someone grab your arm. You reacted instantly and punched the person square in the jaw before realizing it was Ned.
“Oh my god! I’m so sorry I thought you were some random guy! Are you okay?” Ned nodded and groaned, “yeah I’m fine- now that you’re it.” “are you sure you’re good?” Ned nodded again before reaching up to check if his nose was bleeding, “Yes. Just don't hit me again.” You sighed, “Shit, how the hell am I gonna tag anyone? How’d you even know where i was?” Ned shrugged, “Peter wasn’t the only one who we can track.” “Are you kidding me? We really need to update those rules.” “Yeah, like maybe no punching.” You shot him a glare, “stop whining and get that fucking tracker off me.”
11:35 pm, June 30th. 25 minutes till your impending doom. You, Mj and Ned had made a truce to work together to tag Peter. He had let it slip to Ned his plan to get out tag free. Hop on the Ferry at 11:45, you had to admit it was a solid plan- or it would have been if not for his big mouth. You hid on the dock as the last passengers of the night found their way onto the Ferry. You waited until 11:44 to run on and find a seat in the corner with a view of the entire level.
As the Ferry left the dock you sent a quick text to Ned and Mj, ‘plans a go.’ Peter wasn’t in sight which meant he had made his way to the second story. You went up to second floor and peeked around the corner to find the target. Peter was nowhere to be seen but you had watched him get on the boat so that only left one place.
You softly walked to the front of the boat and sure enough there was Peter Parker. Your heart leap at the sight of him with the wind pushing his hair back and his sleepy stature leaning against the railing. You looked down to your phone, 11:56. You knew what to do. You knew exactly how to finish this game. Now you just had to wait a few more minutes.
You watched him from against the edge of the doorway out to the deck, careful to not let your shadow ruin the eliminate of surprise. 11:57, this plan was crazy and might just kill you in the process but Mj had promised it would work just fine. 11:58. Too late to back out. You stepped forward and cleared your throat to make your presence known. Peter turned to look at you, his eyes grew wide as he stepped back, pressing against the railing.
“Hey Peter.” You smiled as sweet as you could. “(y/n)...” You moved closer to him, “Ned kinda let your plan slip.” Peter went a little more rigid and mumbled under his breath, “Damnit Ned.” It was now or never, You pushed yourself towards him and kissed him. It wasn’t your first kiss, but it was your first kiss with Peter Parker. You didn’t know if you’d ever have a reason to do it again and you didn’t want to let any second of it pass. You put all the built up passion into a single moment. You pulled away before to long. Peter was staring at you with wide eyes, mixed with surprise and lust. You carefully pulled your phone up and pressed it, letting the screen light up to revel the numbers 12:00 and smirked, “You’re it Parker.”

Personal Log
So. I’m being made redundant.
I have known since June and I’ve been working hard to plan and prepare, so I just wanted to let you guys know what’s going to be happening with me in the upcoming months.
Under the cut, because long post.
I am expected to finish at the end of January, followed by 3 months of ‘gardening leave’ during which I’m paid, but I don’t need to turn up for work. Because of reasons, there is every chance that I will be turning up for work anyway, voluntarily, to get experience at something I want to do next.
Now onto my main plan, which is a year long work and travel experience in New Zealand. This would take place in Nov/Dec 2019.
Though I am also considering other variations, which would push this back in time for a few years for reasons that mostly have to do with money.
Once there, the idea is to work full time for 10 months and then spend 2 months burning money just travelling. Then come back and hope to hell that I can find another job, as at that point I will be broke.
So, big changes. Now, if anybody would seriously want to do the NZ programme with me - let me know and I can share the details (though I doubt anyone is in the position to do so).
To be absolutely clear - fandom-wise I am not going anywhere.
There may be an impact to some of the events on @gatheringfiki, namely at the moment I’m not 100% sure what will happen to the Raffle, but my intention is to run it as planned. There may be delays, but I will know more closer to the date.
In the immediate future mid-Nov to mid-Dec looks very busy, as there are several training courses I will want to complete ASAP. Then, I’m on A/L for most of December, and I’m not flying home for Christmas or anything, so there’s every chance that I’ll be messaging y’all for some human contact.
After that, I’ll keep you posted.
If you’re wondering what you can do to help:
Just... don’t go anywhere, as a fandom. Having done life-chaning moves before, I know that there has to be something constant to tie you over between the old thing and the new thing. For me that constant is fandom. Or more specifically, the people who create it. So please keep writing, or drawing, commenting, or just chatting to me from time to time. It honesly means a lot.
You can help me financially, using my Etsy shop. You are more than welcome to buy something, either for yourself or as Christmas presents, or if you’re not in the position to do so (no worries), you could help spread the word. You can find the Etsy Shop here, my tumblr that goes with it here, and there is currently a sale going on (10% off) for selected items here. I don’t have a facebook or twitter, so please consider other social media than tumblr too.
Other than that, there is also my RedBubble. The problem with RedBubble is that I only get about 5-10% of the price you pay for the whole item because of production cost and the cut that RB takes. By comparison, from Etsy I get about 90 - 95% of what you pay. Still, this is more likely to be relevant to your interests, and every little helps. Again, it’s okay if you just spread the word instead of spending money.
Also, if you’re looking to just keep track of my NZ adventure (or other, smaller adventures that I try to have in the summer), I have created this here personal Tumblr. This will be where all my photos go and entries about where I am and how I’m doing. Please keep in mind that there will be limited activity on this tumblr for a while until I go, but I will post something about it again closer to the date.
That’s it, really. I am doing okay at the moment - I’d like to think that I’m too organised and too strong to allow this to become a big problem, but there is no denying that there are challenges up ahead.
My messages are always open if you have any questions and I’ll try to keep you up to date :)

Thorium is not Soluble in Water
While other methods of dating objects exist, radiocarbon dating has remained vital for most archaeologists. נערות ליווי בתל אביב Some etiquette books say you should be honest and perhaps suggest "going Dutch" up front, where both parties pay for the date, while others say you should wait to ask someone out until you've saved up enough money to pay for the other person. And of course, even married couples need to get out for a special date occasionally while managing a mortgage and family expenses. Unless something was obviously attributable to a specific year -- say a dated coin or known piece of artwork -- then whoever discovered it had to do quite a bit of guesstimating to get a proper age for the item. You may feel insulted or sad that your ex was able to move on so fast, but when you meet someone else and fall in love, you'll probably feel a little bit less bad about your ex having moved on. There's also still usually a wide window of time that an object can fall into.
There is never a for sure way of knowing till you have spent time with someone. 1. What time of day are you the perkiest? Meanwhile, the old standby dates, like going to the movie theater, are getting increasingly expensive. The service is based on an old Jewish tradition: helping young, single Jews meet others in the faith. AskMatch, a free dating advice service that lets you pick the brain of a dating coach, can be thanked for a wave of positive reviews on the App Store(opens in a new tab). With any luck, the other person will pick up on your situation when he or she learns more about you and offer to go Dutch anyway. The great thing is that budgeting your dates will probably force you to think about more interesting activities. A girl who's let a guy pay for the past few dates can offer to make dinner for the next date.
On the next page, we'll get into some tips for inexpensive dates. Despite these limitations, radiocarbon dating will often get you a decent ballpark figure. However, they felt like they could get correct back the last recognized opinion of attention. They were last seen in July 2022, with the split coming two months after Morrone turned 25 in June. Avoiding fancy dinners and overpriced movies doesn't mean sacrificing fun or culture. It has so permeated Western popular culture that even those who aren't looking for love know what it is. A little communication can go a long way in avoiding misunderstandings that could ultimately lead to conflict or even break up the relationship. 2. The person you’re getting to know/hooking up with has been clear that they don’t want a relationship at all. If you choose a more mainstream dating app (which is totally fine), you’re going to be on a dating app with people who aren’t Christians. However, others have extended their scope to include people of all religions, shapes, sizes, interests and sexual orientations. Young people like to do things that an older person might consider physically taxing.
The excavator might employ relative dating, using objects located stratigraphically (read: buried at the same depth) close to each other, or he or she might compare historical styles to see if there were similarities to a previous find. I see four major problems with the creationist claims -- sufficient to invalidate the creationist paper rather than (as Gill desires) the Rb-Sr dating procedure. This is the point in our review where the quality of the apps we have on the list takes a major dive. However, we have tried to gather some to give you a taste of the Russian dating site. The study found that 37% of online dating users said someone on a site or app continued to contact them after they said they were not interested, 35% said they were sent an explicit message or image they didn’t ask for and 28% were called an offensive name. This Christian dating site is responsible for more marriages than any other app on the planet, which should grab your attention. If you're after cheap dating, then free UK dating sites can be a great solution - there are so many more out there than you think. But now archaeologists studying, say, the development of agriculture across the continents are able to determine how different societies stacked up against one another throughout the millennia.

