i have no idea whether this'll actually be canon or not but i'm entranced by the idea that Najin was the twin that was a complete mess, not Nagyunn.
like Nagyunn is really good at compartmentalizing. and this combined with the fact that he's not holding on to his anger at the villagers made him, at least at the start of the series, a surprisingly functional person. like. he had a plan in life. he was going to get the hell out of Woodion and see the world. he had a plan to get himself into a better position and be a happier person. and even now, his life still sucks and his only goal is revenge, but he's not completely miserable. there're still bright spots. he's just very good at surviving in bad situations.
Najin, on the other hand, we can say none of that about. we admittedly don't know a lot about him does not paint the picture of peak mental health: he was rude and a mean bastard, to everyone, not just the villagers. he was a member of the masked bandits. Nagyunn was the only person he let himself act happy with. and if you go with the idea that he joined the masked bandits for Nagyunn's sake, it's very easy to imagine him as a very angry person who had signed his life away to protect the only good thing in his life before he knew what that would mean for him.
all that is to say, flaming-trashcan-of-a-person Najin rights.
#the ember knight#i am going to extrapolate character traits from a character that is so shrouded in mystery#god. najin as this edgy angsty loner who hates everyone but mostly himself is so. god.#Wait. oh no. ive just made him into fucking. yukio okumura but slightly to the right.#no wonder i cant stop thinking about him
