Finding strength in the aftermath

And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.

Romans 8:28

This verse makes me think of Rose. She has been through some really hard times and she is only 10. She was abused when she was 4. Once the abuse was discovered she was taken into protective custody by DFCS and put into a foster home. She was moved to a few different foster homes then lived with an aunt and uncle. While it was a relief to know she was with family there was family drama that she ended up being put in the middle of. She finaly came to live with us when she was 6. Now she is with me and her dad full time, she sees her mom regularly and has a pretty stable life. She amazes me daily. She is so smart, she makes good grades and doesn’t get in trouble much at school. She is not perfect but she is a wonderful little girl. To think back on all she has been through it is mind-blowing that she is doing as well as she is! I know God has big plans for her. The fact that the devil tried so hard to hold her back is a reminder of that fact. She will still have struggles to deal with in life. I see puberty on the horizon (yikes!) just for starters. I know her struggles will only make her stronger because she knows that when bad things happen in her life then God is going to use that to bless her. She knows that finding out she was abused was so painful for her mom and dad that they were able to bond and become a better parenting team. She knows that her dad and I were on the brink of divorce but we knew what she was going through was bigger than any problem we had. She knows that her sisters are always going to stand by her no matter what. She knows that she has parents that will fight for her no matter how long the battle we will always fight for what is best for her. We all learned so much from that terrible experience but we are all better for it. We know that God worked things out for our good.