As I sit in my beautiful city apartment, sitting 48 floors (well, really 38 floors) above ground level looking over the vast and sprawling western Sydney suburbs, it is crazy to be writing another blog post summarising the year that has been, especially after reading last year’s 2019 post.
2020 was a wild ride, and it’ll be fascinating to see how 2020 is remembered globally as a year, and how much of the world wide chaos will continue into next year, given that after all, 2021 is just another collection of days strung after these has passed.
We rung in 2020 in a beautiful big house in the blue mountains with 14 amazing people, crawling down the hallway as slugs, drinking, doing too many drugs, and purely in love with life and each other.
We kicked off the year as we spent 2019, with lots of gigs, big plans of travel, and lots of social outings.
We went to unify in January with Ritchie, Brad, Maddie, Blake, and Elliot. it was the worst weather we have ever encountered there, and that’s a huge call for unify. The new venue was awesome but the 50km+ winds and torrential rain meant lots of time under the gazebo holding it together and listening to enter shikari on the speaker. There was glimpses of festival vibes, seeing Kubla Kahn, Knocked Loose, The Ghost Inside, and Columbus, but also lots of missing shows and general carnage. Also out tent leaked damaging all of our things but still, I wouldn’t have missed unify for the world. There was an amazing crew, with Steph and DJ, fruit and nut, and many other amazing people - what more can you ask for?
We were lucky enough to go to see Dealer, Tiny Moving Parts, Hellions, Crystal Lake, Northlane, and Trophy Eyes, and The Brave,
I started baking a lot more this year. Celia bought me the beautiful Christmas gift to do a baking stall in Glebe markets, which I fortunately managed to do in Feb. It was so fun and we sold so much and it just invigorated my love of making tasty things for people I love.
Keira and I also went to a yoga retreat earlier in the year which was awesome, it was great to spend time with her, even finding out she was pregnant! This year in October the family was changed forever in the most beautiful way with the birth of little Baby Ellie. My parent’s also sold their family home to move down to Canberra which was a big adjustment for me and us but they’re all so happy down there together and I’ve been fortunate enough to be able to work from Canberra quite a bit to spend time with the family.
So now we get to the COVID summary I guess, it’s 2020 after all. In Feb we were kind of joking about this whole COVID thing, not understanding the scale of what was about to change in the world. I started working from home on the 14th of March 2020 and have only been back to the office for one day in between waves of outbreaks. It was a huge and at times very lonely and sad year having to cope with the few month lockdown, closures of gyms, and not being able to see friends. While in lockdown, I started to learn to make peace with being alone and being still. I started making bath bombs, cross stitching, playing lots more fish game, and finding crafts to make me happy. It has given me a huge appreciation of how hard the introvert’s life must be living in an extrovert world, being being forced into a introvert life for months was draining and exhausting. I spent a lot of time at F45 bootcamps and walking around the harbour looking at fish, listening to Enter Shikari and Bright Eyes.
The year made a lot of people weird in ways I’ve never seen before. Something like the Black Lives Matter protest is a good example. It was a fantastic thing that people were out screaming on the streets about inequality for racial groups and for indigenous rights, but somehow this became a polarising issue. People started denying COVID, becoming anti vaxers, Blake just didn’t reply to be for 6 months, and I feel like the left and right are so extreme and seperate now with the crazy media and information spreading, it’s interesting to watch. I feel like in the past I wouldn’t have even known my friend’s clear political stances, but this year, it’s top of mind for everyone and discussed frequently and fuck me it’s hard to be friends with literally anyone who sympathises with the right. I guess locking people up in their homes for a year does crazy things to them. But at least Trump got voted out, there’s always good things to focus on I guess.
Between waves Sydney opened up again to seeing friends. We forged a new little group of Jake and Jami, Matt and Jordan, and extra people at different times, but it’s sweet as it’s the first time that Ritchie and I have really made friends together and it’s so lovely having a new home with these left wing inner west emos that I didn’t know I’ve always needed. Celia and Tash have been beautiful constant support this year again and I’m so grateful for such amazing humans to share my highs and lows with.
I started seeing Chrissy in June this year, once gyms opened again and I wanted to start building some muscle and curves and because I realised I liked lifting heavy stuff more than cardio. It genuinely changed my life. I’m eating more than ever and feeling great in my body, and it’s amazing being focused on performance goals rather than aesthetic for the first time in 10 years. I competed in my first power lifting comp, where I squatted 64kgs, benched 39kgs and deadlifted 100kgs. I know these aren’t huge numbers but I was so proud of my little body for being able to do that (with body weight of 58kgs), and given that I’ve never thought of myself as a strong person. I haven’t missed a workout (except when I got my wisdom teeth out) since I started with her and I am proud of how I’m transforming my body and mindset.
We spent a weekend in May in Jervis Bay with my family for our birthdays which was amazing and the start of what I think will be a new family tradition. I really love my family so much and feel so damn lucky that I enjoy spending time with them so much.
We moved homes in June too, upgrading to a 2 bedroom and multiple balcony amazing apartment in the city, just up the road from our old place. Moving was so much damn work but this place is incredible and so much more amazing than I ever thought I’d live in. I’ll always look back at the Waldorf affectionately, as a beautiful place that we created a home in for the first time and shared with so many amazing friends. But damn this place is gorgeous.
Work was pretty crazy but also not at all. I’ve been at RB again all year this year, that makes almost 2 and a half years which is pretty big for me! I started the year by winning the extra miler award, and being generally very well celebrated as CSM, before being moved to being a NAM. Working under Dani was awful, and the job was literally the worst thing I could ever imagine someone having to do. The bullshit and admin and hours and pressure are something I would never wish on anyone, and after having frequent panic attacks and throwing up out of stress at Hyde park, I realised that life is too short do a job that makes you miserable. While it’s unfortunate that this took me 27 years to work out, I think it’s great that I got there and learned a very valuable lesson in work life balance and happiness. I had to resign from RB at that point, but conveniently, Amna resigned on the same day, making an empty role as CSM for Coles. I pushed for a senior title and now have an awesome job. While working under Chris isn't ideal in some ways, I have a boss that cares about me and a colleague (Ellie) who is smart and awesome. I’m happy working in an interesting and great job that makes me excited do go to work. And even though it won't be my forever job, it’s a great ‘for now’ job that I enjoy, getting great experience on the resume, and that will hopefully take me overseas some day.
I ended every other blog with hopes and dreams for the next year, and it’s a little sad that I’m so reluctant to do that this time, because I have literally no idea what’s to come next year. I really hope we will be able to travel and see gigs again, it’s hard having the 2 best things in the world ripped away from me. However, honestly, as long as I am surrounded by as much love as I was this year, I know that things will be okay and I’ll be happy.

COVID-19 fears at the Giro d’Italia

Moukoko can’t stop scoring
He’s only 15 years old, but Youssoufa Moukoko has continued his scoring streak for Dortmund’s U19 team.
The young star netted his third hat trick in as many games against fierce rivals Schalke as Dortmund ran out 3-2 winners.
Moukoko turns 16 on November 20, when he will become eligible to play for Dortmund’s first team in the Bundesliga.
His recent exploits were sullied, however, with Moukoko suffering verbal abuse from Schalke supporters.
The club itself released a short statement on Twitter apologizing for their fans’ behavior.
Egyptian grandfather breaks record for oldest footballer
Ezzeldin Bahader has played his second professional football match in Egypt, qualifying him for the world record as the world’s oldest pro footballer at the age of 75.
The Guinness Book of Records only recognizes footballers who have played 180 minutes professionally. Bahader completed his first 90 minutes for the team called October 6 in Egypt’s third tier back in March, even scoring a penalty, and has now completed his second full match.
The father of four and grandfather of six overtakes Israeli Isaak Hayik’s record, who played in goal for Ironi Or Yehuda at the age of 73 last year.

Two Hoffenheim players test positive
Ahead of the Bundesliga match against Borussia Dortmund on Saturday, two Hoffenheim players have tested positive for COVID-19, the club confirmed on Friday.
According to the club, the two players returned positive tests after returning to Germany from international duty. They are said to be asymptomatic and in quarantine, having had no contact with other teammatesor staff members.
Giro d’Italia limps on amid coronavirus fears
After a number of riders tested positive for COVID-19 and two teams withdrew, doubts are growing as to whether this year’s Giro d’Italia can be safely completed. Team EF Pro Cycling have already demanded the race be abandoned, saying that the protective bubble around the teams has been “clearly damaged” and that “further infections” are to be expected.
Belgian rider Thomas De Gendt from team Lotto-Soudal said there had already been heated discussions within his team over whether or not to start Friday’s 12th stage, adding that he had heard fellow riders coughing in the peloton. “Things aren’t going well, we don’t feel safe,” he said. “In the end, you can’t concentrate. I am one of the riders who would prefer not to start.”
Organizers claim that the eight positive tests registered across five teams earlier this week, including British favorite Simon Yates, are proof that the hygiene concept works, with race director Mauro Vegni accusing individual teams of “carelessness in the bubble.”
“I think the organizers are hiding things,” said De Gendt. “There’s a lot of money on the line and it’s important for the sponsors that we make it to Milan.”

Ronaldo’s flight home to Italy questioned
Italy’s sports minister, Vincenzo Spadafora, says Cristiano Ronaldo may have breached COVID-19 protocol by returning home to Turin despite testing positive for the virus while on international duty.
The Juventus forward was ruled out of Portugal’s friendly against Sweden in Lisbon and forced into a period of self-isolation. Ronaldo traveled back to Italy on Wednesday evening by private jet.
Spadafora told Italian radio he may have broken health rules.
“Without authorisation from the health authorities, I think he has violated the protocol,” he said.
Juventus president Andrea Agnelli said no rules had been broken.
“You must call the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of the Interior and have them explain what has been violated,” Agnelli said during a news conference.
Juventus said on Wednesday that Ronaldo had returned on a medical flight “authorised by the competent health authorities”.
Hertha’s Matteo Guendouzi tests positive for COVID-19
Hertha Berlin midfielder Matteo Guendouzi has tested positive for coronavirus after returning from international duty with the French under-21 team. The 21-year-old remains asymptomatic and will spend ten days in quarantine, meaning he will miss his team’s Bundesliga home game against Stuttgart on Saturday and the trip to RB Leipzig a week later.
Guendouzi, who has joined Hertha on a season-long loan from Arsenal, will be eligible to finally make his debut against Wolfsburg on November 1.

German FA hits back over tax evasion accusations
A bizarre twist in the German Football Association’s current problems with the tax authorities, with reports suggesting the outstanding fees have already been paid.
The DFB has endured a rocky few days after tax authorities raided its headquarters and private apartments as part of a tax fraud investigation last week.
The public prosecutor’s office has accused six former or current DFB executives of deliberately submitting incorrect tax declarations relating to advertising revenues in 2014 and 2015, avoiding about €4.7 million ($5.52 million) in taxes.
Yet the Süddeutsche Zeitung newspaper reports that the association actually cleared up those tax irregularities in March 2019.
The DFB has so far failed to declare whether or not they settled the dispute previously.

Ronaldo tests positive for COVID-19
Juventus and Portugal soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo has tested positive for the coronavirus, according to a statement by the Portuguese soccer federation (FPF).
The statement said that Ronaldo was showing no COVID-19 symptoms and was in isolation, thus missing Wednesday’s Nations League match against Sweden. Due to isolation rules, he will also miss Juventus’ upcoming games in Serie A and the Champions League.
The FPF said that all other Portugal players underwent new coronavirus tests on Tuesday and all returned negative.
Golf star Johnson also tests positive
World number one golfer Dustin Johnson has withdrawn from this week’s CJ Cup after testing positive for COVID-19.
The 36-year-old American reported symptoms to the PGA Tour on the weekend and following a test will now begin to self-isolate.
“Obviously, I am very disappointed,” Johnson said. “I was really looking forward to competing this week, but will do everything I can to return as quickly as possible.

Rafael Nadal produced a vintage performance on Sunday to remain the king of the clay in Paris. The Spaniard’s flawless 6-0, 6-2, 7-5 win over Novak Djokovic brought him his 13th French Open title.
Perhaps more significantly though, Nadal’s win equalled Roger Federer’s record of 20 Grand Slam titles, the last of which the Swiss won at the 2018 Australian Open.
“Winning here means everything to me,” Nadal said on court straight after his win. “I don’t think today about equalling Roger’s record of 20 Grand Slams. For me, today is a Roland Garros victory. Roland Garros means everything to me… many of the important moments of my career have been here. The love story I have with this city and this court is unforgettable.”
The French Open usually starts in late May but was postponed until late September due to the coronavirus pandemic. And Nadal had some words of encouragement for the world’s fight against the virus.
“I want to send a message to all the people in the world,” Nadal said. “We are going through a tough moment with this virus, but everyone stay positive and we will beat it together.”

Poland’s Iga Swiatek has made history. The 19-year-old, who did not drop a set throughout the tournament, beat fourth seed Sofia Kenin 6-4 6-1 to win the 2020 French Open.
In doing so, the world number 54, became the first ever Grand Slam singles champion from Poland, the youngest French Open winner since 1992 and the ninth first-time champion in the past 14 Grand Slams.

The 2021 Tokyo Marathon has been postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The race was to be held next March, but organizers said Friday that the race would now take place on October 17 instead, two months after the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, another event which was pushed to July 2021 due to the pandemic.
The organizers said they were “carefully reviewing plans that will adhere to the situation surrounding COVID-19,” and that they’ll do everything in their powers to “deliver a safe and secure event.”
Around 38,000 participants from around the world were to take part.

Özil not named in Arsenal’s Europa League squad
Mesut Ozil’s ostracization at Arsenal went to a new level Thursday when he was left off the team’s Europa League squad list for this season.
The 31-year-old Ozil hasn’t played for Arsenal since football started in June amid the coronavirus pandemic, leaving his future at the club in question.
Asked recently why Ozil _ one of the club’s highest-paid players, reportedly at more than $20 million a year, was out of favor, Arteta said: “The team is evolving, you can see the level they are achieving.”
Mercedes team member tests positive for COVID-19
Formula One champions Mercedes reported on Thursday that a member of their team had tested positive for COVID-19 but a spokesman said drivers Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas were clear.
“We can confirm that a team member has tested positive,” said a spokesman. “This has been handled and is being handled in line with FIA protocols, working closely with the FIA,” he added, without giving further details.
Six times world champion Hamilton leads Bottas in the championship by 44 points after 10 races.
Lack of fans factor in ‘crazy’ football results
Wolverhampton Wanderers captain Conor Coady believes the absence of crowds at stadiums is a major factor behind the surprising scorelines seen in the Premier League this season.
“Honestly, they are mad, the scorelines,” said Coady. “It’s a tough one to put your finger on, it really is. You look at it at the start of the season, some teams are ahead of others in terms of fitness, in terms of having a pre-season.
“The teams that have been in European competition obviously haven’t had that … so that might play a bit of a factor. I think fans play a big factor… I think we all want them back as soon as possible.”
Long-distance world records broken
Uganda’s Joshua Cheptegei and Ethiopia’s Letesenbet Gidey shattered the long-standing world records in the men’s 10,000 metres and women’s 5,000m in Valencia on Wednesday at an event dubbed ‘World Record Day’.
The 24-year-old Cheptegei ran a provisional 26 minutes 11.02 seconds in metronomic fashion to better the 26:17.53 minutes by Ethiopian legend Kenenisa Bekele from 2005. Gidey claimed the women’s 5,000m world record of her compatriot Tirunesh Dibaba by running 14:06.62 minutes.

Kvitova clinches semifinal berth at French Open
Petra Kvitova returned to the French Open semifinals for the first time in eight years on Wednesday after defeating Germany’s Laura Siegemund 6-3, 6-3, describing Roland Garros as her “lucky place.”
“It means a lot to be back in the semi-finals,” said 30-year-old Kvitova who was beaten by eventual champion Maria Sharapova when she made the same stage in 2012.
“After my last match, I was very emotional to be in the quarter-finals. Now I am in the semis. I never imagined this would happen after everything that has happened. This is my lucky place.”
Global Rapid Rugby cancels 2021 season
The 2021 season for the franchise-based Global Rapid Rugby (GRR) competition has been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, officials said on Wednesday.
The competition, backed by Australian billionaire Andrew Forrest, had suspended its inaugural season after one round due to the pandemic before cancelling it entirely in April.
German FA in tax evasion probe
The German Football Association (DFB) headquarters and the homes of DFB officials have been searched on suspicion of tax evasion, Frankfurt prosecutors say.
It said six former and current officials of the DFB were suspected of having intentionally falsely declared income from advertising inside soccer stadiums during certain matches in 2014 and 2015 as income from asset management, leading to an evasion of 4.7 million euros ($5.52 million) worth of taxes.

Sancho apologises for party
Still in hot water with club and country over his flouting of coronavirus protocols, Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho took to social media to issue an apology.
“I would like to apologise for breaking the government guidelines and although I was unaware upon arriving of the numbers attending, I take full responsibility for my actions. I will make sure that I learn from this,” the 20-year-old said in a statement on Instagram.
England have delayed the call-ups of Sancho, Ben Chilwell and Tammy Abraham, whose birthday they were celebrating.
World #131 into semis at French Open
Argentina’s Nadia Podoroska became the first qualifier in the Open era on Tuesday to make the women’s semi-finals at Roland Garros after stunning third seed Elina Svitolina 6-2, 6-4.
World number 131 Podoroska had never won a Grand Slam main draw match before the tournament and is the first Argentine woman to reach the last four of a major since Paola Suarez in Paris in 2004. The 23-year-old Podoroska will play Polish teenager Iga Swiatek or Italian qualifier Martina Trevisan for a place in Saturday’s final.
Match-fixing probe at French Open
French police are investigating possible offences of organized fraud and sporting corruption linked to the French open, the Paris prosecutor’s office said on Tuesday.
The confirmation came a day after German newspaper Die Welt and French sports newspaper L’Equipe reported that police were looking into a first-round match in the women’s doubles competition. The reports said that one particular game in the match in question had aroused suspicions.

Jadon Sancho in hot water with Dortmund and England
Borussia Dortmund have announced that they are “in close contact with the English FA and the representatives of the national team,” following the publication of pictures showing Jadon Sancho at a party in London.
The winger was celebrating the birthday of Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham at an event that flouted the recent coronavirus restrictions put in place in England. Sancho missed BVB’s last two games due to “throat infection” and the club are reportedly decidedly unimpressed with the 20-year-old’s decision to attend.
Meanwhile, there have also been calls for Sancho, Abraham and other England national team members in attendance to be dropped for the upcoming internationals.
Germany’s Siegemund reaches French Open quarterfinals
Germany’s world number 66 Laura Siegemund reached her first Grand Slam quarter-final on Monday, but garnered attention for more than just the result after ordering a plate of food to be delivered to her on court.
“I was trying to get some carbs in. I tried the bar. Couldn’t get it down really. I tried,” said Siegemund after her 7-5, 6-2 win over Badosa on Court Simonne-Mathieu. “I asked my physio to bring me something else. I just wanted to get some carb, some potato or rice.”
Energised by her food intake, she won 10 of the last 12 games to set up a quarter-final clash against seventh seed and two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova.
Turkish Grand Prix will be without fans
Next month’s Turkish Grand Prix will be held without spectators because of the coronavirus pandemic, the Istanbul government said on Monday. Turkey has registered nearly 325,000 coronavirus infections and more than 8,400 deaths.
The race, the 14th of 17 in Formula One this season, will return to Istanbul after a nine year absence on November 15.
Crazy scenes in Karting World Championships
A video that has to be seen to be believed. At the FIA Karting World Championship final at the Lonato circuit, Luca Corberi – whose family operate the venue – ended up throwing his bumper at a rival before ignoring marshals as he stormed off across the track after an incident knocked him out of the race.
October 4
Zverev out of French Open
Alexander Zverev was knocked out by 19-year-old Italian Jannik Sinner, playing his first Roland Garros, 6-3, 6-3, 4-6, 6-3. Sinner’s reward is a quarterfinal against the king of clay, Rafa Nadal. Zverev meanwhile, says he wasn’t feeling well.

German qualifier serves up career best
Daniel Altmaier, ranked 186th in the world, beat seventh seed Matteo Berrettini in the French Open 6-2, 7-6, 6-4.
The 22-year-old was not even sure he would make his debut at Roland Garros as he was struggling with an injury and needed a go-ahead from a doctor at the last minute to take part in the qualifiers.

Bundesliga player tests positive for COVID-19
Wolfsburg’s Renato Steffen has tested positive for COVID-19, the club announced early on Friday evening. The Swiss, who is asymptomatic, has gone into quarantine at home and will miss Sunday’s game against Augsburg as well as the international fixtures next week.
German sides handed Europa groups
After Wolfsburg fell in the qualifiers, Hoffenheim and Bayer Leverkusen were handed their Europa League draws on Friday.
In a tougher draw than they would have hoped for, Leverkusen, seeded in pot 1, will play Czech outfit Slavia Prague, Hapoel beer Sheva, of Israel, and French outfit Nice.
Hoffenheim, seeded third, perhaps got away a little lighter. They will play Gent (Belgium), Crvena Zvezda (Serbia) and Slovan Liberec (Czech Republic). The full fixtures will be announced later on Friday.
Löw names squad for triple header
After their Champions League exertions caused them to miss Germany’s previous matches, Bayern Munich quartet Joshua Kimmich, Manuel Neuer, Leon Goretzka and Serge Gnabry return to the fold.
But they, along with RB Leipzig pair Marcel Halstenberg and Lukas Klostermann, will only be available for the Nations League games with Ukraine (October 10) and Switzerland (October 13) and not the friendly with Turkey next Wednesday.
Three games in such a short space of time given the current packed schedule has led Löw to name 29 players in his squad. Fringe players like Nadiem Amiri, Robin Koch, Luca Waldschmidt, Florian Neuhaus and Niklas Stark will hope for opportunities while there are maiden callups for Borussia Dortmund’s Mahmoud Dahoud and Jonas Hofman, of Borussia Mönchengladbach.

US soccer team forfeits match over alleged homophobia
San Diego Loyal players walked off the pitch in a second division game against Phoenix Rising after a homophobic comment was allegedly aimed at midfielder Collin Martin, who is openly gay.
San Diego, who are managed and owned by former US international Landon Donovan, had already forfeited a match against LA Galaxy’s reserves the previous week after midfielder Elijah Martin was the victim of alleged racist abuse.
“We went through a really hard incident last week in the LA match,” said Donovan, who also made a handful of Bundesliga appearances for Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munich. “We made a vow to ourselves, to our community, to our players, to the club, to USL, that we would not stand for bigotry, homophobic slurs, things that don’t belong in our game.”
Despite leading 3-1 at half-time, San Diego thus forfeited a chance of reaching the playoffs. Opponents Phoenix Rising said the alleged perpetrator “vehemently denied” the allegations.
Bundesliga clubs criticize international matches
Ahead of next week’s international break, several Bundesliga club bosses have issued scathing criticism of FIFA and the German Football League (DFL) over the issue of sending their players on international duty in regions considered coronavirus risk areas, resulting in quarantine upon their return.
In September, for instance, Hertha Berlin striker Krzysztof Piatek had to quarantine for five days after playing for Poland in Bosnia, and missed Hertha’s German Cup defeat to Eintracht Braunschweig. At the time, FIFA had relaxed regulations obliging clubs to release players for internationals in regions considered COVID-19 hot-spots, but no such steps have been taken this time.
“We learned in September that we, the clubs, are left high and dry,” said Hertha boss Michael Preetz. “We release our players, we pay our players and, in the case of Krzysztof, we were left footing the bill. Ultimately, nobody was prepared to fight our corner. We realized that we can’t count on any help from the DFL or FIFA.”
“For me, it’s absurd to send players to risk areas,” added Augsburg’s Stefan Reuter. “It is FIFA’s responsibility either to postpone these matches or guarantee that players don’t need to quarantine when they return.”
Germany face Ukraine in the Nations League in Kiev on October 10, but local authorities in Germany have already stated that players will be exempt from quarantine regulations given the security and isolation measures in place in the Ukrainian capital.

Preview
When Texas A&M so ceremoniously welcomed Jimbo Fisher to College Station three years ago, it was with the expectation that he would be the one to finally harness the tremendous amount of resources available to the Aggie program and take them to the mountain top. Aggie fans, for the most part, have been patient, understanding that he would need a couple of years to build the program to his liking and before being able to compete with the best in the SEC.
The honeymoon is over. It’s time for Jimbo to start winning.
No team in the SEC returns as much production in 2020 as the Texas A&M Aggies, most notably at quarterback where Kellen Mond enters his fourth and final year as the Aggies starter. He best represents Texas A&M’s program and it’s inconsistency over the past three seasons. At times, Mond looks like the elite QB so many analysts want him to be. Deftly navigating the pocket to avoid pressure before launching an accurate missile 50 yards down field for a touchdown. Then just a possession later he will revert to a panicked freshman, unable to see the whole field, resulting in a stalled offense and a very frustrated fanbase.
A&M is hoping it all comes together for Mond in 2020. I don’t think Jimbo Fisher did him many favors last fall, stubbornly sticking to his preferred 12 or 21 personnel instead of going four wide with that stable of wide receivers and allowing Mond to play at pace. Auburn fans saw the difference in how Mond operates in those two systems last fall when Auburn’s defense smothered the Aggies for 3 quarters only to be shredded in the 4th when Jimbo finally abandoned his poor game plan. I don’t expect Jimbo to deviate too much from his philosophy so it’s key that Mond continues to improve as a pro style pocket passer if A&M’s offense is going to be effective against better defenses.
For Fisher’s offense to be great, it typically needs an elite running back and an elite tight end to go with a top notch quarterback. I am not sure they have either in 2020 but they do have some intriguing players at those spots.
Isaiah Spiller returns at tailback following a solid freshman debut. Jashaun Corbin was supposed to be the man in 2019 but an injury sidelined him for the year opening the door for Spiller. Corbin has since transferred out so Spiller looks set to be the bellcow once again this fall. However, one of the young standouts last season at wide receiver, Ainas Smith, is moving to tailback this fall. He could provide some competition for Spiller at running back. At the least, he should add a home run threat to the backfield.
Tight end is interesting as well. Sophomore Jalen Wydermeyer returns following a solid freshman season. He lead the team in receiving touchdowns and finished #3 in receptions and yards. But he was not the true freshman expected to make an impact at that spot. In the 2019 class, A&M signed the nation’s #1 ranked tight end in Baylor Cupp. But the former top 100 prospect missed all of 2019 with an injury. He will be back in 2020 and likely a major factor in this offense. Don’t be surprised to see the Aggies operate a lot out of 12 personnel to get both Wydermeyer and Cupp on the field at the same time.
The Aggies receiving corps is the one position that will undergo a somewhat major makeover. Yes, leading receiver Jhamon Ausbon is back but Quartney Davis and Kendrick Rogers are both gone. However, Texas A&M signed an outstanding WR class last cycle that included 5-star Demond Demas who is expected to compete for immediate playing time.
But all this returning talent at the skill positions won’t matter if A&M’s offensive line doesn’t get much better. All five starters return, four of which are seniors but this is a group that struggled mightily at times in 2020, especially in terms of protecting Kellen Mond. If the Aggies offense is going to take a major leap this fall, it has to start up front.
Per SP+, A&M fielded a top 25 defense last fall and return plenty of important pieces. Justin Madubuike is gone but big Bobby Brown returns to anchor the middle of the Aggies line along with pass rushers Demarvin Leal, Michael Clemmons and Tyree Johnson.
At the 2nd level of this defense, starting backers Anthony Hines and Buddy Johnson are back. They are extremely aggressive defenders who excel at causing havoc in opposing backfields. However, that aggression can sometimes lead to big plays off misdirection as A&M learned the hard way last fall against Auburn.

— PFF College (@PFF_College) June 25, 2020
The secondary has been the weaker part of this defense the past few seasons but there is optimism it could be transforming into a strength. A number of starters return including Myles Jones, Demani Richardson and Leon O’Neal Jr. The Aggies also signed the nation’s top ranked safety in the 2020 class in 5-star Jaylon Jones who will likely see some early playing time.
This is by far the easiest schedule Jimbo Fisher has faced since arriving in College Station. Clemson is replaced by Colorado as the Aggies Power 5 out of conference opponent and they are set to face South Carolina and Vanderbilt in the East. Yes, they must travel to Auburn and Tuscaloosa but this as easy as it’s going to get in terms of schedule for Fisher.
With all this returning production, an easier schedule and some strong recruiting classes, it’s easy to see why hype is building for A&M to be Alabama’s top challenger in 2020. But I still have some major questions about this Aggie offensive line and personnel fit for Jimbo’s system. We will see if this is the year it all finally clicks for Fisher and he justifies that giant contract. Because next season, A&M is going to have to replace A LOT, so it better happen in 2020 or things might start getting uncomfortable in College Station.

Talking Tickets: 21 February 2020--MLB! NBA! NHL! And More!
Hey everybody!
How’s your week? Let me know!
If you haven’t had a chance to fill out my short survey yet, I’d appreciate it if you’d take 3-4 minutes to share your thoughts and ideas so that I can make sure this newsletter and the podcast continue to deliver value to y’all.
Anytime you want to say hello or share something with me, you can always reply to this email…you definitely will get a response from a live human.
To the tickets!
————————————————————————————————————
1. MLB continues to struggle to put the Astros’ sign-stealing scandal in the rearview mirror:
My frustration with baseball is that they just are always on the back foot to use a soccer term.
This week really highlighted the challenge that is going to have for the game to ever right its ship.
I know they report that they are making more money than ever, but from an attendance standpoint, reporting tickets distributed while Twitter is showing you stadiums sitting there with 3,000-5,000 fans a lot of nights isn’t a great look.
Compare MLB’s reaction to the Astros scandal with the way that Man City’sbreach of Financial Fair Play in Europe is being handled and you see a leadership gap, which hasn’t been helped by the Rob Manfred trying to throw the blame everywhere but his office.
From a marketing standpoint, a tough situation, selling baseball in a crowded market, has gotten more difficult.
I’ll type up some more thoughts about this on my blog, but here are a few actionable things:
1. Stop digging. Rob Manfred’s PR team shouldn’t keep running him out there if he is just saying the same things. If you find yourself in a PR crisis, please don’t just start saying crazy things.
2. Step back and focus on how you are going to move forward. Just speaking about the scandal in the past tense isn’t very effective. You have to have a clear plan for moving forward.
In any organization, change begins by sharing a compelling vision for the future. This is obviously a challenge for MLB and all the teams, not just the ones directly implicated in the scandal. The teams need some leadership and a vision for how this ends and how the game gets back on the front foot, their partners and sponsors need this, and their fans and customers deserve it.
3. I’ve worked with teams that have won the World Series and one of the coolest things from my teenage years was making friends with a member of the World Series winning Big Red Machine teams and going over to my friend’s house to see his replica trophies.
Don’t slag on your trophies, ever. Those trophies represent much of the power and emotional connection your fans have to your sport and if you are crapping on that, why are people supposed to even care?
2. The NBA is seeing some financial challenges from their dust-up with China:
I’ve had the flu this week and I haven’t had the voice to record the intro to a new, updated episode with Greg Turner about doing business in China, but if you can make out anything from the first episode, it would be how this was to be expected. (Technical difficulties due to the firewall in China’s internets caused the first episode to be a big disjointed.)
It seems like the NBA is reporting taking about a 4% hit on revenue this year due to standing up for their beliefs in dealing with China.
In a world where brands are all shouting about how “cause marketing” is so important, real cause marketing means you put your bottom line on the line. The NBA did that, on purpose or not.
To me, the more problematic situation that the NBA is facing right now is a ratings slump at the local level with the Warriors falling 66% and the average team down 13%. Which mirror a slump in the NBA’s ratings this year despite a jump in viewership for this year’s All-Star Game.
Right now, we see the NFL rushing to finish up a new labor deal so that they can negotiate their next round of TV deals while extreme premiums are still likely to be had.
My concern is that losing ratings for a season isn’t going to harm the NBA too much, but if the trend of NBA viewing continues to lag, the issues in China become a multi-year challenge, and maybe you have some more injuries, retirements, or other on-court issues…the revenue becomes challenged. And, that trickles down to raising ticket prices, concessions, and merchandise to levels that to higher levels than they are now.
I mean, you’re already seeing in New Orleans with Zion.
As we’ve seen since the online shopping has become so prominent, we have trained consumers to wait and shop for deals. We’ve also seen an entire generation of marketers and business folks that have become almost blindly committed to managing by spreadsheet while consumer spending on experiences has increased dramatically.
TV viewership is a fickle beast. Live by the sword, die by the sword…I guess.
The real focus here has to be on creating communities of fans around teams, communities, stories, and experiences. These can absolutely happen online and offline.
P.S. The NHL is having hiccups as well. This can be even more problematic because the NHL probably would benefit from more television exposure.
3. Rage Against The Machine is raising money for charity and taking on the secondary market:
I’m going to guess that the Rage Against The Machine tour is going to be interesting. It is their first tour in a decade. It is an election year. It seems like a perfect storm for them, yeah?
This idea that Rage is going to thwart the secondary market would seem consistent with their ethos. Raising money for charities also seems on brand.
Where the big challenge comes in, is whether or not the charity pricing aspect was explained clearly at the start.
Pearl Jam does a similar thing with their charity tickets that support their Vitalogy Foundation. They handle it slightly differently, which I think helps with the messaging and the fan blowback.
To me, this is just a situation where if you have a fan base and you can sell the tickets directly with no issues at all, sell. But today’s consumer also has a higher expectation of transparency…so that if you are going to institute a charity program like Rage to fight the secondary market, just share that at the start.
BTW, where did Tom Morello get his “85% of the secondary market” comment anyway?
And, Don Vaccaro and TicketNetwork have committed to donating all their service fees from the first 3 shows in March to National Action Network, the civil-rights organization founded by the Reverend Al Sharpton.
4. Congress is going to continue to investigate the world of tickets:
Just as I trying to close out this week’s newsletter, this news came down the pipe. So, on February 26th, 2020, Congress is going to hold a hearing on tickets.
This comes on the heels of a letter being released that Pearl Jam sent to Representative Frank Pallone Jr on Wednesday saying that the BOSS act will hurt consumers and pointing to transferability and transparency of the number of tickets being on sale would be bad for consumers.
After the release of Pearl Jam’s letter, Bill Pascrell sent out a release of his own rejecting Pearl Jam’s feedback on the BOSS act.
This continued investigation of the ticket business is a global trend. Last week, I talked about the CMA in the UK halting the Viagogo & StubHub merger due to their concerns, even as the US government approved the deal despite these objections.
And, this week, news out of Australia shows that people are rallying around an Information Standard in regards to the secondary market.
Along with the UK government stating they will investigate the illegal resale of football tickets in the UK after a report in the Guardian uncovered the ins and outs of massive football ticket resale.
As for how do you approach this story:
* Pay attention to what comes out of next week’s hearing. I stated at the time of the workshop in June of 2019 that I felt like this would be an issue that would hang over the industry through the election because it is easy for both sides to beat down on ticket sellers, technology companies, resellers, and everyone involved in the industry directly or indirectly. Fun for the whole family.
* I’d also pay attention to what gets defined as “consumer” friendly. I’m on the side of giving Pearl Jam the benefit of the doubt. They’ve worked pretty hard and taken steps that definitely haven’t been in their own best interests to do what was right for their fans, but I’m also conscious of unintended consequences.
5. Red Bull shows how to grow a team from the ground up:
RB Leipzig beat Spurs 1-0 on Wednesday! (Just adding to the suffering of having the flu. You think Dele was mad…try watching a poor showing while barely keeping your eyes open and feeling like reheated death!)
But this story is really great in the context of the continuing story of the Astros scandal in the States, Man City in Europe, and Thursday’s news of the arrest of PSG’s president for bribery.
Closer to home for me, it highlights what is possible with vision as the Mets are for sale and the sale has started to have its own amount of drama…and, as the Knicks continue to struggle at MSG.
3 things here:
1. Vision is so important. Melbourne FC just released a plan this week for their fans. It was called out on Australian radio, but without a plan and a vision…you don’t ever reach your potential.
2. Winning matters, but community is powerful. I’ve given this speech on 3 continents now…but you can’t just sell winning, you need to build a community. Leipzig is showing that now and we can see in a lot of places that there is a thing like winning fatigue. Or, in the case of the Warriors, a new arena and a lot of winning aren’t going to fix a bad season in every case.
3. Marketing matters: Red Bull’s involvement in sports and the way they have managed their teams shows that they understand the value of marketing and they understand that great brands, teams, and organizations aren’t built in a day.
While their teams haven’t been successful 100% of the time, they have been consistent and have continued to focus on their vision, their values, and their message over and over. That’s something we can all learn from. —————————————————————————————————————-

A 2019 Browns timeline, from playoff hype to train wreck
Baker Mayfield and Odell Beckham Jr. haven’t lived up to their lofty expectations.
The Browns couldn’t handle the weight of expectation.
The Cleveland Browns haven’t been to the playoffs since 2002. They will be the only team to finish the entire 2010s decade without a single winning season. It really shouldn’t be surprising that a team defined by ineptitude had a rough season.
But 2019 was supposed to be different.
The Browns were a Super Bowl favorite. After trading for three-time Pro Bowl receiver Odell Beckham Jr., Cleveland had 14-1 odds to win its first ever Lombardi Trophy. Only four teams — the Patriots, Chiefs, Saints, and Rams — were given a better chance by oddsmakers. Bets on the Browns poured in.
Those expectations turned out to be too a heavy burden for the Browns to bear. First-year head coach Freddie Kitchens has struggled to deal with the pressure that comes with a talented roster. Browns players haven’t done well handling the frustration that comes with not stringing together wins.
How did all go wrong?
Cleveland’s 2019 season has been a slow-moving train wreck that keeps getting worse as the calendar approaches its end. Here’s all the dysfunction of the Browns in 2019, with the latest drama right at the top:
Dec. 18: Beckham and Landry deny reports that they’ve asked to be rescued
There have been reports of Beckham telling multiple teams to “come get him” out of Cleveland. According to NFL Network reporter Mike Silver, the problem runs much deeper than just one player.
More fallout from the Jarvis Landry tirade during the Browns-Cardinals game: I'm told by two sources that before the game ended, 'multiple' Browns players yelled at the Arizona sideline to 'come get me'--asking to come play for the Cardinals. Landry, I'm told, was one of them.
— Michael Silver (@MikeSilver) December 16, 2019
The Arizona Cardinals are a four-win team in last place in the NFC West. It says a lot if multiple Browns players would rather play there instead of Cleveland.
Jarvis Landry disputed the report, though.
#Browns WR Jarvis Landry vehemently denied NFL Network report that stated he told #AZCardinals sideline “come get me.” Landry said he would never do that and the accusation bothers him.
— Nate Ulrich (@ByNateUlrich) December 18, 2019
Beckham also pushed back against talks of him wanting out. He told reporters he plans on being a member of the Browns for the foreseeable future.
Odell Beckham Jr. on the future: “I’m not going anywhere. I’ll be here.” Said “it’s too special” and he wants to see things through with the Browns.
— PatMcManamon (@PatMcManamon) December 18, 2019
Beckham signed a five-year, $90 million contract extension with the Giants, but played just one season under that deal before he was traded to the Browns. Now Cleveland has Beckham under contract until after the 2023 season. The Browns can keep Beckham in Cleveland for several years, whether he actually wants to be there or not.
Dec. 15: Landry and Kitchens hash it out in a sideline spat
The tirade that sparked rumors of Landry wanting out came during the Browns’ 38-24 loss to the Cardinals. The receiver was seen having a not-so-friendly conversation with Kitchens on the sideline.
#Browns Jarvis Landry voicing some...umm...frustration with Freddie Kitchens. pic.twitter.com/tFtEkHDFyC
— Jon Doss (@JonDoss) December 15, 2019
It doesn’t take an expert lip reader to determine Landry wasn’t telling Kitchens he’s doing a great job. Landry later said he “asked for the ball to try to get involved in the game to help.”
Hours before that costly Week 15 loss, NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport said Kitchens’ job is probably safe:
But as of right now, barring a horrific collapse or circumstance to end the season, it appears the Browns will be moving forward with Kitchens.
The Browns’ playoff hopes were probably toast, regardless. A loss to the Cardinals pushed Cleveland into need-a-miracle territory. It remains to see if that counts as “a horrific collapse or circumstance.”
Dec. 11: Rashard Higgins laughs off Kitchens keeping him off the field
Kitchens defended the lack of snaps for Rashard Higgins, by telling reporters that the Browns receiver didn’t give the team its best chance to win.
#Browns HC Freddie Kitchens on limited snaps for WR Rashard Higgins this past week: "We try to play the players that give us the best chance to win each and every week...and that's strictly a week-to-week thing."
— Keith Britton (@KeithBritton86) December 11, 2019
Higgins has just four receptions on the year after breaking out as a reliable target for Baker Mayfield in 2018. He finished that season with 572 receiving yards and four touchdowns. Higgins seemingly responded to Kitchens’ comments with a tweet later that day.
— Wood (@CALLME_WOOD) December 11, 2019
Higgins is due to become a free agent after the 2019 season.
Dec. 8: A report says Beckham is trying to get traded
Jay Glazer of FOX Sports reported that Beckham has made it known he wants out of Cleveland.
Does Odell Beckham Jr. really want out of Cleveland? @JayGlazer has the latest: pic.twitter.com/5XEDYj6Iba
— FOX Sports: NFL (@NFLonFOX) December 8, 2019
“Odell Beckham has actually told other players and coaches before games and during games ‘Hey, come get me, come get me,’” Glazer says. “I don’t see that relationship ending well for them after this year.”
That report came two days after Beckham insisted on Twitter that he isn’t looking to get out Cleveland.
Ok ... I NEVER said I was not happy in Cleveland, just like everyone else I’m hopeful for better results. Period. Next story plzz ...
— Odell Beckham Jr (@obj) December 6, 2019
Rapoport reported that Beckham has been playing through a sports hernia that will require offseason surgery to repair. Mayfield told reporters that the injury “wasn’t handled right.” He immediately backtracked from that comments and tweeted that he didn’t mean to throw the team’s medical staff under the bus.
Nov. 30: A starting safety is mysteriously held out for a key game
Browns safety Damarious Randall was held out of a pivotal divisional game against the Steelers due to what was called “a coaching decision.” It was because of “something that happened during the week,” according to Cleveland.com.
Steelers rookie quarterback Devlin Hodges completed only 14 passes, but racked up 212 yards against the thin Browns secondary in a 20-13 win. Cleveland had a chance to climb back to .500 and deal Pittsburgh a devastating blow. Instead, it put the Steelers in a good position to land a spot in the postseason.
Nov. 15: Myles Garrett gets an indefinite suspension for an ugly fight
The Browns’ 2019 season has been defined by a lack of discipline.
The culmination of that problem was a fight in the final seconds of a 21-7 win for the Browns over the Steelers. More specifically, it was Cleveland’s star pass rusher Myles Garrett ripping off the helmet of Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph and bashing him over the head with it.
This is all ugly pic.twitter.com/9WQzcjZCCj
— CJ Fogler (@cjzero) November 15, 2019
Garrett claimed Rudolph used a racial slur, but the NFL said it found no evidence of that claim. Rudolph received a sizable fine, Browns defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi was suspended one game, and Steelers offensive lineman Maurkice Pouncey was suspended three games.
Garrett unsurprisingly received the worst punishment, an indefinite suspension that runs through the remainder of the 2019 season and potentially beyond. He’ll have to apply for reinstatement during the offseason.
Oct. 7: Baker Mayfield finishes a MNF loss with a 13.4 passer rating
Mayfield finished a 31-3 loss to the 49ers watching from the sideline. In a Monday Night Football showcase, he completed just 8 of 22 passes for 100 yards with two interceptions. Mayfield was pulled with just over five minutes left and the loss dropped the Browns to 2-3.
He was also sacked four times and fumbled twice behind a porous offensive line.
Sept. 8: Browns OT Greg Robinson is ejected for a dangerous kick
The Browns’ season started with dark clouds immediately. The Titans ran away with a 43-13 blowout win and Cleveland’s starting left tackle, Greg Robinson, was ejected for kicking safety Kenny Vaccaro in the face.
welp, the Browns will have to play the second half without their starting left tackle. Greg Robinson ejected for kicking Kenny Vaccaro right in the face pic.twitter.com/y324hpluQ7
— Christian D'Andrea (@TrainIsland) September 8, 2019
Robinson wasn’t suspended for the kick, but he struggled to protect Mayfield’s blindside all season.
June 4: Baker Mayfield calls out Duke Johnson for wanting out of Cleveland
Browns running back Duke Johnson showed up for offseason activities, but made it clear that he hoped for a trade out of Cleveland.
Duke Johnson Jr. explains his trade request & why he doesn’t feel wanted by #Browns anymore pic.twitter.com/EyRQ5MNiaY
— Daryl Ruiter (@RuiterWrongFAN) June 4, 2019
That’s not an especially unique situation. Johnson was one of a handful of players across the NFL that held out or voiced displeasure with their current team and/or contract. It also wasn’t too surprising that Kitchens put his foot down and said Johnson was going to be part of the Browns offense, whether he likes it or not.
However, it did raise eyebrows when Mayfield spoke out against his teammate.
#Browns Baker Mayfield on Duke wanting to be traded: “You’re either on this train or your not”
— Mary Kay Cabot (@MaryKayCabot) June 4, 2019
That comment reportedly didn’t sit well with everyone in the locker room.
As I just stated on @nflnetwork: According to multiple sources, several veteran Browns players approached Baker Mayfield in the locker room after the young QB's critical comments about RB Duke Johnson to register their displeasure, and they hashed out their differences.
— Michael Silver (@MikeSilver) June 13, 2019
The situation was smoothed out for good when Johnson was traded to the Texans in August.
Bad luck has played a factor in the Browns’ subpar season too. Beckham hasn’t been 100 percent for most of, if not all of, the season. Other significant injuries include ones that have kept players like Christian Kirksey, David Njoku, Olivier Vernon, and Morgan Burnett out of action.
But the frustrating year will likely be remembered for the in-fighting and drama that continued to bubble up as the season went on. That cost the Browns a promising season and could also cost Kitchens his job.

Projecting all the offseason moves for the Chicago Bears
Brace Hemmelgarn-USA TODAY Sports
The Chicago Bears offseason is upon us and because of that, it’s time to let the imagination fly. Even so, this is a team that is currently tight against the cap and will still have more movement before they can spend with any sort of impact, if that is indeed the plan.
There’s plenty that can happen in an offseason, so I’m going to do my best to project a combination of what I think general manager Ryan Pace would do and what I would do as well.
Without further ado, let’s jump into this head first.
Current Cap Space: $18.146 million
This includes every currently announced cut and I also projected Cody Parkey’s cut in here as well, since there will be no additional cap penalties in 2019 because of the June 1st designation. This also includes the $2.5 million cap credit from Mike Glennon’s 2018 offset language.
Cap Savers: (+$12.751 million)
Mike DiNovo-USA TODAY Sports
Restructure Khalil Mack. (+$8.396 million)
By converting Mack’s $11.3 million base salary into a signing bonus, it would allow the Bears to save a maximum of $8.3 million. That would include a sixth year minimum salary and spreading the remaining dead cap over a five-year period, which would start this year.
Extend Chase Daniel (+$2.33 million)
By giving Daniel a two year extension (two years, $8 million), the team could also turn around and convert his $4 million base salary into a signing bonus. After a minimum salary benefit and the proration of the bonus, it would allow them to save around $2.33 million in 2019.
Trade Jordan Howard (+$1.535 million after rule of 51)
This is a move the Bears should only make after finding his replacement(s). I’m projecting that the Bears will trade Howard and a 2020 sixth-round pick to the Buffalo Bills for their fourth round comp pick (#132). This saves money and makes the most sense for both sides if Pace feels comfortable with the return.
Notes: Converting Mack’s base salary into a bonus is somewhat of a risk, but even an extra $2 million in dead space over the next five years isn’t going to cripple them, especially when the cap has continued to rise by $10-$12 million each year.
Total Cap Space: $30.38 million
Internal Free Agents (8)
2019 MOCK FREE AGENCY
Mike DiNovo-USA TODAY Sports
CB Bryce Callahan (Four years, $26 million with $12 million guaranteed) $4.75 million hit (Comp: Bobby McCain)
WR Josh Bellamy (Two years, $3.5 million with $1.1M guaranteed) $1.5 million hit (Comp: Sherrick McManis)
G Bryan Witzmann (Two years, $3 million with $600,000 guaranteed) $1.25 million hit (Comp: Eric Kush)
LS Patrick Scales (Three years, $3.5 million with $1.25M guaranteed) $1 million hit (Comp: Mike Windt)
TE Ben Braunecker (One year, $900,00 with $150,000 guaranteed) $900,000 hit (Comp: Daniel Brown)
S DeAndre Houston-Carson (One year, $700,000) $700,000 hit
DL Roy Robertson-Harris (one year, $650,000 (ERFA) $650,000 hit
RT Rashaad Coward (one year, $650,000) (ERFA) $650,000 hit
Notes: This is going to be an interesting group to follow. It’s quite possible that the Bears could end up retaining both Adrian Amos and Callahan after hitting the market, especially with how packed both markets are at their respective positions. The Bears have been vocal about wanting to retain both, and judging by the lack of reported buzz from both players at the combine, this seems more and more realistic. Even so, I’m still going to make this a safer projection and assume that just one of the two comes back.
Total Spent (after the rule of 51): (-$6.87 million)
Current Cap Space: $23.567 million
Primary Outside Free Agents (6)
Tommy Gilligan-USA TODAY Sports
OLB Terrell Suggs (Two years, $12 million with $5.5 million guaranteed) $5.5 million hit (Comp: Cam Wake)
RB T.J. Yeldon (Three years, $12 million with $6 million guaranteed) $3 million hit (Comp: Isaiah Crowell)
DB Brian Poole (Three years, $10.5 million with $4 million guaranteed) $2.5 million hit (Comp: Terrance Mitchell)
CB P.J. Williams (One year, $1.5 million with $500,000 guaranteed) $1.5 million hit (Comp: Marcus Cooper)
K Kai Forbath (One year, $1 million with $200K guaranteed) $1 million hit
WR De’Anthony Thomas (One year, $900,000 $150,000 guaranteed) $900,000 million hit
Notes: This isn’t going to be some extravagant offseason for the team like in previous years. They don’t have the resources to go out and sign multiple contracts in the $8-$10 million range, but that’s alright. Their holes will be minimal and the focus should be more about finding missing pieces in the short-term that can help push them team closer to a Super Bowl. It’s possible the Bears could do better at safety than Poole, but I have a feeling Pagano will want versatility, which the former Falcon brings. There’s also “better” options than Yeldon at running back, but stylistically, he fits like a glove. Maybe they’ll shell out $7 million per year for someone like Tevin Coleman, but I’ll keep my projection more conservative for the time being.
Total Spent (After rule of 51): (-$10.98 million)
Current Cap Space: $12.587 million
Extensions: (-$3 million)
Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports
Notes: At this point, a Whitehair extension has not only been widely speculation by names like Adam Jahns and Biggs, but it seems like a foregone conclusion this summer. It’s a no-brainer and speaks to Pace’s ability to land talent out of the first round.
Current Cap Space: $9.587 million
Draft Class (-$2.5 million)
2019 MOCK DRAFT
Reinhold Matay-USA TODAY Sports
3rd (#87): RB Miles Sanders (Penn St)
This is a running back class that simply didn’t test very well as a whole, but even so, there’s not a lot of first round talent, if any in this class. This should be a good thing for the Bears. Sanders is someone who didn’t originally pop to me on film, but the more and more I watched him, the more attractive he was. He’s a one-year starter with minimal miles. He doesn’t have a ton of long speed and may dance too much behind the line, but he has all the physical makings of a primary back in Nagy’s offense.
4th (#126): DB Amani Hooker (Iowa)
Much like the Poole signing, I expect the Bears to look for versatile options in the defensive backfield. Hooker can play in the nickel, either boundary spot or at strong safety. He’s someone that was used in multiple ways at Iowa and if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s to trust a good friend of mine who covers that team. He raves about Hooker and it’s easy to see why. Could be a plug and play starter from day one, but the Bears won’t need him to be.
4th (#132): TE Foster Moreau (LSU) Projected Trade with Buffalo
I’ve kicked a few different tight ends around at this pick. My other choice would have been Texas A&M product Jace Sternberger, but I find it hard to believe he’ll be sitting there in the late fourth, so enter Moreau. He’s not a crazy athletic kid, but he’s big, has steady hands and is an outstanding blocker. The Bears have invested heavy at the position, but this may be a needed addition.
5th (#162): WR Penny Hart (Georgia St)
Depending on who you talk to, receiver is either a bigger need than meets the eye or receiver is not a worry at all. I’m more in the middle. I don’t think they need to go out and spent big money or use a high pick, but finding Taylor Gabriel’s eventual replacement in the fifth-round wouldn’t be bad. Hart is smaller, but he’s very quick and could be used perfectly in Nagy’s offense.
7th (#222): K Matt Gay (Utah)
The Bears are likely to draft a kicker, seeing as how they have a pair of seventh round picks. Right now, the two kickers on the roster are Redford Jones and Chris Blewitt. Neither have NFL experience. Enter Gay, who has one hell of a leg.
7th (#238): OG Alex Bars (Notre Dame)
This pick is all about value and development. Kyle Long restructured his deal to help the team for a year, but has over a $9 million cap hit in 2020. Bars has experience with Harry Hiestand and could be a nice developmental pick or depth at worst.
Total Remaining Cap Space: $7.087 million
